the problem is also on McAfees own product this is not a BT problem the netprotect is a cut down free product you will not get a refund for it as suggested try Microsoft Security Essentials it is reccomended on the forums it is also free and not as resource hungry as McAfee

Hello everyone,
I recently downloaded the following updates for my computer (13" unibody MacBook Pro Gen 1) and when I go to restart and install them, the installer that would normally appear over the logins screen is displayed very briefly (less than 1 sec.) with the message "your computer will automatically restart" and then it restarts and does not install the updates.

Mac OS X 10.6.8

Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 5 1.0

I am currently running Mac OSX 1.6.7, if that makes any difference. I am thinking that deleting the update files and re-downloading them would likely fix it, but I don't know where they're located. I am the admin for my computer and I have cleared PRAM, deleted all of the caches, logs, etc. that I thought would maybe make a difference. Help please!
Sorry for posting this in the 10.6 section, there was no 10.7...First off, are you running 10.7 (Lion) or are you running 10.6.7?
If you are running Lion, you need to post on the appropriate developer forum you were told to when you accepted the beta distribution.
If you are running 10.6.7, then try booting into the install DVD and repari the disk using Disk Utility (you can get to it after selecting the language in the installer).
Then, reboot normally and open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions. Ignore the long list of stuff that you can safely ignore.
Then, try updating again. -
The software downloaded fine, but when I clicked to update it gave me an error reading: "iPhone can not be updated at this time because the iPhone activation server is temporarily unavailable." Any suggestions?

The trick that worked for me is to temporarily disconnect your network while it is extracting the software update. It worked for me, and many others. -

I changed my hard drive and now the software will not update to maverick, i have 10.6.8 now

My existing itunes software will not update to current version. It stops half way through Install. I just get an Error window. It says try downloading manually via 'Tools' but I can't find 'Tools' anywhere?
I assume they mean tools in Apple Software update, it is on the menu bar. You can select download only which saves the components on your PC.
Or you can simply;y download the installer direct from Apple

My iPad will not update to 5 at all. I don't even have the option of software update in settings. I've tried to update over iTunes and it doest work there either.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

When my iPod Touch is connected to my Mac, and I select Update to update the software of my iPod Touch, I get a message saying that my iTunes software is current, but it will not update my iPod Touch software. Is there a bug in the iPod program?
If you have the first gen ipod touch as your information shows, then you would have to buy a software update:

As a result I can't update iTunes, version 10.5.2 (This software requiers Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later)
Now when I connect my iPhone 4, version iOS 6 iTunes can't connect to iPhone (The iPhone "XXXXX's iPhone" cannot be used because it requiers iTunes version 10.6.3 or later.)
so in a nutshell can't use iphone 4, because iTune is not updated and will not update because Mac Book is not up to date and will not update either.

I have quite literally tried everything. My ipod touch just will not update.
My internet connection is more than fine, my ipod functions as it should, and I can connect to the itunes store.
It will not, however, connect to the update server.

My IMac is very old and is not under warranty anymore just for reference. I have taken my computer to an Apple Retailer to get major problems fixed before and the issue's subsided. But one problem is still here.
My IMac will not update new software, everytime I have attempted to update my software before and it does nothing, if the software happens to load and finish then when it says "to finish the update you will need to restart your computer" that is the problem, my computer cannot update new software because it does not restart properly and therefore cannot do any initail updating and it is becomming very fustrating. I have no idea what to anymore. I have pretty much just given up the fact that my computer is completely ancient.What happens when you try?
