Post PS CC install question

After subscribing to and successfully installing PS CC and Lightroom I still have the PS CS6 installed. Can this be de-registered and uninstalled safely or does CC need any components from the CS6 install?

Yes, you can deactivate the PS CS6 and then uninstall it from Add or remove programs in Windows and from Utilities in Mac.

I need to buy a larger h/d, but till then I would like to put as many programs as possible on a external usb drive that I have hooked up to my PC. I've been able to do this with some other programs, and would like to try it with my Adobe Reader and Flash. When down loading and installing it does not give me the option to install in a defferent location other then my C: drive. Can this be done? Thanks you?

From the MSI you have to create a MST (Transforms). In the MST create now the new property INSTALLDIR=F:\, where F: is your USB-drive. If you use then the command
msiexec.exe /i [MSI] transforms=[MST]
Adobe Reader should be installed to F:

Post-Install Question

I recently installed ECC 6.0 SR3 with Java Add-in.
OS is Windows 2003 (around 6.5GB of physical memory)
I was performing post install configs but not sure for about the following pararms,

CPIC_MAX_CONV are the maximum number of conversion IDs, gw/* parameters are for the gateway. I'm not sure if it's technically possible to use the same connection (seen from the gateway) with different/multiple conversion IDs so I'd say gw/max_conn is related to CPIC_MAX_CONV, yes.
You can check in the system itself the default values using transaction RZ11 (btw: including the documentation).

Door speaker install question(s)

I purchased Polk DXI 6500 component door speakers and I am going to have them installed in a 2010 Camaro, that did not come with the Boston Acoustic stereo. I had an amp installed in the trunk over a year ago at best buy it's an alpine 710 watt five channell and it is only running my 10 inch alpine sub right now and want it to run the polk's once there installed. My question is what else do I need to buy before I go to the best buy installers?. a year ago I was going to have them install the speakers and there were multiple mix ups on there part. So I want to make sure I have everything when I take it in. have already ordered brackets specifically for the camaro so the actual doors speaker installs should be much easier for the techs, but I know that I need to buy LOC for the back of the radio (I think)and some more wire, but I would just like someone to point me in the right direction on the Best buy web site so I could purchase all the items ahead of time so I don't run in to the crap I did last year when I brought my car in!

if you are wanting to run the rest of your speakers off of the factory radio than all you will need is another line out convertor. Are you replacing all 4 or just the front? since you already have the amp installed you might not need another line out since it is a 5 channel amplifier. If you are going to run all 4 speakers off of the factory radio than what i would have you purchase is a isve61 it is a 53.99 dollar part that all installation bays should have. That part will act as 2 line out convertors and make for a cleaner install instead of running 2 line outs.
If you are only going to be runnin the front two than all you would need is 1 line out convertor that is 14.99 fierce audio. again it all just depends on how they decided to do the initial amp installation.
If you came to my shop and wanted all 4 done i would add on speed wire that is 30 dollars, that is so that i can make all my connections from the back of the stereo and have all the wires cleanly ran in one big loom, instead of multiple wire runs, but i would debate doing this for jsut 2 speakers. I would personally just call the techs that are working there and see what they want to do since they did the original installation.

Basic install question for Flex on CF 7.02

Hello,
I've been trying to get Flex working on CF 7.02 and I'm
reading very different and conflicting stories.
Firstly I have CF 7 running on 2003, and then installed the
updates for7.01 and then 7.02 .
I installed as a single server instance.
Reading here, I just need 7.02 and I should be fine

What is most annoying is that I had it working on a local
server and it was fine. But this was installed over a year ago, and
I don't have a steps taken that made it work. That server is now
being used for something else.
I don't know if I need the FDS or Lifecycle to be installed
as everything I read says FDS is part of CF.
I have also read that FDS express can be downloaded and run
on a Java server, and that it doesn't need cF, but this in not the
solution to my problem..
To summerize:-
I need to get Flex apps running on CF 7.02 in a production
environment.
Do i need do install anymore than CF, if so how much does it
cost?
I'm not a CF programmer, and don't know much about it, I
usually deal with MS stuff

I just want to verify this new community is set-up correctly; I have two accounts for the Oracle site, this one (linked to my gmail email) and another linked to my work email (I can log support cases with the latter).

I have a remote site customer that is in the process of replacing their ACS servers,and have several questions:
1) What version should we be installing?
2) Where can we get a clean binary installer (or do we have to start with 3.x or 4.0 & upgrade-if upgrade, can we use latest patch installer, or do we have to apply successive patches?)
3) Cross-version replication? Current servers have Release 4.1(1) Build 23 Patch 5-do these need to be upgraded to current version, or can we install latest & replicate from current?
4) Is it possible to use different DNS name (ex rtpacs.corpnet2.com) for website than server's 'real' name (ex. us2sawn00232.us1auth.xxxx.com)?
5) How to use GSK-signed cert? Have tried previously & failed-anything special here?

For your queries for replication ACS should be of same version then only you can replicate between the ACS patner,If you have the same version then your first and third query got the answer.
For your fourth query you can use DNS server to host your web servers like when ever user acces your web site traffic will land in your DNS server where it will redirect to original server for that DNS server should be authoritive server for your website.

GD2 install question

Trying toi install gd2 on my 'new' g5 xserve.

Installing libjpeg went fine. Output for the make is as below:

RAID5 has performance setbacks with random writes and simultaneous small writes. If you want good speed and reliability but at the cost of having 2TB of total space, use RAID 0+1. Most mobos support 0, 1, 0+1, and 5.
Edit: I don't trust really high capacity drives (basically everything over 800GB). I've read so many reports of failures, I wouldn't want to risk all of my data. So RAID 0 seems pretty much out of the question.

Software install question

I'm a relatively new Mac user so I apologize if this is an elementary question or if I've posted in the wrong place.
I have an .exe sitting on my desktop that I need to install (PaintShop Pro). When I click it, it asks me which application I want to use. How do I install this software using the executable file?

The .exe file will not open on Mac OS X as it is a windows only executable file. The only way you are going to be able to install PaintShop Pro is to run windows on your MacBook Pro. You could always look for a similar programme on any of the following sites:

Mavericks install question

Hello Apple Community -
I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro (7,1) in which I'm installing a new HD.
The question is which OS to install and how - I've misplaced the original OSX 10.6.8 install disk.
One option is to make an appointment at an Apple store (I'm in New York City) and ask them to do the install - a reinstall of 10.6.8 or a later version.
Question - would it work to boot the MacBook from an external HD I have which has OSX 10.6.8 on it, and use that to get the MacBook to download & install Mavericks?
I don't use any special software, so I'm thinking that upgrading software for the new OS won't be a big issue.

Not sure what you mean by "special software." Do you want to continue to use any software, or are you prepared to purchase a new software library for your Maverick system?
For example PowerPC apps that you may be using in Snow Leopard will NOT work in Mavericks (without further advice).
I would recommend a two partition approach:
Install Snow Leopard into one partition and migrate your original applications and files to that partition; or
Question - would it work to boot the MacBook from an external HD I have which has OSX 10.6.8 on it, and use that to get the MacBook to download & install Mavericks?
You can use cloning software to move all of your files from the Snow Leopard HD over to the new Snow Leopard partition.
Install Mavericks into the new partition.
DO NOT INSTALL MAVERICKS over your old Snow Leopard HD, as this may cause you hours of grief to rectify!
Dual-boot into whichever flavor of OS X you prefer to use and "experiment" with Mavericks for now.
Lastly, would you please attempt to boot your 2010 MacBook Pro from your white retail Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD (and even install Snow Leopard, if you have the time) and report back your results to the other post you made today. Thank you!

Yet more vanishing iTunes install questions

Greetings all,
I realize that numerous people are having this problem, and numerous solutions exist, but I'm seriously at a loss trying to figure this out right now.
Basically, the situation is this: I'm trying to help someone install iTunes on their school-issued PC laptop, and it seems to be suffering from the widespread vanishing installation problem (that is, the iTunes install runs right up to the point prior to the QuickTime install, then disappears and takes everything it did with it, desktop icon and all.)
I'm aware that the root cause of this problem seems to have to do with the setting of administrative rights under WinXP (Home in this case, by the way.)
Thus far, I've done the following relevant things listed in other threads in attempt to fix it:
1. Ran Windows Update and made sure that all critical updates were installed.
2. Checked the User Rights Assignments in the Local Security Policy section of the control panel as suggested in numerous posts. SERVICE and Administrator were NOT to be found there. Can these be added manually? If so, what is the proper way to do it?
3. Went through HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Setup\Recovery Console and set the Security Level value to 1. This didn't seem to have any beneficial effect (this was switched back to 0 after failing to work.. I assume that's the wise thing to do?)
4. Tried using the "Run as..." option on the iTunes installer both before and after having done all of these things. This presented a problem in and of itself, which I'll describe shortly.
5. I have not tried installing QuickTime separately, but my understanding is that they had already attempted that previously.
6. I've run SpyBot in an attempt to clear out Spyware, as well as F-Prot for viruses. Obviously, though, neither of those things appear to be the cause of this problem. Additionally, I've made sure virus scanning was turned off during attempts to install iTunes.
So, I'm not really sure where to go from here. Now, as noted above, this is a university-purchased laptop (Dell, but I am not sure of the exact model off hand; though I can find out if need be.) This leads to most vexing question I have:
Is it theoretically possible that this computer, being set up and administered by the school itself, would only allow administrative service to the school's Computer Network Services department which handles them? Going back to point 4 above, I noted that there were several different logins available on the "Run as..." menu, only one of which seems to be accessible to the students themselves (their personal login.) As noted however, there are other logins present on the "Run as..." menu, including one marked with the student's name + "administrator." Logically, I would expect that the students would have access to this since it bears their names, but we don't seem to have any password that works. Is it possible there's a default password in this case?
My inclination at the moment is to take it to the CNS desk and enquire about it, since all of the other logins have passwords unknown to us. Whether or not they would be able to help, I'm not sure. But I'm at a loss for other ideas at present, aside from playing with variations of the other steps I've taken.
That being the case, if anyone could offer any advice (assuming you understand this mess I've posted here :P,) either in regard to the aforementioned or anything else I haven't tried, it would be greatly appreciated.
She's tried calling apple support already, and after spending several hours on the phone, they told her they didn't understand what was wrong and that she should have the HD re-imaged. That seems a last-resort sort of thing to me, however, and I'm finding it difficult to believe that there is no more reasonable solution to this problem.
So once again, if anyone can offer any helpful advice, I thank you very much in advance!

Oh yes, we actually just tried the "delayed install" with 4.9 a little while ago and I'm quite happy to say it did the trick (with a bit of trial and error and a fair amount of quirkiness, at any rate.)
i keep getting these startling mental images of people hunched over their PCs, mice poised and ready to strike at the offending processes ... still, beats uninstalling and reinstalling SP2 ...
there's some nice work going on in the forum community on the =0/lady-vanishes problems at the moment. may be worth periodically checking in on progress. we may not get a one-size-fits-all-solution, but we may well make some more progress on some of the epicycles relevant to your situation.

Hi Guys, im Currently running tiger on my MacBook i have an original Leopard disc but it has been badly scratched and therefore it wont install, i was wondering if i bought the snow leopard upgrade would i need to install Leopard before i installed snow?

If your Intel-based Mac is running Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, just purchase Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and follow the simple installation instructions.
Upgrading from Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger.
If your Intel-based Mac is running Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger, purchase the Mac Box Set, which is a single, affordable package that includes Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard; iLife ’09, with the latest versions of iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD; and iWork ’09, Apple’s productivity suite for home and office including Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Technical articles have been written saying that you can install the former on a Tiger system without issue. In fact the document PDF says you can erase and install from the Snow Leopard installer disc without issue.
While it is true the license agreement is in form of PDF, I would not question the intent of the column of the technical specs.
What would be very interesting to find out is if the Snow Leopard disc in the $29.95 box is identical to the Mac Box Set. Thus far I haven't yet heard one way or the other. iLife '08 has been found to be compatible with Snow Leopard:

Thus the only logical indication why the specs would require you buy the Mac Box Set instead of the regular Snow Leopard set for Tiger Intel Mac users who do not have a license for regular Leopard, would be is if it is licensed that way. And the license has always on Apple's operating systems been an honor system. Still since the license is legal, we need to mention that whenever posting to the Apple forums.
