Post Cap & deleting unused asset shells

Hi There
Two questions I need assistance on :
1. How to identify whether asset shell was created with post cap indicator ticked. When creating an asset shell that requires post cap depreciation treatment it is very important to have the post cap indicator ticked. If not, depreciation is all lumped with current year depreciation allocation.  Audit issue. Idea is to check unposted asset shells BEFORE settlement rule from PS adds value, so that correction can be made proactively. However, cannot find any report or table that carries this info.
2. our system has been configured that user will input capitalisation date when creating asset shell. This prevents asset shell being deleted if incorrect. Normally we lock asset shell in such cases. However, when doing fiscal year change at end of year these assets cause AJRW to end in error. How can we delete these shells before running  ARJW?
Your assistance will be appreciated.
Nic Goosen

Hi Ajay
1. We manually populate capitalisation date so it is mandatory in any case. So cannot settle to shell without capitalisation date. It was a requirement upon implementation to seperate depreciation in GL between current year portion and that part relating to previous year. If post cap block is ticked, it does exactly that when doing ABNAN, but if post cap block is not ticked when creating asset shell depreciation is not seperated in GL and all lumped in current year. Hence the need to ensure users do tick post cap block when creating asset shell that has a prior year date in service.
2. Yes u are correct.  Shell was created but no value added. When I say ARJW end in error it does show the traditional "red message" but stangely it allows posting with these "errors"??? The message is : asset 12345-2 cannot be processed.
Thanks.

  • Deleting Unused Assets

I have been working on a site for over a year, and I have
accumulated many images in the folder that I no longer need. I am
looking for an easy way to find assets that are not being used and
delete them in bulk. I have seen this feature in other web design
programs, but I cannot find it in dreamweaver. Hunt-and-find will
take forever because many current and old images have very similar
names and I'm afraid to delete an image that is currently in use.
    Thanks.

  • How to delete an asset with a capitalization date inefaceable and no value?

    Hi all,
An asset was created on the wrong asset class. I would like to erase it but this is impossible because of the capitalization date.
Indeed, I cannot change the fields status variant of the capitalization date, it is compulsory.
Furthermore, as this asset was an error, there are no values on it.
I tried to enter a deactivation date, but this is not possible because of no acquisition performed.
Therefore, I would like to know if it is possible to erase an asset even if a capitalization date has been entered in the master data?
If it is possible, how can I do?
    Thanks for help

    Hi,
This is the drawback in asset master, when you make cap date as mandatory for AS01 transaction.
As a standard practice, cap date gets updated automatically when posting MIGO / F-90 only along with the qty.
In your case, first ask your ABAP member to delete the values from cap date field from table ANLA. (Field Name: AKTIV) for your questioned asset.
Then you can delete that asset with AS06 by choosing Physically delete the asset.
    This will resolve your issue.
But if you make your field status as optional to cap date, then you must not got these kind of issues in the future.

  • Is is possible to delete an Asset physiscally when its value is zero?

    Hi All,
Is it possible to delete an Asset physically after is been used and its value is made zero or some other way?
    Regards,
    Sudheer K

    Hi,
If it is in a test environment you can try OABL.
However, in production system, you can't/supposed to do that.  You can delete with AS06 provided no transaction has beep posted to an asset.

  • Invalid entry on asset prior to deletion of asset

    Hi Friends,
For one Asset, there was an amount booked on 30.09.2009 for currency SEK and then reversed 11.12.2009. However, there is a difference in the USD amounts for Depreciatin Area 32 (Group Book in Group Currency-USD) but no SEK amounts.
Zero value in Depreciation area 01
but 8.58 USD in Depreciation area 32
I can see that amount it looks like a USD exchange rate problem.
The amount on the asset should not be there - the amount on the asset should not be there - customer requesting that this entry be removed so asset can be closed.
Can any body assit on this how to clear this amount.
    Thanks
    Venkata

    HI  Bernhard,
    Yes, you are right.
This a difference between transaction currency and depreciation area currency.
    Transaction currency is SEK
and Dep Area currency is USD (32 dep area)
and the posting made in Tra Cur (01) and Dep area currency (32) as below:
30.09.2009     71,480.69-     116     Acquisition - internal settlement to AuC     SEK
11.12.2009     71,480.69     116     Acquisition - internal settlement to AuC     SEK
30.09.2009     10,156.69-     116     Acquisition - internal settlement to AuC     USD
11.12.2009     10,148.11     116     Acquisition - internal settlement to AuC     USD
    So the difference in Dep area (32) is 10,156.69 - 10,148.11 =  8.58.
I request you to let me know how to clear 8.58 from dep area 32 so that I can delete the asset from books.
    Thanks

  • Deletion of asset

    Hi Guru's,
How to delete asset suppose i created asset and posted depriciation for some periods these assets how to delete could you explain me.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi
For deleting the asset you can use AS06 Transaction as said above.
But you told already the depreciation is posted.
Then you need to Reverse the Acquisition Amount and re run the depreciation, the your Asset netbook value will be zero and then you can delete the Asset.

    Hi,
Can you briefly explain what doesn "unused" asset code mean ?
If you are looking for asset has been created but no values have been posted, you can find out from ANLC table for all value related fields are equal to zero (KANSW, ANSWL, KNAFA etc)

  • Asset Posted Wrongly to Another Asset

    Hi
My user have posted one Non-PO Asset posting into the SAP system, but realized that the Asset No. posted wrongly in last month (Nov 06) and depreciation had been done.
Please suggest whether I can reverse and repost to the correct Asset No. & what about the depreciation and any impact if I have done that.
    Appreciated your inputs,
    Rgds,
    Vyas

    Hi Vyas,
Execute transaction code <b>AS92</b>. Input the <b>Asset Number</b>, <b>Sub-Asset Number</b> and <b>Company Code</b> of the wrongly posted asset you want to correct. Then click on "<b>Takeover Values</b>". Delete the wrong figures for all depreciation areas for both the "<b>***.acquis.val</b>." and "<b>Accm.ord.deprec</b>" fields. Enter the correct Acquisition and Accummulated Depreciation values and Save your entries.
Next, you can now go ahead and recalculate depreciation using transaction code <b>AFAR</b>. This would adjust your books for you.
    I hope the above helps.
Do not forget to award the points please.

  • Titles or Music in Project Shift when deleting unused clips from Event

When deleting unused clips from an Event ("Move Event to Trash | Delete Unused") the Titles and/or the Music / Voiceover shifts in time within the project built from clips in that Event. Sometimes, the music slides later, so instead of starting at the beginning of the project, it's slid over by 20 or so. Other times, the music stayed anchored, but the titles moved to later times. In some cases, the titles not only moved, but streched in time, so that a 5 second title placed at 10 seconds into the project, became a 47 second title, starting 35 seconds into the project! This has happened to four projects and I just verified again as part of this posting that it is still an issue. Easy enough to slide the clips and music back where they belong but now it says "Itunes" and "YouTube" is out of date; they are not - it's iMovie that got confused.

You're performing a 'Ripple delete' by using the DEL key. Use the DELETE key to perform a 'Lift delete'. The DELETE key is located just above the backslash key.

  • Creating asset shell using AS01

I am an auditor and I am missing a couple of asset numbers in the system. Apparently you can create an asset shell but never depreciate it. I tried to browse related asset tables but no record, which makes sense. Is there a log or a document table I can review to show that the shell was created using AS01? I know that asset numbers are created sequentially via AS01 and I am missing two numbers related to the non-capitalized items I am reviewing. I just want to find an audit trail to show that these shells were created and when. I used AS03 to browse for these items using their company code.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
I have a solution for you.
Go to SE16 and enter table name as CDHDR and press enter
in the selection screen of that table, for field TCODE,  enter AS06 and press execute button.
You will get all the table records, wherever asset was created and deleted.
For every table entry you will find one value in field OBJECTID, since this object ID is the combination of your comp code, asset number and it's sub number.
EX: if your object key is ABCD0000012345670000
then ABCD is your comp code, 000001234567 is your asset's main number and 0000 is it's sub number.
Your asset number will be shown in 12 digits only, with preceeding zeros.
So for every record you can see that, who was deleted that record on when he/she deleted that record.
But you cannot see the actual creation date for that asset, since the above date will be DATE OF DELETION only.
    Hope this solves your issue.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • Backing up a "Delete Unused Media" Master.

When we're finished editing a program on FCPro (latest version, with almost new computers) we'll go thru the Media Manager and use "Delete Unused Media" - and then save that (the folder and Sequence clapperboard)onto a DVD-R.
Works great. And almost always restores perfectly.
But sometimes, although we shoot on a CF Card (Canon XF300 camera and a Panasonic HVX200) the client will give us a Betacam tape, we need to capture from that - and of course Media Manager won't take "just a short clip" we use from that card. As I understand - it doesn't have the proper Time Code or something like that, not really relevant to my 'issue' here!
But then the "Delete Unused Media" files can be 12 or more gig. so it needs several DVD-r's to write to. We use "BackUp" the Apple program that comes with Mobileme to do this as it seems to understand how to breakup a large file to multiple dvd-r's. Usually restores them just fine, too.
But it can be a little flakey . . . it crashes more often than it should during this lengthy procedure. We'll get a BackUp Failed" error. When we click 'history' we see some vague (to us) like "An internal application error has occurred. The archive could not be created. End Backup at . . . "
Doesn't help us much. We're using v 3.2 of BackUp. We'll have the same problem on a specific job with 3 different Mac's - so it's not "the" computer. Anyone have any experience with this . . . ?
It does work most of the time, seemingly intermittent when it fails.
Finally, maybe the easiest solution is to use some other program to backup to DVD'r's. Anyone know of any program that will backup large files (like Backup does) to multiple disks?
    Thanks very much,
    Larry

    Hi Meg,
Thank you for your thoughtful response. BOY, did you open a can of worms around here! Either I just learned something VERY important from you that I didn't know (that I should know!), or perhaps you're mistaken in this particular instance ('cause I didn't make it clear in my original post - as it wasn't directly about THIS issue you've answered) - but in the back of my mind it IS a good issue - we'll see.
I did not know that about the reel name! I believe you're saying as long as it has a reel name - the Unused Media "portion" of it will be deleted when I do a DUM. (Delete Unused Media!)
OK - so we shoot on our Canon XF300 before I import it, I see it automatically names the Reel "Canon XF" and all the footage I shoot on the CF card - the DUM works perfectly. It also HAS a reel name!
But then the client give us an old Betacam tape - and we capture the footage from that. Say it's a 30 minute tape. What I've found - and we're trying to figure out how to avoid - is if there is a 30 second scene on that 30 minute tape that we incorporate into the sequence - when I DUM the sequence - it will save the entire 30 minute tape! Even though we just want to use 30 seconds. That's how it works. Now I don't remember if we "name" that Betacam tape as a reel - we probably do, but I don't remember. But are you saying . . . that if the "capture" (whether from analogue tape or digital cards) has a REEL NAME - the DUM feature will work?
I sure hope you're right - because so far - DUM works for us perfectly - EXCEPT when I include 'old' footage from Betacam or M2 tapes. Of course, that creates a very big file we're NOT wanting 95% of. So I think you're saying if we go back to the DUM sequence and "name" the beta tape - (if it isn't now) - then the DUM feature will work perfectly, as it does now on everythig else.
Thank you Meg - this is important to us as it comes up all the time.
Now pretend you're wrong and the Betacam footage DOES have a reel name. A workaround would be to take each clip we use from the Betacam tape and make a self contained movie of those few seconds, and use that on the timeline. But that would be really bulky. I'm really hoping you're right about the reel name. Have you had any experience with this?
    Really thanks, Larry

  • How to delete unused audio files in a project?

    Hi guys,
    The question is fairly simple:
How to delete unused audio files in a project?
I can't manage to find the answer in the manual,... all I could find is how to delete audio outside used regions!
But in the projects I use, I have loads of outtakes which I don't use in the project anymore, and now, I would like to delete them of the audio folder to save space on the HD.
Can Logic select automatically the takes in the audio files folder which are not used in the project and delete them??
Because there is hundreds of audio files per project, and +/- 50 projects, I just can't do it manually.
    Thanks,
    Fred

Whoops! Yes, I knew that but a cow flew by... Sorry!
The procedure I follow is to do what I described then Save as Project, creating a project folder. That way only the required audio is saved to the folder and I delete all temporary stuff. However, if you have folders with shared material, it's much harder and would require you to go through all your projects doing Save as Project before you could delete your old working folder.
When doing day to day work, best practice is to create a new folder and only use Save as Project when you're working on stuff. Shared material (eg sample libraries etc) can go elsewhere and you can get Logic to copy those to the project folder automatically.
Otherwise, Shift-Backspace in the Audio window, as you rightly say
    Pete

  • Why can I no longer add photos my iPhoto book? Is there a limit to the number of photos? Must I delete unused photos??

Why can I no longer add photos my iPhoto book? Is there a limit to the number of photos? Must I delete unused photos?

This is book # 13 and I've not encountered this problem before. I am dragging photos into the sourse pane but they are not imported. I have other books w/ over 700  pics (not all used) but this has only 300+ so far. I've copied the book to a pdf and it looks as if I'll have to redo it unless there's another solution.

  • HOW TO Delete Unused Media from FINAL CUT PRO

*HOW TO DELETE UNUSED MEDIA FROM HARD DRIVE IN FINAL CUT PRO.* Keywords: disk disc drive space remove compressor
    SUMMARY:
Say your original clip is 10 gigs, you can use only what you need and delete the rest from your hard drive. I know people on the forums say to just buy another hard drive, NO! It took 2 days to figure out but here it is!!! Email me if needed at [email protected]
    QUESTION:
I captured 1 hour of video at a time and now want to delete from my hard drive all the parts I don’t want to use. I have 300GB of junk on my hard drive and I only want to use a few scenes using a few megabytes, so that I'll get most of my 300GB back!!!!
    ANSWER:
In final cut on Mac, click on one small clip (to get familiar with process), go to “file”, “export”, then “using compressor”. This will open compressor software. Your file will open in the left top window. Then you need to batch the job or jobs. IMPORTANT: I’ve also solved the Compressor problem when you press “submit” to a batch and it states “Cluster: None”. Search forum for “In compressor you experience what I have”.
    <Edited by Moderator>

Part of the problem could lie in the fact it's an imovie project coming into FCP, wouldn't rule that out. Second my be the terms you use and what you expect to happen. For example, a subclip is just a smaller clip subbed from a larger clip. It has nothing to do with media management. But you can media manage a subclip and delete the unused media.
Try this (be sure to back up the original clip first). take a long clip into the viewer, make an IN and OUT duration of like 30 frames and then subclip that, Modify > Make Subclip. a new subclip will appear in the browser with a torn clip icon and the name Subclip. Right click on the subclip and choose Media Manager.... Check the Delete unused media from duplicated clip. As you toggle that the green Modified bar at the top change from the full clip size to a tiny modified size. If it does not then one of two things ... user error or the system is screwed up. That's the easiest way to test media manager.

  • Deleting unused media in Media Manager not working

This is one of those cases where I get really frustrated with Apple...
I've captured some footage from VHS using 'capture now', and the media that was created has a bunch of blank frames at the beginning and end. I'd like to remove the excess media from the clip to save space.
I'm following the directions EXACTLY as shown in the section "Creating Independent Media Files From Subclips After Capturing" from the Final Cut Pro User Manual on page 377 selecting subclips I want to keep and using Media Manager to delete unused media, but my media hasn't gotten any smaller, and the blank frames in the original media are still there if I reconnect it.
Furthermore, I've tried using media manager to copy the referenced media (from a subclip) to a new clip, and it just copies the whole file.
How can I get rid of this excess waste of space!!?

Well, does this footage have timecode? A REEL number? If you captured as NON-CONTROLLED device the footage might not have timecode, and without timecode the Media Manager cannot track exactly what you want to remove...what footage you want set aside and copied as the rest is deleted. This is also the case if you don't have a reel number. You might have 5 clips all with the same starting timecode but no reel number.
