POST Method fails, Get Method works

WL6.1 sp1
          WIN NT
          Browser: IE 5.x
          Can some enlighten me to why this might be happening, I have certain
          users who can not use some of forms that I have created if the method is
          set to POST. When the submit button is clicked, all data in the request
          object when are being set to null. This causes servlet to rerurn wiht
          NullPoint exceptions. If I change the method to GET, then it works fine.
          On most computers it works fine except for a few important ones.

    Please help!

    Whew... never buy an iMac or Laptop from Apple without the 3 year extended AppleCare... well 2 years extended... & I think they should be called on this, they should come with a 5 year Warranty, with more available if you want.
    I think, "hmm... should it take this long?"
    No way, Houston, we haave a problem, not sure what... RAM, Logic Board, etcd.
    Tough without the Install disc, but some things to try...
    Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
    (Space between fsck AND -fy important).
    Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

  • [GUIDE] How to get MapleStory working in Arch Linux

    MapleStory is a free-of-charge, 2D, side-scrolling massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by the South Korean company Wizet. Several versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions, and each is published by various companies such as Wizet and Nexon. Although playing the game is free, character appearances and gameplay enhancements can be purchased from the "Cash Shop" using real money. MapleStory has a combined total of over 50 million subscriber accounts in all of its versions. MapleStory North America (Global), for players mainly in North America and outside of East Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe, has over three million players.
    In the game, players travel the "Maple World", defeating monsters and developing their characters' skills and abilities as is typical in role-playing games. Players can interact with others in many ways, such as through chatting, trading, and playing minigames. Groups of players can band together in parties to hunt monsters and share the rewards. Players can also join a guild to interact more easily with each other.
    I am an avid mapler myself, however, I am also an avid archer! For some time, I have wanted to get MapleStory working on Arch Linux in some way, but nothing seemed to work. As you might have guessed by now, recently, while playing around with VirtualBox, I discovered a method to get MapleStory working on it! Though in this method you won't actually have MapleStory running on Arch Linux, you'll have it running on a VirtualBox Windows virtual machine, that is still pretty good compared to other people's experiences.
    I hope there are at least a few maplers on this forum, and if there aren't, I hope that someone will port this post over to other Linux, or even MapleStory, forums. Anyways, let's begin.
    1. Download and install a version of Virtual Box that is version 3.0+. The reason for this is that, only versions 3.0+ support an experimental DirectX Driver with 3D acceleration that is required for MapleStory to run.
    2. Create a Windows Virtual Machine, add a hard disk to it, and install and update Windows on it(preferably Windows XP, as it uses less resources than other contemporary Windows installations).
    3. Once you have done all you needed and wanted on that Windows installation, restart it, boot it into safe mode by holding F8 at the boot, and wait until the desktop is fully loaded.
    4. After you are at the desktop, go to "Devices" at the top of the menu of the Windows virtual machine, and select "Install Guest Additions...". Wait until Guest Additions finishes installing, and when VirtualBox asks you if you want to mount the disk containing the Guest Additions on the virtual machine, say "Yes".
    5. Run the main executable on the disk that doesn't have amd64 or x86 following its name. Follow the instructions it gives you, and when it asks you what components to install, make sure both of the boxes it shows you are checked.
    6. After the install is completed, the virtual machine will restart. After it restarts, shut it down.
    7. Congratulations! You now have DirectX installed on your VirtualBox virtual machine! Now you need to activate the "3D Acceleration", that enables it.
    8. In the VirtualBox main window, make sure you have your machine with Windows selected. Then, click on "Machine", and then "Settings...", at the top. A new window should pop up. On the left hand side, click on the display panel, and in the new settings section, tick Enable 3D Acceleration. Click "OK", to save the settings.
    9. Start your Windows virtual machine, install MapleStory just as you would on a normal windows computer, and run MapleStory.
    Notes: This way of running MapleStory is slower than by running it normally, on a normal windows computer. Also, try to not interact with your Linux desktop while playing MapleStory, because this can cause HackShield to shut down MapleStory, due to the fact that it believes there is a hacking attempt.

    Alright, I've posted it in the wiki. I don't know if it meets the Arch Linux wiki standards, so if there is absolutely anything wrong with it, please fix it right away. Don't even ask my permission.

    Why can I no longer, after having downloaded Lion, write accents and other diacriticals when in the Google, Yahoo, FaceBook, or even here in this post? The new method for getting at the "option" symbols works fine in other places like spotlight, but now even the older "option+letter" doesn't work in most places.

    Chrome doesn't support the new accent/diacritics/macron chooser. I'm not sure about other browsers such as Firefox. You can use the old Option+letter combination that Doug suggested. Hopefully updates will solve these little incompatibilities shortly.

    No your aren't.
    You are sending the data in the class.
    That is what serialization does. (And actually not all data can be sent either.)
    When i get the object on server, i am able to print all its fields and methods... But i have one problem. I want to invoke a simple static method that just prints "hello".. The method on client that i am trying to invoke is....You probably either need stop attempting that or re-architect the solution.
    It is possible to send a class (not data) to another computer and that computer runs it. That is how applets work.
    But for that to work you must send the class. And deal with how the VM loads and unloads classes (not data) as well.

  • Can't get my class's getter method to work properly.

    Hello, I am new to Java programming, although I come from C and C++. This is my first post. I am working on a basic Library application that can Checkout and Return books. Eventually I would like to add the ability to read from and write to an XML file containing data for every book.
    My problem right now is that I cannot get my getter method within my Book class to work properly. When I call getData() from within main, and pass the appropriate arguments, instead of filling the variables with that object's data, it leaves them blank! Please help me.
    Here is my method within the Book class, the person and id_num are private.
    /* Gets general Book Instance Data and fills parameters with it */
         public void getData(String n, int num, String c, String d)
              n = this.person;
              num = this.id_num;
              c = this.checkout_date_string;
              d = this.due_date_string;
         }Here is how I am attempting to use it in main:
    String name = "";
    int number = 0;
    String checkout = "";
    String due = "";
    Book book1;
    /*Sets person = John Smith and id_num = 10763*/
    book1 = new Book("John Smith", 10763);
    /*Gets Checkout (todays) date and sets a due date in 2 weeks*/
    book1.Checkout();
    book1.getData(name, number, checkout, due);
    System.out.println("Book1:\n Checkout Date: " + checkout +
                             "\n Due Date: " + due + "\n Is it late: " + book1.isLate() +
                             "\n Person who checked it out: " + name + "\n ID number: " + number +
                             "\n ");Then, Here is the Output:
    Book1:
    Checkout Date:
    Due Date:
    Is it late: false
    Person who checked it out:
    ID number: 0

    Well I went ahead and made separate methods to return each value. I suppose that will work just as well, especially since now I don't have to declare a bunch of strings and int's to hold the data and pass to the method.
    >
    Well this would never work anyway
    public void getData(String n, int num, String c, String d)None of those can be changed within the method. Strings are immutable and 'int' is passed by value. Each of those parameters will have the same value after the method exits as they did before it was called.
    Your book class should be using 'setters' to set the value of its instance variables.

  • Urgent , Post or Get method?

    hello all;
    when i deploy a servelt on growser with the GET method , the servlet is working all right, but when i use POST method (to change database) , i have error , please tell me how and when i use Post method?

    GET and POST are two different ways of passing data from a browser to a server. With the GET method, the browser constructs a Query String (?var1=val&var2=val...) which is passed to the server as part of the URL. With the POST method, the data from the browser is passed via standard input to the server. You determine which method is used when you build the HTML form:
    <FORM ACTION="/path/action_servlet" METHOD="POST">
    OR
    <FORM ACTION="/path/action_servlet" METHOD="GET">
    <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="var1">
    <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="var2">
    <INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT">
    </FORM>
    In the case of servlets, either the doGet() or doPost() method will be executed depending on how the data is passed from the browser.
    In general, use the GET method for debugging or if you want the client to be able to bookmark the entire URL (with parameters). If you have an application where you are "changing the database", you probably want to use the POST method.

    Hi,
    I have the following scenario:
    A Swing-Application is using JClient to bind to bc4j. The JUStatusBar works fine for the forms which have an iterator. But if I show a form with a JTree, e.g., I don't want the message "3 out of 4000 rows" to be displayed in the status bar... because it is a tree...You can install a custom StatusBar and override displayStatus() methods to ignore iterBinding that's bound to JTree.
    something like:
    JUStatusBar statusBar = new JUStatusBar(..)
    public void displayStatus(JUIteratorBinding bind, String msg, Object[] params)
    if bind == treebind or an iterator that's displayed in the tree then return
    else call super.
    I thought, the status bar should implement this behaviour, it displays a "iterator released" message, but the label from the form before the JTree-form was coming up isn't cleaned up.
    Any suggestion for me what to do?
    Torsten.

  • Substitution method to get work rep name

    Hi all,
    what is the substitution method I need to use to get the work rep name.

    Hi Guru,
    Thank you for the reply.
    we can use the method <%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("INSERT_COUNT")%> to get row count only for the previous step. I have a package here with almost 20 steps in it. I want to make sure none of these 20 steps have downloaded any records. Hence, I declared a variable and did a sum(NB_INS) from SNP_STEP_LOG for that particular session. And, I then evaluated if this variable is > 0. Any other better way of doing this? Thank you

            else if (n > MAX) howmany = MAX;
            else howmany = n;
    }i have this and im trying to just use the get method but i cant figure out for the life of me how to make this work, the code i came up with is
    package nim;
    public class testtt
    public static void main (String[]args)
         Row a = new Row(5);
         System.out.println(a.getHowmany);
    }and i keep getting the error testtt.java:11: cannot find symbol
    symbol  : variable getHowmany
    location: class nim.Row
         System.out.println(a.getHowmany);does anyone know how to make this work? im getting ready to pull my hair out

    you have missed the brackets of the function call
         System.out.println(a.getHowmany);
         System.out.println(a.getHowmany());

    Hi,
    I'm having the exact same problem, and it's freaking me out!!! The setGridPanel method is always called but not the getGridPanel. This one is only called the first time the page is rendered, and when I change a drodpdownlist it never gets the gridPanel again! I'm using an HtmlPanelGrid. Anyone can help please?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raquel
