I like iWeb as an authoring tool, but MobileMe really only adds value to my blog.

Can't open site in iweb HELP

iweb opens and the bar opens saying loading site, but nothing happens. When you click on file all the options are greyed out. Tried opening the domain (from library/application support/iweb ) of the site but still nothing happens.
Does anyone have any idea of how to open my site? Have tried everything i can think of.

Sarah ~ Welcome to the discussions. The following trick has worked for some:
Quit iWeb. Start iPhoto. Select a couple of photos, click on the iWeb icon at lower right and choose Photo Page. iWeb will open up and invite you to choose a template for your new Photos page. Choose any template so that the page is created and then delete that newly created page.
...Then perhaps things are no longer greyed out in iWeb.

Help: Iweb is distorted when viewed by PC users

I'm sure this must be addressed somewhere, but I don't know where. On my iweb blog, I put pictures with text underneath & everything looks fine on my mac. However if I (and others) look at the same pages using my PC, it's not aligned, words and images have shifted, etc.
What's going on here?

It is possible to do rollovers and dropdowns, but unfortunately if you go beyond the beautiful but basic templates, you will have to use html. I have been visiting www.iwebfaq.org and http://web.mac.com/catucker/InsideOutside/iWeb.html quite a bit lately. These sites have walkthroughs and tips on using and going beyond the boundaries of iweb.
I have my own fairly basic website made with iweb if you have some spare time. mymusetellslies.com
It doesn't have any rollovers yet, but I'm not on a tight schedule. As for the problems in explorer or safari, there are some issues that are bugs in those problems and can't be worked around, but I found that many issues were resolved by keeping your boxes neat. For example, if you let a text box flow into another, that seems more likely to cause problems. The fix is simple: resize the boxes so they do not touch and that eliminates many problems.
As for the site map problem and google, that is a pain and problems stem from the navigation bar being java and not just regular links. I would recommend that you recreate the nav bar with text links to solve that problem. The two sites mentioned above go into details about that, and free or cheap programs that will help you build the site.
I personally wish Apple would buy up one of the smaller software companies like sandvox and make iweb pro, like the bought emagic to make logic pro. The ilife and iwork programs are fantastic, but it is a shame that some of the best computers for image work are not supported by the company that makes them in the web design arena, but adobe does have a **** tight lock on a lot of that world.

IPod not recognized by iTunes..related posts doesn't help me

I got a new iPod which I am trying to connect to my machine. I am using USB 2.0 to connect it to my machine. Note that my machine doesn't have Firewire. Windows recognizes it, but my iTunes gives me error: "The software required to communicate with iPod is not correctly installed. Please reinstall iTunes".
I have gone through all the steps provided by apple on their support site and few provided on this discussion board (disabling Windows XP firewall). But none of this helped.
The iPod works fine on another XP machine I have. I noticed that the executable iTunesHelper.exe was not running on my machine. So I tried to start it from command prompt. The program did start but it stopped immediately.
The machine on which I have iPod working has iTunesHelper.exe running fine.
Can anyone help me ?

Help! My DW site displays in FireFox, but does not work in IE

Help! My DW site displays fine in FireFox, but only the background loads in Internet Explorer and I get an error message that the site cannot open. The site is www.bransonareagolfcouncil.com

Help with finding my site in google?

hi all i have my site up and running and think i have it indexed?
im after a bit of help regarding how people search for it? for example the website is for my turfing company based in essex called Unique Lawns. i need to know how i go about keywords so if someone was to type in google "turf laid in essex" my site would appear?

i can find my site in google by typing unique lawns usualy in the top 6-7 on the first page which i think is pretty good as i only submitted it a few days ago, i have been reading about META keywords which im a bit confused about as some say they dont work in google?

also are google adwords any good as i have a free £50 voucher that came with my hosting?

If, as you say, some of your pages have been indexed by Google, chances are all pages have been indexed..... including the phrase:
"turf laid in essex"
A quick Google search returns
About 1,440,000 results
for that phrase...and I'll bet your's in there somwhere!
Why even the mention of
"turf laid in essex"
has this Adobe post listed 4th position, first page... saying the post was added 17 minutes ago....
so remember, in that 1,440,000 results, there are a lot of sites... all wanting to be on the first page... so why did the Adobe post make it and your site did not?
Look at the time the Adobe Forum has been around... so you have to consider time.
Look at the massive amount of quality content on the Adobe site... how does your site compare?
Look at all the other inbound links that the Adobe Forum has built up over all those years? How about your site?
Don't be discouraged, Google "SEO Princliple" and topics like that... TONS of info available.
Just remember that pretty much everyone in those 1,440,000 results want to be first page... so competition can be stiff... review and build on sound SEO principles and don't expect it happen overnight.

Apple has a site for new users. Use it. Also, David Pogue is an excellent tech writer who has penned a series called the Missing Manual. I assume you've come to the Mac from the Windows world and he's written one especially for switchers. I've linked to the version for Mavericks (10.9) but if you have an earlier version of the Mac OS he's written a similar book for them as well.

How does Websense expect your source IPs in the tunnel? 192.168.8.0 0.0.3.255 or PAT'ed 216.222.208.101 ?

Need iweb help - quick

I've got iLife and .mac, but I can't get the iweb to work, It's there but it won't give me access to even see the gallery of templates. I've never used this sytem OR even done a web page before. Help! What am I not doing?

IWebsites Help or IWeb Help

I have two sites with two different domains. I downloaded iwebsites and tried to merge the two sites together. However, when i open the recently merged site both sites appear but you can only view the content in one of them. Is there something I need to do to make both sites appear?? And for some reason the same the site that always appears first when i try to merge is the only site viewable.

Like Mireille, I stopped using iWebsites when iWeb '08 was introduced as it didn't work initially and the merge function still has not been reinstated.
One way to include your site 2 pages in site 1 is to duplicate the domain file for site 2, launch it in iWeb, call it site 3 and delete the pages you don't want. Then publish it as site 3.
Get rid of the standard navigation in both sites and create your own with all the pages of sites 1 & 3.
Obviously, the links to site 3 from the site 1 navigation will be "external" and vice versa for the site 3 navigation.

Hi there
If you have access to the WordPress site via FTP or means other than the WordPress front end, it shouldn't be too bad. Just copy the output files to the site and create a link from one of the site pages to the WebHelp or other start page.
I used to be involved with a church web site that worked that way. The main site editor didn't understand WordPress, so there were many pages she edited outside of WordPress and used DreamWeaver to do it. The site was a mish mash combination of odd pages.

Thank you for the tip on exporting by media browser (large) from imovie. But of course, if it's not one thing it's another. Now that I figured how to export a large file from imovie, I have an idvd issue. I followed the instructions for burning from idvd and changing the encoding to professional quality and the burn speed to x4, but I am receiving an error that states the following,
Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn your DVD, change the encoder setting in the Project Info window.
Project:
- total project duration: 79:04 minutes
- total project capacity: 4.327 GB (max. available: 4.172 GB)
Menus:
- number of menus in project: 1 menus
- total menu duration: 0:39 minutes
- total menu capacity: 37.370 MB
Movies:
- total movies duration: 78:25 minutes
- total movies capacity: 4.291 GB
I have searched in the idvd forum for similar issues and I am stumped at this point. I have tried deleting the encoding assets and re launching idvd with the changed preferences, and still the same error. I know you mentioned something about free hard drive space available, and I have very little left. 4GB to be exact due to massive hours of non-edited footage. I am not sure if this is why, but I do not recall ever needing free space to burn memory onto a separate dvd. I would be more than happy if I am wrong, and it would be a quick fix. Otherwise, the technical nightmare continues. It's all a learning process and your expertise is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi go to ICloud & backup. Go to Seetings Restore to Factory Settings This will get rid of any bugs and make ipad like new. Just use Same Apple ID & password then you will get all your Apps & Data Back. Cheers Brian
