I can see exactly what your saying & in no way disagree.
I do think however the wording of the current BT television advertising campaign for Infinity requires modifying as these so called 'personalised estimates' gave me a completely different perception of a speed estimate.
When I received my personalised estimate of 80/20 sadly I actually believed this, maybe becuase I live very close to my FTTC cab, & was a little dissapointed after the installation to see I hadn't got what I was told by BT as a result of my 'personalised estimate'.
Im still happy with my download/upload speeds but am very dissapointed with ping/latency tests conducted through BT's fibre network.
Perhaps the words 'UpTo' should make a return to BT's advertising campaign.

  • How accurate is the geeksquad order checker

I took my phone in on Friday they said the delivery for repairs has already been sent out for the day and that the earliest would be Monday. OK. I busted check to see and status I'd that its waiting to be shipped. Is the tracker not accurate at all or did no one send out my phone today

If you sent your phone in for Rapid Exchange it may not be accurate, as the replacement is ordered immediately even if the store hasn't sent your phone out yet.

My Ipod touch has been stolen. The tracker shows it to be in a  front garden of a road nearby. But it is not there. How accurate is the tracker deviceand should I report it to the police please?

The iPod touch does not have GPS, so the location accuracy is greatly reduced. It relies on the known location of nearby WiFi networks. As WiFi networks can extend for 100m or so, the iPod could be anywhere within a 100m radius of whichever WiFi router it is connected to.

  • HT201299 How accurate is the data roaming meter?

I'm having troubles with my provider as they state I've used more than what the meter says. How accurate is the data roaming meter? I switched it on as I was taking off to overseas and off when I landed back home.

I know how important it is to keep track of your data usage Creegsly! Please be assured our data monitoring tools are very accurate; however, usage can delay for up to 48 hours. Your usage will reset each month on the first day of your new bill cycle. As an additional option, you can also use #DATA from your wireless phone to check your data usage. I trust this information was helpful.

How accurate is the speed checker? http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25795
Just had conversation with customer services where they claimed the maximum speed I could get was 6mb and the 17mb quoted in the letter was a "clerical error". I've worked out they must have been using the checker linked above but the speeds quoted aren't accurate for my connection. Does anyone else have a discrepency?

According to your attenuation I would hope for around 12mb on your line, that would be with the correct stats, SNR margin of 6dB which you have etc..  Although the reason I've highlighted the Output Power [Downstream] is because this should be around 19/20 and hence why you are probably not seeing the good speeds.  Please contact the mods, you can do that by following this link: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 and ask them to get it sorted for you and then you should see the speeds

  • How accurate is the notation feature for all of you??

how accurate is the notation feature for all of you??

    Hi,
what I normally do when I'm making a score, is that I quantize the part I recorded to, say, 1/16th. If I play the quantized part, it should sound exactly what I intended. If not, I make corrections. This way, I'm pretty sure that the interpretation of the score window will be pretty accurate. Otherwise, the score could interprete a note that's a bit too early or a bit too late as a 1/32 note, and make a mess of the notes.
When playing full piano scores, make sure to play as simple as possible, because embellishments also make messier scores.
    Kind regards,
    Jaap

  • How accurate is the "Find my Phone" app, if not in a free wi-fi area could it bounce a 100/200 metres to the next nearest to show its location as being there instead?

How accurate is the "Find my Phone" app, if not in a free wi-fi area could it bounce the location of the phone a 100/200 metres?
Can there be technology glitches in fairly condensed areas?

I do not know about the UK, but the "accuracy" of the application in the US would not support a search warrant or confrontation. I have no specifics about the exact accuracy.

  • Is the BT Infinity Checker ever wrong?

Me and my brother have seperate houses on the same new house estate on the outskirts of Coventry which have all been built by the same builder, if i look over my garden fence i see his cars parked on his drive.
He is upgrading to fibre today however the bt infinity checker tells me that i can't have fibre - which is something i've
been waiting for since FTTC was first announced.
I had an engineer come and sort out a telephone socket in our house and i mentioned to him that i couldn't get fibre and he said that was strange as we should all be connected to the same cabinet since he worked for BT Broadband and looked after the area i was in.
At the bottom of my road is an older housing estate so i don't know if its probably that i'm connected to the cabinet that they are connected to instead.
My questioin is, can the checker ever be wrong? And if it can, how can i get it verified if i can get fibre or not? I'm a big gamer and adsl latency and lack of upload are a big pain.

The DSL checker tells you which cabinet you and your bro are connected to www.dslchecker.bt.com

  • How to solve the issue "CUV check user equivalence failed" ?

    Folks,
Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 VMs (rac1 and rac2) whose OS are Oracle Linux 5.6 in VMPlayer according to the website http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/11gr2-rac-on-linux-56-using-vmware.html
In order to install Grid Infrastructure, we need to run Cluster Utility Verification (CUV) at first by running the cammand below:
    [ora11g@rac1 grid]$ ./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n rac1,rac2 -verbose
    Its output:
Performing pre-checks for cluster services setup
Check: User equivalence for user “ora11g”
    Node Comment
    rac1 failed
    rac2 failed
Result: PRVF-4007 : User equivalence check failed for user “ora11g”
    ERROR:
User equivalence unavailable on all the specified nodes
    Verification cannot proceed
Pre-check for cluster services setup was unsuccessful on all the nodes.
As you see above, check user equivalence failed. I have run the 4 commands to fix this error as below:
    [ora11g@rac1 /]$ ssh-keygen
    Its output:
    Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Enter file in which to save the key (/home/grid/.ssh/id_rsa):
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase):
    Enter same passphrase again:
Your identification has been saved in /home/grid/.ssh/id_rsa.
Your public key has been saved in /home/grid/.ssh/id_rsa.pub.
    The key fingerprint is:

    [ora11g@rac1 .ssh]$ cat *pub >>authorized_keys
    [ora11g@rac1 .ssh]$ ssh rac1
    Its output:
The authenticity of host ‘rac1 (127.0.0.1)’ can’t be established.
    RSA key fingerprint is 9d:ae:51:7c:72:81:07:37:31:92:f1:c8:90:bc:52:55.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
Warning: Permanently added ‘rac1′ (RSA) to the list of known hosts.
    Write failed: Broken pipe.
    [ora11g@rac1 .ssh]$ ssh rac1-priv
    Its output:
The authenticity of host ‘rac1-priv (192.168.137.35)’ can’t be established.
    RSA key fingerprint is 9d:ae:51:7c:72:81:07:37:31:92:f1:c8:90:bc:52:55.

Warning: Permanently added ‘rac1-priv,192.168.137.35′ (RSA) to the list of known hosts.
    Write failed: Broken pipe.
After run the 4 commands above, I run the command below again:
    [ora11g@rac1 grid]$ ./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n rac1,rac2 -verbose
    Its output is the same:
PRVF-4007 : User equivalence check failed for user “ora11g”
    ERROR:
User equivalence unavailable on all the specified nodes
    Verification cannot proceed
I think the problem is "Broken pipe" and ssh cannot write authorized_keys to the machines.
    My question is:
Do any folk understand how to solve the issue CUV "check user equivalence failed" for 2 VMs ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying.
I have installed Grid Infrastructure a few times. Each time, on step 7 of 9, the installer fixes and checks 2 machines correctly. The entire installation has 3 parts as below:
    1) Install Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster
    2) Execute Root Scripts for Install Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster (script is root.sh)
    3) Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster that includes NCA, ASMCA, PICA and CVU.
Each time, on step 8 of 9, the Installer installs Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster successfully that includes "Prepare, Copy files, Link binaries, Setup files and Perform remote operations".
But when the Installer get to part 3 CVU, it fails and then the Database cannot be installed.
Deinstall Grid is a very complicated process to do. Because of this reason, we need to run CVU at first to make sure everything is correct for 2 machines before install Grid.
Even we ignore "user equivalence (ssh)", we don't know whether other items can be passed or not because CVU cannot proceed to check the machines.
    My question is:
How to have the script "runcluvfy.sh" continue to check the machines while confronting "user equivalence failed" ?

You cannot contact Openreach, but its possible one of the BT Care Team may be able to find out what is going on, and arrange to have the DACS removed, so you can get broadband.
If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.
If its a business line, then you will have to visit the BT Business forums here http://business.forums.bt.com/
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

It's funny how these problems re-appear and how BT seemingly don't know that they exist and, actually, don't belive what you are saying!
I keep on getting a pop-up that tells me I have an e-mail issue with BT. If I close it, it appears again the next day, if I click on the button to resolve the problem it takes me to the BT Help software, which then asks me what problem I have.
I don't know! I didn't know there was a problem in the first place!
I 'chatted' with BT about this - the man said this was a completely new problem that had never been reported or experienced before. He put me through to a telephone help person, who said it was nothing to do with her - she was related to yahoo - but that it would be something to do with BTmail. The lady at BTmail told me that there was nothing that she could do if I couldn't tell her what the problem was. I explained about the pop up and plainly she did not believe me. Apparently, as I don't actually use the btinternet e-mail account I can't get an error message about it.
Well - I do. Every day.
What is irritating is to google the problem and find that it actually appears on this forum - and that BT still deny all knowledge. What is even more amazing is to find that this thread dates from 2012 and there are older ones about exactly the same problem........and still BT deny all knowledge.
Less irritating and more extraordinary is that the 'solution' is to delete the BT Help Center software altogether.
I've only been with BT Infinity for a month now and this is the second issue that I have had (the first was the HH5 being totally unable to display a device on its network), and it's the second time that BT have effectively said - 'not a BT problem'. Extraordinary.

  • How accurate is the iphone finder with the time?

    Hi,
I was wondering how accuate the iphone finder is with the time? I see from time to time it looks like it gets stuck in one place and then up dates and the phone moves to the new location, when I say stuck I mean about 15 to 30 mins not 1 or 2, I know the phone is moving from a bus within a city too.
was wondering how accurate this is for time or . If the iphone finder says it at a loctaion how true is that? could it be off with the time and location?
    thanks,

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The accuracy of the location itself, may vary from a few metres to quite large distances, depending on how good the connections are that the device has at the time.
So far as the time goes, I should imagine that that is fairly accurate. The time you see is the time that the last location was received, sometimes it may take a few minutes before the device is located again other times it may take much longer. However at the time stated, I feel you can be fairly certain that the location was correct, albeit in the minutes that have passed since, the device may well have moved a considerable distance.

You are using an unencrypted wireless service so anyone else connected to the same hotspot could intercept your traffic.
BT offer a Cisco VPN for this very reason - http://www.btwifi.co.uk/help/security/vpn-software.jsp
You must be connected to a BT hotspot to download it but I have not been able to get it working on iPhone/iPad.
I have started using OpenVPN which is significantly more difficult to implement but works well and is extremely secure.
The other option is to use a router with a VPN endpoint built-in such as a Draytek or certain others using the DD-WRT or Tomato open-source firmwares and connect to that when out and about.
