Post 4.1.1 update google.services.gapps has stopped, gmail has stopped

After my JB update, but not immediately after, I get intermittent pop-up errors saying Unfortunately google.services.gapps has stopped, with 2 buttons, Report and OK.  Also the same with gmail stopping.
I thought I might be able to delete my google account and re add it, sign in and then resync, but on my Settings page, where it used to say Accounts & Sync, it now only says Accounts, and I can't find any way to unsync and resync.

    Hi re4ee,
I feel your pain regarding post software update issues. My son has the Nexus and he encountered similar issues after the update. It is highly recommended to do a http://goo.gl/dWY5c factory reset after an operating system software update to resolve any apps compatibility issues, so I had my son do a factory reset. He complained about how inconvenient that is but he did any way, and is very happy he did it as all post update issues were resolved. I recommend you give it a try as well and keep us posted.

  • "Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" caused by Trusted Place ?

    Error Description:
"The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"  error was popping up in one second after the previous one was "OK"-ed, endless.
    Background:
Some minutes earlier Trusted Agents was set to ON, thereafter Trusted Places "HOME,Home" was defined.
    Error removed:
    - The Google Play services version 7.0.99 (1809214-436) was "uninstall updates" -ed to (default) version 6.5.99(1642632-436).
    - Thereafter "Trusted Agents" was switched off.
First usages do not show the error, I will update the thread next time it pops up again.
    Device and Versions:

    Customization: 1289-4696 R4C
    Google Play Build version: 5.3.6.
    Questions:
    - Should I update of Google Play services now ?  /lots of notifications coming ...
    - What can I expect, when is it possible to use Trusteds on that phone ?
    - What can I expect with the other Z3C in our family, which uses the Trusted Place w/o error ?
(Or should I be just plain happy to use the feature at least on one other phone at the moment ?   ;-)
    - Is there an official update 5.x (x>0) planned for Xperias ?

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

  • Has anyone had this message come up after a reboot unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped?

I get this weird message after I down loaded the 4.2.2 update saying that gapps has stopped

You mean 4.4.2 download of KitKat. 4.2.2 was Jelly Bean.
If you haven't seen it again, I wouldn't worry too much. I think on my LG G2, post upgrade, I saw it.
You could go to Settings | Application manager  then scroll to the right till you see All, then scroll down, and make sure you see Download Manager, and press it, and verify that it is Enabled.

@2feedthesoul, I found the following link with a potential solution for your problem. Check it out:
The following steps are detailed on the link:
Quick and simple solution for that bug - i have try to follow all post that i was able to find but nothing works
    brand new samsung galaxy s 19000 - android 2.2.1
    1. turn off sync - you can do just for google calendar [ this is faulty one ]
    2.go to settings->apps ->manage apps ->all
    3. find calendar storage -> clear cache -> clear
    4.find calendar sync -> clear
    5.reboot phone
    6. reeneble sync
Simple and efective, problem gone - anyway it works for me
    Here is the link: http://www.google.pl/support/forum/p/Google%20Mobile/thread?tid=19a2949acbcf019f&hl=en
It seems that this is one of the google apps. Some say its the Calendar sync, some say its GoogleTalk. Either ways, you can try the steps above for Calendar.
    Hope this helps!

  • Google Play and Google Services errors on Moto E

Hello,  I have a Moto E phone which has recently stopped working properly. I keep getting error popups saying 'Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped' , 'Google services has stopped working', 'Google play has stopped working' and 'google apps has stopped working'.  I have also been receiving multiple copies of text messages which were sent to me yesterday, the battery is draining quickly and overheating, I can't send anything by bluetooth and I can't access games. Pages also close on me after the popups appear. I have tried different 'fixes' that are mentioned online - I have tried clearing the caches of all the apps, running the phone in safe mode, uninstalling google play services (it wouldn't let me as it is an 'administrator', which it won't let me change), resetting all app preferences, disabling and re-enabling different apps and turning off/on wi-fi. I have also seen the fix saying that I should turn on 'wake up' or something in the privacy settings, but I don't have it. So basically, does anyone out there have any ideas on how I can fix this? I don't want to factory reset if I can help it as I can't back them up, send them to other people or upload them to the computer (I have spent the last few hours trying).  This phone is only a month old, and I have absolutely no idea what has caused this trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you =)

    Hi ,
    Thanks for joining the Community.
It is likely that one particular app is causing the problem. Try deleting and re-installing any app that triggers the error message when you are using it.
Let me know if this helps.
    Thanks

I think you should look through your journal for more information.  You may want to pastebin it and post a link here.

  • Does clearing cache & data in Google Services Framework really force OTA updates?

While waiting for Big Red to push the OTA 4.3 update to their Samsung GS3 customers, I read somewhere that clearing the cache + data + selecting Force Stop in the Google Services Framework app [settings>applications manager>all] before checking the device software update status [settings>about phone>software update>check new] would force available OTA updates to the device; however, after repeated attempts, I've been unsuccessful achieving that objective. In fact, after doing all that AND removing both the battery + sim card for 30-60 seconds, the date/time stamp in the update status continues to read the most recent status check.
Though I've seen several claims of success doing this on different devices, has anyone else in the VZW Community tried this and has gotten a successful 'force update' on their GS3?

No, that will not force an update, especially one that does not exist.

  • Hey Verizon / HTC / Google  Please fix the caller ID problem, post 2.2 Froyo UPDATE.

Hey Verizon / HTC / Google  Please fix the caller ID problem, post 2.2 Froyo UPDATE.  This is a major Problem.

I have provided some steps below that may help with the Caller Id issue you are experiencing.
Try completing a soft reset on the device. A soft reset would be powering the device off and pulling out the battery. Once the battery is removed, place it back in and power the device back on.
Dial *228 and send. Once dialed, listen for the recording to prompt you for option 1 and select option 1. The phone should complete its programming within a minute.
Ensure you are using the area-code and 7 digit number format (ex. 9999951212)
Try removing the contact and re-adding it.

  • Sony software update and google services

Since today when I updated the Sony software I keep getting an error message tell me the Google services need updating. I click the link to play store and it doesn't give me the option to updated just open or unistall. Tried the unistall and after reinstalling still get the same message. Any ideas as it's driving me mad.thanks

I do business trips most of the time. And I use my Z3's "Ultra STAMINA Mode" whenever I'm out for days to save on mobile power. After updating to Android 5.0.2, my SMS or Sony's default text messaging application keeps on crashing whenever I attempt to read my new messages and whever I will try to reply. Please have this fixed Sony. I've been your follower since the Z series started. And issues like this never happened. I trust that you can fix this. This is one of Sony Xperia Z3's power management functions/features that I am really using and maximizing. Please let me enjoy this experience again. Thanks a lot in advance. Anyone also experiencing the same?

  • What is Google Services and why is it using 50% of my battery?

This is far and away the biggest user of my battery capacity. I've been watching battery usage closely since I deferred this latest update and then my battery longevity went way down and it took a long time to charge. But I also remember in the past that Google Services has always been a pretty big user.

DNS (Domain Name Service) is the Internet "address book" of web sites. Whenever you go to a site such as http://apple.com your browser must make calls to the DNS server specified in your Network Settings to translate "apple.com" into Apple's IP (Internet Protocol) address of 17.178.96.59. Any time you access any Internet resource (such as sending or receiving email, playing multi-player games, using a browser, Using any app that accesses data on the Internet such as news, weather, stocks, etc) one or more DNS lookups must be made. Many web sites have content from several different sites. Each site referenced on the page must also be looked up. Each query is small (~100 bytes), but they can add up.

  • Please add google services in nokia xl

Dear nokia please add google services in next xl update.
We want pure android. Lots of app are not available on your app store.

It is pure android, devoid of Google mobile services.
I don't think, Google services will be added in future.
Known from now, Nokia X software platform is on the way to farewell.
don't worry, it will be running almost all apps, if you won't find an app on Nokia store, you may get it from 1mobile and other stores.
Even sideloading of apps is possible.
    A past Nokia X user, now a X user.

  • IPv6, WRT1900AC, Android, and Google Services

    Hey Guys,
I recently found that I had to turn off IPv6 in my rotor to be able to connect to Google services on My android products. Anybody else having this problem? Any ideas as to why this would be the case? I am running the latest FW for both the wrt1900ac and the Android devices. I did have the issue where the wrt1900ac didn't get a new IPv6 address after updating, but I fixed that by turning off both the rotor and the modem now the rotor shows it has an IPv6 address. Any suggestion Ideas on this would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have IPv6 working, then your Android and iOS devices should use it in preference to IPv4. It may be that since your IPv6 is turned on but not working right, that's causing your mobile devices to hang when they try to use IPv6. If you disable your non-working IPv6, IPv4 will do what you need to do without IPv6 enabled.
You really have two choices here. You can either get IPv6 working properly, or just turn it off so your mobile devices don't try to use it and time out as you've been seeing.  IPv6 works fine for me with Comcast IPv6 and the WRT1900AC. All I've had to do was reboot the router after enabling IPv6, and then got 10/10 on the ipv6 test on the internet. If that's not happening for you, I'd just disable IPv6 for the moment and talk to your ISP to see if it should work, and what sort of IPv6 support you need. IPv6 from an ISP can be native, or like Comcast, which uses DHCPv6-PD, or it might use a tunnel, or it might not be supported at all by your ISP.
In any case, like I said, I'd just disable IPv6 until I found out what's going on with your ISP and IPv6.
