Post install of v2
Anyone have the list of post-install items that need to be done to get the Discoverer portlets working.
Docs aren't real clear on the post-install tasks & I can't get the portlet provider for Discoverer to register.... Getting JAZN permission denied errors..
Thanks,
Dennis
Well, we had a chicken-and-egg issue here. Let me explain. By default, the SSM 4.0 SR2 install is at SP9, which gave it a somewhat simpler IMG. However, we gave in to the temptation of installing SP11 since this SPs were obtainable without Maintenance Optimizer, which gave us a more complicated IMG which includes, at some point, the client copy as mentioned above. We went through most of the IMG resulting from SP11 until we had Maintenance Optimizer working and then downloaded SP12.
I am in the process of installing the ABAP SP12 packages now and plan tomorrow to deploy the JAVA SP12 .SCA files. The IMG looks better and less confusing at SP12 than at SP11 or SP9. I think this calls for another IMG pass.
The $100 question - which parts of the IMG need to be done in client 000 and which to do in our client 100 (copied from client 000 after SP11 was applied). We are really confused on this point. If anyone can shed some light on this, i would very much appreciate it.

PI 7.11 sp5 post install steps - SLD update hangs in IE browser
Hello gurus,
This is my first shot at installing PI ever. We decided to go with PI 7.1 EHP1 and SP5. I think the latest may be SP6.
At any rate, we're doing this on AIX 6.1 and Oracle 10.2.0.4.
I followed the install Guide exactly. Did the sapinst, oracle and patch. Next, I manually updated the KERNEL, IGS , JVM, Then I updated SPAM, SAP_BASIS, then all the other abap components. Then did JSPM and all those components. Everything matches SP5 for PI 7.11
https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/maintenanceNWPI71
SAP_ABA 711 0005 SAPKA71105
SAP_BASIS 711 0005 SAPKB71105
PI_BASIS 711 0005 SAPK-71105INPIBASIS
ST-PI 2008_1_710 0003 SAPKITLRE3
SAP_BW 711 0005 SAPKW71105
ST-A/PI 01M_BCO710 0001 SAPKITAB8F
Now I'm doing the post install steps that are in the instguide. THere are tons of steps, but let me go over the big ones and where I'm having a problem:
READ ALL THESE NOTES:
Note 1309239 - Configuration Wizard: PI NetWeaver initial setup
Note 1286149 - Configuration Wizard: PI Self Test for NetWeaver
Note 1107808 - Collective Note: Configuration Wizard 7.1
Note 1286428 - Configuration Wizard: PI Wizard Templates overview
Note 1115280 - PI CTC: Running SAP NW for PI in a different client
At this point, based on being at PI 7.11 and SP5, I did the client copy. from 000 SAP_UCUS to my new 400 client. Then I did 001 SAP_USER to my new 400 client.
Then I followed the steps to link the java UME from 001 to 400. No problem after restarted SAP, it goes to 400.
Now, the next step as I see it is to run the initial config wizard out of NWA. I did that, no errors.
My problem is when I get to updating the SLD. I started at cimsap 1.5.42 and CRDelta 5.0....
I updated cimsap to the cimsap51509_1-20005942.zip which took me to 1.6.9
Next, I tried to import CRDelta51509_1-20005942.ZIP. I "browse" to find it during the import, but when I click the "IMPORT" button, my browser hangs...
I don't even get to the next page where it would be one more "warning/info" before I could really start the import.
I didn't find anything in the work directory or the cluster/server0/log directory.
I search all through SDN/OSS but could not find anyone who had this problem.
Where did I mess up? Are there other config wizards I should have run before I tried to update the SLD?
--NICKHey Caio,
Thanks for the response but it doesn't actually answer my question. But to that point, for a "basic" PI post install, which of the NWA config tasks would you run other than the "initial config" ? And would you run them BEFORE you updated the SLD content (cimsap/CRDelta) ?
NW: PI - AS ABAP (Basic Configuration for Idoc, Proxy): Maintain
PI Adapter Engine in JPR Mode
PI Demo Client
PI Full Qualified Host Name
PI Self Test for NetWeaver
PI SLD Self Registration
Specifically, I did the SAPINST - ABAP/JAVA patches - Client copy - and THEN the initial config wizard (Setup a new local SLD, ). Also, during the initial config, I clicked the box marked "This SLD will be used as a name server for development" and my PI server hostname was already in the box marked "object server name". This config took about 30 minutes. I didn't see any errors or warnings. although I didn't view the log. I did go into Java JEE services and Filter for Services with name "XPI". All were green.
THEN I tried to update the SLD content.
any thoughts appreciated.

When I search for the library "libclntsh", I found 3 matches to libclntsh.so.11.1,libclntsh.so.10.1 and libclntsh.so.
Only libclntsh.so.11.1 is a file and rest are symbolic links to this file which seem to be broken.
So I tried to redo the symbolic links and did a retry for the post install checks which failed again.
Can somebody please shed some light on this?

Issue with reinstallation of WSUS, Post install config fails
Hi
I am trying to reinstall WSUS role. Steps followed
1. Uninstallation of WSUS role and windows internal database, restarted the machine
2. Delete the Data file from Windows\WID folder
3. Deleted the update service registry form registries
4. Deleted WSUS administration site for IIS.
5. Deleted the files from Program files\update services.( Retained WSUSutil in sub folder tools as this was not coming up with installation).
6. Restarted the machine.
7. Installed WSUS - Successful.
8. Tried to run the post install configuration from console.. It errored out.
9. Executed the command "wsusutil postinstall CONTENT_DIR=<<Folder path on WSUS server>>
10. It erred out and the content of the error log is as below.

Any pointers on how to resolve this issue would be of great help. I can not uninstall IIS on this server as this is acting as only distribution point for my SCCM Setup.
Regards
LeelaHi ,
Refer to below steps for clean uninstallation of WSUS.
Workaround 1: To uninstall WSUS roles and features using Windows PowerShell
In PowerShell, review features installed by calling: Get-WindowsFeature UpdateServices*
To remove features, call: Uninstall-WindowsFeature <featureName>
Workaround 2: To uninstall WSUS roles and features using the Server Manager Console
In Server Manager, launch Remove Roles and Features Wizard (RRW), unselect items to be uninstalled, and complete the Wizard:
In Server Roles tab unselect ‘Windows Server Update Services’ option
In Features tab unselect ‘Remote Server Administration Tools -> Role Administration Tools -> Windows Server Update Services Tools’ option
We recommend restarting the server to ensure that all WSUS components are removed. After uninstalling WSUS roles and features, you may reinstall the WSUS roles and features
And try to reinstall. It worked for me.

I have tried to upgrade a CUC 8.5 cluster to 8.6.2. The refresh cop file was installed as per instructions including reboots. When trying to upgrade the 1st server (primary/pub) everything goes well until installing the last unity connection component and i get "Error detected in post-install phase." The system then restores to 8.5 and all is well (which is the good news).
Looking through some of the logs i found the cuc-import failed to replace the db.
Anyone else seen this? I will open a tac case but thought i would check here first....I neglected, this is a VMWare on UCS ... memory/HDD/CPU is all in spec.

Post-install of SSM 4.0 and client-copy
We finished the installation of Sol. Man. 4.0 on a linux/oracle platform. At what point in the post install do we do the client copy of client 000 for data and client 001 for users to a new client? Before, during or after all the img config in 000?
thanks in advance,

PS- Sap's install docs for SolMan 4.0 leaves much to be desired ...Well, we had a chicken-and-egg issue here. Let me explain. Oracle 10.2.0.1 client install during SLES10 AutoYast post-install
Hello all,
I'm stumped and could use a little help. I'm attempting to use the silent install method for the 10.2.0.1 Oracle client on a SLES10 SP2 via autoyast post install scripts. The script runs just fine if I use it to install after SLES10 has been completely installed. At first I suspected and environment issue, but I've doubled checked against the env during autoyast and post install completion env. Not sure what to check next, I've tried searching for minimum environment requirements for OUI, but found nothing.
silentInstall2010-05-01_10-00-43AM.log reports:
** Error Dialog: OUI-10151:There was an error while loading library: areasQueries ***

This silent installation was unsuccessful.
It was "generalQueries" until I added an ldconfig command in the script thinking something was wrong with the gcc env.
Here is the script I'm using...
#!/bin/bash

TMPDIR=/tmp/oracle_install

Thanks in advance,
ChrisFound the issue...it was in the script. Evidently, the process checker only worked after the OS install had completed and the script was run manually. I changed that section to...
PROC=`ps -ef | grep ^$1 | tail -1 | awk '{print $2}'`
while [ ! -z "$PROC" ]
do
echo "-- installOracle.sh: waiting for oracle installer to finish --"
sleep 5
PROC=`ps -ef | grep ^$1 | tail -1 | awk '{print $2}'`
done
...and all is well.

[No need]Reducing number of post-install packages (fresh Arch + XFCE)
Hi,
I am inspired by posts by slithery in post-install package count; his discussion here and my willingness to follow-foot steps. Need suggestions/tips what packages can be removed based on details below.
1. Defining usage:
Normal PC having XFCE, thunderbird, firefox, yaourt and wine (for MS-Office with 32bit libs unfortunately needed for work) with 64-bit stock kernel. Other utilities include eog (image viewer), PDF viewer, cups, simple-scan, hplip + hplip plugin, dvd burner and some fonts packages.
I have attempted to remain native on XFCE while installing utilities/needs to avoid unnecessary dependencies unless some functionality needed (such as eog).
2. Current package count

5. Packages removable IMO
More could be possible based on suggestions, but IMHO and is it safe?:
|Package Name | Reason |
|---------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------
|man-db 2.7.1-1 | For me: Wiki, Google and Forums are > what I need. |
|man-pages 3.81-1 | For me: Wiki, Google and Forums are > what I need. |
|xterm | xfce4-terminal is installed so is it needed? |
|reiserfsprogs | No need for reiser FS support (if it is what package does). |
|jfsutils | No need for JFS support. |
|xfsprogs | No need for XFS support. |
|lvm2 | I think no need for logical VM (but not sure). |
|mdadm | I think no need for md devices monitoring/managing. ]
|---------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------
|xfwm4-themes | No big fan of theming unless required for XFCE. |
|btrfs-progs | No need for btrfs support (if it is what package does). |
|ipw2100-fw | No need for Intel centrino drivers. |
|ipw2200-fw | No need for Intel PRO/wireless. |
|zd1211-firmware | I think no need for in-kernel26 zd1211rw wireless driver. |
6. Please guide what further can be removed.
Thank you for time.
Update: Del packages are already removed based on learning/thread discussion so far.

5.2 Patch 2 Post-Install Error
Jay,
I am installing patch 2 for IMS 5.2 today and got the following
errors during the Post-install: (imsimta test -rewrite -debug postmaster)
(can you take a look and comment ?) maybe this is because LDAP (directory server) was not running?
I changed the company domain in the output below:
5.2p2 has been installed successfully.
Running Post-install procedures.

ABAP & Java Preview install done. Need Post install steps for XI.
Hi
Please excuse for the most basic question.
From the trial downloads, I've installed the
ABAP and Java and would like to know the
post-install steps for activating and configuring
the Exchange Infrastructure component and
subsequent configuration
I've installed on the local host along with the
Microsoft Loopback Adapter. What should be
the connection parameters for the Visual
Administrator?
Any help is appreciated. Thank U.
Rajendra.Hi Rajender
I think no question is difficult or basic .The severity depends on whether you know it or not,in other terms your comfort level.

Mavericks recovered hard drive space post-install
I had about 12 gig free on my 15" 2012 MBP pre install. Installed 10.9 and now I have almost 36Gig free. Ran HD checks and no issues reporting. I looked at my backup and checked folder sizes in my profile pre and post install and all the data is there. I have an OCZ 256GB SSD drive installed and I've heard the stories about SSD and potential data loss but everything looks fine and is present post-install. I've read nothing about 10.9 compressing files so I am really stumped. I don't backup system files so I can't determine if some older files were purged. Still, thats a lot of data to recover. I then installed 10.9 on a new 27" Imac and hard drive space remained about the same and no extra space recovered. I'm a certified Mac tech and even all the techs I work with have never seen behavior like this on any version post-install. Anyone ever hear of this or have a similar experience? Thanks!!
Just installed Mavericks this morning and am surprised and alarmed in equal measure.
My MacBook Pro Late 11 750GB HG had:
156GB remaining before installing mavericks
It now it has
415GB remaining post installation.
All my apps and files appear to be there so I am at a loss to work out what has happened. -
Post install package installation on RHEL5
Hi,
Can I have some advise please.
When I installed Oracle's RHEL5 Linux OS I failed to select quite a lot of packages that I needed (like Apache for example.)
I've been double clicking on the RPM packages and getting lots of dependacy errors and searching though the other CD's trying to find the dependencies and of course running into more dependancy problems.
I am not yet in a position to buy the support agreement as I just want to get the server working!
So my question is - Is there any easy way to do post install package upgrades/installs or should I just reinstall the OS?
I didn't have these problems with RHEL4 so any help would be appreciated. If I have to reinstall thats OK, I'm just getting nowhere fast at the moment.
Kind regards,
James
ps I tried copying all the RPMS to the server and running createrepo but that didn't help either and of course, simple packages (with no dependents like sendmail-cf worked fine)Hi,
Well rather then complaining I just went ahead and manually resolved all my dependencies.
To make this convenient I copied all RPM's to the server and issue rpm -ivh enough times till I found all dependencies.
Issues arose when the required rpm wasn't identified by it's rpm filename but a quick search on Google identified the rpm to which the SO belonged.
As an example installing 'squirrelmail' took about 15 rpm runs until successful. Whilst this doesn't compare well with 1 yum run :-) it really didn't take very long.
Kind Regards,
James -
After netinstalling our 10.5 macs, we're seeing the startup screen (registration, new admin accounts, etc), even though we've suppressed this in the base image, and added it again to the System Image Utility Workflow (out of desperation to get this to go away).
Here is what we've executed on the base image (which works fine if we do a local restore, like ASR or block restore):
touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
touch /Library/Receipts/.SetupRegComplete
Since we just threw the image into the netinstall workflow, it was obviously overridden, so we added the scripts to the netinstall workflow as post-install items. It still doesn't work, and properly suppress the registration/accounts setup process.
What could we be missing here?
Thanks,
jBrian,
+So (to reiterate), you've installed, configured, and booted into this system (to insure that the system has had an opportunity to do whatever it needs to do). Then you imaged the volume, presumably in TDM, and when you restore this, it wants to create a new user?+
Yep!
If we use the image on a mac booted into firewire disk mode (or ASR multicast), and then reboot that mac, it starts up and does not go through the registration routine - which is good.
+How was the source volume created? (Clean install, upgrade from something?)+
We used instaDMG - clean and no upgrade.
+Did you make the image using the Assistant mode (select the volume and build a "NetInstall")? Or use the workflow mode? If workflow... what other actions did you include?+
We selected the volume and chose to do a netinstall in a workflow mode.
We have:
1) Define Image Source
2) Enable Automated Installation (choose volume)
3) Create Image
4) Add Packages and postinstall scripts (script was commands i put in my first post)
The weird thing is that it works fine when we use a restore technology other than netinstall (ASR multicast, Disk Utility block copy, etc).
Thanks,

I recently installed ECC 6.0 SR3 with Java Add-in.
OS is Windows 2003 (around 6.5GB of physical memory)
I was performing post install configs but not sure for about the following pararms,
Please can youu2019ll suggest me some recommended values:
I plan to set Env Variable CPIC_MAX_CONV to 200
What values should I use for:
qw/max_conn
qw/max_sys
qw/max_overflow_size
qw/max_shm_req
Thank you,
CD> 1. After fresh install is the variable CPIC_MAX_CONV set to some default value or it needs to be.
If the environment variable is not set the default value is 100.
> 2. Is there a calculation/process to determine the profile parameters gw/max_conn and gw/max_sys or they are not directly related.
CPIC_MAX_CONV are the maximum number of conversion IDs, gw/* parameters are for the gateway. I'm not sure if it's technically possible to use the same connection (seen from the gateway) with different/multiple conversion IDs so I'd say gw/max_conn is related to CPIC_MAX_CONV, yes.
You can check in the system itself the default values using transaction RZ11 (btw: including the documentation).
