Posting mp3 file on blog page (iweb)

Hello,
Hopefully, someone can help me. I have posted a mp3 file on my blog. It plays fine on iweb, but once published, does not play if viewed from the Internet. Can someone help? Thanks!

I appreciate the input, but I'm not sure it explains why that one link does not work. When I do finally publish the site (for real) on the internet, the tunes will be reduced to smaller sound clips, and not the whole song. The full-song version will be burned to disc, and handed out to industry folks at a trade show. It will take the place of a standard press kit. Right now, I'm just using this to show my clients, and get the thing working right. None of us can figure out why that one song won't play. But thanks so much for taking the time to look at it.

  • Missing text in posts in Archive on Blog page

I need help! When I go back through my archive on my blog page for the previous 10 months through iWeb, my entries start to appear as first, missing the text, and further back, missing text and pics! I am using it as a digital diary of my baby's development so am freaking out a bit. Any idea's on what is going wrong?? Thank you!

Welcome to the discussions. It's a common problem:
_blog archives missing text but photos still show_
    _Blank Blog Archive Page?_

Basically iWeb's blog is buggy and, in the end, it comes down to this:
_To blog or not to blog_

  • Making blank templates into my main Blog page (iWeb 1.1)

How do I make a blank template into the welcome page where all the blog entries will show up.
See I like the gazette template but I don't like the two collums on the blog page. I just want the one column on the page (I can delete the itims in one colum but it will still have that ugly stripe on the bakground). Well I can copy the things I want unto the blank template but how do I make that my welcome page so that when I make blog entries it will show up on that blank page?

Sorry I think I am confusing everybody. And not having all the names right etc. it is very confusing explaining what happens.
When you select Blog from a template. THat is what you will see when you visit somebodies site (if that is the only thing on there). We will call that the homepage. Well the Blog that I select (Gazette) has 3 colums. I only want 2. I don't want the colum all the way on the right side. I can delete all those entrie but it leaves a line there (that is the way that template works). But all my entries will show up with that line going through it.
Now I thought let's get the blank template and copy everything I need from the Blog template unto the blank template. It looks awesome. Except now I can't put blog entries into that blank template because it will make those entry in my blog template.
My question was if there is an easy way to make that blank template which looks like the blog template (with one less colum) my homepage which will include the new entries that I will make. Like somhow convert it to a blog template so it will have the arrow on the side which you can click and it will show you the entries and the archive.
But I think that link will work. I will get a blog template. Clean it and make it blank. And copy the content from the gazette template unto the clean blank blog template (that will include the blog entries). That is what I want.
So yes I think your link is the solution to my problem.

  • Using iWeb to Share mp3 Files

I would like to set up a page on a website made with iWeb to which I can post mp3 files of personal recordings of rehearsals I make with my barbershop quartet. I record the rehearsals using a Sony Minidisc recorder. With Garage Band I create a music project with a "Real Instrument" track and record the rehearsal/song into Garage Band. I then send the project to iTunes, and then convert the file into an mp3 file. I've posted these files to my iWeb-created website and published the site. They show up there as Quicktime files though. Although they can be played, they can't be downloaded by my pc friends so that they can burn them to CD's like other mp3 files, for their own reherasal use. Is there a way I can post these mp3 files so that others can download them?
    Thanks..

Instead of dragging and dropping the .mp3 files to your iWeb page (and making them into QT movies), you could just make links on your page either graphics or text and the use the Inspector hyperlink tab to attach the .mp3 files for download.

  • Uploading .mp3 files vs. uploading .band files for Podcast on iWeb

I teach high school and have my students creating audio files for podcast on my iWeb site. Most of the students give me their files in .band format, but some give them to me in .mp3 format.
    1) Can I upload the .mp3 file for podcasting to iWeb without turning it into a .band file (which I have been doing).
    2) When I drag the .mp3 file into the GarageBand program and then upload it to iWeb, the autopage looks different (no date, no place to write a little blurb, etc.) Is there any way to get them to look the same when using the Share>send to iWeb feature.
    3) I also receive frequent corrupted files (8-bit not supported with an abort button). I have never personally receive this message on files that I have created, but I can't figure out what my students are doing incorrectly--anyone know?
    Thanks for any possible help.

I am putting a link to what I am talking about--maybe that would help?

  • Weird colour on blog page :-S

Every time I drag an image to blog page, iWeb converts the image to somewhat over saturated and overlapping colour.
This happens only on the *blog page*, and only on the *main image*(both graphic and photo).
Is there any fix or solution to get accurate colours?
    Thanks

Try this: iWeb > Preferences and de-select +“Optimize images on import.”+
...If that doesn't help, post back indicating what kind of file type your images are, e.g. jpg, png, ...?
By the way, problems with iWeb's blog are a constant theme on these forums. Before you lose all your blog comments or the posts themselves, consider using a dedicated blogging platform such as Posterous. And there's a way to link to an external site (such as Posterous) directly from iWeb's navigation bar.

  • MP3 files not showing up in published folder

    Hi everyone,
A newbie question here: I have completed my site and published it to a folder, for later uploading to a webhost. I took a peek in my published folder and could not find any of the MP3 files that I had put on to my site. While I was creating the site, I dragged the MP3 files from iTunes to iWeb. Everything played just fine. But I'm figuring if I don't see any MP3 files in the published folder, they're not there.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!

Oy -- never mind. I found the files. See, I am a newbie...

  • Edge Animate file working on main blog page but not on the individual blog post in BC

I recently uploaded an edge animate file to my blog which is host on Business Catalyst (BC). The edge file works on the main blog page but not on the individual blog post. How can I solve this problem?
    I did the following steps:
I added the required Adobe Edge scripts on my main blog template.
Create folder on the server called "edge_includes" and uploaded the 'edge.5.0.0.min' file.
Create folder on the server called "js" and uploaded the 'jquery-1.7.1.min' file.
Copy and pasted the div to the part of the blog post I wanted the file to appear (<div id="Stage" class="EDGE-13973370"></div>).
Uploaded the name of the js file to the root called 'World of Code_edge.'
Uploaded the images to the existing folder called 'images.'

I'm still unable to figure out the problem.
Here is the link to the blog: http://goo.gl/sPW62j (the post titled "Basic Computer Science is a Fundamental Skill in the 21st Century Society").
Here is the link to the individual post: http://goo.gl/jTSgZH
Also, I get mixed results on the main blog page. Sometimes the image (Edge Animate file) on the main page shows and other times it does not. However, the image never shows on the individual blog post.

  • Blog page no longer works, mp3 now mov

I recently changed computers to a new iMac. After updating my podcast/blog using iWeb 2.0.4, at least three problems have occurred:
    1. some (not all) of my .mp3 files appear .mov files at iTunes
    2. the archive of the podcast page no longer works
    3. the blog page doesn't work
When you click on the blog page, it returns this error message:
    # Exception: TypeError
    # Message : Value undefined (result of expression $(parent).select) is not object.
    # File : BlogSummary.js, Line:147
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=286040700
    http://www.godwhisperers.com/TheGodWhisperers/Home/Home.html

OK. Here's what I did based on the recommendations above:
    1. I reconverted all the audio files with VBR. This seems to have stopped the conversion of .mp3 files to .mov video files.
    2. I reconstructed my blog. In hindsight, this may not have been necessary in view of #3.
    3. I published the site using File<Publish All to MobileMe. This took a LONG time; best leave it for an overnight exercise if you try this at home.
Upon awakening in the morning, lo and behold my site and its archives had returned! The only thing that didn't work was my iTunes link, which returned the news that my podcast was not available in the US store. I was using the short link as per the tech spec:
    <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://www.itunes.com/podcast?id=286040700
    This one works, however::
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=286040700
So it appears that Publish All is the trick when moving up to iWeb 2.0 from 1.0. And VBR seems to keep audio files as mp3 files, for reasons I do not understand. Thank goodness this was a relatively new podcast site with only 12 episodes.
If anyone has an explanation for the iTunes glitch above, I'd be most appreciative. I'm going to keep this thread alive until I post another episode to see what happens.
Thanks for the help so far.

  • My iWeb's main blog page has photos of entries all mixed up

My site is egsilberman.com and all but the main blog page is functioning.  The index.html looks perfect, the page listing all the blog pages using the index.html in the browser looks as it should.
But after uploading the site to my FTP - using iWeb SEO Tool - the main landing page of the blog has all the photos, except the most recent entry, mixed up.  The blog entries are in order, listed according to date, but the photos associated with the entries - the key photos shown on the main blog page - are all goofed up: randomly placed throughout the entries.
Oddly, all the blog pages are functioning fine.  It's just the main blog landing photos that're off.
On the iWeb side I've reloaded everything from scratch...trashed caches, plists, etc, but it doesn't seem to be the problem.  Again, the index.html site and blog (main page) are all in order. I'm not an expert by any means, so the change in the blog is confounding me.  It was working fine until earlier this week.
Is it the SEO uploader?  My FTP/host?  Something I could do to help?  I do not know what to do.  Any advice or direction would be appreciated.
    Thanks for considering this question.
    Evan

Roddy, thank you for many things.
Firstly, for your clear direction in encouraging me to upload my site AFTER SEO'ing it using a dedicated FTP. I used Cyberduck.  Then, following the line of thinking that the index.html needed to be uploaded as well, I did that.  Simple as it sounds it took a bit of courage on my part.
This got my blog summary page photos back in line with their individual entries.
Bigger still was seeing that the index.html file I uploaded made a /Site/ reference to the "Site" folder that's local on my desktop but not present in my server's folder.  And seeing this in the browser address bar, I altered the text of the index.html by eliminating the /Site.  Cyberduck offered ways to do this.  I pushed save.
Cedric at http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Folder_FTP.html has a helpful step by step on using FTP and Cyberduck.  I followed his instruction as I went.
As tiny as this is to those of you who know the workings of your sites, it, for me, is like looking under the hood of a car and being ABLE to fix it. Not something I normally do.  Maybe it'll break down in a mile.  But for now it's fixed, and humming along.
I'm looking now toward getting an optimization app.  If I'm correct, and I follow your publishing workflow path, Roddy, http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Search-Engine-Optimization/Website-Publishing-Wo rkflow.html, I will, after optimizing, then upload again to my server - using the post-optimized folder as the final source of feeding the server.  Then you list other steps - uploading new sitemaps to all the major search engines - I purchase Rage's Sitemap Automater - will use that for that.
There is a methodical flow to all this, and I will learn it and implement it.  Leaving MobileMe and moving to FTP and FTP practices was a leap.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Blojsom server doesn't recognize .mp3 files posted from an XP machine.

Strange things happening recently: When I log into the 10.4 server (using it for podcasts only, not blogs) it no longer recognizes .mp3 files when I post from my XP SP2 machine using either IE7 or Firefox. (It used to work just fine about a month ago.)
Using the same exact mp3 file(s) I am able to post them from a Mac or Vista machine.
Any ideas? This is just strange...

Hi blindfred, to stop Firefox from playing MPEG-encoded media in a page or in a stand-alone tab on Windows Vista/7/8, you need to change the following preferences:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste <strong>about:config</strong> in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste <strong>media.</strong> and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click <strong>media.windows-media-foundation.enabled</strong> to switch its value from true to false. (This is the standard method for Windows Vista/7/8)
    (4) Double-click <strong>media.directshow.enabled</strong> to switch its value from true to false. (This is an additional method available on Windows XP/Vista/7/8)

  • Blog page shows blank in iweb, but can see entries

blog page shows blank in iweb, but can see entries. I have search fro many help hints and currently I have deleted the Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist and restarted (done this a few times) and fixed permissions.
If there is no fix for this, then can someone tell me if I can create a new blog then add the old entries to a new blog ??

Alrighty... i might have found a way to make your blog page shown again.. it's a lot of work tho! Especially if u have had a lot in your entries...
I only have 20 or so entries... What i did was, changing the blog page theme to another theme that has similarities in the blog layout page.. and then switching it back to the theme that you have...
ex. My original theme is the Modern Frame.. I switch it to Water Color theme (check if your blog page is there..) then switch it back to your original theme.
It's not done yet! You have to edit your entries again, in order to get your web original look! i edited it per post! make sure you keep saving it after you edited a little bit of stuff, just to make sure you won't lose it AGAIN...
Once I'm done, i even save another copy of a domain file on my desktop.. you know, just in case..
Mac should fix this iweb problems.. Thank god i only have a few posts by now.. What about people who has hundreds of post...
iWeb should come in handy.. Not giving us more problems..

  • How to post more than one photo on blog page

Can you post more than the top placeholder photo on a blog page? I'd like to post photos as they relate to the blog I'm writing but can only use the placeholder photo at the top of the entry page--is it possible to place more photos on the page or do you have to use a web layout and not a blog layout?
    Thanks.

It is possible because I Do it on my blog. All you have to do is click he media button and get the photo you want, I then drag it to the desktop, and then drag it into my blog. For some reason iweb can get a little wonkey and makes it look like it can't be done, but it can. Good luck!

  • Trouble with mp3 files on iWeb '08

Hi, I'm new to iWeb, I'm trying to add several mp3 files (each no longer than 2 minutes) on several different pages using the drag and drop method from the media browser. I have no problem adding one or two to a page, but if I try to add more, I run into a problem. When I view the published page and try to press play on the iWeb quicktime player for the last mp3 added to the bottom of the page, nothing happens (the other mp3s on the page work fine). When I delete the file from the page and try to add it again, the published site now shows a little question mark with a circle around it. If I try and move it to a different part of the page and then view the published site, the question mark will still appear in the same place as it was before I moved the player. I've checked the mp3 files and they work just fine if they're on their own page. Am I having this problem because there's a limit to the amount you can add per page, or is it something else?
    Thanks for the help...
    -Damon
