How old is your Airport? It's not uncommon for a router to die after 5 years or so.
This article should help with resetting it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3728?viewlocale=en_US

If you think your speed is lower than expected, please post your speed test results with ip profil, hub stats, whether connected wirelessly or by cable, if at master socket or extension etc - and someone will be able to advise if your speed can be increased or if it is correct for your line.
With regards to your final line - no one here is offerring you anything that can or can not be delivered. With the exception of the forum mods we are all customers just like you - but some of us (not necessarily me) have a huge amount of experience of resolving speed related issues with broadband.

I think I found the answer to my own question (no thanks to Verizon)!
I found this article online which was written recently (2012) and explains the WIFI - Bluetooth interference pretty well. Here is the link:
    http://www.ecnmag.com/articles/2012/03/wi-fi-and-bluetooth-coexistence
The way it has been explained is that if the WIFI & BT radios are on the same chip and using the same antena to send and receive, they WILL interfere no matter what. Having them on two different chips is the best way. But Frequency Isolation (Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH)) is a way to reduce interference when they are both on the same chip (as it is in Galaxy Note 2 & S3 - they have Broadcom BCM4330 for wifi/bluethooth/FM) which I guess needs to be addressed in a software update (or may be it already has and is not working well). The last solution is to use 5GHz band for WIFI.
There you have it. But please let me know what you think and if you have found out anything else.
    Thanks

I was going to put it in the Infinity forum but as there were other similarish ones here, and that my problem is reagrding a connection issue (my modem gets Inifinity just fine), I thought thought the connection issues forum would be the correct place.
Also as HH3 is not Infinity specific, I thought the problem was not necessarily Inifinity specific either
Even so, thanks for putting in the correct place.

Yea, in my honest opinion the wireless on the HH3 is not the greatest at all, the channel switching for me causes problems which causes my external devices to lose connection for a few seconds at times.
Is there no way you could just try it? even for long a game or so just to rule out any possibilites? Also, since your at the other end of your house, that is also a problem even when your powerline adaptors.

I still cannot believe that even with infinity i still cannot get a strong wifi connection in my house .
It would be better to avoid wireless, and use a direct Ethernet cable or powerline adapter.

See if there is a quality setting for the iPlayer on the TV, and use a lower quality setting. The version that runs on a PC automatically adjusts the quality, to match the available bandwidth. The TV is unlikely to have that automatic facility.
Just because you are getting 46mb download, it does not mean that the BBC servers can deliver that speed, especially during peak time. I would imagine that even 3Mb would be pushing it during those times.
If the TV quiality is set too high, then its going to keep buffering, wheras the PC will simply lower the quality to match the speed.

I tend to think that the comments about MAC address filtering and wireless security are a bit misleading - if these things were the problem then it would not work at all as opposed to working sporadically.
I must admit, reading your post I had exactly the same problem moving into a new house last year, my desktop PC in my room would get terrible wireless reception with constant erroring and was practically unusable whilst a laptop sat next to it was just fine. I tried a million different things and eventually bought an external wireless antenna like the one here:
Edimax EA-IO7D 7dBi Indoor Omni-Directional High Gain Antenna with Desktop Stand - 1m Cable
It solved the problem for me though I am still mystified as to what the problem is - I suspect that there is something in the environment causing interference though I don't know what. My house is of average size and fairly modern with thin walls so I would not anticipate any problems.
Some things to try are to move the PC right next to the hub (or vice versa, whichever is easier) and see if this improves things or borrow a wireless router from a friend, turn off all encryption and see what signal strength you get there.

yes infinity like any broadband service is better wired
yes infinity will work wirelessly but not as fast i have seen drops of up to 50% of a wired speeds
there are alternatives to wireless that will give you the best infinity speeds
powerlines are a very good option this lik may help you http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/networking/powerline_operation.jpg they just plug into a power socket and use the household wiring to make the connection between your hub and the PC

Yes there is probably a problem with the Yahoo servers prematurely timing out. But the originator of the thread was looking for some advice on alleviating their problem. The size of the email,  timeout settings, firewall, virus scanning and connection speed all potentially have a bearing on the issue.  So the advice given is valid but depending on circumstances may be more or less effective.

You are using an unencrypted wireless service so anyone else connected to the same hotspot could intercept your traffic.
BT offer a Cisco VPN for this very reason - http://www.btwifi.co.uk/help/security/vpn-software.jsp
You must be connected to a BT hotspot to download it but I have not been able to get it working on iPhone/iPad.
I have started using OpenVPN which is significantly more difficult to implement but works well and is extremely secure.
The other option is to use a router with a VPN endpoint built-in such as a Draytek or certain others using the DD-WRT or Tomato open-source firmwares and connect to that when out and about.
