Posts list on a team site
Hi,
How can I make the "Posts" list available on a team site? This is a list that is normally on a blog site. Is there some sort of feature I need to enable?
thanks,
Sherazad

Some of the users Profile photo is not showing in sharepoint team sites
Some of the users Profile photo is not showing in the list of SharePoint team site.
In the people picker their picture is grayed out but if you click on their name it will direct you to their mysite and the picture is there.
Can some body help on this.Try running:
stsadm -o sync -deleteolddatabases 0
Then, run the timer job named similar to "User Profile Service Application - User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization". Wait for it to complete, then re-check the profile photo on the SharePoint site.

Limiting Body size post list in SharePoint 2013 blog site
Hi,
I want to fix the length of the body content in the post list in blog site in SharePoint 2013.
And also i want to set the limit to show number of blog in the home page.
Please help.
Thank you!Open page in SharePoint Designer.
When the default.aspx page is opened we can see that the web part is actually a XlstListViewWebPart. Taking a look at the XML Definition we can see that there is a field called RowLimit:

Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131904 - Error when creating a team site
Hi,
I am a SharePoint Administrator. I have a SharePoint 2010 site collection that had been migrated successfully from MOSS 2007 2 years ago. This site collection has some custom solutions and is very large (~200GB).
Everything works fine but since last week, I can NOT create any team site as subsite in this site collection. Error message is Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131904
I checked SP log and found some errors from SQL Server side:

Unable to set EnableAttachments property to true on Posts list in Blog web.
Hello!
In my dev environment I've implemented blog site (using the Blog Template) as a sub web of Team Site. Using this approach
I was able to manage and display blog post attachments. But when I'm trying to do the same things on production, the approach doesn't work (error in new/edit form's javascript: object expected). During investigation with SharePoint Manager I found out that
in my dev env EnableAttachments property in the Posts list is set to true (by default), but in the production it is set to false. The trouble is that I'm not able to change the value to true even via object model. I'm using Search Server Express edition.
Thanks in advanceCheck this
http://garnetsgems.blogspot.in/2010/02/displaying-attachments-to-sharepoint.html
Thank you for the post! But unfortunately it seems to be not helpful. The post says how to display the Attachments field in data view. I've already implemented that. My trouble is that there is no Attachments field in the list. If I open Posts list as regular
list view and select an item via checkbox, the Attach File ribbon button is grayed. Looks like the attachments functionality is not available at all in the list. I've checked the EnableAttachments property of the list and it is false. I've tried to change
it via power shell and c# but no luck:
SPList list = web.Lists["Posts"];
list.EnableAttachmens = true;
list.Update();
The above code doesn't work. Changes are ignored. -

How to create a SSRS report with SharePoint 2013 team site's calendar?
Hi I have sp13 and SQL Data Rool (that brings up VS Shell 2010).
I need to build a report where the top part is to have a SP Team site's calendar for up coming week. The 2nd half would be a table with data from that same site. This report would then need to be embedded in a email that automatically sent to several
users on weekly basis.
I have the table data report created form the SP list. How can I get the calendar(display as a calendar that I see in the team site) on to the top part of this report?
Thank you.Please follow this article to write SSRS reports with data source as SharePoint list/calendars etc. All document libraries, list and calendars are derived from base list class so you can use any of this type as a data source
http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2068/using-a-sharepoint-list-as-a-data-source-in-sql-server-reporting-services-2008-r2/
Once your SSRS report is developed, you have multiple ways to show it in SharePoint
- upload to SSRS server and show in sharepoint in a page viewer web part or simply open it as a link in new window
- configure SharePoint environment with integration to SSRS and upload report to SharePoint library. Display report in a web part page using SSRS web part.

I've noticed various ways to bulk-append to a List in SharePoint 2010 - some seemingly better than others - using Excel and Access. Do y'all suppose it's possible to bulk-append to a SharePoint Blog "Posts" list? There appear to be
some read-only columns that might make this difficult.Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you need to import bulk
blogs into SharePoint blog site’s posts library .
For your issue, here is a blog import tool which is available for SharePoint 2010

Hi guys,
Can i please technically know how to export an .aspx file (in Site Pages library of a team site) to local file?
Basically, SharePoint Designer has this feature "Export File"
i Need exactly the same feature that can be done in Powershell
I tried the following
$web = get-spweb "MY URL"
$folder = $web.GetFolder("SitePages")
$files = $folder.files
#trying to download the first file
[System.IO.File]::WriteAllBytes("C:\\LocalPath",$files[0].OpenRead(),$true)
The file exported via this method is Clean HTML without the Web Part Customisation!
I NEED the web part customisation in the exported files.
Sample downloaded via above script
<!-- Cropping -->
<tr>
<td id="_invisibleIfEmpty" name="_invisibleIfEmpty" valign="top" height="100%"> <WebPartPages:WebPartZone runat="server" Title="loc:LeftColumn" ID="LeftColumn" FrameType="TitleBarOnly"/> </td>
<td id="_invisibleIfEmpty" name="_invisibleIfEmpty" valign="top" height="100%"> <WebPartPages:WebPartZone runat="server" Title="loc:MiddleColumn" ID="MiddleColumn" FrameType="TitleBarOnly"/> </td>
<td id="_invisibleIfEmpty" name="_invisibleIfEmpty" valign="top" height="100%"> <WebPartPages:WebPartZone runat="server" Title="loc:RightColumn" ID="RightColumn" FrameType="TitleBarOnly"/> </td>
</tr>
<!-- Cropping -->
I tried using WebRequest, it returns the End HTML, which is not working too.
Please if anyone has done this? Or is there any SharePoint Designer Developer here and is willing to share how to perform the export in SharePoint Designer via Powershell? API available?
Much Appreciated!
ChengHi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to export Team Site Site Pages to .aspx and for subsequent uploaded to other Team Site and Web Part Customisation included using Powershell.
You can export a specific file or object from the Export-SPWeb context.
Export-SPWeb -identity "http://sharepoint" -ItemUrl "/default.aspx" -Path "c:\default.aspx"
Import-SPWeb -identity "http://sharepoint" -Path "C:\default.aspx"

Change site master page not working in team site
For an intranet site I have a heavily customized master page but want to retain the default v4 master for admin pages. I haven't activated publishing for the site but can access changesitemasterpage.aspx and set the site and system master page.
Action:
Set site master to custom, set system master to v4
Expected result:
Exactly what the description says:
"The system master page will be used by administrative pages, lists, and document library views on this site."
Actual result:
ALL pages use the v4 master.
The only way to get the custom master to work is to change the system master setting to "custom". But then the styling interferes with the functionality of the admin pages. Is this another case of SP not doing what it says it's going to do,
or is it broken?Hi ,
For your issue, there are two approaches you can refer to:
1.Activate publishing feature, set custom master page for “Site Master Page”. The site master page will be used by all publishing pages - the pages that visitors to your website will see.
2.Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS, you can find all the application pages in the folder (such as settings.aspx) . Open the aspx page
and find the dynamicMasterPage attribute at the page tag, change the value to default.master instead of custom.master. (not recommend)

Ever since the site update I am having problems.
1) I lost my level 3 status
2) Many posts are missing from My Posts list (the numbers as well as the content). When I page through them it will say posts 81-90 and there will only be 81, 82, 83, 84 for instance.

Hi BlooFan,
The older software was doing exactly the same thing: showing only threads which had not yet aged off.
The confusion now caused by the New Discussions software, is that
--> the displayed number ("Posts: xxx", under your avatar) does not reflect them.
In the "Old Discussions":
At first glance (with the avatar) was displayed the total number of posts and the Level.
Then if you clicked on somebody's name, you were shown something like this:
AxL
User Type: Level 3
Joined: April 14, 2004
Total posts: 2446; 371 currently online
Total points: (this was visible only to oneself)
Points to next level: (this too was hidden to the others)
Last level change: (I think this one too was hidden)
Votes remaining: (xx)
Last vote count update: November 10, 2005 03:17pm
Location: Europe
Computer: iMac G4 (17-inch 1.25 GHz); Mac OS X (10.4.3); Mac OS X (10.3.8); 1 GB RAM
In this example, "371" was the actual and accurate number of posts online, and it ajusted every day.
In the New Discussions, the "Posts: xxx" number pretends to do the same, but it doesn't ajust. What it does is just adding and adding at each new message you write,
thus actually starting a "nonsense" post count, beginning on the New Discussions first day.
So this is the bug.
A small, unimportant bug, that we'd have not noticed if the actual Total Posts count was visible.
But
because the actual Total Posts number is disabled, all we see is this buggy Online Posts count.
"Is it going to be like this from now on?"
I don't know, but I trust our Hosts who are working on it since the beginning, to finally find a solution that fits to the now retrieved responsiveness and stability.

Is it possible to set up device channels in Team site if I activate publishing feature?
Hi All,
Is it possible to create device channels for my team site. I inadvertently created this as team instead of Publishing site. Please advise.
DineshHi Dinesh,
If you want to access SharePoint 2013 out-of-box device channel then it requires SharePoint Publishing Features at site collection, please enable SharePoint
Server publishing site infrastructure in team site
Other Approach:
Device channel work with "User Agent Strings", you can read browser user agent string at run time and apply custom master page/CSS, however you need to do customize master page/CSS for all devices
The User Agent String as I’m sure we all know identifies which browser you are using to connect with it is sent from the Client to the Server within the initial headers and contains certain tokens like Operating System, Browser, etc.

Office 365: Prgramtically sync Calendar with SharePoint team site calendar
Hello everyone,
I need to sync office 365 Calendar with SharePoint team sites Calendars. We have SharePoint online site which having multiple sub sites, each sub site has a calendar control and we need calendar controls need to be sync with the outlook calendar available
on top bar of office 365.
We need to do it programmatically as we have more then 200 hundred sub sites, please guide me on this that how it is possible using developer app or PowerShell commands.I think it might help to clarify what you mean. When you say "Office 365 Calendar", what you really mean is the Calendar associated with whomever is logged in, stored in Exchange. When you see the "Calendar" link in the little bar at the top of the page,
that's actually just a link to the Outlook Web Access calendar for a particular user's calendar stored in the Office 365 Exchange server. It's exactly the same calendar that would show up if a user had Outlook installed on their local computer and opened it
up and looked at the calendar.
That being said, you aren't going to want to synch every calendar in your whole SharePoint site with a single user's calendar. I think there are a couple approaches for you:
Create a calendar overlay in SharePoint, which displays other calendars on the current calendar view. Unfortunately, there's a limit as to how many calendars you can do this for, it's far less than 200.
Allow users to create calendar overalys in Outlook. This is the same idea as what you're doing in SharePoint, except users are doing this within Outlook. Again, adding 200 overlays isn't practical.
You can try creating an additional company calendar in Exchange that's not tied to a particular user, but then you'll have to run a timer job to keep the Outlook calendar in synch with the SharePoint calendar. This is a lot more cumbersome than just displaying
the SharePoint calendar, since you're physically copying events over to the Outlook calendar. If you do that, you personally are responsible for keeping the two calendars synched up, rather than just displaying an Exchange calendar in SharePoint, or displaying
a SharePoint calendar in Outlook.
You might looking into third party tools such as
http://www.boostsolutions.com/calendar-rollup-feature-list.html. (I haven't tried that product, it just looks like it might be the type of thing to check out.
