Posting to an iWeb blog from an iPhone

I'm about to do a big charity walk (Wainwright's Coast to Coast). I'd like to post to a blog on my iWeb website. Can someone tell me if I can do this easily and how please? Many thanks Ian Smith

I think you need to ask in the iWeb forum, or find some people who really use iWeb blogs. My sense is that the iWeb platform is pretty limited, but I don't really know.
I'm pretty sure there is no iWeb app for the iPhone. Ask Apple for one here:
http://apple.com/feedback
So one question is--does iWeb let you use the XML-RPC protocol that seems to be the standard for blogging clients? Or some other standard? If so, presumably an iPhone blog client like this could be set up:
http://appshopper.com/social-networking/iblogger
but you need some people who know iWeb to help you figure out what the settings would be.
Or maybe iWeb has a Post-by-Email capability? Again, ask iWeb experts.
If iWeb doesn't support any of those, you could certainly set up a WordPress.com blog or something--they have both post-by-email and a blogging app. Or Blogger/Blogspot or any major blogging platform. Maybe iWeb has the ability to show an RSS feed on your iWeb blog, so that it would show links to the WP.com posts that you make.
A charity walk sounds made for Twitter, though, if you ask me.

  • IWeb blogging from mobile devices

I know this has been discussed before, but I think that the arrival of the iPad means that it's time to push it to the front again:
I have a personal homepage that has been created with iWeb on a Mac and is stored on my MobileMe account. This homepage contains a blog, which I usually use when I travel (instead of sending postcards). I used to take my MBP with me when traveling, but will probably switch to the iPad now. Unfortunately, this means that I have to switch the blog for a Wordpress based one, since there still is no way I can blog in iWeb/MobileMe from any other place than my MBP.
Apple: For a "Mobile" company that is a bit embarrassing. Since there already are apps that directly access content on MobileMe, I cannot imagine what the difficulty can be in creating a simple app people could use to blog from the iPhone or iPad. So, please, provide us with such an app and spare us the bag of pain that including a Wordpress blog in iWeb is.
Maybe, if a few people support this request, Apple could spare somebody who could probably program such an app within a few days.

    Welcome to the discussions.

Apple doesn't monitor these forums for feedback — for that, go here:

You can link to an external blog from iWeb's navigation bar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • How can I update my iWeb blog from multiple computers/iPhone/iPad?

I want to be able to update my iWeb website and blog when I am not at home.
I tried making a copy of the iWeb folder from the Library folder. This did not work.
How I wished it would work......
iWeb should work like Aperture, and iPhoto. I mean when I am at a friends computer I can open Aperture with my files and not theirs by choosing the Library file initializing the software. Why can't iWeb be configured to do this?
Is there a way to update iWeb created websites when away from my home computer?

...is a free, cross-platform, remote desktop system that you can use to access your Mac from almost any system. You could log in to LogMeIn, open iWeb and edit & publish your site remotely via your home system. Note that LogMeIn is downloaded only to the Mac you want to remotely control — your office computer needs nothing new. See HERE.
...for iPhone and iPod touch provides instant one-click access to your LogMeIn computers, directly from your Apple device. Make your iPhone or iPod touch an extension of your work or home computer:
    • Use a program that's on your office computer
    • View a photo on your home desktop
    • Help a friend troubleshoot his or her computer
    • All from the palm of your hand, from wherever you are.

  • Publish iWeb blog from Windows

Hello everyone. I just created a blog in iWeb and publish it on an FTP server, but the blog will be managed by a friend and I, and my friend uses Windows. I want to know if there is any way for my friend to post on the blog from Windows.
    Thank you.

Frankly, there must a way around this. Granted, there's no chance your friend on the PC can run iWeb, but all iWeb does (assuming you're using a local folder and not MobileMe) is edit the html and xml files. In theory, if your friend can edit these files from afar and update your files with newer versions, there stands no reason that this shouldn't work.
Come to think of it, you could use DropBox. Saving your site to a local folder in your DropBox folder (my website, for example, uses this trick), you can give your friend the authorization to access the folder, which only requires an internet connection to access. From there, he or she may be able to edit the code (adding a new post, for example) and saving the changed documents in the DropBox folder. You can use whatever FTP program you like to upload your website from said local folder.
Does any of that make sense? I'm facing similar problems, trying to give non-Mac authors access to post on my iWeb-constructed website.

  • Update iWeb blog from Internet

Is there any way I can update my iWeb blog when I'm not with my macbook?

I came across this solution: http://automator.us/iphone
It is geared towards using the iPhone, but it would likely work from any email app.

  • Blogging from the iPhone

We (The Big Island Podcast) will be blogging photos, commentary and race results for the Lavaman and Ironman 70.3 triathlons here in Hawaii using an iPhone. Connectivity has been a problem at our race sites here in Hawaii. No wireless connection at either the Waikoloa site or Mauna Lani (unless we pay $$$ to set it up temporarily) so we'll be broadcasting directly from the iPhone using our AT&T connection. The 2 blogging sites are:
    http://www.lavamanhawaii.blogspot.com
    http://www.ironmanrace.blogspot.com
To the best of our knowledge this has never been done before. Lavaman is April 1st and Ironman 70.3 is May 31st.
Mahalo for checking out the sites if you can.
    Joe

    Joe,
Good luck. [Here|http://iphonesmarts.blogspot.com/2008/01/blogging-by-email.html] are a few tips for using blogger by email from the iPhone.

  • Suddenly unable to post comments on iWeb blog - image verification error

People suddenly can't post comments to my blog page (web.me.com/stannerory). I've tried this myself, and posting continuously fails at the image verification process, one receives an error message that says the letters entered don't match the image, yet they do. Someone suggested that cutting the comment, closing, reopening, and pasting, and doing the process a second time would work, but I haven't found this to be successful either. Is there some kind of a workaround? Anyone else having this issue?

    OT -
    Thanks for your efforts.
It seems to be intermittent now, which is an improvement. I still can't add or remove a comment without fail. It's some consolation that it might be a server issue, but if it were, wouldn't there be all kinds of unhappy Apple users complaining about the issue, AND wouldn't the mobileMe website have some kind of problem indicator light flashing? Of course it would.

  • Posting Comments to iWeb Blogs is Not Easy :-(

We have created a Family Blog and now all are trying to post comments to a nephew/cousin in the Army in Afghanistan.
Most all have called and emailed to say they are having HUGE issues trying to post a comment to their nephew/cousin in the Army in Afghanistan.
They ALL have had trouble and have had to try numerous times.
They particularly have issues trying to put in the "verification code". So far this silly code has prevented all of our messages from being seen by their cousin/nephew.
Passwords and codes do nothing but screw up the owners and users and so far iWeb proves this true.
This "Gong Show" should NOT be happening! Come on iWeb, please fix this and make this easier for our family to send comments to their relative in Afghanistan.

Fred ~ An alternative to iWeb's blog is to hyperlink from your iWeb site to a free Posterous blog, perhaps via their Posterous Blog Widget — see here.
Posterous has "dead simple group blogging by email" where each of your three possible blogs can now have multiple contributers — see here.
Posterous group blogs are email lists too, in that you can get instant email notifications for new posts — see here.
General info about Posterous blogs is in their FAQ. ...Group members can contribute text, photos, sound and video files, etc. to a Posterous blog simply by email. Plus there is the usual commenting capability plus comment alerts for the account holder.

  • Post to iWeb from my iPhone

How can I post entries to my iWeb blog from my iPhone?

If you're not averse to switching blogging platforms, Posterous' free, web-based system allows blogging via email:
    http://posterous.com/faq
And they've recently introduced a free iPhone app for easily adding multiple photos throughout the day to a single post — see this article:
_PicPosterous for the iPhone is nearly perfect_
There's also a way to link directly from iWeb's navigation bar to an external blog such as Posterous.

  • Can't post to Blog from iOS

I set up a blog using iWeb on my iMac with the intention of posting pics and text while abroad on vacation. Since I plan to travel without my laptop, taking only my iPhone and iPad, I hoped to be able to post comments and attachments to the blog remotely. In testing it out it worked fine when posting comments and pics using Safari on my laptop. But when I tried to do the same thing using Safari on my iPhone and iPad, everything worked except the attach photos function. The button to do that is grayed out. So I can post text comments to my iWeb blog from abroad, but not any photos I take. Any idea why that is? Plan B is to set up a photo gallery on my MobileMe account and post photos from my iPhone to it. Hopefully there is some way to put long captions under the photos to act as my blog text.

Just purchased imovie. Created 1:05 minute trailer and get the "Failed to upload to Youtube" message all 5 times I've tried, why? I have over 70 videos on my youtube channel so I know how to operate it.
    Repair or Refund?
    Thanks for help anyone.

  • HT5500 how can i get "via iOS" in my postings and comments from my iPhone?

how can i get "via iOS" in my postings and comments on facebook from my iPhone?

I have the same issue.  NO "via ios" ONLY "via mobile"
    iPhone 4 - IOS 6.0.1
    iPad 3rd Generation IOS 6.0.1
FB App installed both devices from Settings//Facebook/Install App using IOS FB Integration with my username/password.
Troubleshooting Done to this point -
Uninstalled FB on iPhone and reinstalled again using the FB in Settings/Facebook/Install App. Entered my username/password in Settings/Facebook.
Turned Wi-Fi off and posted using Cellular connection  (says via mobile).
Turned Cellular off and posted connected to Wi-Fi  (says via mobile)
Set iPad 3 back to factory default.
Reinstalled everything fresh (did not use iCloud backup).
Installed FB app from Settings/Facebook/Install App. and entered username/password in Settings/Facebook.
Turned Wi-Fi off and posted using 4G cellular connection.  (says via mobile)
Turned 4G Cellular off and posted via Wi-Fi  (says via mobile)
ALL of my posts from both devices show as being "via mobile". This is extremely frustrating since everyone else in the world seems to post status/comments/pictures/etc from their iPhones and iPads and get the "via IOS" except me.
At first I thought maybe it was an iPhone 4 issue, but the iPad 3 is the newest version of iPad and even it says "posted via mobile" instead of "ios".

  • Import previous iweb site from the internet? No old iweb files

My mac crashed and I lost all the information I had stored in it, including the iweb files of the blog I created using Iweb. Is there a way to import my iweb blog into a new Iweb in the mac I purchased? The iweb site I created is still up, so I am wondering if I can import the entries from my old iweb blog into my new mac/iweb using RSS or some other mechanism to capture the text and pictures in my old iweb blog and transfer them to my new mac. I also use idisk, so when I log in to mobile me I see links to my old iweb blog under if I click on Idisk and then go to "site". Any ideas about how I can import my old iweb blog from the internet?
The iweb version I have in my new mac is Iweb 3.0.3 (501)

Jorge ~ Welcome to the Support Communities. Apple says:
"iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.” (Source)
...If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • Update iWeb Blog page from iPhone

I'm brand new to the whole blog thing so please be patient here. I put a test blog page on my iWeb site and was wondering if there is a way to add to that blog on the go from my iPhone? I'd like to take pics of the days events and upload them to the blog along with some text. Is this possible?

The iPhone can't make new blog posts on iWeb-generated blogs, because it doesn't run iWeb. However, if you set the blog to accept comments, you can post a comment from your on blog from your phone; that's how I do updates when I'm in the field.
iWeb has an option where you can allow attachments to be included in comments. I never tried this with my iPhone, so I don't know if that would work or not (I'm not sure how you would locate the attachment on the phone). Of course, if you select this option, ANYONE can post attachments to your blog comments, which isn't necessarily a good thing unless your site is password-protected.
Of course, this only applied before Apple screwed everything up with the MobileMe transition; currently, no blog comments are working at all, and Apple has given no estimate of when it will be fixed.

No, you can't do anything to an iWeb blog without using iWeb. Use something else for your blog.

  • Posting to a blog from Word 2007 or Word 2010 with pictures

Ok, this works fine SharePoint2010 with both Word 2007 and Word 2010.
When I try to publish a post that has pictures in it to a SharePoint2013 blog from Word 2007/2010 I get an error stating 'word cannot publish the pictures in this post'. This happens weather I use 'Launch blogging app' from the SharePoint2013 'Blog tools'
menu or launch Word2007/2010 independently and publish from there. I presume I have setup the 'Manage accounts' section to publish to the blogs correctly as the 'Picture' options do say 'SharePoint blog'.
Using SharePoint2013 'Create a post" option works just fine with images also.
This is quite maddening as I am trying to set up test cases so my agency can decide on SharePoint2010/2013. The users appreciate the ability to use the tools they are familiar with to create the blog entries (Word2007/2010) in SharePoint2010 and it is not
a confidence booster when I cant get SharePoint2013 to work.
I have installed both SharePoint2010 and 2013 on independent virtual machines to testbed. I used practically all the default settings.
Any ideas or options for me?
I would be willing to deal with some type of paid support incident if that is how this must be resolved.
