Posting Links on my Blog

I am new to iWeb. I am trying to start a blog. In blogs I have seen, often on the right side there is a column of topics and links to sites of those various topics. I can't see how to do that via iWeb. Is this possible?

Welcome to the discussions, Rossrosen.
You will not get a 'topic' nav schedule.
What iWeb will create is fairly straightforward; you will have a main blog page which displays a limited number of your blog entries, the entry page itself for each entry, and an archive page. The layout of all of this is done for you by default, and cannot be changed in the application itself.

I'm publishing to a folder and using FileZilla to upload the site. I simply click and drag all the files within my site folder onto the site. I did not click and drag the folder, because then it gives me the address http://HealthyDayFitness.com/HealthyDayFitness/Welcome.html. Looks messy in my opinion.
I'm a little confused on what you mean by blank spaces on the page name... This is the blog page that works: http://healthydayfitness.com/Blog/Blog.html
If you click on "First Post," that's when things go haywire, but I don't see any blank spaces in that broken URL.
Any other thoughts? If not, I'll give the folder upload a try.

Best way to add new post link

What would be the best way to add a "new post" link on the main homepage that links to the appropriate blog page. Ideally, I'd like to put a small photo too.
Is the only way to manually add it every time I update, or is there a better way?

You can do it any number of ways. Link a shape, link text, or link a photo to the appropriate blog page, using the Inspector from the tool bar at the bottom of the iWeb window.
You are correct that the only way is to manually update each time. I don't know of any method to get the blog entries to auto update an indicator on the Home page in iWeb.
I have a site for a current project I'm on that has a "Shot of the Day" link on the Home page. As the site has gotten large, I have a duplicate of the Domain file for this site that contains nothing but this Home page. I update the page and then simply swap out the files on the server with the updated ones. Makes opening, editing, and saving the changes faster and easier than publishing the entire site each time. Here's an example of how I placed the link on the Home page...

Can an announcement link to a blog

Hello, can anybody answer this for me please?
I have a news announcement panel on the home page, I would like one of the announcements to link to a blog. I thought it would be a case of editing the url and adding the blog address BlogRetrieve.aspx?BlogID=7495. This doesn't work, I get this error caused by the ? and = I guess:
ERROR: URL is invalid or has more than 100 characters. The URL can only contain the following characters: a-z, 0-9, "_" and "-".
At present the Announcement link goes to an intermediary page which isn't ideal.
Is there a way around this?

Hi Grant.
The default link and way announcements work goes to its detail view. You can not change this behavior.
If your using the content preview tag to show preview content you can not run html in this either. So only in the blog.
Proper sollution is to build a web app for announcements that can have more functionality and you can create links to other items and even layouts and well... Do a lot more.

New Post Link Missing

I am signed in in the HP Support Forum.
I added the forum as a trusted site in my IE 8
I need to post a question about Solution Center and my HP Scanner 5590.
The Help systems says to click on the "New Post" Link near the top of the list.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?q=solution+center does not contain the mentioned link, nor does http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message.
If I search for "New Post" in the page I get only one match and it is the link for private messages, not for public posts.
What can I do?

Hi SergioTorresC,
The links you have given are to results pages for searches. To make a new post, simply click "Home" at the top left of any forum page. From this page, select the most appropriate location (forum) to post your issue. For example, if your issue is with a Laptop, you want to look in the "Notebook Computers (Laptops)" section for the most appropriate forum, then click the link to enter it.
The new post link will appear at the top left of each of these forum pages once selected.

Suddenly unable to post comments on iWeb blog - image verification error

People suddenly can't post comments to my blog page (web.me.com/stannerory). I've tried this myself, and posting continuously fails at the image verification process, one receives an error message that says the letters entered don't match the image, yet they do. Someone suggested that cutting the comment, closing, reopening, and pasting, and doing the process a second time would work, but I haven't found this to be successful either. Is there some kind of a workaround? Anyone else having this issue?

It seems to be intermittent now, which is an improvement. I still can't add or remove a comment without fail. It's some consolation that it might be a server issue, but if it were, wouldn't there be all kinds of unhappy Apple users complaining about the issue, AND wouldn't the mobileMe website have some kind of problem indicator light flashing? Of course it would.

Link to latest blog entry

All,
I would like to link directly to the latest blog entry.
By this I mean go to whatever was the last blog entry, not to the Blog.html. This is because I can't get the formatting I want on the main Blog.html page (image size/aspect, forward and back buttons for previous/next entries).
I assume that iWeb must know what the latest entry is, and therefore could create a dynamic link to that page?
Any help is appreciated.

Yes, the last entry and other entries in blog summary/archive page are kept in their .xml (kinda blog feed).
You can get the link to the blog entry using javascript, but this is heavy-duty javascript because you have to dive into javascript and AJAX.
It can be done, but I am not motivate to do it at the moment - geotagging is much more fun -

Hd webcam c525 will not post on a video blog

my new videos from logitech camera "HD Webcam C525" will not post on a video blog website.
-I've tried every which way: google, ie & firefox, no luck getting my video from hd webcam c525 to show on www.slvlogs.com -a video blog.
So i did a lot on firefox, remove flashplayer (or shockplayer) and vlc then reinstall them ---- download lots of things and etc. - now i'm able to record my video!!!!! But then i hit a "publish" button it's gone - didn't post at all (for replying or add video comment). :(
However, youtube works fine: i film myself and upload it on youtube then post it on www.slvlogs.com -just fine for new posts only. Sad part is that i can't reply or leave (add) a video comment.
Please help?

So I am hearing two issues, that the publish button disappeared and that you cannot add new comments to an embedded video.
It looks like on the site you must be logged in to make a comment: "Log in to Reply"

Problem posting to group wiki/blog using podcast capture

I am having a problem posting to 2 wiki blogs using podcast capture and montage workflow. A similar montage workflow works great on another group wiki blog. I am getting this log error:

Hallo,
Ich habe in meiner neuen Website auf der Seite "News" meinen Wordpress-Blog eingebettet. Hier der Code:

Jetzt habe ich auf der Startseite einen Link, der genau auf die Seite "News" im Blog-Fenster den Post anzeigen soll. Also, dass standard der Blog auf der Hauptseite angezeigt werden soll, wenn ich aber den Link anklicke, die "News"-Seite mit dem Post angezeigt wird. Gibt es dafür einen Code? Eigentlich müsste es funktionieren. Nur wie?

Das wird nicht klappen. Die entsprechenden Widgets holen sich ja immer nur den RSS-Feed und dessen Einstellungen hängen ausschließlich von WordPress ab. Der Link/ Slug des eigentlichen Artikels ist ja für jeden Post auf dem Blog anders. Wenn, dann müßtest du entsprechende WP-Plugins installieren, die benutzerdefinierte Feeds oder Links erzeugen, die sich extern abgreifen lassen und auf ein entsprechendes WP-Query verlinken, das immer unter der gleichen Adresse zu finden ist. Je nachdem, wo dein Blog gehostet ist und ob du dafür was bezahlst oder nicht wird das aber nicht gehen.
