Post error: Primary IDE 80 No Conductor cable

I need to know what this error message means and how it is corrected:
During the Post, the BIOS recognizes my hard drive then I see this message
Primary IDE 80 No Conductor Cable
I have just finished installing a Maxtor Diamond 7200 40GB hard drive.  I have also updated my BIOS to 3.50.
I can't find this message in any trouble-shooting manuals.
Any help is appreciated.

i have a KT4 Ultra (plain) and i'm getting the same post error, i did as said by purchasing cables that specifically said they were 80 conductor and i am still receiving the message. on to of this i am also getting a post beep saying that there is a memory refresh error. also, i'm not sure if any of this is related, but i am also getting bluescreen errors during the installation of windows xp. the two errors i have received thus far are, IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0X0000000A (0X00000060, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X807CE5EA) and CDFS_FILE_SYSTEM 0X00000026 (0X000401F4, 0XF80CB900, 0XF80CB600, 0XF8696021O).
my sys config is as follows:
420 watt psu
amd athlon xp 2000+ @ 133
512 ddr pc2700 @ 333
ibm  deskstar 40gb hd primary master
creative 12x dvd rom primary slave
sony dru-500a dvd ±r/±rw secondary master
seagate 2gb hd secondary slave
3d prophet 3 video card
sound blaster live 5.1 platinum sound card
as of now my only conclusion is a faulty main board.

    Hello,
Almost all new motherboards today only have a primary ide channel and the rest are SATA.
I need inputs regarding the dvd drive which is shown in device manager as located on the primary ide channel while the hard drive is located on the secondary channel. Because I would like to update the dvd drive to the latest firmware (version 1.06; to be able to recognize more blank media) but the LG site recommends that the drive (dvd) be located on the secondary ide channel.
I already tried to uninstall every channel from the device manager but all would still be the same after reboot, dvd drive on primary, hard drive on secondary.
Current ide mode in BIOS is set to AHCI+IDE mode, DMA modes are fine (UDMA4 for dvd, UDMA5 for hard drive), boot sequence (1st=HD, 2nd=DVD, 3rd=Floppy drive)
Tried switching to IDE mode only in BIOS but would not detect the optical drive. Never tried RAID+IDE mode since I only have a single hard drive.
I'm not sure but if I try to update the firmware, it might instead try to update the hard drive's firmware instead of the optical drive and make the hard drive unusable.
I would like to know if anybody with this same situation was able to successfully update the optical drive's firmware or is there some way to place the optical drive on the secondary ide channel and the hard drive on primary for me to follow and replicate the process.
    Thank you for any replies.

Thanks sir NovJoe for the reply.
Just received the solution from another forum where I posted the same problem.
They said that the flash program for the firmware will detect the drive on its own and would not flash other devices except the optical drive itself. So its pretty safe, and I can confirm this since I just flashed my ODD a little over a while ago and everything went fine. No errors.
Though I'm speaking for the brand of ODD I own and may be different for other brands so take precautions as well. It may be different for the others.

  • Dual boot enviorment on primary IDE channel Diamond Plus tried everything!!

Whats up everybody? For some reason I am unable to achieve a dual boot enviorment on my primary IDE channel! I have tried numerous things and for the life of me I cant get it to work! I just bout a new Hitachi 250 gb ultra ata 133 drive and it works great I formatted it by itself with no other drives present and ony one of my optical drives hooked up. Runs great but as soon as I hook up my Hitachi 160 gb ata100 drive and try to boot from  the 160 gb drive I get a message that states windows cannot complete youre request the boot ini file is missing or corrupt! So I reformatted that drive with the same proceedure with complete success loaded all of my drivers and updates made sure everthing was fine double checked my bios settings powered down and hooked everything back up the new 250 gb Hitachi is faster so it is allocated as the master on the cable  in relation with jumper settings and the 160 gb ATA100 Hitachi Drive is of course set on the slave hook up with cable and jumpers. What gives????  I have 2 western Digital Sata 2 drives in raid 0  and I can get them to boot in a multiboot enviorment!!!!!    Is anyone else haveing this kind of problem with IDE drives? Is this a protocol developed by mother board manurefacturers too phase out PATA DRIVES?  Please if anyone else is have this problem respond to this post.

    Hi, Bas
I have tried doing that and I get the same thing when I originally got the new Hitachi drive I put that on master and put the other one on slave already formatted does shiffting the c:\ drive to slave make that kind of impact?  Also why is the formatte process for sata successful and the IDE is not? Its recommended on these forums that every time you ad a os you should remove all drives that has windows already installed ,does that apply only to sata drives?

  • [915 Series] BIOS INDICATES MASTER DRIVE ON PRIMARY IDE IS ON THIRD IDE MASTER

Hope someone can explain this one...
I have one hard drive installed on the primary ide channel of the motherboard and the bios recognizes it at the master on the third ide channel.
Specs: Intel P4 3.0 (LGA 775) Prescott on a MSI 915P/G Combo motherboard w/1gig of ram.
Setup: Three ide channels (connectors) on the motherboard...primary (blue), secondary and third (yellow)
My hard drive is connected to the primary (blue) and jumped as master, optical drives are on the second and third channels both jumped as masters (because they're on seperate channels, no sharing of the cables)
When I First installed the hard drive, without the optical drive installed yet, the bios said it was on the third channel and set as master even though it was installed on the primary (first channel) with nothing installed on the first or second channels....after I installed the optical drives on the second and third channels....the bios still shows the hard drive installed as the third, with nothing on the first and second channels.
I have the lates bios and drivers installed and Windows XP shows the hard drive as disk 0 (first).
I have built enough systems and installed many hard drives to see this is not normal and I think this has to do with why my system is going through an abnormally slow boot proccess (my emachine celeron 1.8 with half the memory is booting about twice as fast...emachine faster with more startup programs running....this is just wrong...lol)
If anyone has an explanation or solution for this...please reply...thank you.

Get your motherboard manual and look at the IDE ports you put in, they belong to the external embedded IDE RAID VIA6410 controller.
First thing first, you need to enable VIA6410 as IDE (not RAID) in your BIOS. It may NOT support Optical drives. If it can, then it's good. But if really cannot, then you have to share your optical drives with one cable on the "IDE3" which your HDD is currently resided. And, put your HDD at either of the 2 IDEs of VIA6410.
Now... the reason why your HDD is in IDE3 because SATA 1,2,3,4 are taking the IDE1 and IDE2.

  • GR/IR Posting Error CKMLGRIR025 - Purchase Order History Inconsistent

    Hi Everyone.
We currently have a posting in our GRIR for a Feright Condition Value against a Purchase Order which gets the above error when trying to post in MR11.
The Diagnosis of the error reads:
"The purchase order history contains differences between the goods receipt and invoice receipts/Account maintenance for the order item in the field Difference Quantitiy (= 43.804 TO) and Difference Value (= -342.77)
The purchase order history for this tiem is inconsistent"
When looking at this Freight Condition information in the Purchase Order I can not see why this item has resulted in this error in MR11.
Has anyone else seen this error come through in their system, and do you have any ideas on how to fix this.
    Thanks
    Hayley

We are experiencing the same issue with the GRIR Posting Error CKMLGRIR025 - puchase order history inconsistent.  The actual message that we receive is Puchase Order history already inconsistent -->Quantity 1.00 EA Value 0.65-USD.
We reviewed SAP Note 708649 which also recommends using transaction MIRO with the corresponding default quantity and value o.  However, we are not able to enter an Invoice for the "default qty & value 0", as SAP gives me error message M8278 "You are not allowed to have zero lines" (just like Haley commented).  In reviewing this thread, I did not find the solution to the error message M8278 "You are not allowed to have zero lines" .  Could someone help me understand?
    Thank you!

when I try to export a photo to my desktop I get the followiing error message "Export Versions Complete with Errors" any ideas why?

Have you tried to export different images as a test to see if it is related to the one you are getting the error on? Also try to export to a different folder other then the Desktop, again to see if the problem is connected to that folder.
Another thing to do is run the Aperture Library First Aid on the library. Hold the option and command keys down while you start Aperture. First run the Permission Repair and see if that helps. If not quit Aperture and restart and run the Library Repair and try.

  • MSI X79-GD65(8D) gives a posting error 63 Late CPU Initialize

    Hey Guys.
I have recently purchased new hardware.
    MSI X79-GD65(8D) Motherboard
    Intel i7 3820 CPU
    4 X Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3-1600 RAM
    MSI GTX660Ti Power edition GPU
    Corsair 750W Professional series PSU
    Corsair H80 CPU Cooler
I haven't overclocked ht e mobo, but on cold boot, the mobo doesn't initialize, gives a post error 63, refered to the mobo manual, it says it means late CPU initialize. Checked the BIOS, running version 1.7 and according to MSI download site for the CPU support list.
The memory is in quad channel as it shows in a diagram in the mobo manual. If I switch the pc off, and back on, it initializes and boots, the pc runs stable, it can run 48 hours no hassle, passes burn in tests to, just the first cold boot doesn't initialize.
Any ideas for what to look at would be great.
    Thank you.

A little hint for you: Don't try any of the .1B betas as they run horrible. I had to remove the latest .1B3 as it bricked the board and had to be recovered.
1.18 B7 is still the best bios to use:

I'd suggest the later Bios 1.18 B7 which I'm also using with the i7-3820 (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=154186.msg1192427#msg1192427)

  • Help: POST error 0167 after upgrade

    Hi all,
I have a Thinkcentre A55 (9641A45) and I am trying to update it.
I have replaced the original Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8 Ghz) CPU with a newer E4700 (2.6 Ghz) cpu. The Intel 946GZ chipset is compatible so this shouldn't be a problem.
Half-way through the startup I got the "POST Error 0167: no processor BIOS found" message. after a few seconds the startup continues with no other errors.
However, when I check the processor it is running permanently at half speed (1.3 Ghz).
I try going into the BIOS (I have the latest that Lenovo has provided) to see the CPU settings but the advanced settings are hidden.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Just a thought, have you tried to reset the bios? Take out the battery on the motherboard for about 15 mins and put it back in then see if  you can access the BIOS settings. Make sure you have a copy of what settings you have in the BIOS though.

  • Satellite Pro 4330: Error code IDE #1 error

    Hello
I got old satellite pro 4330 but I got the error code IDE #1 Error, what can I do? I need help please!
    Thanx

    Hi!
Yes, Markus77 is on the right track.
But, I would simply guess the CD-ROM drive is somehow out-of-order or broken, and that's why the Laptop has been available (hopefully not for sale for too many bucks ...)
One simple repair trial could be to open the Laptop and take the CD drive out of its bay and cable connector, clean them and place back carefully, and if lucky enough, it may wake-up for the BIOS, or maybe not ...
    Best regards,
    Pete V.

when I open a raw file (NEF Nikon 7100)  and apply setting then click save, I get an error ( could not complete your request because of a program error ). Ideas?

    Oh, dear.
If you use PSE as your external editor for iphoto, you need to save the images back to iphoto by using Save, not Save As and not changing anything like the name or format that would bring up the Save As window. (You may need to adjust the editor prefs>saving files>on first save to save over existing.)
OR you can export the photos from iphoto to the desktop, use file>open in the editor and then change whatever you want and either import the saved image to the organizer or import it back to iphoto as a new file. What you are doing is extremely risky, particularly to the iphoto library which you may easily damage by your workflow.
I would start the organizer holding down the shift key, then create a new catalog and switch to the new one. Then try opening the editor without opening an image and see if you get any farther.
PSE and iphoto are not designed to be used as you've been doing. You are trying to write to the iphoto library from outside iphoto, which is the fastest known way to corrupt the library and lose all your photos.

  • PRIMARY IDE not working after flash

    Hi ,
i recently had some freezing and restart problems while using turbo and ultra turbo modes ,as my memory timngs were different i used a setting of CL 2,3,3,5,8
V 2.70 ...it used to run fine till i got some freezes and restarts ...at the moment it now runs normally with the above timings V @ 2.70 ..turbo mode and OC set to private or dusabled in bios ...no freezes...basically have tried most possible options..i now dont OC to anything above private because i use the stock heatsink and no cooling whatsoever...i can use the RAM in TURBO and ULTRA-TURBO modes ...anyway my problem is that LIVE MONITOR-LIVE UPDATE (auto search) was freezing and not detecting my bios version ..it still freezes at "processing" ...so recently i tried a flash through windows...the startup and other utilities show the bios version etc ok as AMI  V2.5 ...the bios flash seemed ok and everything else seems to be working fine ..but now my IDE MASTER doesnt work correctly i have 2 DVD RW drives and two hard drives ....when i connect any two of the drives on the SECONDARY IDE in any combination the system boots ok but when i try to connect all four (two dvd/cd's and two HD ) ..the startup feezes after recognizing the secondary and in fact even one CD drive on the primary ..but then the boot sequence freezes..it doesnt show the second drive..and the D-BRACKET LED's freezes at "initializing floppy drive controller" EVERYTIME and the system will not boot...i have tried a reflash..same story...i cannot get the PRIMARY IDE to work....has it failed ? ....thanks in advance

tried flashing to older version 2.4 that didnt work ...flashed back to version 2.5 ...still wont work ....boot sequence freezes at the same point..wont go beyong detecting one drive on primary ,no problems on secondary.....also the strange thing is that live monitor cannot detect and stops at   "search mainboard bios version " and wont go beyond that ,but working through live update 3 (newest) the bios version is shown...i have been flashing through windows  should i try through DOS/Floppy ?
