Post installation Client copy

I installed SAP NetWeaver2004s SR2.000,001,066 client are automatically established.
Now I'm at client copy section in Installation document.
Is it necerrasy to copy 000 to new client use as production client. Why client copy?
Can not Client-000 be used as production client?
And what are the missions of Client-000,0001,066? What are the differences against each other?
Thanks.

Hi
<b>Client 000: SAP Reference Client (SAPR)</b>
This client is shipped as an industry-neutral model company.
To create a new client, as recommended in this documentation, the SAP reference client (SAPR) should be used as the source client in the client copy procedure. The new client will then contain an executable system that can serve as the basis for further customizing, development, training, and testing.
During an upgrade to the mySAP software, client-dependent changes will be automatically updated in the SAPR. To reflect these changes in the other clients, the settings will need to be copied from the SAPR to the other clients.
The Implementation Guide (IMG) contains delta projects that highlight the changes between different mySAP releases. These projects can be used for distributing the new functionality to other clients and other systems in the landscape.
<b>Client 001: SAP Sample Client (SAPS)</b>
As stated previously, when the mySAP system is installed, the SAP reference client (SAPR) and the SAP sample client (SAPS) are identical. After the system has been upgraded, or additional languages have been imported, it is likely that the SAPR will contain customizing table entries and language-dependent text entries relevant to the new release.
The SAPS, like all other clients in the mySAP System, will not contain the new entries after the update. If this information is required in the SAPS, it will need to be transported with customizing transactions and the change management system.
<b>Client 066: SAP Early watch Service Client (SAPE)</b>
SAP provides a proactive support service for checking the performance of a customer’s system. This Early Watch Service (EWS) involves a survey of the customer system to check various   performance criteria. A report is then compiled and forwarded to the customer with recommendations. These recommendations are aimed at improving system performance. The report should also alert the customer to potential problems, so that immediate, corrective action can be taken.
The SAP Early Watch service client (SAPE) enables SAP to remotely access the customer system. The client contains a user record that the SAP EWS personnel use to log onto the customer system and gather the necessary information. The user record only has the minimal R/3 authorizations necessary to allow the EWS to be performed. As the EWS personnel, survey an isolated client, it also protects the company’s confidential data in the production (PRD) system.
Normally you copy a new client for the client 000. The new client will then contain an executable system that can serve as the basis for further customizing, development, training, and testing.
Yeh you gotta perform a client copy for making other clients. Its alwaez recommended and better to use client copy to make production client.
You can use various SAP Defined Profiles to perform client copy like SAP_ALL and SAP_CUST as per the requirement.
Hope the above explanation clears your doubt.

  • Post-install of SSM 4.0 and client-copy

We finished the installation of Sol. Man. 4.0 on a linux/oracle platform.  At what point in the post install do we do the client copy of client 000 for data and client 001 for users to a new client? Before, during or after all the img config in 000?
    thanks in advance,
    Steven McElwee, Duke University
PS- Sap's install docs for SolMan 4.0 leaves much to be desired ...

Well, we had a chicken-and-egg issue here. Let me explain. By default, the SSM 4.0 SR2 install is at SP9, which gave it a somewhat simpler IMG. However, we gave in to the temptation of installing SP11 since this SPs were obtainable without Maintenance Optimizer, which gave us a more complicated IMG which includes, at some point, the client copy as mentioned above. We went through most of the IMG resulting from SP11 until we had Maintenance Optimizer working and then downloaded SP12.
I am in the process of installing the ABAP SP12 packages now and plan tomorrow to deploy the JAVA SP12 .SCA files. The IMG looks better and less confusing at SP12 than at SP11 or SP9. I think this calls for another IMG pass.
The $100 question - which parts of the IMG need to be done in client 000 and which to do in our client 100 (copied from client 000 after SP11 was applied). We are really confused on this point. If anyone can shed some light on this, i would very much appreciate it.
    Sincerely,

  • Post-Installation task client

    Hi
I´ve a doubt with the post-installation tasks of the installation of the sap system. The default clients are 000,001 and 666.
In with client I´ve to realize this tasks? In the client 001 and after that I realize the client copy of the client 000. The changes are cross-client?
    More thanks

    Hi Ruben,
Please let us know which SAP Product and version you have installed. Because there are seperate set of post installation activities for each Product such as ECC, PI, EP, CRM,SRM etc.
For Ex: If you have installed a ECC system, most of the initial post installation activities such as STMS configuration, SGEN etc need to be done on client 000. This information is very well available in Post installation guides.
If you have installed a PI system, you need to carry most of the PI specific post installation activities in the java UME client i.e by default it is 001. But you can also perform the activities in any custom client by having a client copy and come configuration changes.
    Cheers....,

  • Installation number and client copy

    Hi Gurus,
Is client copy possible between two systems which has got two different installation numbers?
This is a very basic question I know, but i don't see any other source of information. Even the client copy pre-requisites doesn't tell anything about installation number. Hence could anybody who has already experimented tell me about this.
    Thanks and Warm Regards
    Syam

This question was answered by Gopalan Narayanan. Thanks Gopal
Client copy between different installation number systems is possible.

  • Local client copy of 000 after installation fails

I'm trying to install XI. I installed Web AS 6.40 (from the SR1 installation) ABAP stack. Before installing the Java Add-In I need to make a copy of client 000. I login using client 000 and SAP*, goto SCCL and without even getting to the transaction I get the following error message:
"Target client is prodductive and protected against client copy."
(It's message no. TA133) -- I got into SCC4 (like help suggested) and the only users I have are 000 and 066 ("Test EarlyWatch Profiles"). 000 is set to "SAP Reference", not "Productive".
The thing is I never even get to enter the target client; I never get to enter anything in the transaction, it throws me out immediatly.
I managed to get a step further by following these steps:
    1. Using SCC4 I created a copy 000 (001)
    2. Logged out from 000
    3. Logged in using 001 and SAP*/PASS
    4. Went to SCC4, deleted the 001 entry and saved (if I don't delete it I get the same error as before)
Then when I went to SCCL (while still logged in with the deleted 001 client) I got the transaction. It put 001 as the target (which is fine by me), I selected a copy profile but and selected 000 as the source -- but when I tried to execute I got the same problem as before.
(I'm sure it's apparent that the whole ABAP world is new to me this is just me trying to install an XI test system in the office.)
    What am I missing here?
    Thanks,
    Alon.

    hi alon,
what do you mean with 1) (copy 000 to 001)?
just create a new client in SCC4, make sure that the parameter "client role" isn't set to "productive".
log on as sap*/pass in the new client and use SCCL to make a copy.

  • Post Installation Activities after BW 7.31 system copy

  • Error in Post processing of Client Copy

    Hi,
While doing a Client copy, i am facing an error in Post Processing step.
    Its getting hanged saying:
"Client copy is completed with status "Post-Processing Required". There is an error in log for object FINB-TR-DERIVATION"
Please help me out of this error.
    Regards,
    Twinkle

    Hi Twinkle,
I got the same error while doing client copy.
During processing of client copy there was huge workload into your system. But due to workload into the system, these tables weren't created as fast as needed by Client Copy process.
This is the reason it failed in post processing step.
You can go thru the note 1235955.
Hope this will solve your problem.

  • Client copy after BW Installation and SP import

    Hi,
I have just installed a new BW system.
As one may not use client 000, I have to create a new client according to SAP recommendations.
However, I also want to install latest Support Packages because of note 79317.
My question is: Do I have to perform the client copy first?
    Thxs.
    LauQ

    Hi Pablo,
I am confused now because I cannot use client 000. I get a message: <i>The SAP BW system must not be operated in client</i>
    Procedure:
    Procedure
IF you have not yet worked with the SAP BW then you should define another default client.
If, however, you have already worked in client 000, then copy the client as described in OSS note 116520.
Does this mean that the client copy is not necessary for a brand new installation?

    >>If i  use the copy profile SAP_APPL, this steps will not be necessay,no? The user master data from target system will be maintained.
Yes. You are right. This Profile will not over right the User Master Record. It is given on the document.

  • Post-Installation Process Error (Template Base)

    Hi Experts,
I try to run template base post-installation process in client 100, we never run post installation process in client 001 (Which is recommended before making the client copy), while doing template base post-installation process failed (got error) at PIPostInstallProcess step 7 u201CAdd Installed Product2u201D I move further and then it failed at step 19 (u201CConfigure the Role of the Integration Serviceu201D) and 20 (Register Queues) same process. It failed at number of process, so what I did I move to manual post-installation process but I stuck in the step were we need to import exchange_profile.xml because I can not see this file at sap\BX0\SYS\global, is this file being deleted by template base post-installation if yes then how to recover it?
Without this file i can not complete the manual post installation process...:-(
    With Regards
    Sunil

i think we do not need exchange_profile.xml file in 7.0 post-installation. ok i skip that step in post-installation now when i created LCRSAPRFC_BX0 in Visual Admin services->JCo RFCProvider and try to start it, it is throwing an Error.
I am using user "PI_JCO_RFC" has respective role assign to it.
I am not sure whether i am providing correct value to these filed or not

  • Transport Request as Per TMS in XI 3.0's Post Installation

    Hi Everybody !!
..I have completed cinst, dbinst, client copy, jinst, xinst installation for XI 3.0 INSTALLAION ON ABAP + JAVA.
SAP_BW , SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABAP and PI_BASIS Patches have been applied. I am doing the XI Post Installation Steps and for that as per the Post Installation Steps' Guide, I need to perform SAP XI customizing... I am done till the stage of using tr code SWF_XI_CUSTOMISING to perform the basic
customising of SAP XI. But, after entering prefix no. higher than 900 for the new user with 'local object' selection... I have confusion for the following instruction :
" You need to enter a transport request according to your transport management system ( TMS ) and choose Save again.."
I don't see any tms button or any menu option and hence, have no idea how to enter a transport request and where to enter that request...
I sincerely aprreciate the help provided and just for the record, I never fail to assign points for helpful answeres..
    Thanks in Advance Again..
    Regards..
    -Rupen Patel

    Hi Rupen,
You just have to make sure that nodes Maintain Runtime Environment and Maintain Definition Environment have green hook (not a red cross) after all the customizing done in transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING.
The instruction "You need to enter a transport request according to your transport management system ( TMS ) and choose Save again" is not so much important as it is just an informative instruction. Even i don't remember doing such a task and my XI environment is working perfectly fine.
