Posting video filmed in landscape mode to Facebook

If I film a video in landscape mode on my iPhone 5, and try to post it to Facebook, the video posts in portrait mode, so that the entire video is sideways.  Is there something different that I should be doing with the video on my phone to have it post correctly?

  • IPhone update 7.0.4 still won't allow video playlists in landscape mode

Dear Apple, since you removed this function when released iOS 7 we, consumers of your products have been waiting to have this resolved with every update since.
This is the third update since iOS 7 and still nothing.
    Who makes these decisions?
Who is fully ignoring what we ask?
We are not forced to own an iPhone with all these huge screen smart phones out there able to play videos taking full advantage of their big screen.
    But not the iPhone...
You have two options to allow us to watch music videos in landscape mode:
-one is bringing back the landscape mode view for music videos under the music tab
-the other is allowing playlists to play continuously including a random option under the video tab.
    Simple.
Disappointed so far and rethinking my 10 year loyalty since I got my first black and white iPod.

  • Can't post video taken on iphone 4s to facebook

I recently took a 3 minute video on my iphone 4s, and attempted to post on face book, and was unable to post to face book. Any ideas from anyone? Thanks

The FaceBook app supports uploading photos, not video.
Try an app called iLoader which supports uploading more than one photo at a time to FaceBook and uploading video.

  • Video recorded in landscape only plays in portrait mode on HD tv

I recently obtained iphone 5s. I've recorded several videos with the phone, in landscape mode. When I try to play the videos connected to my tv via HDMI A/V cable the videos will only play back in portrait mode (quality is distorted and horrible).
Same goes for the videos recorded in landscape mode on my old 4s (which prior to IOS 7 would play back in proper mode).
Phone is not locked in portrait mode.
Video will play on phone in landscape mode...just won't play in landscape on the TV.
Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any assistance!
    D.

I had the same exact problem.  Some of my landscape videos would get squashed into a portrait size view on the TV.
What I did as a workaround was to hold the phone in portrait mode, play the landscape video, and if it didn't fill the screen correctly, I would swipe the video as if I was going to another video/photo, but without lifting my thumb/finger, swipe it back so that it returns to the original position.
What happens is that the video on the TV screen should resize into a smaller landscape image (with the circle play button in the middle of the image).  Then usually when I hit the play button again, it will play properly in landscape mode and, more or less, fill the screen properly.
I find it odd that so few others have faced this issue.

  • Can anyone tell me how to post videos taken on the iPhone that are now stored on the Air on Facebook?

Can anyone tell me how to post videos taken on the iPhone that are now stored on the Air on Facebook?

    Hi
Yeah got onto that but it won't load up anything readable. It just produces a little annimation of 35mm film strip and when you click on it - nothing. All you end up doing is clicking on the X in the top right hand corner of the annimation and deleting it. Really frustrating because uploading from the iPhone is simple, but I've deleted it off that and can't get it back from the Mac to the iPone either. Seem to be trapped no matter what i do.
    Thanks for your help though

  • Why will iphone not play video in landscape mode anymore

I am a HUGE purchaser and user of iTunes Music Videos and on my iPhone, I was happily playing them in playlists and watching them in landscape orientation as a video playlist.
I was quite upset when I bought my first iPad and found that it simply would not support this basic (for me) functionality.   But I searched and found a music video playlist app and purchased what SHOULD HAVE BEEN included functionality on the iPad.   Seriously, if the iPhone could do this basic operation why shouldn't the iPad, which is much better suited for video playlists with the bigger screen?
Now, after updating to iOS7, you've broken the functionality even moreso.   Imagine my joy, surprise and sheer level of cursing and swearing when I turned my videos into landscape mode and found some dickbag has decided I should see album covers instead of my video in full screen on the phone.
So, Apple, the "We sell devices so that we can also sell the media" company,   why are you screwing with something that should be basic and intuitive on the phone and ipad?
I, and I expect everyone else, expect to open the music app, go to the music videos playlist automatically generated in that app (BY your programmers) and then be able to play the videos from the video playlists you allow me to create - my own playlists in both portrait and landscape modes.
So please fix this ever-increasing pain in the ***.    I will not be purchasing any more videos (And yes, check my history, I am quite likely in the top 5% of purchasers of music videos) because you are slowly removing the intuitive methods for playing them.
    David Patrie

A revolutionary A7 processor with 64-bit architecture, and none of those bits are smart enough to figure out "hey, maybe if my owner is listening to a video in the Music app and switches to landscape mode they're more interested in seeing the video larger, not unrelated album art thumbnails. Let me temporarily borrow the landscape view logic from the Video app."?
I hope they fix this at least by iOS 8. It's not logical (let alone user friendly) to exit out of the Music app and go into a separate Video app just to see a music video in landscape. The ironic thing is the Video app forces videos to be landscape – as if the logic it follows is that anyone watching a video really wants to see it in landscape – but yet that logic gets kicked off the boat when the video digits cross the river over to Music app land.

  • Music videos in landscape mode ever coming back???

Dear Apple, I doubt you'll read this or do anything but I guess it's worth a try.  It used to be that when you played a music video via the musof app on your iphone, it would display the video in landscape mode. Now, extermely inituitively, turning your phone to the side shows a selection of your album covers. No one wants that. I seriously can not think of one person. Looking in your own forums you have questions in 2013 asking to bring this back but no response has been given. That's called arrogance. This is not some big technical ask. It would take you little to no time so what gives? You say you care about the customer experience but between this and the iTunes library syncing issues I am beginning to question that.

You're correct as there is no Apple here in this user to user technical forum.

  • When I take a photo or video in landscape mode, it will not play back or show in landscape with the phone held horizontally.

When I take a photo or video in landscape mode, it will not play back or show in landscape with the phone held horizontally. i have an iPhone 5. I think this happened sometime after the last upgrade but I am not sure when. is there a setting on the phone that may have gotten changed somehow?

Slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Controls panel. One button controls orientation lock to prevent the screen rotating as you rotate the phone. You can toggle that control on and off as you need. Slide the panel back down when you are finished with it.

  • I cannot find information to help me change the orientation of a video filmed in portrait format but only able to be played back lying on its side  (landscape) instead of upright. All the rotation buttons for iPhoto are not 'engaged' when it is in video .

    Thanks OT,
I tried the Export function but it would not allow me to choose the option of exporting to iMovie. I think you are right about needing Quicktime Pro. I opened iMovie and imported the clip from iPhoto and with some searching found the 'cropping, rotation' mechanism. So I now have a copy in the correct orientation. I plan to import/export it back to iPhoto because I want to have a copy on my iPhone to show people and I wanted to have it available as part of a slideshow I am making in iPhoto of my recent overseas trip. It is a pain that there is no simple orientating tool for the movie clips downloaded to iPhoto with the photos from the one camera.

  • Why can't I view videos in landscape mode on my new Ipod Touch 5?

Why can't I view music videos in landscape mode on my new Ipod Touch 5?  I was able to with my first generation Ipod Touch.
I hate viewing a small version of the video.  If there aren't any fixes to the issue, there is no point in purchasing music videos.  Clicking the screenlock icon doesn't work.  It just allows you to view the small video in any mode instead of seeing album covers.

Because that is how iOS 7 does it. To make a suggestion to Apple:
