Posting to FAQ

Hi,
I don't think it is necessarily a good idea for "community members" to be able to post discussions to FAQ pages on the forums:
In the LiveCycle Designer FAQ page, the top three posts are general questions, best placed on the main forum page.
Questions posted on the FAQ page may not be seen or get answered. In addition, the answers may not be correct or as complete as one would expect in an FAQ.
I think the FAQ page should be left to someone with higher "status".

I do not even pretend to know all the possibilities, when one either creates a FAQ Sub-forum, or administers it, but would think that there IS a way, to actually restrict postings, such as Open ONLY to MOD's, Administrators, etc.. Maybe someone with knowledge can instruct us both.
To date, the message to "Please Do Not Post to this Forum," seems to be the norm, but many posters do not read that, or heed that. Same for a few of the Root Forums, where someone finds a way to post there. Happens every few months, from my observations. Still, some sort of Lock should be possible, but maybe not worth it?

Rosetta does not run the following:
Applications built for Mac OS 8 or 9
Code written specifically for AltiVec
Code that inserts preferences in the System Preferences pane
Applications that require a G4 or G5 processor
Applications that depend on one or more kernel extensions
Kernel extensions
Bundled Java applications or Java applications with JNI libraries that can’t be translated
Classic is just not supported.
It is clear that apps that need the G4, G5 or Altivec Code won't run under Rosetta.

Admins: What changed with this FAQ I posted?

When I initially composed and posted the FAQ for the Photoshop/Mac section at the following link...

I coded it to display the full-size (492pxW) image because the Jive image-shrinking routine was doing some bizarre distortion to the reduced version...where parts of the image looked smeared, as though a wet sponge had been dragged across a watercolor marker drawing. NOT the whole image, only parts of it! Never saw anything like it before.
But now, I see that the image doesn't appear at all, and the link to the image doesn't work, either. I'd be happy to edit it so it works, but I 'm curious about why it worked properly for a day or two, and now it doesn't?

I'm quoting your post in its entirety in the expectation that your image will sooner or later be replaced by a dead link.
Here's what experience has shown me during the last two weeks in these confounded forums:
If I use the camera icon and then use the "From your Computer" tab, my embedded images stay.
If, on the other hand, I use either the "Uploaded images" or "From the Web" tab, then my embedded images get replaced with a dead link, sometimes within a minute or two, sometimes after a few hours. Same thing happens with images in quoted posts.

Payroll (Payment Methods) Show oldest posts first (Default) Show newest

Hi everybody
I am implementing HRMS R12. In the Payroll Setup, when I setup the payment methods it gives me an error telling that: no keyflex field have been constructed to the Bank Details and ask to consult the DBA.
When I open the Payment Methods fuction, it gives me caution of APP-PAY-52982 and it gives the error of APP-PAY-06937 when I try to enter any payment methods.
My legislation is UAE, and it is alreay installed. I can see the AE_BANK keyflex field and its segments.
It might be clear to you if you know my installation, I have a fresh copy (PROD) of database and I started by installing the HRMS. I am fraid that I have missed a crucial step that must be done before setting up HRMS.
So please help

I think Bank Details flexfield is generally compiled when you run hrglobal for the legislation. Check if hrglobal is run or not. Also check if the Bank details flexfield is compiled or not.

Suggestion for additions and corrections to FAQ's

The FAQ forum will constantly evolve as issues are added and updated. Since the topics are read only other than to forum workers, we wanted to give users a special topic where they can add their suggestions for additions and corrections.
Please keep in mind that all forum workers are volunteers, they do this because they enjoy helping other users.

Like I said, Im relatively new to PhotoShop and PS forum. I have researched the PS manual, PS help topics and this forum. I am not an individual that would ask a question of hard-working volunteers about a subject that I have not already researched. And yes, I know and understand what FAQs are and how they are generally presented on the web.
Huh? The FAQ section is for administrators to add things to, not users. If you have a question, you ask in the main forum. If many people ask the same question, then the administrators add an entry to the FAQ.
Okay if this is true, how was I able to post a message? I wasnt aware that I couldnt post a FAQ suggestion to the FAQ suggestion Forum? Hmm, maybe I missed the
small print on that one.
Look ... I do NOT want to create any hostility with you. You have given me some answers and I appreciate your comments. I will go back and "wade through" all of the forums to look for basic or frequent problems that may answer some frequent questions.

That is the site... Norton Internet Security pops up a warning... I did not go any further into the details, so the site's location may be what triggers Norton
Anyway... I wandered there because someone over in the Premiere Pro "old" forum could not edit AVCHD with PPro 1.5 so I posted your FAQ link... the top 2 links both worked, so... in the absence of a response by the person I was trying to help... I will presume they found a product to do the conversion
I know there have been a few other instances of ISP's being blocked because of problems with "some" accounts... I will just chalk this up to a case of a good site being caught up on a bad host

It may be that Norton is wrong, or that the vendor is infected and does not know... either way, as I said, the top links in your FAQ both go to sites with no Norton warning

Hello experts,
How to search in the list of FAQs posted using FAQ iview?
In DMS we have one option(search from here) to search from the folder selected folder. Is there any way to search the FAQs as it is in XML form?

Hi,
you can develop a FAQ document using html, word document etc... Later you can upload that in KM content.
Using KM document iview you can display that to end users as FAQ iview.
Other option is using xml form builder, you can develop a xml template which will suit your requirement.
Try to search in SDN about KM Document iview which is a simple way of achieving this.

Can I install windows 7 on a potable Hard Drive using boot camp? or any other way to do so?? need help for college please

I need to use windows in order to use Visual C++ for college but I don't have enough space in my internal Hard Drive so I want to install windows 7using boot camp or any other method on a portable hard drive and boot from it.

You can't boot Windows natively except on internal drives.
You can use a VM and put the VM image (VHD) anywhere any drive you want.
You are way too low on disk space, seriously so. And no room - even Windows and Mac OS should be warning and balking already.
"emulator" is an old-school term, even true, running a Guest OS under Mac's as a virtual machine, shared resources (RAM, processor) is easier but not the same performance level as running natively.

790FX-GD70 + unlocked 720BE + Nvidia Drivers = Failed boot?

Good evening folks! Been quite a while since I last played in these forums (the rig in my sig is 3+ years old, and long gone.... ), but it's great to see that the tradition of a helpful community seems to have continued on in my absence.
I've didn't have any luck with a search for previous posts on the issue I'm having, but if it's a common issue and I missed a post or faq I'd be happy for a link.
So now to the meat......
I recently returned from the darkside and purchased my first AMD system since AMD dropped S939. I decided on the 790FX-GD70 paired with a 720be and some OCZ ram. Everything on the board seems to be working fine, but I ran into a snag when I loaded the 1.52 beta bios in order to unlock the 4'th core.
The core unlocks fine, and XP completes the initial load (scroll bar), but hangs on a black screen just before getting to the logon page. I immediately suspected a problem loading the vid drivers, and removed the nvidia drivers. The stock XP vid drivers allowed me to boot into windows normally which verified my original suspicions (CPU-Z confirms 4 cores). Re-installing the latest drivers causes windows to hang at the same place, and this doesn't happen without ACC unlocking the 4'th core.
Any ideas?

edit: It might be a week or so by the time I get around to playing with this (I have other committments with the board that can be satisfied by OCing just the 3 cores for now), but I will report back if I have any luck with the 153 bios, or if an older set of drivers makes the difference.

OS X Tiger upgrade

Hi, I have OS 10.2.8 on my old G4. I'm trying to upgrade to Tiger but when I put my new disc in I select the language and after that it tells me that I can't install on this computer. Is that because I don't have Panther on this computer? Do you have to go in order or can you skip an operating system release? I'm using the disc that came with my new powerbook. Does that matter? Do you have to purchase an upgrade for an older computer even if you have a new computer that came with the discs? Lot of questions I know but any answers would be appreciated.

The question of using system/software install CDs/DVDs on more than one machine is frequently asked so ali brown posted this FAQ answer: Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs: System software installation CDs/DVDs, that come with a particular Mac model, are hardware specific to that model, and not intended to be used on other Mac models. For instance, the CDs/DVDs that are shipped with an iMac are not to be used on an iBook or eMac.
And the "Tiger" DVDs that are shipped with any new Mac, also are not to be used on other Mac models.
If such an installation were possible, or somehow accomplished successfully, that action would constitute a violation of your license agreement, which limits installation to a single computer....;~)

Problem with CS5.5 install certificate revoked

Items in Tree control move around when data is submitted using custom ItemRenderer

I'm working on a Tree control with an XMLListCollection as
its dataProvider.
The dataProvider has information looking like this :

I attached the rest of the files because they're a little
bit longer.
When I run the program, the data shows up fine when it is
initialized the
very
first time, and I made a test button that just dumps the
contents of the
dataProvider in a trace statement to verify that the data has
been set
properly.
The problem I've run into is whenever the textfield is
edited, the item
that
I've selected jumps around the list.
For example, if I edit the item "STR_USER_NAME" after I
finish the edit, it
will move from the very first position in the Tree to the
bottom of the
Tree.
I traced the contents of the dataProvider and the
dataProvider structure
stays
the same, with the "STR_USER_NAME" at the top, but if I look
at the flex app
in
the web browser, its position is at the bottom of the Tree.
This happens for every other item I try to edit... I read in
the
documentation
that the ItemRenderers are recycled, so it means I should be
checking to
make
sure the initial states are covered, but I'm not sure how
this affects my
application.
Can anyone help me out with this ? Its very confusing - I've
tried making
an
ItemRenderer using pure actionscript, mxml and the
combination you see in
this
example and I always end up with the same behaviour - So I
must be missing
something critical...

A: List-based components don't draw a renderer for every item
in the
dataProvider. Instead, they create enough to display what is
on screen now,
plus one or two more waiting in the wings. This means they
recycle the
renderers rather than creating new ones when you change
dataProvider or
scroll up and down. When you use a creationComplete event to
set up the
itemRenderer, that event doesn't happen again when the
renderer is used for
a different set of data. The solution to this is to override
the set data
protected function that most components have.

Your set data needs to set a flag that gets picked up in
commitProperties()
and does your thing that you were doing before in
creationComplete. You
should see examples of this in the links I posted. Instead of
this:
_data.@value = inputText.text;
you should look at implementing IDropInListItemRenderer,
which will allow
you to dynamically determine which field to look at, instead
of hardcoding
it. You also might wind up overwriting the stored value with
a null value
when the List passes the stored value in. I'd encourage you
to really go
through those links I posted and make sure you understand
what they're
saying. The itemRenderer life cycle is one of the hardest
things to
understand, but once you understand it, it makes many things
in Flex much
easier. It's worth investing the time.
