  • Making Useful life field optional in Asset master creation(AS01)

    Hi all,
I want to make 'Useful life' field in 'Depreciation area' tab as optional in AS01 (Asset master).
    1. I made the screen layout changes using AO21 and made Useful life optional
    2. I assigned the above screen layout in OAYZ
Despite doing this, during asset master creation, the field still shows as 'Required' and not as 'optional'.
Am I missing anything else?  Kindly provide some pointers.
    Thanks,
    Sridevi

    Hi Sridevi
Please check your depreciation key. If your depreciation is based on useful life, the key is required regardless the field status.
    Thanks

I suppose you need to check your configuration of Low Value Assets for each
    depreciation area.
But before that, please tell me which class of Assets you are using ......Is
it the *LVA Class 5000 ( individual management )* or* 5001 ( collective
management)*. Either way, you need to assign a maximum value / maximum value
over quantity, as the case may be. Unless and until you furnish a value cap,
the asset class does not permit you to create asset master records.
Please look into your IMG under the path:
*IMG -> Financial Accounting -> Asset Accounting -> Valuation ->Amount
    Specifications(Company Code / Depreciation Area) ->
Specify Maximum Amount for LVA + Asset Classes*
You would see two activities listed.
Under *Activity 1*, you need to select and assign value check (*represented
by number 1*) if you are using *LVA Class 5000* ; alternatively, you need
to select and assign Check Maximum Amount with Quantity (*represented by
number 2*) if you are using *LVA class 5001*.
You need to do this for each depreciation area you wish to apply this value
cap to and save (using the floppy icon and look out for the confirmatory
message at the bottom left of your screen).
Under *Activity 2,* You need to furnish a value cap ( a ceiling in monetary
units, currency-specifically) for each depreciation area ( a column for
document value and another for Purchase order value ( possibly to
accommodate any tax, as applicable). Please make sure that you do it for
your company code and for each depreciation area wherein you want to control
    using a value cap.
Save and look for the confirmatory message at the bottom left of the screen.
    Regards,
    Bharti

SYST: Error when caclulating fiscal period --> F1
    Message no. AA655
    Diagnosis
An error occurred while determining the fiscal period 00000000 in period version Z1.
    Procedure
There are three things which could lead to this error:
    1. The period version Z1 allocated to the company code has not been created. In this case, you should create the period version.
    2. The period version has been created, however the allocation of calendar dates to the fiscal periods has not been correctly performed or in particular with calendar-dependent period versions has not been completely performed. Check whether the date entered 00000000 for period version Z1 has been maintained and enter the missing period.
    3. The calendar date 00000000 is invalid. This is a system error. Contact your Systems Specialist.
can you please help me out and this is very urgent for me.

    Hi
Pls run the depreciation run AFAB again. The system should post the depreciation on remaining assets. Even after this you are not able to post depreciation, then use manual depreciation to post the depreciation using t code ABMA
Pls assign points if the information is useful to you

  • Asset master creation error

    HI all,
when I'm creating asset master at AS01, I'm getting an error "No internal number range is defined for the equipment category", I'm getting this error only for one asset class. While I'm creating asset, at ALLOCATION tab, under INTEGRATION OF ASSET AND EQUIPMENT" tag, system getting automatic values as Equipment class,
Is there any where do we assign asset class to equipment categories??
How do I solve this issue???
    thanks & regards
    msr

    HI,
I'm not getting any problem from asset accounting side, everything is fine, no range was defined, a/c determination everything is good. I'm getting error relating to EQUIPMENT, Equipment categories are maintained in PLANT MAINTENANCE, while I'm creating Asset, at allocation tab, I'm getting EQUIPMENT CATEGORY automatically, that's why I'm getting error. Is there any way to see any config setting  between ASSETS AND PLANT MAINTENANCE?

  • What is the use of tab - "ALLOCATION" in Asset master creation (AS01)?

    Hi experts...
in AS01, there are certain tabs like General, Time-dependent, Allocation, origine, Dep area...etc...
From these i am not understood the use of "Allocatio" tab. Please tell me when/why/where this can be useful?
    Regards:
    Dasu

The evaluation group fields are basically used in asset reports for classifying the assets based on various freely definable user texts. The investment support tab is basically used if assets are also defined as investment support measures in ANVEST. Lastly the equipment tab is used if there is integration between assets created in Asset acocuntng and equipment created in PM-Plant maintenance module.
    Thanks and regards

    Hi,
have you generated the period controls properly? If not, the error is raised correctly by the system.
To generate period controls go to:
IMG Asset Accounting -> Depreciation -> Valuation Methods -> Period Control -> Generate Period Controls    / or you can use OA84

  • Asset Post capitalization.....

    HI Experts,
Please clarify me on the below issue...
    1. Asset post capitalization means, if we forgot to capitalized asset for the closed fiscal year, then we have procedure to capitalize those assets... that will be calling as post capitalization of Asset..
    Am i right?
2.Is it possible to create a sub asset (post capitalization asset) with the same capitalization date of main asset?
If it possible, is the system will calculate depreciation from the beginning?
    Thanks in advance
    satya

    Dear,
    Post Capitalization is for.....
Post-capitalization represents subsequent corrections to the acquisition and production costs of a fixed asset. An example of when you need this type of correction is if you neglected to add expenditures and costs linked with the acquisition or assembly of an asset to its APC in a fiscal year that is now closed.
2.Is it possible to create a sub asset (post capitalization asset) with the same capitalization date of main asset?
    Yes.
And it must calculate depreciation from that date.

  • Best practice for "Quantity" field in Asset Master

    Hi
I want to know what is the best practice for "Quantity field" in asset master. It should be made displayed only or required field in Asset Master creation.
Initially I made this field as required entry. So user entered 1 quantity. At the time of posting F-90, he again entered quantity. So my quantity in asset master got increased. Hence i decided to make that field display only in asset master creation.
Now i made that field as display only in asset master creation. At the time of posting F-90, that quantity field is not coming only. I check my field status group for posting key as well as GL account. Its optional field. Inspite of that user is able to make entry in F-90. Now quantity field is '0' only in asset master even though there is some value in asset.
Please help what is the best practice wrt quantity field. Should be open in asset master or it should be display only.

    Hi:
SAP Standard does not recommend you to update quantity field in asset master data.  Just leave the Qty Field Blank , just mention the Unit of Measure as EA. While you post acquisition through F-90 or MIGO this field will get updated in Asset master data automatically. Hope this will help you.
