Post Code 9A Error, 990FXA-GD80, Bios bug

After Bios B.40 i got same strange bug, sometimes when i load a oc profile my pc get stuck at 9A error and the only thing that i can do to recovery is use ctrl+home to recovery it, clear cmos is unless.
After a lot of tests to try understand what was happening i got the answer.
My CPU is a X3 710 (waiting for bulldozers) so i always use the unlock cpu core feature. I used this x3 with unlocked core for 2 years without any problem, so the locked core is good.
If i load a oc profile with unlock cpu core feature enabled from a already unlocked stage, everyting is ok, but if my bios seting "unlock cpu core" is disabled and i load a oc profile with it enabled my pc do 6 beeps, restart and get stuck at 9A post code.
I have sure that in Bios B.30 this wasnt happening.

Guy, did u see me asking anything about overclock?
I was talking about a bios BUG that can damage the mainboard, and a lot of ppl cant recovery their bios like i did.
I posted to help ppl with same issue and alert others to avoid it.
I informed MSI about it using the right channel.

when i install windows 7 64 integral i have the problem of 16 gb memory install and 7.97 usable. i made some recherche on forum and upgrade bios of my 990fxa-gd80 V2 with the 990fxa-gd80 bios ver.11.12. Nothing change and some day later i fount a topic said the same problem of mine and in this topic said downgrade to bios of 990fxa-gd80 ver. 11.2. then the bios wont reboot.
my question is.
can i do something?
like put a seproom am3 soket and reflash my bios with 990fxa-gd80 v2 bios ?

The memory is in slots 1 & 2 as required and showing 16384GB.. 8192MB ea. Am I missing someting? I see the correct memory, and still question how the question is only 7.XX usable? Ram speed: 800.1KHz X2=DDR3 1600

I do not see a problem. Scubacads123 can you please tell me how and why you believe only 7.XX is the only usable memory? Again if you have a program that shows the amount of memory being used, and it shows only 7.XX.. that will have nothing to do with your available 16GB. Although you have 16GB installed..that is the 'Total' usable available memory..not what is being 'currently'used. When memory is installed..it is not all used, at all times. Possiblt only 3.XXGB.. on a 32bit OS could be maxed out, on a constant basis. It is possible..unless you do CAD or another demanding program that you may 'never' use all the 16GB. That is not a bad thing. Head room is a good thing.

990FXA-GD80 bios code error 54

Hi there.
My old motherboard (an Asus Crosshair II Formula) got berserk some days ago and I switched to a new 990FXA-GD80 Military class II.
Well, I cannot pass boot up because the motherboard stops at the ram check level giving me an error "54" message.
Tried everything to no avail (clearing CMOS, swapping here and there ram sticks, no sas controller installed)
The only thing I've not tried yet is changing the cpu (will try tomorrow).
My config specs:
CPU: Phenom II X4 905e Deneb HD905EOCK4DGI 65W
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Low profile CML16GX3M4X1600C7 16GB (4X4GB) 1600Mhz
HDD: Corsair Neutron SSD 128GB
HDD2: Seagate 2,5" 1TB sata
Controller: Adaptec 51245 Sas controller
VGA: Msi based on some Amd chipset (cannot remember)
PSU: Cooler master 1.000 W
At first I thought it was some sort of compatibility problem between ram and motherboard but as I see on the web Corsair Vengeance is supported, so I'm starting to think it's a faulty motherboard (unless the CPU is gone mad too).
Every component was perfectly running before the old motherboard fried.

I am having nearly the same problem as gnoppi, except I get 3 beeps & error code 19 first for just a couple of seconds, then it changes to code 54. Like gnoppi, I also just converted over from a ASUS DDR2 MB (M2N32-SLI Deluxe) to this 990FXA-GD80 MB. I've tried eveything mentioned on this board, and even bought a common model PNY 4gb (PC3-10666) RAM stick to try out, but it still does the same. I read from another post here (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=153161.0) that error 19 could indicate that the bios needs updated for your CPU, but my CPU is a fairly common model AMD Phenom X4 945, & it worked ok on the old ASUS MB. I've also try disconnecting absolutely everything one at a time, including the main hard drive, monitor, & video boards (everything except the CPU), but I always get the exact same error code sequence. Does anyone have any suggestions before I start messing with the CPU?

990FXA-GD80 BIOS update failure POST F2 + 26, 36, 19, F9

Hoping to get some help here I've seen some great people that I am hoping will know any other tricks to help possibly save my motherboard. It's my first build and everything was running beautifully, and unfortunately the last thing I decided to do was update my BIOS to the newest version... I just ran the downloaded version, installed and restarted, upon restart I get nothing on screen. POST error code just says F2.
I have been Googling for a couple of days and tried a lot, most of the time I was forwarded to this great forum where people had similar problems but for me to no avail. I have tried the following:
- reset CMOS
- Disconnect PSU
- Make formatted USB with versions (I tried all of them, including them in folders + zip)
- Left x1 RAM in fourth slot
When I put a USB with a BIOS driver in it the POST LED error code just gives F2 (and unpredictably sometimes 36 comes up ). The USB LED just flashes, I've tried this multiple times for up to an hour at most. Secondly when there is no USB drive inside the POST LED seems to go on a loop of codes... here they are (not sure of right order)... 19, 26, 36, F9, F2... when doing this the red LED next to it flashes and so does the DDR_PHASE +2 LED
Sorry if this is a recurring problem that you've seen a lot (I know Svet has!) but I would really appreciate the help. I know a lot of you will say it is bricked but surely there is something I can do... I love this mobo and I will not let her die!

I'm doing that now, just plugged in USB and turned on, USB LED is flickering, and POST is just on F2... seems like the same drama as the rest, I will leave it on that for now, how long do you recommend? Also, the middle part of the motherboard (the metal part where it says OC Genie II) gets really hot, is that normal? I have a home office fan on it now with the case open to keep it cool, I don't know if it was like that when everything was running smoothly (in the good old days lol).

990FXA-GD80 BIOS POST Loop

I purchased this board last month and ive had a possible bios bug pop up.
If i reset or reboot my system, the bios gets stuck in a post loop
FF > b4 > 19
and it repeats until i power cycle it, which is when it screams overclock settings failed.
Spec:
AMD FX-8320 @ 4.00GHz
BIOS: 11.13
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2x 4GB

I have the same issue. I cleared the cmos (via the button and then via the battery pull)
I can start one time, get all the way to the Win7 login screen. Then I shutdown, try to restart and my MB shows the following message:
2b->FF->19, blinking very rapidly. The DDR_Phase 2 light also blinks.
THe only way I can reboot is to clear the CMOS and start again
as I was writing this, about 2 mins passed an the computer restarted.
I tried putting windows in hibernate mode, and again, the system restarted after a pause and the same symptoms.
When running, a small red LED light blinks sporadically to the left of the JFP2 panel (left of the debug box). The DDR_Phase 2 light is now solid

Issue Regarding 990FXA-GD80 BIOS flash

Hello all
This is my first post, so please bear with me if i do not include everything needed. Also, this forum looks very informative and helpful from what I've seen. My gratitude extends to all that help out!
I am having trouble flashing the BIOS on the 990FXA-GD80 mobo. I am currently running v11.12 (7640vBC) and I am trying to upgrade to v11.14 (7640vBE7 or any BE for that matter). Thus far, i have tried BE7 as well as BE6
For BE7:
I used the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool and all goes well with that part of the process and is performed successfully. I clear the CMOS properly (disconnect power cord, hold button for 5 seconds, remove battery, hold down power button)
After booting back up, I load default settings in the BIOS, yet the BIOS version stays at v11.12 and I have no clue as to why.
Is there a Boot Sector Protection that I may be overlooking? I didn't see that type of option in the BIOS
I then tried to update to BE6:
I haven't actually successfully flashed to this beta whatsoever, because when I do boot up with the usb and try it, this message comes up:
PI Version in SYS ROM mismatched PI Version in ROM File!
Force update it may be destroy the system BIOS
We do not recommend flashing your BIOS
after seeing this message, I did not go forward with it.
Please help in this matter, as this is my first attempt at trying to flash my bios

990FXA-GD80 Bios question

AMD Announced a few years ago that the GD80 would have support for the FX9000 series processors.
So far the bios 13.5 and Compatibility list shows it doesnt.
So has MSI given up and not going to release a bios?
If this is the case shouldnt it be announced after all in the UK to adverise something that doesnt happen is illegal and against the trades description act and sales of goods act if u are advertising it will do something but doesnt.

Previous threads within the AMD section confirm that it does work as long as the BIOS is up to date. Just a bit of searching in the AMD threads will find you people that use it.
Further, some checks on the release date show the FX9xxx processors as first half of 2013.
Just a quick check in the BIOS releases for the board indicate clearly the BIOS updates during 2013 to accommodate the new processors, i.e. - Update CPU AGESA code.
No reason whatsoever that the entrusted MSI people on the forum cannot find the information if they intend to help.

"Post code Incorrect" error while Posting Invoice !!

While posting an invoice for a PO , using transaction MIRO , I'm getting the error message as " Post code incorrect - please check document header field".
Any help on this is highly appreciated.

If a postal code is correct or not is defined in rules set in county definition. Here the length and certain other criterias can be checked. SAP programs the logic based, you choice is to do the checks or not
So somebody might have changed the customizing after the vendor was created.
I guess you get the same error if you go in cahnge mode into the vendor master and change any field and try to save.

990FXA-GD80 BIOS Update & Compatibility

Hi there!
I've a 990FXA-GD80 v1 with a Phenom II x4 965BE (125W) on a v11.13 BIOS.
With this in mind, I need to do a format & reinstall windows. I'm currently using windows 7 and will remain using it. I've noticed there's 2 official BIOS updates ( v13.3 and v13.4 ) that repeatedly indicates:
* MSI recommend you to update BIOS only if you are using Windows8.
* There is no way to reflash back to BIOS version Bxx if you already updated to version Dxx.
So my first question goes to... is even worth the trouble of updating the BIOS ? What could I benefit from the update ?
My second question goes to a possible future HW upgrade of the CPU.
I was thinking about buying the FX-8350 or wait 'till the end of the year and go for the FX-9590 so I went to the MSI website to look for the CPU compatibility list and found out that the top of the line in FX based CPU is the FX-8300.
What gives? Is it just incomplete? Or will I have to change the motherboard too ?

I changed from to 13.x because with 11.13 it wasn´t possible to set RAM to 2133 MHz. With 13.x it´s possible, when using an FX-CPU.

Probably won't be much help but I have the 990FXA-GD80 + AMD8350 and it's running 4.4GHz. Odd thing is a mate of mine bought the parts and slapped it together with NO overclocking??

990FXA-GD80 bios 13.5 issues

Is there any news on a bios update? My 13.5 bios is no longer recognizing my ram as 1866mhz but as 1600mhz and nothing I do can change it back to 1866.

Its been a while since I've been on the forum.
So here's my problem, I just started up my rig for the first time in about 8 months, worked fine before, now it does not even post to bios, had to pull a single stick of ram out and then it fired up no prob. So then I returned to bios and it was showing that the dram freq. was down to 800mhz. Now if memory serves me correctly the dram freq was at 1600mhz back 8 months ago with all slots populated.
So from what I have read here at MSI and elsewhere on the net it seems that I could probably use a bios update. But I'm a little hesitant on what version I should use based on what I have read and the results of some others experimentation.
I would like it if someone could provide me with some more incite into this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I'm sorry...I forgot to tell ya that this is a stock setup for now...No OC'ing has been done yet....still learning and reading up on that.

Another 990FXA-GD80 bios question..

My CPU is an FX-8150.. I have been under the impression that the Bios releases of: 13/3-13/4 were for 'Vishera' and Win8.
Now I'm reading posts that suggest the upgrade for FX-8350. And we all know it's states 'no return' once you accept and install the 13:XXv. bios releases, no going back to the 11:XXv.
Is there a benefit for me to upgrade? Yea, I read the info...I'm 11:12v and I have 11:13 ready to go... suggestions? Should I make the jump... move up to the no return bios.

I changed to 13.x because with 11.x it isn´t possible to set RAM to 2133 MHz in BIOS. The first 13.x-Versions had problems, that´s why you don´t find no 13.1 and 13.2 on MSI-Homepage. With the new 13.5B1/B2 Beta-BIOS-Versions you get a better BIOS than 11.13: Support for 2133 MHz Ram, and support for the newest AMD-CPUs.

990FXA-GD80 Bios problem for FX-6300

What Bios should I have? I bought the Sempron 145 only to post and install OS. Mobo does not read FX-6300

MSI 990FXA-GD80 Bios upgrade

I'm running one of these boards using windows 7 pro x64atm.
My question is simply all the new bio's state "* MSI recommend you to update BIOS only if you are using Windows8."
if i wanna upgrade the bios for a new CPU does this mean that it wont work for windows 7?

No. I recommend using the newest available BIOS on this board. Windows 8 has features that require newer BIOS on some boards for full functionality.
