Hi,
Can any one tell me the difference between Capitalization date and Acquisition date in asset master creation (AS01).

  • Difference between post-capitalization and write-up of an asset

    Dear Experts,
Kindly explain the difference between post-capitalization and write-up of an asset in SAP.
    Regards
    Komal

    Hi Komal,
Post Capitalization means correction of the value of an asset, which is either set too low due to not carrying out a capitalization in the past, or which is treated entirely as expense.
where as Write up is the reversal of past depreciation and write-up is necessary either when the depreciation posted was too high or when the reasons for unplanned depreciation no longer exist.

  • Post-Capitalization of Cash Discount for Asset

    Hi,
We are in ECC 6.0 and have activated Document Splitting.
Further, have provided asset field in Define post capitalization of cash discount to assets in Document Splitting of SPRO.
After the both, my expectation is to see the entry as stated by SAP in the scenario of Post-Capitalization of Cash Discount for Asset.
But unfortunately, the discount amount is not being capitalized on the payment date, but is being posted to cash discount account.
Kindly let me know what mistake i might have carried for this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Purna.
Scenario: Posted invoice for asset purchase using F-90 with payment terms as 2% cash discount if paid within 15 days.
Assume: Asset purchased on 06.01.2012 and as per the payment term if paid before 20.01.2012 i will get 2% cash discount.
Have made the payment to vendor using T-code F-53 on 10.01.2012, even though i see a cash discount is being calculated as required, but the account is an cash discount received account. Instead, what i was expecting is the asset account.
Hope, my question is being clear and i will look forward for a reply.

    Hi,
    Please check your config below.
    IMG->FA->AA->Transactions->Acquistions->Prevent Subsequent Capitalisation of discounts...
If the indicator is set for your company code, system will not capitalised the subsequent discounts.

  • Asset Post capitalization.....

    HI Experts,
Please clarify me on the below issue...
    1. Asset post capitalization means, if we forgot to capitalized asset for the closed fiscal year, then we have procedure to capitalize those assets... that will be calling as post capitalization of Asset..
    Am i right?
2.Is it possible to create a sub asset (post capitalization asset) with the same capitalization date of main asset?
If it possible, is the system will calculate depreciation from the beginning?
    Thanks in advance
    satya

    Dear,
    Post Capitalization is for.....
Post-capitalization represents subsequent corrections to the acquisition and production costs of a fixed asset. An example of when you need this type of correction is if you neglected to add expenditures and costs linked with the acquisition or assembly of an asset to its APC in a fiscal year that is now closed.
2.Is it possible to create a sub asset (post capitalization asset) with the same capitalization date of main asset?
    Yes.
And it must calculate depreciation from that date.

  • Related to post capitalization of assets

    hi friends,
i am tryind to do the ABNAN(Asset transaction -post capitalization), when i entering the current date as original value date it throwing the error "The date entered is not in a closed fiscal year" and if i am trying to enter the 2006 date i.e. last fiscal year it throws the error as below
SYST: Error when caclulating fiscal period --> F1
    Message no. AA655
    Diagnosis
An error occurred while determining the fiscal period 00000000 in period version Z1.
    Procedure
There are three things which could lead to this error:
    1. The period version Z1 allocated to the company code has not been created. In this case, you should create the period version.
    2. The period version has been created, however the allocation of calendar dates to the fiscal periods has not been correctly performed or in particular with calendar-dependent period versions has not been completely performed. Check whether the date entered 00000000 for period version Z1 has been maintained and enter the missing period.
    3. The calendar date 00000000 is invalid. This is a system error. Contact your Systems Specialist.
can you please help me out and this is very urgent for me.
    Thanks nd Regards

    Hi
Pls run the depreciation run AFAB again. The system should post the depreciation on remaining assets. Even after this you are not able to post depreciation, then use manual depreciation to post the depreciation using t code ABMA
Pls assign points if the information is useful to you

  • Revenue from post-capitalization from transaction ABNAN

I am working for a local governmental entity, and I am trying to add assets to our system that should have been recognized as acquisitons in previously closed fiscal years. I understand that the transaction I should be using is ABNAN, post-capitalization, however; a problem that I'm running into is, after I post the transaction and perform the next step, transaction ASKB, to post full and contra accrual account postings, I get the following error message: "Revenue from post-capitalization could not be found". We do not have that account set up, nor do we think it's applicable. These are not donated assets from outside our organization,  these are simply assets that did not get captured through our normal acquisition processess. Is there a way to run transaction ABNAN and not get this message? Might this be something that can be changed through configuration? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help and information Kartik. We are almost done with this being resolved. In the process of creating the assets using AS91 we are encountering an error message regarding the Date of the Legacy Data Transfer. This date is currently 06/30/05. Since we want to use a capitalization date of 06/30/07, is there any negative impact on changing this transfer date to 06/30/07? Changing the date in a test environment allows us to proceed but I wanted to make sure there were no negative impact since we are not familiar with the purpose of this date.

  • Group Assets Post Capitalization

    Hello Gurus,
I had attached an asset xxx to the group asset 111 for post capitalization. The closed fiscal year is 2007. The capitalization date for both the group asset 111 and the asset xxx in the asset master I had put in as 11/30/2007. now when I try and do a post capitalization in the year 2008, the system does not calculate the depreciation for the period 12 in the year 2007 to be posted as the value adjustment in the year 2008 (as yr 2007 is closed)
Where as for the other asset yyy which is not attached to the group asset, the system calculates the depreciation for period 12 and posts the amount as the value adjustment in the yr 2008.
I have checked the configuration and I does not see any thing remaining to be done. Does any one have any idea in this regard.
    Thanks
    Amit

Hello, Thanks for a quick reply, but
Few of checks you can do:
    (1) post-cap check box was checked during creating the asset xxx -
Not checked for asset yyy as well but getting calculated for it
    (2) asset xxx posted with ABNAN - Yes
    (3) correct deprec key with period control in the cap year (period control should not indicate to start depreciation from next year) - Same depreciation key for asset yyy as well, getting calculated for it
    (4) Optionally, you can post unplanned depreciation ABAA to your asset xxx for year 2007 in year 2008.- Client does not want to do that.
Please see if there is any other way
    Thanks

  • Post-capitalization vs subsequent acquisitions

    Hello everybody
What´s exactly the difference between Post capitalizations and subsequent acquisitions?
According to what I´ve read Post capitalizations are for closed fiscal years. When I´m choosing the Original Value date (ABNAN) the system sends an error message if I write a date of the current fiscal year, however, when I post the document the system changes the Original Value date to the first date of the current year. That does´t make any sense to me.
So, if it´s impossible to post with an Original Value date with a difrerent fiscal year than the posting date, why should I ever use Post-capitalizations over subsequent acquisitions?

    Dear Perumal,
Kindly do not use this forum as a document sharing forum. This query is more relevant for Asset Accounting for which we have a different forum. Kindly search for the forum before posting.

1 - Post capitalization mean you are creating the asset in the system, after it has been capitalized (put to use)
hence the depreciation on the asset needs to start from a date prior to current date
    also called the  capitalization date.
    2 - use t-code F.01

  • Post capitalization - posts to sub ledger?

    Dear Experts,
Does post capitalization transaction ABNAN posts to subledger?
When i made the posting, i have some difference between sub ledger and main ledger.
    Regards,
    Smile

    Hi Smile,
Yes it sure does because you need to provide the asset number during ABNAN. Check your aw01n for that asset and see the value of your difference between your sub & General ledgers if you find something significant there or most likely, equal to the planned values. Because, I'd rather see your problem arising on the asset value date which you have identified during ABNAN and that you need to run depreciation for that particular asset that you have capitalized. Hope this helps.

  • Depreication posted before capitalization date

    HI
I have created an asset in Oct 11 and mentioned dep start date as 01 Oct 11 and also posted capitalization date as 01 Oct 11. But when I see the planned depreciation in AW01N, the depreciation is shown from January 11 onwards and also posted depreciation in January 11.
I am in a testing phase of new rollout and tested this process in DEV client.  How to prevent this posting prior to capitalization date of asset
    Regards
    Murali

Depreciation calculation date is determined by the combination of Depreciation key and capitalization date.
In your case please check your depreciation key and change the settings accordingly.
    AFAMA - Maintain Depreciation key
    AFAMP - Period control method
Please check your period control method in AFAMA and go to AFAMP, select appropriate value for acquisition column.

  • Asset Value Date - Wrong posting

    Dear All,
Company code is on live, Assets legacy data taken as on 31st-March-09.
Later we find that some of the assets [new purchases, in previous fiscal year (2008)] was not posted.
For that recently we posted that transactions F-90 using posting date is current date and document date is Actual acquisition date.
Due to document date in previous fiscal year system taten posting date as asset value date.   So, depreciation posting missing for previous year.
I need your help.  How can I rectify this???
Other than reversing the existing posting, what is the scenario????????
    Thanx
    Regards
    partha

    Hi,
In order to post ,post capitalization please closed the previous asset accounting year.In ABNAN T.Code screen please update the original val date field with the date  of the previous year from where you need to start calculating the dep. Doc date and posting date should be of the current FY.Also check T.Code Ao90 for updating the field Revenue from post capitalization with proper GL Account.
If your statutory audit for 2008-09 is not yet completed then you can think about T.Code AS91.While  using T.Code ABNAN the following line items are generated.
    Asset        dr
    Acc Dep         cr
    Rev form post capitalization cr
The system will only calculate dep of previous year. For the current year dep which are yet to be posted will be posted in the next schedule dep posting run.
    Thanks

  • To post write up in the current fiscal year

    Hi,
I am trying to post write up in the current fiscal. However, the system is not allowed to post me. I know that the write-up needs to be posted from the next fiscal year. However, due to the requirement, we need to post in this current and switch off the message.  I have already switched off the message in OBA5, but still, I cannot proceed to post with write-up in the current year. Is there a way that I can post this.
The following are the error details.
    You cannot post write-ups
    Message no. AA400
    Diagnosis
According to the transaction type, you have to post to area 01. However, in this area, there is either no accumulated depreciation or the write-up depreciation type(s) are not managed in this area.
    Procedure
    Check the transaction type.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
A write up can only be carried out if you have cumulated depreciation   values (from previous years). In the current fiscal year depreciation  should be posted the 'normal' way. Write ups mean that too much  depreciation was posted in a previous year and that you will correct  this in the current year. Therefore, the system does not allow posting write ups if there exist no cumulative depreciation values from   previous year. In other words you cannot perform a write up  for an asset in the year of acquisition.
Also make sure that the depreciation area(s) is defined as such to  manage cumulative depreciation type or write-up depreciation type. This  should eliminate the error 'AA400'.
Following is the menu path to take:
    CU: FI-AA
         -> Transactions
         - > Define Transaction Types for
             - > post-capitalization (trans. AO77 and OAXD)
-> manual depreciation (trans. AO78 and OAXE)
For both,- select your Chart of Depr.
             - >select your Transaction Type
             -> select Depr. Area Specs.
