Post 3.1 Update, First Sync Mis-aligns Fields (child -- brother ??)
Anyone else have issues with the first sync after 3.1 bringing up a series of conflicts to resolve centered around newly mis-aligned address book fields? Both my phone and my wife's phone, syncing with the same Mac address book list, decided that every non-empty "child" field in a phone contact was suddenly a "brother" instead. Easy resolution during the sync because iTunes raised the alert that there were conflicts, but just want to raise the issue so Apple knows of it. Bottom line, they were all "child" before the update, and somehow during the initial sync, iTunes decided they were "brother".
I have that CHILD to BROTHER sync anomaly happening also.

I just statred Flash CC for the first time and it seems that the text within the pop-up window (dialog box) is mis-aligned and not allowing me access to the command buttons, nor all the text. (ie: the NEW Template Box, can't see but 2/3 of the content) is there a fix to this problem? using 8.1, Monitor is a high res.2560x1440.

Firefox sync on F4B10 stopped working after first sync of Firefox mobile B3
I run Firefox 4 beta 10 on a Mac OS X 64-bit system and Windows XP 32-bit. I installed Firefox 4 mobile beta 3 on my Nexus S and did my first sync. Since then I have received "Unknown error" from Sync 1.6.1 on both desktop systems, and bookmark sync is no longer working. We have 3 Apple Id's, each ID using an iPad and an iPhone (3 id's, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones). We want to use one calendar on all 6 devices and have that one calendar update or sync to all devices. We would like all 6 devices to provide notifcations from the one unique calendar as well. We do not want to share contacts, photos, ect. Please suggest how to achieve this, with the name of the calendar, if I am to get one from the App store, and how to set this up. Please talk in easy terms as I am technically Challenged. If I understand correctly you want all 6 devices to have access to a single calendar that each device gets notifications for and can edit. You can do that with an private iCloud shared calendar. First sign into www.icloud.com and use these steps from the following article to share a calendar:
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note: You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.

1. Uninstall iTunes and QuickTime.
2. Do a search in the C:\ drive for "QuickTime". Delete EVERYTHING that pops up.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Install QUICKTIME ONLY
5. THEN install iTunes......and IT WORKS.....Just remember to install QuickTime FIRST. -
ITunes 10.6.1 - ipod version update button is mis-linked
When a docked ipod is synced with iTunes 10.6.1, on the ipod summary page, when the Version Update button is selected, iTunes checks the current iTunes version and returns the message, iTunes is up to date even though in the Version window it says there is a newer version of software for this ipod ( iOS 6.0 ), The Update button is mis-directed. It should be checking and updating the docked iPods system software. Not checking iTunes up to date.

How do I update and sync a new Iphone without adding an old Iphones Info?
I used to have an I phone 3 that was backed up on my laptop. I then got a new Iphone 4 and have never synced or updated it in a year(I know that sounds crazy lol). I want to sync and back up the info on my newer Iphone 4 without adding what was on my old Iphone 3 to it and replacing my current contacts and data. I am scared that when I go to sync it and update, it will clear my new Iphone 4 info to put on the old contacts and what not.

My itunes says that my ipod is synced with another library when it is not and cannot update or sync without wiping it and all its data
Can anyone help meSyncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
All media content will be erased during the first sync, but you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

First sync after moving from windows to mac

I just decided that I'm fed up with reinstalling and bought a new iMac (OS X). I've found a lot of posts about moving iTunes and music. But Im still afraid to do the first sync.
What I want to know is what will happen with my contacts and callender?
On the old comp I used to sync the iPhone with outlook.
If I sync now with the new library on the mac, will all my contacts and callender be deleted? Or will they be copied from iPhone to mac?
I also have the old iTunes library on an external hard drive. Is that any help?If you haven't transferred contacts and calendar events from Outlook on your PC to the Address Book and iCal on your Mac and you don't plan on doing so, before syncing this data on your Mac, enter one unique contact in the Address Book and one unique calendar event in iCal on your Mac. Make this up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync of this data, which you want to select.

Okay... I did what our friend johnr suggested and after some research and a little headache, I managed to get my Arch Linux working again by downgrading just 3 packages. Here are the few steps I did:
First of, install this little package called 'downgrade' to help you downgrade the packages.
1. Okay, first we need to remove these 3 packages which requires Xorg >1.16:
# pacman -Rs xf86-input-evdev xf86-video-vmware xorg-server
2. Now we have to downgrade xf86-input-evdev to the exact version 2.9.0-1. Search for it in the list, type its corresponding number and press enter. Example:
$ downgrade xf86-input-evdev
2) xf86-input-evdev-2.9.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz (remote)
select a package by number: 2
:: Proceed with installation? [Y/n] y
add xf86-input-evdev to IgnorePkg [y/n] y
3. Downgrade xorg-server to the exact version 1.15.2-1. We have to do the same as the previous step:
$ downgrade xorg-server
4) xorg-server-1.15.2-1-x86_x64.pkg.tar.xz (remote)
select a package by number: 4
:: Proceed with installation? [Y/n] y
add xorg-server to IgnorePkg [y/n] y
4. Last but not least, we have to downgrade xf86-video-vmware to the exact version 13.0.2-1:
$ downgrade xf86-video-vmware
3) xf86-video-vmware-13.0.2-1-x86_x64.pkg.tar.xz (remote)
select a package by number: 3
:: Proceed with installation? [Y/n] y
add xf86-video-vmware to IgnorePkg [y/n] y
And that's pretty much it... I hope it helps!
P.S.: As we added those 3 packages to 'IgnorePkg', pacman won't upgrade them unless you remove them from pacman's config file: /etc/pacman.conf.

New iPhone 4 hangs on first sync attempt
finally did it and bought an iphone. when i tried my first sync with iTunes, it started to back up then it hung.
all attempts at sync fail....no idea why or what i am doing here. i did repair permissions. any ideas?The only thing that I can think of is that the backup that occurs when you first connect your iPod is:
A - Taking to long
B - Disconnecting
As the first requirement before the iPod does anything is to do this function.
Post that function it then copies music, apps and so forth down or up to the device.
Additionally if the backup fails, all sequential syncs just do the copy as mentioned after the backup.
Can you do me an exercise?
0 - Disconnect the iPhone from your computer
1 - First power down the phone (hold the power button) and slide the red slider across the screen.
2 - Restart the phone (hold the power button again until the apple logo appears)
3 - Wait for total restart and AT&T signal strength to appear
4 - Connect the iPhone
5 - Watch the backup line and see what happens?
Additionally it may work fine this time since it did all of this the first time... However any time a large app is installed, or a larger app gets additional data it may take that one app a long time to backup causing this issue. Once that app is backedup and it does not continue to change the backup routine is faster and then the syncs equally complete quicker.
Let us know how that goes...
