See if there is a quality setting for the iPlayer on the TV, and use a lower quality setting. The version that runs on a PC automatically adjusts the quality, to match the available bandwidth. The TV is unlikely to have that automatic facility.
Just because you are getting 46mb download, it does not mean that the BBC servers can deliver that speed, especially during peak time. I would imagine that even 3Mb would be pushing it during those times.
If the TV quiality is set too high, then its going to keep buffering, wheras the PC will simply lower the quality to match the speed.

  • Why is iPlayer buffering on my Sony TV but not on ...

iPlayer is almost unusable from between 6pm-11pm when using our Sony Bravia TV (due to constant buffering interruptions), other services like YouTube and LoveFilm seem fine on the TV. iPlayer on a laptop (same connection) during that time works just fine.
Is TV traffic routed differently to laptop traffic? Any clues on how I can sort this out, it's very irritating.
We're using BT Infinity 2 (76MB down/20MB up), it's a wired 100MB ethernet connection to TV. A speed test using (speedtest.net) at the same time as problems occur is showing 46down/9up.
(Obviously, Sony have said it's an ISP issue).

I've been using Spotify for months and I'm premium. I don't have this issue though I do have the music synced so I can listen to it offline.

  • Bottom row greyed out and apps moved - why ? How do I get them back to where they belong ?

bottom row greyed out and apps moved - why ? How do I get them back to where they belong ? Have no idea how this happened.  At first it seemed the apps - phone, safari, mail - were LOST.  But they were moved up with all the others.

    Thanks for your response.
However I managed to figure out how to recover - it's just a matter of moving them back to the bottom row 'dock' !  So it's actually very easy.  I was 'thrown' by this unexpected development - don't know how it happened - but it's a 'non-issue' now.  Hopefully my next post or question - if I have one - will be more 'substantive'!

    Hi,
I have just got myself a new PC with Windows 7 (64bits). Using IE 8 (32 bit version), I am unable to download emails attachments from my normal Yahoo account ([email protected]). I have read somewhere that this could be due to the fact that Yahoo uses Norton as antivirus scan for email attachments, and that this could clash with BT NetProtectPlus (McAfee under the bonnet). Is there an option I need to switch off (and if so which one / how) in BT NetProtectPlus in order for me to be able to download attachments via Yahoo mail ?
Please note that this used to work on my previous PC (Windowx XP).
Thanks for your help. This is getting really frustrating !
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
To be honest, there would not really be a clash between the products you've mentioned, because the online system using Norton is a server system and actioned before any download. There is possibly an option in BTNetprotect for "email scanning" or similar. This option can be turned off in the general case, since disk writes are covered anyway,
Have you tried another browser (e.g. Firefox, Opera or Safari) to see if the same conditions exist ?
Is there any particular error message or delay you are seeing ?

Well, as I mentioned before, if it's a HH2 and the rear of it is in view of the public, then every Thomas, Richard and Harry will be able to see the wireless key and make full use of the Internet.
    Hi.
Although possible, that's not entirely true. If the user has altered the wireless key, then viewing the back of the hub will not help
But how many out there in BT land actually do change it?
BT only prompt the user to change the default admin password if and when they first access the hub.
At least BT thought about the label design on the HH3, keeping it hidden until needed.
I reckon hardly anyone would change the wireless key to be honest , but I wonder how many leave them in a window ...

It would be better to avoid wireless, and use a direct Ethernet cable or powerline adapter.

You cannot contact Openreach, but its possible one of the BT Care Team may be able to find out what is going on, and arrange to have the DACS removed, so you can get broadband.
If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.
If its a business line, then you will have to visit the BT Business forums here http://business.forums.bt.com/

You could try reading about wingates, socks and proxies (oh before i forget, turn off java, javascript, cookies, what's related, and smart update ... if you are using IE you're not very smart).
