Post to a servlet from a PL/SQL procedure

I would like to know if it's possible to post a form from pl/sql. There is this servlet that does stuff but it doesn't have any api i can call so i can only post the parameters to the servlet using an html form. Each form element is added to the http header so i just have to create a header and send it to the servlet but i don't really know how to do this using pl/sql.

Meanwhile i have found the solution myself.
This is the snippet that sends a post form to a webpage:
declare
v_url varchar2(400) := 'myUrl';
v_post varchar2(4000);
HTTP_REQ    utl_http.REQ;
HTTP_RESP   utl_http.RESP;
begin
v_post := 'param1=value1&param2=value2';
HTTP_REQ := utl_http.BEGIN_REQUEST(v_URL, 'POST', 'HTTP/1.1');
utl_http.SET_HEADER(HTTP_REQ, 'Content-Type', 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded');
utl_http.SET_HEADER(HTTP_REQ, 'Content-Length', length(v_post));
utl_http.WRITE_TEXT(HTTP_REQ, v_post);
HTTP_RESP := utl_http.GET_RESPONSE(HTTP_REQ);
end;This post the parameters and values from v_post to the url. In the HTTP_RESP i get the status_code so i can check if it's ok or there was a server error (code 500).

  • Basic Report Run from a PL/SQL Procedure

    I am hosed trying to start a BI Publisher report from a PL/SQL procedure. Basically, I have a procedure with a local variable defined as an XMLType. I need to call an RTF source, pass the xmlfile in and tell the RTF Engine where to send the output.
    The users guide implies that it involves calls to a Java program and I am totally ignorant of Java.
    I have successfully linked the RTF source into the XML_Publisher application and previewed it against a known data set. hat works.
    So, if I have a PL/SQL package with the local variable L_XML defined as XMLTYPE
    and an output file L_OUTBUT defined as VARCHAR2(100), what do I use to call the RTF Processor and generate the report to the output file?
    That is
    declare
    l_xml xmltype;
    l_output varchar2(100);
    begin
    -- stuff to build the xml variable
    -- insert the call to FTP Processor here Apparently, it should be
    -- something like
    package.procedure('linked_rtf file name', l_xml, l_output);
    end;
    If this calls a Java script, would also appreciate a sample copy of the script.
    My need is desperate so any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Frank

    I don't think you can. The parameters passed to a VB dll are formatted differently than a C dll, especially strings. I know a C program has to use special data structures when working with a VB dll, and this is basically what Oracle is doing.
    It should be possible, however, to create a C dll that acts as a wrapper for the VB dll. I'm not sure this would save you anything, though. If you have to do that you may as well write the function in C.

  • Generating an xml from a pl/sql procedure

    Hi Friends,
    I have come up with a requirement to generate an xml from a pl/sql procedure.
    I did some R & D and also got some sample procedures but could not understand the datatypes being used.
    The procedure declares variables like this:
    doc                  xmldom.DOMDocument;
    mainNode         xmldom.DOMNode;
    headerElem      xmldom.DOMElement; Pls could anyone tell what do these xmldom.DOMDocument, xmldom.DOMNode and xmldom.DOMElement mean?
    Later in the procedure, these variables are assigned values like
    doc      := xmldom.newDOMDocument;
    mainNode := xmldom.makenode(doc); This went a bouncer on me.
    Pls help.
    Thanks in advance ...!

  • Posting to a servlet from a class in a jar on the server

    I'm trying to modify a 3rd party applet that displays documents pulled from a database to post back to the server whenever the user pages up/down into a new document. The primary functionality of the applet is in place and working, the only change I am trying to make is to get the applet to post back to the server when the document being viewed changes so that we can keep track of documents open on the server side.
    The document viewer in the applet does have documented, though limited, ways to modify its functionality through properties files. I've added page up/down buttons to the correct properties file and specified button implementation classes as is dictated by their documentation. However, the problem I've run into is that since these page up/down classes are supposed to be placed in a jar file on the server and sent to the applet via the ARCHIVE parameter of the APPLET tag; these classes can not actually submit a post request back to the servlet.
    Since these classes exist outside of the world of the web app and applet, they don't have access to any of the connection, session, or cookie info in order to have an address to post back to, much less hold the correct session during the post. I tried hard-coding a URL to send the post request to for the sake of testing, but I'm still not seeing the post request being sent to the servlet. Here is the code I used to post the request, just in case it's a stupid mistake on my part.
    URL localURL = new URL("http://localhost:8080/appDir/ServletName");
                    localURLConnection = localURL.openConnection();
                    localURLConnection.setRequestProperty("method", "POST");
                    localURLConnection.setDoOutput(true);
                    Properties paramProperties = new Properties();
                    paramProperties.put("command", "nextDocument");
                    OutputStream localOutputStream = paramURLConnection.getOutputStream();
                    ObjectOutputStream localObjectOutputStream = new ObjectOutputStream(localOutputStream);
                    localObjectOutputStream.writeObject(paramProperties);
                    localObjectOutputStream.flush();
                    localObjectOutputStream.close();While searching to find out why this code isn't posting to my servlet, I've been wondering about the viability of this approach as a whole as well. Ideally if I wanted to add a post request to an event generated by the applet, then I would want to modify the applet. But since the applet is in a 3rd party jar file, I've been trying to do things their way. However, assuming I could get the page up/down action classes to post correctly, wouldn't I need some way of preserving the session that this action came from so that the right user's applet would be updated with the right document? The first thought that comes to mind on this involves writing out session/cookie data to temporary files on the server, but this sounds very ugly and insecure; plus I'd have to worry about making sure the files were uniquely named and that this unique name could be used in the page up/down classes. Is there a better way that I could be doing it?
    I apologize for the long winded explanation, but if anyone has any thoughts on either why my post request isn't going through or on the absurdity of my solution (and hopefully an alternate idea I could try), I'd be very appreciative.
    Thanks in advance.

    Well, when I've done URL connections from an applet session and cookies seem to have sorted themselves out. I'm not sure how, but there seems to be some functionality for it in the URLConnection class.
    I haven't tried setting the method like this, I always cast to HttpURLConnection and call setMethod to select POST. Your way might be right as well though.
    Have you checked the server access logs?
    It may be that your URL is rejected by the security manager for not having the same form of the hostname as the original applet retrieval.
    You should be able to get a domain name and port from the "code source" of your code, which will reference the online jar it comes from. You can generally get at this as getClass().getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation(), or less elegantly by requesting the current class file as a resource.

  • Question: How to call a BPEL process from a PL/SQL procedure

    Hi All,
    Greetings to all BPEL people. I have a question on how can we call a BPEL process from a PLSQL procedure. It might be a stupid question but i wanted to know whether this fetaure is available in BPEL as our scenario requires us to explore if this functionality is available in BPEL.
    Please let me know and also if possible please send me the links for the tutorials if it is available.
    Thanks In Advance,
    Dibya

    Yes u can do it. there are two ways.
    1) First one is using utl_http package of PL/SQL
    In this case u can create SOAP request message & send it as Http request to your deployed BPEL process.
    This package provides some methods like
    set_header,write_text,get_response,read_text etc..
    Following is part of code which may be helpful to you.
    create or replace package body test_book_order_sub_pkg
    is
    FUNCTION test_book_order_sub(p_subscription_guid IN RAW,
    p_event IN OUT WF_EVENT_T
                                            Return VARCHAR2 IS
    soap_request varchar2(30000);
    soap_respond varchar2(30000);
    http_req utl_http.req;
    http_resp utl_http.resp;
    launch_url varchar2(240) ;
         begin
         DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line('Subscription : Order has been booked');
         soap_request:='<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
         <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <soap:Header/>
    <soap:Body xmlns:ns1="http://xmlns.oracle.com/BES_BookOrder">
    <ns1:BES_BookOrderProcessRequest>
    <ns1:input>725</ns1:input>
    </ns1:BES_BookOrderProcessRequest>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>';
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request
    ('http://172.28.5.191:8888/orabpel/default/BES_BookOrder/1.0',
    'POST',
    'HTTP/1.1'
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml') ;
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Length', length(soap_request)) ;
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'SOAPAction', 'initiate');
         utl_http.write_text(http_req, soap_request) ;
    http_resp:= utl_http.get_response(http_req) ;
    utl_http.read_text(http_resp, soap_respond) ;
    utl_http.end_response(http_resp) ;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line(soap_respond);
    return('SUCCESS');
    end test_book_order_sub;
    end test_book_order_sub_pkg;
    2) Second way is make your BPEL process listening to some database Queue(use AQ Adapter). & then put some message in tht queue from ur Pl/SQL code . This will also initiate BPEL instance. Check out AQAdapter tutorials.

    RetVal:= BARIK.CDC_LOAD_CUBO_VIAJES.MAIN(P_ENV);
    RetVal:= BARIK.CDC_LOAD_CUBO_TICKETINCIDENCIA.MAIN(P_ENV);
    RetVal:= BARIK.CDC_LOAD_CUBO_LIQMONEDERO.MAIN(P_ENV);
    RetVal:= BARIK.CDC_LOAD_CUBOS_LIQTEMPORALES.MAIN(P_ENV);
    COMMIT;
    END;
    It doesn´t report any error (the value for RetVal after execution is 0), but the cubes are not loaded with changes, and the changes stored in the J$_%tables are not consumed.
    Some of the options that may impact in the mappings are:
    - All the CDC are of Simple type
    - There are more than one subscriber to consume the changes, as for some tables, its changes must feed more than one CDC.
    - All the mappings include only one execution unit per mapping.
    - The integration/load template is the default: DEFAULT_ORACLE_TARGET_CT
    Other question is: As I explained, I need more than one subscriber because same updates must be consumed by different CDC mappings, to load different cubes, but I´ve not been able to assign the subscribers to only the tables associated with them, so all the subscribers are subscribed to all the changes in all the CDC tables, but as many of those subscribers never consume the changes of same tables, in the J$_% tables remains the not consumed records, and I haven´t found the way to purge those tables (other than the delete from J$_), nor to assign the tables with the subscribers (so the subscribers are only subscribed to their interested changes, that will be consumed, so the tables will be emptied after the consumption).
    Any help with these problems will be greatly appreciated.
    Tell me if more info is needed to clarify the situation.
    Best regards,
    Ana

    Hi David,
    Thank you for your reply.
    These mappings are the mappings needed to update the cubes with the changes detected by the CDC system, they are located under the Mapping Templates folder and I´m using code templates for the control of the loading and the integration (the DEFAULT_ORACLE_TARGET_CT) mapping.
    What I need is to execute these mappings within a PL/SQL procedure that will be invoked from different tools.
    I´ve done it for regular mappings (not CDC mappings), and it works. The code is the same as for the CDC ones:
    PROCEDURE "PROC_RUNLOADMAPPINGS" IS
    --inicializar variables aquí
    RetVal NUMBER;
    P_ENV WB_RT_MAPAUDIT.WB_RT_NAME_VALUES;
    -- ventana principal
    BEGIN
    RetVal:= BARIK.LOAD_CUBO_RECARGA.MAIN(P_ENV);
    RetVal:= BARIK.LOAD_CUBO_TOR.MAIN(P_ENV);
    RetVal:= BARIK.LOAD_CUBO_TOAE.MAIN(P_ENV);
    RetVal:= BARIK.LOAD_CUBO_VIAJES.MAIN(P_ENV);
    RetVal:= BARIK.LOAD_CUBO_TICKETINCIDENCIA.MAIN(P_ENV);
    COMMIT;
    END;
    -- End of PROC_RUNLOADMAPPINGS;
    ,and when I run it, the mappings are executed, but with the CDC ones it doesn´t (even when no error is reported).
    I know that they are deployed in the selected agent (in my case the Default_Agent), but when I start them from the OWB, the mapping packages are created in the DB schema, so, I thought that maybe I could invoke them....so what you tell me is that the only way to invoke them is from SQL*Plus? not from a regular PL/SQL procedure?
    Thank you very much,
    Ana

  • How to download output from a PL/SQL Procedure

    Hi all
    I have set up a PL/SQL procedure that sets up the mime type etc.
    to download the output but IE keeps telling me it can't get the
    file. I think that it's something to do with the browser wanting
    to just GET the file and getting extra stuff because the mime
    header is being sent every time. Anyone managed to do this?
    Code sample follows:
    create or replace procedure x
    is
    begin
    owa_util.mime_header('application/force-download',false,null);
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment;
    filename="timeline.html"');
    htp.p('Pragma: no-cache');
    htp.p('Cache-Control: no-cache');
    htp.p('Expires: Thu, 01 Jan 1970 12:00:00 GMT');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    htp.p('<HTML>');
    htp.p('<body>');
    htp.p('Hello there man');
    htp.p('</body>');
    htp.p('</HTML>');
    end;

    What version are you on?
    Works fine for me on my 11g:
    SQL> create or replace procedure testxml (clob_out out clob)
      2  is
      3     l_clob   clob;
      4     l_ctx    dbms_xmlquery.ctxhandle;
      5  begin
      6     l_ctx := dbms_xmlquery.newcontext ('select * from dual');
      7     l_clob := dbms_xmlquery.getxml (l_ctx);
      8     clob_out := l_clob;
      9     dbms_xmlquery.closecontext (l_ctx);
    10  end testxml;
    11  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL>
    SQL> variable vout clob;
    SQL>
    SQL> exec testxml (:vout)
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    SQL> print vout
    VOUT
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <ROWSET>
       <ROW num="1">
          <DUMMY>X</DUMMY>
       </ROW>
    </ROWSET>But definitely you can optimize your proc a bit: Try
    create or replace procedure testxml (clob_out in out nocopy clob)
    is
       l_ctx    dbms_xmlquery.ctxhandle;
    begin
       l_ctx := dbms_xmlquery.newcontext ('select * from dual');
       clob_out := dbms_xmlquery.getxml (l_ctx);
       dbms_xmlquery.closecontext (l_ctx);
    end testxml;

    Hi,
    Before this you have to prepare your internal table with tab delimeter structure with data.
    data: wa_appl_title like line of appl_title.
           concatenate fhdr '/file_details_'
                        sy-datum '_' sy-uzeit '.txt' into fhdr.
    *MOD01 - start.
           open dataset fhdr for output in text mode." ENCODING DEFAULT.
            open dataset fhdr for output in text mode ENCODING DEFAULT.
    *MOD01 - end.
            if sy-subrc = 0.
              clear wa_appl_title.
              read table appl_title into wa_appl_title index 1.
              if sy-subrc = 0.
                transfer wa_appl_title to fhdr.
              endif.
              loop at appl_it.
                transfer appl_it to fhdr.
              endloop.
              close dataset fhdr.
              write: / text-t05.
            else.
              write: /  text-t04.
            endif.
    After this you view in AL11 tranx.
    let us know any thing else you need.
    Thanks,
    Deepak.
