Post acrobat install problem
Firefox, XPpro, CS5:
For four days, a particular website I visit has become corrupted; it's Wordpress Right column is in disarray. All other websites remain normal in appearance.
The right column contains various categorized lists and book covers (for purchase).
The left column containing articles is normal.
On 8/19, 5 days ago, I installed Acrobat X (10.1.4), having been prompted to do so.
Add and Remove says I can't remove the Acrobat X (10.1.4).
I don't know if there's any connection between these two things, except for date of onset.
Can anyone suggest a possible source? I haven't been able to fix it.

New computer, deactivated cs4 and cs5 design premium on old computer. Installed cs5 and cs4 on new computer. Activated. All applications working except acrobat 9.
It installed under CS4 and when I try to open, it asks me to open another application in the suite to activate it. Do as it asks and nothing happens.
Printing to pdf files in all my applications ( non Adobe) are locking up.
How do I get this resolved? Should not Acrobat install under CS5? it does not show up as an option.
Any help is appreciated.

ByronThanks for the reply. did a large number of uninstalls and reeinstalls of Acrobat last night and I think I got it working. Took a series of uninstalls, reboots and reinstall from the Acrobat CD from CS5.
My initial confusion was the wrong assumption that Acrobat would install correctly from the CS5 install after installing CS4 so the upgrade to CS5 would work correctly.
I hate adding noise to forums, but maybe someone else will find this useful.

Itunes 1.11 windows 8 install problems, itunes 11.1 windows 8 install problems
I am running Windows 8 on a Dell XPS16 laptop and was using iTunes v 10 something. When upgrading my iPhone 4S to IOS7 while connected to iTunes running on my PC, the upgrade indicated that I needed to upgrade my iTunes to v11.1 something (the latest version). I proceeded to do this and the upgrade appeared to work OK. However, when attempting to restart iTunes (after a reboot) all that happened was that the iTunes Software License Agreement window opened on my PC. There are no buttons on the window, even after scrolling all the way to the bottom, and no option but to close the window. So my current state is that I now no longer have a working iTunes on my PC.
I have tried many of the suggestions made to others who were also having problems with this upgrade. Each time I downloaded, saved, ran or re-ran an upgrade, the install appeared to work fine and finished normally. Each time the installation populates the \Program Files (X86)\iTunes folders and the properties of the iTunes.exe are as follows:
I thought this was to be a Windows 64 bit upgrade so I'm not sure why it gets put in "...\Program Files (X86)" as opposed to "...\Program Files".
I have tried all of the following and each time I just get the same license agreement window shown previously:
1. Followed an iTunes support link that indicated how to remove and cleanup all Apple software and then re-install iTunes by downloading it and using Run As Administrator to run the downloaded file iTunes64Setup.exe.
2. Tried to troubleshoot the .exe using the properties | compatibility | Run Compatibility Troubleshooter option - no luck.
3. Numerous cycles of download and save the update, uninstall the old, install the new, install/repair the existing, etc.
Note that about a month ago, I allowed iTunes to upgrade itself to version 11.1... and the same thing happened as described above. I spent many hours trying to resolve the issue and finally had to go back to ITunes 10 something. I have, since that time, ignored any iTunes requests to upgrade but in a weak moment when upgrading my phone, I lost my head and let the upgrade proceed! Hopefully someone has a solution to getting the Windows 8 64 bit upgrade working.

Acrobat X problem with ClearScan in Windows 7
Using Acrobat X (10.1.2) Standard on WIndows 7 Pro. I have been scanning documents with OCR set to 'Searchable text' for months. I like the ClearScan option better, but when I changed the scanning options to use it Windows reported 'Acrobat has stopped working' and shut it down.
It happened on page 2 of a B&W scan at 600 dpi, and on page 5 of a greyscale at 300 dpi. The B&W problem was completely reproduceable, I only tried the greyscale once.
I tried the B&W scan (three pages) using 'Searchable text', followed by Tools > Document processing > Optimise scanned PDF and chose ClearScan there, and it worked fine.
I don't see any comments on this, although there are Mac comments related to ClearScan in Acrobat 9.
Is this a known problem?

I have a CanoScan 4400F.
To check it again I scanned some pages in B&W after changing the option to ClearScan using Configure Presets. After the second page had scanned and the progress windows showed “Initialising OCR” it crashed. Windows report was only that Adobe Acrobat had stopped working, no “Details” link to click. I searched around and did not find a crash log, just the information below. Windows did suggest a solution – that I get an update to Adobe Reader, however I do not have Adobe Reader installed!
I tried a second time, and it was fine for 3 pages but crashed on the fourth. These are multi-page scans – I click “Scan more pages”.
Using Windows 7 Pro (32-bit), fully up-to-date.

Reader 9.0 install problem
I too am having problems with this install. The message is twofold: Network not supported; then it's looking for something called 'sfr.msi file'.
I tried the windows cleanup suggestion, got another error from them saying " cannot find script engine for VBScript............." (shortened version). i have no idea what these mean or what to do about them.
Unfortunately, Adobe has become so pervasive it's now a necessity. I have no other way to download needed forms.
Acrobat installed just fine.

Install problem Error with Z drive
Our IT guys configure our machines with a Z drive as a network share. Any ideas how to resolve the conflict with PE9 install.

DavidI did not pick the Z drive for install. I always pick the C drive if given the option. But PE9 just went to work on its own and told me it could not install to the Z drive... there is a known issue posted here along these lines, however, so I think Adobe is on to it... of course i had to install as a trial version on a second machine to test the disk burning...then I have to solve the install problem, so I can install the license on the machine with the install problem.... all a big catch 22. Adobe Story free application install problem
I have been using Adobe Story Free version for a year but with the most recent automatic update (Dec 2012) the desktop application will not open. Upon clicking the icon for Adobe Story it attempts to take an update but stops with the following message:
" Sorry, an error has occurred. This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance."

Question: I have purchased a Adobe Captivate 4 license and I have downloaded the setup file from adobe site and installed in a x86 windows XP machine which is joined in a windows 2003 server ADS.At first I installed as trial version once installed I provided the key after all a windows will come up with asking the license agreement I click accept but Nothing will happen nothing will run in the system, also I cant uninstall when clicking uninstall nothing is happen .I have tried installing by creating a folder under the program files as adobe2 then I can start the program but after a while or afte many time but this doesn't help .I have the same problem in other machines too. can any one help me?r a day it will again as the license agreement windows and I selected accept then the same problem I have tried reinstallingHow does this relate to GoLive?

i did it all above. but it could not be installed. problems shows installer encountered error that caused the installation to fail. an unknown error occured. so now what should i do.
The above you are talking about refers to instructions for Snow Leopard (10.6) and you did post in the Snow Leopard forum area.
Your system profile confirms you are actually using Lion (10.7.1). Therefore, you should seach for Lion instructions in the Apple's Knowledge Base or post over in the Mac OS X v10.7 Lion forum area. -
U410 - Clean Windows 8 install problems

I'm installing windows 8 pro 64-bit from scratch. Downloaded all the windows 8 drivers from the support site (ofcourse the x64 variants for the 64-bit install), and roughly 75% of the driver packages fail to install correctly. Are you aware of these problems? Result; touchpad not functioning properly, no working wifi (at all, had to use an usb wifi module), 2 unknown modules in device management. Probably more i didnt notice off the bat.
I was also trying to update my bios with the bios package from the download page, and altho this one installs/launches, it states i have an invalid bios file.

FCP 4.0.1 Install Problems on POWERBOOK with OS X.4.10
I had some facts wrong in my earlier post. I have a powerbook 1.33 Ghz 17" running OS X.4.10. I did a clean install of 10.4.10. When I try to install FCP 4.0.1, I get to the liscensing window and enter my serial number, but the "OK" button stays grayed out.
This is my second laptop of the same model. On the first one, everything installed normally, and I upgraded to FCP 4.5. That powerbook developed vertical lines on the display, so I returned it to the reseller. I do not know what OS was installed.
I have my replacement in hand, but now I have install problems. Can anybody shed light on this?
Thanks.Triple check the serial number you're inputting... ones can look like L's and zero's can look like OH's etc... it must be exactly right.

First I installed Captivate 3 trial on Vista. It worked fine,
I was using a non-Admin-account (but with granted admin rights).
When the trial expired I decided to buy the Technical Communication
Suite and the trouble began. I installed it and activated
FrameMaker successfully. FrameMaker, Acrobat and RoboHelp startup
successfully, but Captivate always comes up with "trial expired".
After several install/remove/install cycles I figured out
that I cannot get rid of the "trial expired" screen in Captivate
unless I use "Start as Administrator" from the Windows file
explorer context menu. When I login as (the one and only)
Administrator no problem arises. Now Captivate works also under the
regular account, but asks on every startup if I would allow to
start it with Administrator rights.
Even worse is that on right clicks (e.g. to the start icon)
Acrobat install starts and tries to configure something.
Could somebody please help me? I guess there should be just
some left-over files or registry entries which must be corrected.
I have a Production Suite CS3 installation on the same PC and
I'm not that happy with the recommendation of Adobe Tech Support
just to remove everything from my PC and install everything from
scratch. It's like telling me "go and get a new PC". This is a very

Sorry you are having issues. First off, note that I'm not an
Adobe employee. In fact, they rarely visit here. Occasionally they
will if we ask them to. Or they look in for a short period after a
new product release. But other than that, we are pure user-to-user
support.
The fact is, you have the Technical Communication Suite. This
is a package of four components (FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Captivate
and Acrobat Pro 3D) that have been designed to work together. So
you have special versions of each that are only available by
purchasing the suite. As you apparently downloaded the stand alone
trial of Captivate only, I'm guessing that is causing the issue
with the operation of it as opposed to other suite components.
I know it probably won't sit well with you, but you should
probably try Adobe's suggestion of uninstalling to start over.
However, I'm not sure I'd suggest uninstalling everything. I'd
probably try the following approach.
Uninstall the TCS.
Install the Captivate 3 trial, then uninstall it. (It wasn't
clear if you performed an uninstall of the Captivate 3 trial prior
to installing the TCS. As the TCS and the stand alone verison are
different, I'm thinking that if you simply installed the TCS
without first uninstalling the trial, this could be what caused the
issue. So I'm suggesting a special uninstall of the trial only in
the hopes that it will help cure the issue)
Reinstall the TCS and hopefully things will be better.
If that fails to work, you are probably in for a call to
support to help unravel and correct the issue.
I know it's a pain, but Adobe is huge with a vast array of
products. Many products (such as Captivate) were acquired from
other companies. So I'm sure that Adobe is still today working to
make them coexist more seamlessly. You have many different
departments involved. For example, even with simple stand alone
Captivate, another department handles the installation bits. So
it's quite possible that some routine with installation isn't all
that familiar to even the staff handling the actual product
development.

am posting this for a friend of mine who has been using iT on his windows laptop for years.
He was trying to install the latest iTunes, and he downloaded it okay. When it started installing, he gets as far as the step "validating" and then it just stops - no error message or anything.
any clues? I see other folks have been having Windows iT install problems, but not exactly this one (there was no error message number).
(He's using a pre-vista version of Windows - could it be that the newest iT is only supposed to work with vista? I know nothing about windows.)

Just a few quick thoughts.
1. The newest iTunes does not work with Windows 2000.
2. Some problems have been due to a display setting. To see everything the display setting (Changed through the Control Panel and/or Display) should be 1024 x 768.

Since installing Lion no DVDs are being read by the superdrive, this is a problem that has been highlighted by quite a lot of people.
CDs are being read fine.
After inserting the DVD there is some noise, sounds like it is trying to pickup the DVD then spits it back out.

I noticed another thread with this title, but the user had a different problem, so I figured my problem warranted a different thread.
I have installed Omnisphere three times, but the same thing keeps happening. After the install, I launch Logic and open an instance of Omnisphere. The very first patch I select shows the progress percentage reach 100%, then I get a popup error:
Cannot load SoundSource "blah, blah" from Directory Core Library. File "xxxx.zmap" may be missing or corrupted. Try refreshing the SoundSource Browser.
Questions:
1. Anyone else have this problem and solve it?
2. How do I refresh the SoundSource Browser?
Notes:
1. Before each resintall I did a search and deleted everything Omnisphere.
2. I am installing on an external drive - not enough space on the boot drive.
3. I am using a Dual G5, OS 10.4.11I assume you're referring to the previous poster, but my problem is not seeing Omnisphere in Logic Pro 8. The plugin shows up fine... I just get an error message on a bunch of the patches when I try to load them. There are only a few that load and play.
I contacted Spectrasonics, but their only suggestion so far didn't resolve the issue.
I am starting to think the issue is related to installing directly to an 2nd drive. The problem is that I don't have enough space on my primary drive. But I think this weekend I will try to clean enough space and install it directly to the boot drive to see if that makes a difference.
Kinda of frustrating because they say you can install to a 2nd drive. But I'm hoping I hear back from them soon with a resolution. I don't hear back from them more than every other day, so I have to push them a little bit for a response.
