Postscript error/ HP DesignJet 800PS

Hello:
I have an issue printing PDFs to 2 HP DesignJet 800PS.
Error on Printer Display is 61:05
I tired all of the fixes listed under troubleshooting 61:05 errors.
Error printed on page is:
ERROR: typecheck
OFFENDING COMMAND: anchorsearch
stack:
(Pantone )
/None
true
/None
[/Separation /None /DeviceCMYK {0 0 0 }]
File created on Macintosh - Quark distilled to PDF. File prints fine to either DesignJet 800PS from Macintosh. This error only occurs when printing from Windows 2000 over ethernet to the Design Jet printers. Not all PDF's have this this issue.
Downloaded the latest driver from HP installed as a new printer, same problem. The Firmware is the latest version. This problem happens on all Windows workstations attempting to print these PDFs.
IF you print the PDF to a Image then print it, the image prints fine but I know it's 'printing a bitmap at that point.
I talked to HP tech support and they suggested sending the file via AppleTalk?? From a PC? I assumed they meant changing the encoding from Binary to Ascii2.
One other thing, when files are printed from the Windows machines the sizes are sometimes are off slighty..
Anybody have any ideas?

This is the only forum for the DesignJet 800ps printer there is! Suggesting a different forum is not what I would call "customer support" instead, I would call that a lazy response.
The link I gave above is for Designjet's and will be populated with users with experience that may be able to answer your question.  This forum is focused on consumer level products - Deskjet's, Photosmart printers and similar products tpically selling for $500 or less.
Although you may be a standard consumer the Designjet's are not typical consumer items.  You are free to ask here, but you should be aware that you are likely to get much better results posting in the HP Enterprise Designjet forum here.

  • HP DesignJet 800ps error 86:01 severe error 0x8010001

We have an HP DesignJet 800ps in which we have just changed the belt. After 2 successful (black only) printouts, and 1 unsuccessful colour printout (the blacks were all very grey and no color was printed) the front panel now displays error 86:01. If we hit "menu" we see  "Severe error 0x8010001."
I have lubricated the slide bar. I have cleaned out all the dust from the suction holes. I have run all the tests I can (by holding down "up-arrow" + "enter" on bootup) and they all come out OK.
The one thing I haven't done, mostly because I'm not sure how, is to do step number 5 on the error boot, "Align print heads"

  • Driver for HP DesignJet 800ps and OSX 10.8?

We have just purchased an iMac with OSX 10.8.2 and have since found that HP do not have a driver for the HP DesignJet 800ps(24in) plotter.
Further, the available generic driver within the OS does not support A1 or A2 paper size. This sort of defeats the purpose of a large format plotter . . . .
We have tried to install HPs OS10.7 driver as well as copying the driver from an older machine to the systems library on the 10.8 machine but each with no success.
Does anyone have any similar experiences, solutions or suggestions.
    Thanks

    Thanks for suggesting that, PAHU.
We just upgraded my old G5 to a new Intel and so, of course, I found myself hunting for a solution to the lack of DJ800 support.
My 42" DJ800 not only happily accepted the 42" 500 driver, but the driver even recognized and presented for use all of the custom sheet sizes that came from the old computer when I transferred my account info to the new one!
    Hoo-HAH!
(Now, if only you could fix the "no-scroll-bar-arrows" thing...! <gr>)

  • File orientation on the designjet 800ps, using mac os x and photoshop

    Hi everyone
We're having a problem with the orientation of the printout we're getting from a designjet 800PS...... The printer is working fine (except for some slight banding), but we are trying to work out the orientation first.
Essentially when we are printing A1 sheets from the roll of paper it is printing the long side of the poster along the continuous side of the paper. This means that we then have to chop half of the width of paper off, which is a complete waste. What we want to be able to do is rotate the image being printed by 90 degrees so we can print the long side of the poster across the width of the roll, thus saving us paper and making our rolls last longer.
We are using mac os x leopard (which has the HP drivers for this printer still installed), and printing from photoshop. I assume there should be an option somewhere in the system printer settings when we print, but i cannot for the life of me find them.
    Cheers in advance.

    Need more info!!
Are you selecting landscape or portrait orientation in page set up and the paper/quality tab of the printer driver when you select print?  Both those settings much match.  Are you using the autorotate feature?  Have you read through your user guide?  Found here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&contentType=Support...
Also, is this the 24 or 42 inch designjet?  What size paper?  Roll or Sheet?
Just so you know there are some quirks to getting portrait docs to print landscape - 2 fixes if you are doing everything correctly and it's still spinning your doc around:
1 - if you are printing to a roll that is smaller than the max size, you can lie to the printer and tell it you have a larger size roll installed.
2 - reduce the overall size of the original document by 1/2 inch.
There is an issue where when we use autorotate and then chose to print a portrait doc landscape, the spooling software actually makes the document 1 pixel too wide so the printer automatically turns the document back around.  However let's make sure you are setting things up correctly first.

  • Postscript Errors with Toshiba eStudio 2500c

    Greetings,
We had some problems printing to the Toshiba eStudio 2500c in our office after upgrading to Snow Leopard. I have read the threads about that and I do have their "latest" (3/09) drivers installed and the permissions set correctly. Adding the printer works, added as LPD by IP address and it finds the correct driver. Print jobs are sent successfully to the printer with no errors returned to the user.
Some things print just fine. Recent successes were printing a PDF and an Excel file. However, some things like printing from FileMaker or Firefox cause the printer to spit out a Postscript Error page instead of the document I tried to print. Here's what the page looks like:
    ERROR : limitcheck
    OFFENDING COMMAND : -- nostringval --
    STACK :
    /TSBPrivate
    setpagedevice
    (DSSC PRINT USERLOGIN=Dave)

The best information I could gather still indicates that Toshiba has not released drivers for this model line that support Snow Leopard. However, a friend of mine had a fix for this (I think) and I can't remember what it was, nor can I reach him. So I'm wondering if anyone here has any suggestions or fixes for this problem.
Using the Generic Postscript Driver does work, but it's too limiting because we can't choose what tray to print from, etc. Thanks!
    -Dave

    Hello,
I have basically the same issue as you do, although my setup is different. We have a Toshiba eStudio 452, and I am running OS 10.5.8.
I also found the most recent drivers and installed them onto my iMac. The problem occurs also from my PowerBook G4, using these same drivers (10.5.7).
As Kreetoo said below, it's true that using the generic postscript drivers work but many printer features are gone.
A workaround that I've found is to select "Open PDF in Preview" in the print dialog, which then opens Preview up. Then, using this PDF, you go to File > Print, and print again, and it works. I don't know what changes when you do this, but somehow it doesn't print the error message kreetoo quoted below if you do this.
It's very tedious, however, to preview everything you want to print, but it's the only way around it that I've found.
http://data.versiontracker.com/drivers/manualExtract/Toshiba/ga1190-user-english -v101_ext/extract/ReadMe.txt details a solution for MS Office users on Windows computers, but I couldn't find a Mac-equivalent setting in Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6.
This fault is possibly Toshiba's rather than Apple's although both should get together and get it fixed ASAP.

  • InDesign CS3 - MathType 6 Postscript error

We have using MathType 6.0 eps file to build the math in Indesign CS3 and this particular project has fully Math. Client required the Math using MT 6.0 only. I'm unable to create a PDF through postscript from Indesign CS3, whereas I would have placed the same eps file (MT 6.0) into Indesign CS2 and we should be able to create PDF through postscript. Our workflow is to create PS to PDF not to export PDF from Indesign CS2/CS3. I have attached the eps file (MT 6.0) for your reference. Kindly look at the error below Mr. Indrajith had earlier, while creating PS to PDF.

Seems to me you have two choices:
    1) You can give client required Mathtype EPS files without PDF.
    2) Or you can educate client. Mathtype EPS files don't always work. Illustrator AI files do.
You don't have to leave out the EPS files. You can still deliver EPS to client, in fact you'll want to save EPS (or WMF) as a source file from which to make changes. Just make the AI file for ID.
FWIW, I've been using various versions of Mathtype with different DTP applications (not just Indesign) since 1997. None of the versions I've used (I haven't tested 6.5 yet) has been 100% suitable for high-end desktop publishing. Despite that, I've always managed to make it work, and I've typeset dozens of equations books--some with literally thousands of equations in them--using Mathtype.
Sometimes the client really is wrong.

  • CS3 Postscript errors when printing MathType eq's

When printing documents in CS3 that contain placed EPS files that were created with MathType I get a PostScript error. The same EPS files print fine to the same printer from CS2.
Has anyone had a similar experience or know of a solution?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Phil,
I have also had the same problem with MathType equations in ID CS3. Similar to what you said, it printed fine out of ID CS2. I found that exporting my document as a PDF and then printing that worked fine (and that way the equations are all still editable). However, I'm unhappy with that solution because many of my commercial print providers specifically request that I print to postscript and distill. I know Adobe has assured us that using the Export function is perfectly legitimate and should meet all the needs of commercial print providers, but I'm not sold. Plus it's annoying to have to make a PDF and print that every time I want to print a document.
As an aside, I work on a Mac G5 and use LinoType FontExplorer for my font management. Is this problem limited to Mac, or does it happen on a PC also?
In trying to track down the root of the problem, my step were this:
I completely wiped my system of all but the necessary system fonts, uninstalled MathType, and restarted. I reinstalled MathType 5.1 for Mac. It automatically installs TrueType fonts, so I remade one of my problematic equations in MathType with the TrueType fonts. It used Symbol, MT Extra, and Times. I made a hardcopy printout from MathType - no problem.
I imported the new MathType equation into a new document in ID CS3. I printed to a postscript file, using "PPD: Device Independent" (which should take care of any individual printer finickiness). The .ps printed fine, but I got "[ Error: typecheck; OffendingCommand: makefont ]" when I distilled it (I've been using my Distiller settings in a professional book publishing environment for the past 8 months without issue).
Next I permanently deleted the TrueType fonts and installed the Postscript fonts that MathType provides, following the instructions that come with the program on how to do this. I restarted again, and replicated my previous test. Same outcome.
I opened the equation in Illustrator, and saved it as an .eps. Obviously this isn't ideal because it destroys MathType's editability on it, but this was just to test a theory. I imported the Illustrator equation into ID CS3 (with fonts embedded), and it printed to .ps and distilled fine. Because of this, I think your observation that ID CS3 isn't downloading the necessary fonts for the equations (which you point out can't be embedded in MathType) is correct.
Thoughts? I'd love to get to the bottom of this if anyone has any more insight.
    Thanks,
    Virginia

  • I am getting a PostScript error and need some help

I am trying to download an Illustrator file from my online class and am getting this message: %%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ]%%. Is there a simple solution, I have done everything that I know how to do. I have installed Illustrator CS6 and uninstalled CS5 from my computer and I have Acrobat XI pro installed. Please help.

It isn't clear what you are doing with this PostScript file. What are you doing, and where do you get the error?
Also, are there any other lines of messages first, this isn't actually an error, just tells you there was one.

  • Postscript errors CS5 and Canon RIPs/Printers

About to lose my mind here....
We upgraded our entire Creative dept to CS5 about 3 weeks ago. Since then, I've had 3 or 4 users experiencing the EXACT same issue printing to both Canon C6000 and Color ImageRunner 5051. When printing JPG files, they are now getting PostScript errors (i.e. "Error: limitcheck OFFENDING COMMAND:  STACK:  [1289 0 0 60 0 0 ]...."
NEVER, and I mean NEVER, have we had an issue with PS errors here. I've been here 3.5 years. I'm not finding any updated Canon drivers that addresses this issue.
Here's what everyone is running: 10.5.8, CS5. Printers: EFI Rips.
Really stumped here and can't find a fix.

I don't think so. These are being printed straight to letter or tablod paper.
I think there's definitely a CS5 issue going on here, as again, this never happened when we were on CS2 or 3 until we upgraded last month. And the fact it's happening with the same files to two completely different printers (i.e different drivers as well) points directly at Adobe again.
Fortunately, the one workaround SEEMS to be if you copy and paste the jpg image (this also happened with a PSD image, so this was more difficult with layers) to a new file, it printed out. Still, something isn't right.

  • Acrobat Std/Pro 7-8 postscript errors

I keep on having issues with users getting PostScript errors while trying to generate PDFs from Word docs.
I was initially suspecting their version/install of Acrobat but after reimaging machines, installing later version of Office, and on completely different system (running Vista) the problem persists.
The error seem to be pretty random and will crash the PDF creation at random times/pages (sometimes a whole document can be printed other time only a few pages at a time).
I have not been able to pin point anything, but Distiller keeps on dumping syntaxerror in the log file.
I changed the postscript lvl of the Acrobat print drive to 1 on my machine and was able to get the entire PDF from a problematic Word doc but the staff member can't seem to replicate my fix.
Any ideas of what might be causing it or how to potentially troubleshot those issues?
Online documentation is obscure, users are getting frustrated.
    Thanks,
    Sam

  • Postscript errors on networked Gestetner printer

I am the only Mac in a PC network, and am attempting to print to a Gestetner DSC460 printer.
I am able to connect to this printer through Appletalk. However, I get postscript errors when printing.
The most informative error, has beenthis from Adobe Acrobat:
+"This application does not support printing to a Postscript Language Level 1 printer.+
+As a work around, try selecting 'Print As Image' from the Advanced Print dialog."+
Based on other posts I have read, I have found and installed the "pxlmono" set of PPDs from linux-foundation.org to no avail.
I still get the informative error from Acrobat, and the non-informative gibberish from other applications.

The pxlmono PPD along with Foomatic-RIP and Ghostscript should work fine with this printer. Did you install all the items on the Mac OS X pxlmono page? http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/pxlmono
The PPD contained in that package is supplied by Ricoh. Your printer is one of the Ricoh family of printers. All of their network printers will support some type of PCL driver. The network protocols and printer command languages supported by the printer are found in the specifications. http://www.nrggroup.co.uk/Documents/brochures/gestetner/gestetnerDSc460cb.pdf
If you install all three packages from Mac OS X pxlmono page cited above and still get the same error message, perhaps the network the printer is on does not fully support passing AppleTalk packets. You may have to switch to some other connection protocol such as IP -> LPD.
This printer should work fine with Mac OS X. If we cannot determine the exact cause in this forum, you could try the Ricoh forum at OpenPrinting http://forums.linux-foundation.org/list.php?30 You can get help there from Ricoh representatives.
EDIT: I should have mentioned that the error message from Adobe Acrobat doesn't even make sense. The printer is not a PostScript printer. Acrobat shouldn't be complaining that it can't print to a PostScript Level 1 printer. I believe it is a spurious error message.

We have after re instatet our Designjet 1055CM but there seems to be some problems with it.
First of all we cant seem to get it online But let leave that for a moment.
The Plotter comes up with this error message  04C400 00003E0A and Google does not give a lot of answers to it so what is the problem ??
Further the plotter also shows the error 04C400 00233E0A and 0000D8 005D024B from time to time, but it is the first one that keeps coming up.
The plotter is hooked up to the network right now but I would actually like to hook it up directly via USB is there some kind of adapter to do this ??

    Further
Now the printer is installed via USB but still the error is there and it stops during loading of paper
the error here that crashes is 04C400 00233E0A
Isent there some lookup system for these error codes.
