Posting from FICA to another instance

Is it at all possible to post directly from SAP FICA or CD in one instance to SAP FICO in another instance or should the initial posting be done in the SAP FICA instance and the transfer it via I-docs or something similar to FICO in the other instance?

The second approach is the correct one - you can make use of idocs to communicate GL postings form one system to the consolidated system. There must be GL in the same system as the FICA so that reconciliation can be done. SAP has many clients who use distributed landscape with GL idocs.

Error while creating the view from one instance to another instance

I want to Create a view which reside in one instance for example xxx Instance . I want to create the same view which reside in xxx instance to another instance for example YYY Instance How to acheive this ?
I tried desc the View take the view script from XXX instance and copied the view script to YYY instance when I compiled Iam getting an Error

ATIt's still not at all clear, but let me outline what I think you are after
Given a database, ORCL_A
In database ORCL_A we have a schema, HALFTRACK
User HALFTRACK has a table, MYSTUFF
Given a database, ORCL_B
In database ORCL_B we have a user GREENBRASS
User GREENBRASS needs to be able to query the table HALFTRACK.MYSTUFF.
In database ORCL_B, as user GREENBRASS
create database link mylink
connect to halftrack identified by halftracks_pswd
using ORCL_A;
select * from mytable@mylink;The db link defines a connection specification to ORCL_A, using the credentials of a user on ORCL_A. The target of the USING clause in the link definition must be an entry in the tnsames.ora file on the server hosting database ORCL_B.
When querying through the link, database ORCL_B is simply acting as a client to ORCL_A, no different that a sqlplus session on ORACL_B's server. As far as ORCL_A is concerned, ORCL_B is just another client requesting a connection, connecting with the credentials defined in the link definition.

Tried to upgrade from firefox 3.6.2 to 3.6.3, error message says another instance of firefox is running, then 3.6.2 opens. This occurs when i start firefox after restarting the computer, or when i try to install the upgrade

Whenever i try to open firefox, i get a message that firefox cannot install the upgrade because another instance of firefox is running. Then firefox 3.6.2 will start. running windows 7 64 bit. This will occur every time i try to open firefox, after rebooting or any time i close it and reopen firefox.

Do a clean (re)install and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

Custom Field values are not saved. when MPP imported from another instance.

Hello Mate-
Currently I am merging one small instance (I2) of PWA in our corporate instance(I1). as the corporate instance is huge, we are doing manual merge of groups, securities, users, custom fields etc. also downloading the MPP as xml from I2 and then planned
to publish from I1.
There are few project level custom fields which are being used in MPP. and those fields may have formulas too.
I created same custom field in crporate environment(I1) but while trying to open the projects in our corporate environment(I1), the project custom fields are gone.
Could you please guide me here, I am lost. I can not do a data base migration ans it would override all data from I1 instance so need to do it manually.

You may not be able to do this as the custom field GUID's are different in both the instance.
You may write a macro to copy the custom field data from one to another one

Hi
General procedure is to zip all the java & xml page files and copy to dev instance. Then you can write a shell script to extract the zipped files and place it in appropriate locations.
If there are any AOL objects defined by you, then you need to include that in shell script

Importing Custom folder in Discoverer Administrator from One Instance to Another Instance

Hi all,
I have created a custom folder XXHR_TEST_FOLDER_OLM in Discoverer Administrator 10.1.2.1 in my test instance. I want to move it to another instance say UAT. First i exported the folder from test instance. File-> Export -> Selected Objects in the End User Layer->Selected Custom folder->Provided Save location and finish. The eex file is created in my local machine. Now I tried to import the same to the UAT instance. File-> Import. It throws me an warning stating
"A folder named 'XXHR_TEST_FOLDER_OLM' was created or modified during the import but is not in a business area". What am i missing here. Kindly let me know.

For deploying pages to Production instance , you need import these pages with help with oracle.jrad.tools.xml.importer.XMLImporter command. Check old thread in this reference .

Posting from one company code to another company code

Hi all,
For functional reasons in SAP FS CD (insurance) we had to split up an administration in several company codes. Is it possible to post all GL transactions in FiCo from the insurance company codes to the target company code automatiucally every day or week?
I haven't been able to find a transaction yet. I'm looking for something like the way "distibution" or "assessment" are used in CO but then for posting from one company code to another on the same GL accounts (both CC's use the same chart of accounts).

You can do it by substitution rules - GGB4 or EDI / IDOCs.

CC Updater - U44M1I11 Another Instance is Running

Seems like just last month I was struggling with this problem with CS6. Oh wait, I was:

So now I'm back with CC. Installed all the programs today. Hit Update and of course Photoshop, Premiere, and Audition failed their Updates. Error this time was:
There was an error installing this update. Please try again or contact customer support. (U44M1|11)
I see that root spawns the Adobe Application Manager (Updater) process when I hit the Update button. Then the update fails.

I've already done that stuff. I'm so aggravated with this auto updater, it just doesn't work out of the box. This is a brand new 10.9 system, nothing else on it, except for CC, and it won't run it's updates after it's been installed.

Should have waited a few more minutes before posting the above issue. I fixed it, but the workaround is pretty poor. Adobe, you have problems with the root user spawning the updater's processes. Simple as that.
Here's my fix:
Enable the root user and give it a password in the Directory Utility (Users Groups/Login Options/Network Account Server/Open Directory Utility)
Curse Adobe for forcing you to enable the root user and thus provide another attack vector on your machine
Open Terminal
su to become the root user
Navigate to /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC/Adobe Photoshop CC.app/Contents/MacOS
Run Photoshop as root by using ./Adobe Photoshop CC
Photoshop yelled at me for a password to run something when it started up, I ignored it
Use the Update... option in the Help menu.
Note in Activity Manager that this has been spawned by Root
Check off the boxes of programs you want to update, let the updater run. You will have to close out of Photoshop and then quit it by hitting Control C in your Terminal window
You may also have to go into Activity Manager and Force Quit the logtranspot2 process.
Wait for the update to complete
Quit Terminal
Quit and re-open the Creative Cloud app and verify all the programs show as "Up to Date"
Disable the root user
Curse Adobe for forcing you to do this every time you want to update your Creative Cloud programs. It's not very convienent.
So anyway, there's your fix. Hope it saves someone else a few hours of aggravation.

Failed to initialize the network. Check if another instance of agent is

Out of the blue a small number of my Windows XP PCs get the following error
when logging in. Usually appears while login script page is on screen:-
Failed to initialize the network. Check if another instance of agent is
running. Contact the system administrator
Once XP has loaded ok I can manually start the Remote Management service.
Some PCs are intermittent and don't seem to get it again but a couple get it
every login. I removed the client and reinstalled. I removed the Remote
Management service and re-installed. Re-registered the PC Workstation but no
change for those who get it every day.
I did find this:-
Failed to initialize the network. Check if another instance of agent is
running. Contact the system administrator

Severity: Critical
Possible Cause: The Remote Management Agent is unable to bind to the IPX or
IP port that is being used for Remote Management service, or the ports are
being used by some other application running on the managed workstation.
Action: Uninstall any third-party remote control agent or remote control
application using these ports from the managed workstation.
Possible Cause: The protocol stack is corrupted.
Action: Reinstall the protocol stack.
Possible Cause: The managed workstation is not connected to the network, or
the network is down.
Action: Connect the managed workstation to the network.
I don't have any third party remote control agent installed and I've tried
the refresh of the IP protocol stack. Surprised this has started as we have
not made any changes to the network or software. We run NW Client 4.83sp1
and NW5.1 sp5.
Anybody else had this and cleared it completely?

Further developments:
It looks like it's a fault in the nic. it's a Compaq NC3120 Fast Ethernet
card. It used to work, but since I've wiped out the card drivers that were
in use, I'm at HP's mercy. They are telling me that the card is no longer
under warranty and won't even tell me what driver to look for. Anything I've
managed to find has the exact same symptoms:
Client works, ping to IP addresses work, ping to www.yahoo.com (etc) doesn't
work, although winipcfg shows a DNS server the same as every other machine I
have.
Internet explorer doesn't work, even with IP addresses to local servers.
And of course, zenrc32 doesn't work, wsreg32 doesn't work.
Does anyone know of a way of making the NC3120 work on a win98 machine?
Shall I just go buy a couple dozen netcards from a more reputable company
than compaq?

Derivation Of partner profit center in COPA (Direct Posting from FI)

When posting from SD partner profit center is derived and transfered to COPA, so eliminations can take place.
When ever we made posting from SD, Partner profit center is coming from derivation rule which is exclusively for sales and maintained in transaction code 8KER.But whenever we made direct posting in FI, Data is transferred to COPA before profit center is derived as system does not find any data from COPA or in other words there is no any Derivation rule or table lookup or user exists in COPA from where we can derive the Partner profit center.
For testing purpose I made a derivation rule in COPA in KEDR with the same logic used in 8KER, Partner profit center is coming in COPA from this derivation rule. Derivation logic used in 8KER is very simple : source filed is KUNNR from table KNA1 and target Field is Partner Profit Center : PPRCTR from table CEPC.
I mean that i derive the partner profit center from customer number in 8KER transaction which is only for SALES and in EC-PCA only.
Now whenever I do a direct posting from FI, suppose using transaction code F-02
but partner profit center is not coming. I made a another derivation rule in KEDR in COPA and maintained the rule values there and I got the success for deriving the partner profit center.
But my query is that If I am maintaing rule values in 8KER then why I maintain the same duplicate data in KEDR.Can we use the same rule values from 8KER for direct posting of FI.
I have tried with Table lookup, derivation rule in KEDR but not getting any success.
Please tell me that without maintaing rule values in KEDR (as these are already maintain in 8KER)how I can derive the partner profit center from FI posting.Or in other words i can say that how we can get both PCA as well as COPA document with partner profit center in case of FI direct posting.

You can't do what you want with iCloud. You will need to setup remote access to your main computer with VPS or some similar remote access application. With VPS you have an application running on your main computer turning it into a server and an client app on your laptop so you can access it remotely. There are many such apps out there, some probably more feature filled than VPS. You might post in the system forum that you're running and ask there.
