Posting Comments to iWeb Blogs is Not Easy :-(
We have created a Family Blog and now all are trying to post comments to a nephew/cousin in the Army in Afghanistan.
Most all have called and emailed to say they are having HUGE issues trying to post a comment to their nephew/cousin in the Army in Afghanistan.
They ALL have had trouble and have had to try numerous times.
They particularly have issues trying to put in the "verification code". So far this silly code has prevented all of our messages from being seen by their cousin/nephew.
Passwords and codes do nothing but screw up the owners and users and so far iWeb proves this true.
This "Gong Show" should NOT be happening! Come on iWeb, please fix this and make this easier for our family to send comments to their relative in Afghanistan.
Fred ~ An alternative to iWeb's blog is to hyperlink from your iWeb site to a free Posterous blog, perhaps via their Posterous Blog Widget — see here.
Posterous has "dead simple group blogging by email" where each of your three possible blogs can now have multiple contributers — see here.
Posterous group blogs are email lists too, in that you can get instant email notifications for new posts — see here.
General info about Posterous blogs is in their FAQ. ...Group members can contribute text, photos, sound and video files, etc. to a Posterous blog simply by email. Plus there is the usual commenting capability plus comment alerts for the account holder.

Suddenly unable to post comments on iWeb blog - image verification error
People suddenly can't post comments to my blog page (web.me.com/stannerory). I've tried this myself, and posting continuously fails at the image verification process, one receives an error message that says the letters entered don't match the image, yet they do. Someone suggested that cutting the comment, closing, reopening, and pasting, and doing the process a second time would work, but I haven't found this to be successful either. Is there some kind of a workaround? Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks for your efforts.
It seems to be intermittent now, which is an improvement. I still can't add or remove a comment without fail. It's some consolation that it might be a server issue, but if it were, wouldn't there be all kinds of unhappy Apple users complaining about the issue, AND wouldn't the mobileMe website have some kind of problem indicator light flashing? Of course it would. -
IWeb Blog- RSS not updated for new Comments?
Hey gang-
It appears that Comments added to Blog entries on an iWeb site do not appear in RSS updates to that Blog. Is there any way to make them do that?
Thanks!
DaveFollow-up post. Strangely, when checking ths RSS feed from IE at work, I see the new posts in the source data of the feed. So this is not an iWeb problem, but probably related to the more general RSS update issues within Safari.

Using Facebook Comments for iWeb Blog (non mobile me domain)
Upon moving from a mobileme hosted iWeb created blog to a personal domain, I obviously lost ability to use iWeb commenting. That in-of-itself was frustrating, so I've been scouting out new possibilities. Some have recommended IntenseDebate and others, but I'm curious if anyone has had luck using Facebook Comments? http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments
I've been able to use the Facebook Like HTML as a Widget not a problem, but haven't been able to get Comments to work.
www.kellerowski.com
Thanks in advance! That is because it is a plugin and plugins won't work with iWeb as far as I am aware.
I would try http://www.intensedebate.com. It is very easy to set up and it works and you will be notified by e-mail every time somebody posts a comment. I use IntenseDebate on my own site and it works very well for me.
Your other alternative of course is to ditch the iWeb blog and create a blog link to a blog created in WordPress - you can use http://www.wordpress.org too if you uploading to another host, so you will then have www.domain.com/Blog. -
Why can't I post comments on (blogger) blogs that I follow?
I am a blogger and I follow several blogs. A big part of the blogging community is commenting and sharing. Every time I try to comment on my Macbook Pro (or iPhone or iPad) the comments won't post. When I click publish or preview and it refreshes the text box is blank. Why?
I believe I did an update and the problem is resolved. (I am honestly not sure what changed from this morning but I am able to post comments.) Sorry for the troubles.

Posting to an iWeb blog from an iPhone
I'm about to do a big charity walk (Wainwright's Coast to Coast). I'd like to post to a blog on my iWeb website. Can someone tell me if I can do this easily and how please? Many thanks Ian Smith
I think you need to ask in the iWeb forum, or find some people who really use iWeb blogs. My sense is that the iWeb platform is pretty limited, but I don't really know.
I'm pretty sure there is no iWeb app for the iPhone. Ask Apple for one here:
http://apple.com/feedback
So one question is--does iWeb let you use the XML-RPC protocol that seems to be the standard for blogging clients? Or some other standard? If so, presumably an iPhone blog client like this could be set up:
http://appshopper.com/social-networking/iblogger
but you need some people who know iWeb to help you figure out what the settings would be.
Or maybe iWeb has a Post-by-Email capability? Again, ask iWeb experts.
If iWeb doesn't support any of those, you could certainly set up a WordPress.com blog or something--they have both post-by-email and a blogging app. Or Blogger/Blogspot or any major blogging platform. Maybe iWeb has the ability to show an RSS feed on your iWeb blog, so that it would show links to the WP.com posts that you make.
A charity walk sounds made for Twitter, though, if you ask me. -
I created a website and a blog using iWeb 3.0.4 but no body can leave any comments, even when I had checked the box allowing comments. Help anyone?
Thanks!!
CapechicWhat's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? Where are you hosting your blog website? If it's not to MobileMe that's the reason they can't. Do you have an Add a Comment link showing?
If so what happens when someone tries to add a comment?

Can't post comments to Blog site
Since .Mac switched to Me.com, I cannot see comments on my blog site.
I can post/publish to the site from iWeb and others have said they can post comments (using Firefox, but not Safari). But when I go to view the comments, I get an error message:
# Exception: TypeError
# Message : Value undefined (result of expression postLinks.forEach) is not object.
# File : Comments.js, Line:138
I have not done anything differently in how I'm publishing the page.
I am using Safari 3.1.2 to view the site.
I am using iWeb '08 2.0.4 to publish the site.
I have also tried to use Firefox (3.0.1) to see the comments, and get this error message:
# Exception: TypeError
# Message : postLinks.forEach is not a function
I can see the comments if I open iWeb and read down the page. I cannot post comments using iWeb though.
Any ideas?

People cant leave comments on my blog!! Help!!!
Ho there guys & girls, I need a little bit of help please. I have had a blog now for about three weeks and I am getting numerous people emailing me through my web site sying that they want to leave a comment but cant, any ideas. I dont want to have to create a new blog for fear of the url chaning , and I have this coming out on my new brochure soon.
Any help asap would be great,
cheers, BrettWelcome to the discussions, Brett. Is you iWeb site hosted on .Mac? ...If not, blog comments aren't supported.
Here's what iWeb's Help viewer says:
Allowing visitors to add comments and attachments...
If you publish your site to .Mac, you can let visitors post comments to your blog or podcast entries.
To allow visitors to add comments and attachments:
Select a blog or podcast page in the site organizer.
If the Blog & Podcast Inspector isn't open, click Inspector in the toolbar (or choose View > Show Inspector), and then click the Blog & Podcast Inspector button.
In the Blog pane of the inspector, select "Allow comments."
To permit visitors to attach files (such as images) to their comments, select "Allow attachments."
If you later deselect the "Allow comments" checkbox, no new comments may be added; previously written comments are not affected.
Tip: Only group members can post comments to a website published to a group. To limit who can post to your site, you can password-protect it. -
Help! mobileme free Comments on iWeb (Gravatar)?
Hi,
Is there a way of adding comments to an iWeb page? I want to use wordpress for my blog but integrate it with my main iweb site, but unfortunately there are no ways of posting comments on iWeb without using mobileme (which is not an option at that price), which i require for my photo pages.
Otherwise i'd have to create all the pages on wordpress but its not as easily customisable as iWeb :/ So I wondered whether i could enable comments with some sort of plugin, preferably gravatar seeing as thats what i use on wordpress, but have no idea how to do this!
Please help ASAP,
DanHate to disappoint. I've been looking for over a year with no luck.
I've been told by the heads much more clever than myself that iWeb requires MobileMe servers for fully functional blogs and photo galleries. Nobody could make work the serverside databases necessary for running this show within iWeb.
I've been using MobileMe since it's inception and am happy with it. I know the $$ are painful, but just hear me out!
MobileMe is more expensive than other services out there, I agree. THe premium paid is for the ease of use and integration with Apple apps.
Now, think about this:
How much do you pay for e-mail account which does push?
How much do you pay for website hosting? Do they give you 20GB of storage?
How much do you pay for an application which does one click publishing?
Do other services automatically back up your calendars, keychains and documents to a server?
If your answer to all this os zero $$$, then I'd suggest you get a bootleg copy of Dreamweaver, build your own blog site, post it on your own computer, turn on web sharing, sign up for a free dyndns.org account to lock up your free domain to your dynamic IP address and you are ready to run your own picture blog from home. Minus the Apple one-click experience, of course...... -
Possible to move Blog entry w/ comments from one blog to another?
Is it possible to take a blog entry and comments from (iWeb) Blog #1 and put them into (iWeb) Blog #2? I can see how moving the pictures and text would be easy......... but I also see that moving Comments might be a No-No.
Lorna in Southern CaliforniaHi Lorna
well I did it just last night. I copied and pasted and the page is still fully functional.
I don't know what the "experts" would say but ya can't get much more "hands on expert" than the fact that I just did it and it worked.
I made a page below my blog in iWeb. Then I just copied & pasted to the new one. I had to adjust on the page (move to fit for the new format) and I had to rename the "entries." Then I deleted the old blog and renamed the new one in iweb.

Comments on the blog of iweb '06 does not work
When someone tries to leave a comment on my blog on my iweb website, it seems to not allow people to do so. What could the problem possibly be?
If you still have problems with comments on your iWeb blog, you could hyperlink from your iWeb site to a web-based blog. For example, the free Posterous is as simple as blogging gets — you can post a blog entry via email or from a web browser:
...And since your blog would no longer be stored on your Mac, you'll avoid the future possibility of having to do a long and slow +Publish All+.
If you went with a new blogging system, you could perhaps use an archiving app such as iterasi to preserve your current blog for posterity before removing it from iWeb. -
Blog post comments not working
Hi there,
I have a couple of sites, both set up with a blog:
http://cyberworkshop.co.nz/blog/video-blog
http://www.sjorakei.school.nz/blog/lorem_ipsum_dolor_3
For some reason when you add a comment to either blog post this message appears:
ERROR: An error occurred. Image verification failed. If you believe this is incorrect, please contact your system administrator or go back and re-submit the form.
I definitely had comments working on the School site at one point and I cant figure out how to correct this.
Any pointers on how to fix this would be most appreciated.
Thanks, BenHi Ben,
For the first site, it looks like captcha is commented out on the Blog Post Detail layout: http://screencasteu.worldsecuresystems.com/Florin/2013-10-20_1259.png
On the second site, you also had a problem in the javascript on the blog post detail layout.
I've corrected the Javascript now, and you get an error message pop-up when trying to submit a comment without filling in the captcha.
Thanks,
Florin -
How do I enable comments on an iWeb blog that is not hosted by MobileMe?
How do I enable comments on a blog that was created in iWeb and hosted by Go Daddy service?
You can install your own comment page using various methods...
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Comments-Password-Protect.html
Example...
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWebMusicWebsite/Comment.html
The alternative is to move your blog to Wordpress and retrieve all your comments from MobileMe before it disappears...
