Posts going missing - How to update an image once it has been displayed
Something is very wrong with my posts here. I made this post earlier today, and added it to my watch list. The last time I checked it, there were no replies. Now the title in my watch list has been changed to null and the post is not showing up in the forum. Grrrr.
Anyway, onto the main event.
I've got some code that, among other things, displays an image in a Frame. I'm doing this by subclassing JLabel and overriding the paintComponent method.
My question though, is how can I load a different image in place of that one ? I'm trying to run a slideshow, and whenever I load another image, I can see the new object is being created (I have a println in there), but the image in the frame is not updated with the new one.
Here is my overridden paintComponent method:

Can anyone advise how I would get the picture in the frame to update ?
If you are looking up onto staged data, just snapshot the data once a day.
Or you could just do an External Lookup, where there is no need to refresh the data as you can just look it up dynamically.
You will not get any 'fuzziness' with this approach.

Or you could just do an External Lookup, where there is no need to refresh the data as you can just look it up dynamically.

How to disable a button once it has been clicked

I need to disable a button once the user has clicked it! I also need the colour of the button to change once it has been clicked as well (I need it to just grey out - not sure if this can be solved using actionscript??)
The only method I could think of of accomplishing this is to put each button in their own UILoader, but I'm hoping there is a simpler method!?Here's what you do:
1. Open the Components panel and drag a button on the Stage (do NOT create button symbol).
2. For now, give it an instance name of "aButton" - that's what the code below uses. However, you probably want to use a different name. Also, you can open up the Components Inspector panel (CS4) to change the label on the button - use the Component Parameters section on the Properties panel if you have CS5.
3. In the Actions panel use this code:
aButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, disableButtonHandler);
function disableButtonHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
//do whatever (gotoAndStop, fscommand...)
aButton.enabled = false;
4. Test it. If it was done correctly (I tested it on my computer), the button should deactivate and go greyish when clicked.
Make sure you use a Button Component. I don't know it this code would work with a Button or a MovieClip symbol. -

So, i assume you want to change one picture. On Stage, i have edgeAnimate (an image), and
1) i am using the div tag.
So: sym.$("edgeAnimate").css("background-image", "url(images/myImage.png)" ); will change my picture.

we have a package updating the serial numbers using IB API (csi_Item_Instance_Pub.update_item_instance) but it is updating only the records which has no serial numbers present for that instance, if there is a serial number already exists it is not working.

Used this. May not be perfect but should get you there. Only if the table is registered (all the seeded tables should be registered) this will work.

the last update on my apple tv has been going on for like a week and i can't stop it even if i unplug it. it shows a pic of the tv connecting to iTunes, what do i do?
If ATV is unplugged and you are still seeing an image that is not coming from ATV.
If the update failed then you will need to connect ATV to a computer with iTunes via a USB cable and restore the software from iTunes. -
I used to be able to attach a document to an iCal entry. After the latest update, it appears this option has been removed. How can I add an attachment now? Thanks!

Yes, iCal 4.0.4 (1395.7). In edit mode, the 'attachments' option is between 'Invitees' and 'URL' (see below). As I said this is for calendars under On My Mac, I suspect you are not seeing this as your event is on MobileMe.

I have not backed up my computer using Time Machine since before I updated to Mavericks. It has been "preparing backup" for a half hour at least and shows no indication of how long this may take. Is something wrong?
No. TM has to look through your entire drive contents and copy them all. This will take some time.
Once the first backup is made, then subsequent backup will be much quicker, depending on how much data has changed since the last one. -

PLEASE HELP! How can I tell if my Imac has been hacked? I see a few people have asked this question but the responses tended to be advice on what to do once you've been hacked, not what can done to find out if you have been hacked. I have a late 2012 model imac. My sharing was off and remote logging was off. I use an external router that send wireless to about 4 consoles in the flat. I don't think I have any firewalls up (now looking like a mistake). I think I'm possibly being hacked due to abnormal behaviour and most recently my camera was turned off all day (no LED) then I went to record something on Photo Booth, the application popped up displaying an image of me getting dressed (nightmare!) which happened hours earlier when the camera was off. This image quickly then disappeared and the camera began working normally. Very strange and alarming. Please help me. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
Paste into the window of another application.
Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I have an iphone 3GS and I've gotten text messages from 2 different people that i don't know, telling me they can't see the pics that I've sent them & wanting to know what the pics are of. One of the numbers had been part of a group message that I recieved from a friend. I just thought she ended up responding back to me by mistake thinking she was sending a message to the originater of the group message.Then a couple weeks later i got another text from a person I have never contacted wanting to know who I was & why I was sending multimedia messages that she couldn't open. Just trying to figure out what is going on. If I postd this on the wrong group, please let me know which one I need to post this on. Thanks.
Well that's good to know. As far as I know the phone has not been jailbroken, unless it was done before I bought it. I purchased it used from an individual who said it was restored to factory defaults.
It just concerns me that people are texting me telling me that I'm sending them pics that they can't open. I've checked my bill online & nothing shows up that shouldn't be there. -

How can I tell if my computer has been infected with this latest Trojan (or with any Trojan)? I did install the latest update to Java when I was told by my iMac that new software was available for my computer, which was just 2 or 3 days ago (first week of April). Now it is being said that there was a Java Trojan.

Post the lines of output, if any, that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
Step 2
Repeat with this line (triple-click anywhere in it to select the whole line):

The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
If you get no output from either step, you're not infected with any variant of Flashback that I know of. -

I've also managed to overcome this problem by selecting "Subscription Authorization" in the Alert Category Definition page, and entering SAP_XI_MONITOR as one of the roles.
After that, I am able to see a the alert category defined. By default it's already subscribed, because I'm using the same user - PISUPER.
I saw in another post that the option "Suppress Multiple Alerts of this Rule" should be left unchecked. I tried that, but I still do not see any alerts raised in ALRTDISP.
What did I miss?

E-mail and calendar updating/synching to my BBZ10 has been lost.
My (new) Z10 used to receive e-mails and calendar updates easily, as expected.
Then suddenly I no longer receive them.
Any idea:
