The OBIEE doc should cover this question, but I suspect it's not all in one place.
In short, there are five ways in which you can interact with data on a map view in OBIEE:
1. The native MapViewer provided interactivity, of which a subset is exposed in OBIEE Map Views, such as zooming and panning.
2. The ability to click on a BI layer/format and perform actions. The first action is a drill. You can do a column drill or filtered drill on a BI column. For example, if you are looking at sales by country, clicking on a country like USA will display a formatted popup, from which you can choose to drill down Country to the State level, or you can click the USA value and do a filtered drill down to states only for USA.
3. The second type of action is a master-detail event. Clicking on the USA value in the above example, if the Map View is setup to send master-detail type of events, will send an event on a specified channel with the value USA to listening detail views. This could cause a Table to display data for USA, and a Chart to display data for USA. Map Views can only send master events in 11g, not respond to master events.
4. The third type of action is an Action link. This allows you to navigate to a different Dashboard page, or open a different Analysis, or navigate to a web page, or even invoke a server action like invoking a web service, or a BPEL process, or a Java method, and pass along any context that you can from the Map View, like the column value that was clicked.
5. The last way is you can interact with data on a Map View is by Dashboard prompts. Dashboard prompts can filter the data on all views on a Dashboard page, and Map Views, by virtue of being first-class objects within the OBIEE world, can respond to such prompts. Therefore, you can specify a threshold of a metric like SALES and the Map View will display data for only those entities that meet the specified filter criteria.
Once the spatial data to BI metadata mapping has been done in OBIEE Administration, there is no other mapping that needs to be done to make Map Views interact with data. There is no custom code to be written.

I think here you want take some input from the user and write it in a file which resides on the sever.
By opening an URL to a file you can only read the contents of that file, you can write any contents to it or append it.
So as you said either you have to have a
1. CGI script
2. Socket connection or
3. Servlet
on the server.
In the case of CGI script and Servlet you can use URL but in case of Socket Server you need to implement a socket client in your client application.

IMovie and external hard drive: follow up question
This is a follow up question from the iMovie 6 forum. Hopefully, this question will help the poster on that forum as well. I, too, am working on multiple iMovie 5.0.2 projects at the same time and am running out of hard disk space. I would like to transfer remaining miniDV tape to an external hard drive and, when finished, transfer these clips from the external hard drive to the current iMovie project in my Powerbook, one project at a time. Is this possible ? Will I transfer files from the external hard drive to the Powerbook hard drive and then to iMovie, or directly from the external hard drive to iMovie ? Do I have to format the external drive to Mac OS Extended as advised in iMovie 6 forum in order to transfer miniDV tape to the external hard drive ? When pressing the erase tab to format the external hard drive, will this erase files already on the hard drive before formatting ? Can I transfer projects I am not working on from iMovie to the external hard drive and then transfer them back to the Powerbook when it is time to work on them ? Sorry about all the questions but I need to think very simple-minded when it comes to computer related issues. Thanks for your help.
I was able to use and store iMovie in the external hard drive using my Powerbook as a monitor, so I presume it is formatted correctly
Sorry, but you cannot assume the drive is formatted correctly. iMovie doesn't tell you the drive format is incompatible with iMovie. (it should, but it doesn't.) Some iMovie project features can be saved and some cannot.
It's easy to check the disk format. In the Finder, click on the drive icon and choose File > Get Info from the Finder menubar. The window that opens shows the disk Format. You want it to say "Mac OS Extended". "(Journaled)" is optional.
With some drives, sometimes even that can be wrong. To be sure, use Disk Utility to check the format. When you click on the drive in the list along the left side of the Disk Utility window, the format is displayed at the bottom of the window.
Always, always, always check the disk format before using a drive with iMovie.

Why can't I post a question from my new system?
Hello All:
I was just trying to post a question from my new mbp but it wouldn't allow me to do anything. It continually gave me a message highlighted in 'red' that i was;t allowed to modify or post anything. I've been asking questions for quite a while and have never seen this. I also happen to have my older bmp, also logged onto the 'Apple Discussions' site, open beside me. Can anyone explain this to me please? BTW, my new system obviously has Yosemite on it while my older bmp has Lion. Thanks in advance, to all those who respond.

2) Block the automatic 30 minute logout.
Unless you do something every thirty minutes you get logged out. The forum software waits to tell you this as long as it can to keep you in suspense ;-) . Filling out a reply is the exception to the thirty minute window.

Reply technique
Open a new browser window. Pick some discussion. Open a reply window. As long as this reply window is open, you will stay logged in. The 30 minute times is reset as needed by the ASC software.
3) I open another window to do my normal ASC browsing.
4) I have a FireFox bookmark to goto the discussions that I have participated in. I've modified it to add on the content stuff.

Pretest score normally is not sent to the LMS. However it is stored in a system variable, you could use JS to send it.

Whenever you have a question that you would like answered, do pose that question effectively.
First, do not assume that because you have tried many, many times that your question is understood by someone else. What is obvious to you may not be for another. So please state in a very detailed and structured way what steps you have taken to cause your problem, how you can replicate this problem, under what circumstances on what hardware/software.

Use the FAQ and the Wiki to find answers to questions that have been posed and answered repeatedly. Do not assume you are unique with your problem. Well, you are unique, the problem you have most likely is not.
Fourth, realize that even though it may be highly frustrating to you to not be able to solve YOUR problem, by posting your question here, you are dependent on fellow editors to help you on their free time without compensation, so bear with them to help identify what EXACTLY is your problem. If you lack that decency, you may forfeit their help, so why did you come here?
Fifth, consider your work flow in light of the purpose of Premiere, an editing package. If you have problems with rotoscoping, programming with APL, spreadsheets in general, word processing on a mobile phone, importing Panda bears into a local zoo, feeding nearly distinct whales in the Alps, or anything far removed from the purpose of PP, you may be better off in posting your question elsewhere.

I know I have been rightly accused of such behavior, which was the result of sheer frustration with absolutely meaningless and often pointless questions without details, structure and the like. Maybe this can be a general guideline for posters on how to ask questions, in addition to Eddie's links and How to ask questions the smart way
The most frustrating issues one can encounter are hangs, BSOD's (blue screens of death), system errors and other cases of seemingly random erros that require rebooting, restarting or similar actions, only to be confronted with the next hang, BSOD or system crash.
These errors are often difficult to locate, due to the large variety of systems, components and driver or software versions in use. This is often further aggravated by sheer lack of expertise, understanding of what needs to be communicated in order for others to help solve the issue at hand. And that list is very long.
So, in order to make it a bit simpler for the average user who encounters these problems, follow the following steps when posting a problem:
1. Clearly describe the main problem in the topic, but be brief. Not so brief as to only say: "Help!" or "URGENT" or another meaningless statement but get to the point, like: "PP crashes on opening, requiring a reboot" or "Using DL the system hangs upon return to PP". You get the point.
2. Briefly describe your hardware, software, OS and versions in use, including disk setup, video card and driver versions, etc.
3. Describe source material, including codec (not AVI, which is not a codec), project settings and other relevant info.
4. Describe as accurately as possible what you did, what steps you took, what happened at what moment and what you did to try to resolve it.
5. Go to Start/Run, type in DXDIAG, enter and save all information to a TXT file. Include a link to that file in your post.
6. Go to Start/Run, type in MSINFO32 (or similar for 64 bit OS), enter and save the results as a .NFO file. Include a link to that file in your post.
7. Download Process Explorer , and either post a screen shot or a link to the results.
8. Make a screen shot of the results of SpeedFan or HW Monitor and include that in your post.
When you perform these basic steps, you avoid endless questions about your system and people may be able to help you faster.
If you feel up to it, take a look at The Case of the Unexplained to start your own troubleshooting.

Follow up question about image not looking good in canvas-Shane?
I guess this is a follow up question for Shane....
You wrote this in response to someone a year ago which helped me out.
Shane's Stock Answer #49 - Why is the quality different between what I see in the Viewer and what I see in the Canvas?
Well... the viewer is just that-- a viewer. It will display anything that fcp will recognize as usable video or graphics. The canvas is a viewer too, but at the pixel dimension specified by the settings of your project and sequence.
For example, if your graphic or footage is much higher resolution than your 720x480 DV sequence, FCP is interpolating down your file to fit the settings of the sequence. Usually this makes it look not so hot. DV is a 5:1 compression working with a 4:1:1 color depth. Your pristine picture images and graphics are being crushed.
Same with picture files. HIgh res pics now adopt the sequence settings and will render to those specs, and most likely they are not as high quality.
So, based on your answer, I made an HDV sequence, dropped my DVCPro50-NTSC footage and my tiffs into the sequence and now the stills look great. Is this an okay workaround or do you have another suggestion? I'm worried about this HD sequence taking too long to make a compressed QT from in the end.
Thanks!Photo JPEG is a good option. But this all depends on what your final output will be. If you are going to make a DVD, then that is SD, so using an HD sequence setting makes no sense. Photo JPEG is good, but not realtime in FCP. DV50 or ProRes NTSC are good options.
Unless you are making an HD master...in which case ProRes 422 for HD is good -
I just purchased a Airport Extreme from the Apple Store yesterday. I purchased it to extend/share my iPhone 5 hotspot. I have figured out how to have AEBS join my hotspot, but it does not seem to have access on the Ethernet ports in the back?? This is my needed feature, unfortunately I live in an area that only offers DSL and only 2.5mbps.. . Using my phone I'm able to receive 10-20mbps on LTE/4G, and fortunately for me I have unlimited data on my hotspot. So I'm set for the wireless devices in my home, but struggling getting wired devices working....
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

No, only the AirPort Express. There are 2 Ethernet ports on the Express. If you need more, you can add an Ethernet switch.
The Express has a special feature called ProxySTA that allows it to join a network and the Ethernet ports will be enabled when it does this.
Might be fun to ask one of the sales guys what exactly ProxySTA is and what it does before you explain it to them. Even the "genius" may not know.

Follow Up Question----
I asked the apple salesperson about proxySTA, first I got a blank stare then, some nonsense to attempt they knew what it was.
So I picked up the Express, set it up to join my hotspot and it works really well!!! The only problem is the hotspot only allows five connections. The express eats one, that only leaves four! Is there another way to set up the express so it can handle the dhcp so my hotspot only sees the one connection to the express??

TimNow please perform a hard reset on the second Express by holding in the reset button for 10 seconds, then release. Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Make sure that the Ethernet connection from the first "joining" Express goes to the WAN "O" port on the second Express creating a wireless network.
Don't worry about the Double NAT message for now, just make sure that you can now log on to the Internet through the second Express wireless network.
You may need to power off both Express devices and restart the "joining" Express first, then start up the "creating" Express.
Once you verify that everything is working, you can go back in using AirPort Utillty and click to ignore the Double NAT so that a green light will be displayed on the second Express. -

I have recently picked up an Apple TV. When I go to the movies tab, there less movies available there than what is available in my i-Tunes library. I have 38 movies showing in my library but only 23 are showing in the Movies tab on the Apple TV. After researching this a little, there are only 23 movies showing under Purchased in the Quicklinks of my i-Tunes account. The majority of my collection are digital copy downloads that came from DVD purchases. Some of the missing movies were added in the past couple of months, the rest are a year-or-so old. I have done some looking around at questions from others, but I have not found an answer that will fix my situation. How do I update my library to get ALL of my movies to reflect that they were "Purchased"(as it says they were in their Properties)?

Thank you for that post, and the advice. I just happen to be one of those who it does work for. I've been around long enough to know that CC isn't going to work for everyone(the large publishing/radio/web company I work for isn't upgrading to CC because of the costs involved). But it does for me as I potentially venture out into the full-time freelancing world and away from the more structured big office environment. I can't make decisions based on what is best for anyone else, or what will hurt or help Adobe. Just what affects me, and that's all.

Try to force the headlineThe remote db is accessible from 6 am to 6 pm. When querring longer than given time span I get the Error ORA-02068. In the sqlerm for this Error is a second Errormessage from an second different Error concatenated.
Now I will tell what I think is happening:
I think the remote db say: >>I will go sleep now<< an throws Error A (ORA-01089 (or ORA-03113, or what else)). This Error A goes to the local db. The local db get the Error A and throw a new Error (Error B = ORA-02068). This Error B is independet from Error A. And I see a String which is "Error B + Error A"
I recieve also three possible Errormessages:
ORA-02068: following severe error from DBLINK
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
ORA-02068: following severe error from DBLINK_ODS_STBY
ORA-01089: immediate shutdown in progress - no operations are permitted

Intrigued by Tuttle's new attempt to join Niel's old habit to keep his own total number of posts count, I went and start counting my posts since the New Discussions. Because I saved my latest Old Discussions Post-and-Points info, I can see what are the previously-still-online ones (the pre- 14-Nov-2005 01:31 GMT ones), and I know exactly what was my "real" total number of posts before 14-Nov-2005 (2446).
My New Discussions posts number however, is quite uncertain.
Firstly, when I use the "My Posts" link on the right, then clicking on and on on the "Next" link,
my "Viewing 91-100 of 586 -- Pages" shows 91-99 instead of 91-100
(= should show 10 posts, shows 9 posts)
then I go on clicking Next Next Next, and I see the same missing counts happen elsewhere:
my posts number 100, 259, 260, 370, 390, 520, 558, 559, 560, 578, 579, and 580 are missing too.
Note that I wouldn't bother doing all this, and I would have thought it's just very old posts that are automatically deleted like in the Old Discussions,
BUT,
the problem is that when I choose to see all my posts together on the same page
(by using the start=0&range=600 suffix in the URL)
I get a total number of posts that is different (570).
A third way to quickly see all posts without having to load too big page
(using the start=0&range=300 suffix in the URL then only one "Next" click)
shows yet another, different again, number of total posts (573).
And my "official" total number of posts is (586).

I thought the Total Posts number that we see in "My Public Profile" or under the avatar in each post (586), was only the number of posts still online.
- if it is the case, then there are no automatically deleted old posts anymore?
- if old posts are automatically deleted like before, this number should vary?
- if it doesn't vary (it just grows by one per new post), AND at the same time old posts are actually automatically deleted,
it has to show the "real" total number of posts then,
(as it is now, a total starting from the Old-Discussions-still-online-posts, it makes no sense),
that is,
the total posts in the New Discussions PLUS the total posts since first registration in the Old Discussions.
So,
2) What does it show exactly?

after I posted my "#221/2667 post" (11-Dec-2005 21:51 GMT), my originally missing #
259, 260, 370, 390, 520, 558, 559, 560, 578, 579, and 580
should have become

right? (forget the #100: this one we know for sure it's a bug)
Or if the software counts them from the first (now that would have been a good start) instead of starting from the most recent,
they should become

Well, that's not what happened. Now the missing # are
259, 260, 370, 390, 400, 520, 559, 560, 570, 579, and 580
(in addition to the same #100) (#558 and 578 not missing anymore).
As you can see, there is no logic:
It doesn't work as a simple numerotation of StillOnlinePosts, no matter the order
(otherwise there would simply be a straight count from 1 to 575 (=587-12).
It looks indeed like it shows which old posts are being automatically deleted. That the numbers are quite the same would simply show that the old posts dates were so close, of course they are deleted (six months later) almost at the same time,
BUT,
if it was the case, there would never be LESS deleted posts between two StillOnlinePosts, like it happens for example between my StillOnlinePosts #557 and #561.
Please note: of course I stick to the same method to make all my counts. Not manually modifying the URL, just using the default Next-Next-Next- clicking...
Modifying URL would add yet more differences in the differences!..

Too bad it doesn't help looking yourself at my "My Posts", as everything changes each time I'm adding a reply somewhere.
Perhaps a good way to troubleshoot this would be to start from a very simple basis:
--> "name" the posts with a number, starting from the oldest.
This way, for example my "#1" post (11-Dec-2005 21:51 GMT in this thread) would be named "221" in the New Discussions, or "2667" if you start from my Registration date.
At the moment, it is very difficult to figure what fault comes from the "#100 post bug" and what fault comes from another possible counting bug...
Then the New Discussions "fluctuating" refreshing delay too, possibly messes the counts...
