Postscript printed via OSX is not recognised by OS 8.5 HQ print controller

We have a HQ printer that is controlled by a G3 running OS8.5.
We used to print via Quark4 on Classic, a postscript file and then pass it over to a hot folder on the OS8.5 machine where the postscript was recognised by HQ printer controller.
Since we have moved on to Quark6.5, printing through OSX print centre,
the postscript produced now is't recognised by HQ print controller, we need to do this for different hot folders.
However the file produced when printing direct to the spooler is recognised.
Q. what has happened to the postscript for it not to be recognised.

Even if it was compatible, AirPrint does not work through a USB link, only Ethernet or WiFi.
I do not see your HP 4500 listed on Apple's list of AirPrint compatible printers.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>  Therefore you need to take another approach.  To start, I suggest you download the free HP App, ePrint Home & Biz.  It has limitations, but should get you printing with your existing setup.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share and PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.
Your best option may be to share your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Programs that are reported to do that well are Printopia and FingerPrint.  Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.  <Printopia for Macintosh>  <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

I was able to register it though.

Not a surprise. The Acrobat 8 product family passed into End of Support back in 2011.

  • HP Laserjet 1010 & Wireless printing via Airport USB - Not working in SL

    Hi There,
After just upgrading to Snow Leopard on my MacBook I tried printing wirelessly to my HP Printer, but no luck!
    Printer: HP Laserjet 1010
Connected via: Airport with USB cable
Snow Leopard recognises the printer and is fine to print when the printer is connected directly to the MacBook via USB cable, but:
When I set up wireless printing, it finds the printer (via Bonjour) but simply will not print. The print monitor gets to 24% or so of the file processed and then just stops & fails.
Everything was fine under 10.5 Leopard. It seems it should work, but no printing occurs! Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Paul

    I had a similar-sounding problem with my HP1012.
    The fix:
    a. power-cycled the Airport Extreme.
    b. Updated firmware.
    c. Select Print in an application.
For an extended discussion of what I did see here - some of this may help:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2142906&tstart=60
Actually, at this point I have two printers connected: Airport Extreme ->USB powered hub ->2 printers. One is the HP1012, the other is an HP 4300 series inkjet. Took sometime to get it right, the first hub I tried apparently was not powered enough. In that vein, one earlier thread (a response to one of my posts) pointed out the possibility that the AE -> printer USB connection might not be adequately powered, and to try using an intermediate hub. Assuming your AE is performing properly in all other respects, don't rule out a cable or other printer connection issue even if the setup was working properly before.

  • Can print via usb, but not via wireless network

My new MacBook Pro prints to my Epson RX500 when the printer is connected via USB to the MBP. However, when the the printer is connected by USB to my desktop PC running XP, the MBP does not print to it. I can see disks and transfer files wirelessly among desktop PC, laptop PC & MBP. The MBP finds the RX500 on the network, and has a driver for it. I can set it as the Mac's default printer. When I print, say from OpenOffice or TextEdit, the dialogs seem ok. Sometimes I see the print queue icon wink in and out on the dock. But the document doesn't get printed. The desktop says the printer is shared, and I can print over the wireless network from my PC laptop running XP.
One of the Apple troubleshooting pages suggests that I should have the same driver version on my XP desktop and my Snow Leopard MBP. I don't know how to tell what version the PC is running.
    Any suggestions?

Just to be sure - you know that you can't use Epson's "USB-only" driver for printing to a Windows-shared printer?
You must use the Gutenprint driver - that's why Apple included the Gutenprint drivers in OS X.

  • How do i print from OSX 10.6.3 wirelessly to windows vista shared printer?

I have a canon MX700 connected via usb to a PC running Windows Vista. The printer is shared through my router and works wirelessly with all my other windows based pcs.
I can see the pc in finder on my macbook running osx 10.6.3 but i not yet found a solution to help me print from my macbook. I have researched far and wide and nothing i have tried has worked.
    Can someone please help me?

When you have a Canon inkjet shared by a Windows computer, you cannot use the Canon provided drivers. They will cause errors and give the impression that you have authentication problems.
For Windows shared connections, you need to use a driver that supports these types of network connections. Gutenprint is one such drivers set that will work and is preferred as it is free. However the MX700 is not listed as a supported model with the version of Gutenprint included with Snow Leopard and even with the latest version of Gutenprint does not support any MX series.
So you can either try one of the other Canon Gutenprint models, such as the MP150. But you may find that you spend a lot of time and waste a lot of ink and paper until you find a model that is compatible.
Therefore you could look at using PrintFab (www.printfab.net), which does list the MX700 as a supported model, but it does cost 49 Euro. There is a 30 day trial of the driver suite if you wanted to test it first to be sure it will work. If it does then you can purchase it later.

  • Print from samsung galaxy note 10.1 to HP Envy 5532 printer

I have brand new printer HP ENVY 5532 but am unable to print from my samsung tablet without sending an email. The things l need to print are not always email . What do l need to do please keep any replies basic as my IT knowledge limited

    Hi alibow,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you would like to learn how to print from your Samsung Android tablet to your Envy 5532 printer.
It sounds like you have already setup the ePrint feature of the printer as you mentioned that you are able to email a print job. To print other items, such as photos and web pages, please download and install the HP ePrint app onto your Android mobile device. Please note that your tablet needs to be running Android 4.0 or later to use the app. I have included the HP ePrint Mobile App FAQ for reference. The document still shows that Android 2.2 or later which is no longer valid.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  • Mac OSX does not recognise MFP 1213nf

Reposting here since I have recently upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks.
Original post (what I did when this machine was running Mountain Lion)
This is probably an obsolete system support problem.
This LaserJet Pro M1213nf is an old product from HP that I just recently (~3 months) purchased from a vendor as new. The MFP system is flawless and except for the occasional scanner tilt in grabbing the sheet from the automatic document feeder, works perfectly.
Unfortunately, when I bought it, I used an old Macbook with Snow Leopard to test it. Worked beautifully. I recently purchased a new Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion, and it does not work with that. This Macbook is going to be my primary system from now on.
Googling this problem has convinced me that neither HP nor Apple intend to support this, at least not anytime soon. Updating drivers from the store has not helped. In fact, each time it has happened, I have had to uninstall the new driver, and install the old Lion version of the drivers (see below).
    Current status:
    1. It prints without a problem. It copies too, but I don't really use that a lot.
    2. It scans but only with the HP Scan application bundled with the Lion version of the driver. (which was the last major version where this was supported)
    3. Image Capture, Preview, etc. do not work with this and the OS does not even recognize the scanner.
I installed sane-backends to work around the problem but I have not really invested a great deal of time into it and that did not help.
My question is - how do I hack it to work with my Mountain Lion install natively? I use Linux regularly, and have absolutely no issues compiling software, tinkering with things, using open source software, etc. My understanding is that Mountain Lion has changed the interface for scanners and that new interface is not available for older scanners.
Why do I need this to work? Well, I scan a lot of documents and there are some AppleScripts I want to use to do some standard post scan processing to reduce PDF size. The native HP scan application that comes with the drivers is an irritating piece of crap that wastes my time everytime I need to do something.
And I am not going to throw out a perfectly good MFP just because Apple and HP want to generate some undeserved profits off me. Good hardware always trumps artificial commercial software choices for this engineer.
    I am now running Mavericks.

The plists show them as different versions.
More likely is that your MacOS launch services database is corrupted.

  • Mac OSX does not recognise CS6 vs CC!

There is something wrong with the info.plist for Photoshop CC. Mac OSX Mountain Lion at least does not understand they are different applications. You cannot set files to open in CC instead of CS6. The OS believes they are the same application.
    Annoying.

  • Osx does not recognise any DVD or disk inserted

    Hi Everyone,
Since this morning I tried to use some disks on my MacBook Pro, (6,2) mid 2010, but the system did not load any of them and as long as I tried to insert one, it was espelled 5 seconds after without being loaded by the OS, I actualy tried  to put a disk containing an updated version of Debian, and it would not load into MacOSX, but misteriousely, debian's installation started from the same disk and the same drive i tried to use on macosx .
It is actually quite strange because I cannot understand how it could be possible that the same disk actualy loads on the Boot and it does not whithin mac osx.
Any suggestion on how to solve ?
    Thank you very much,
    Regards

Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
Go to your OS Help Menu.  In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to  your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility.  Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

  • Internet via ethernet cable not recognised: just wireless

    Hi -
I have an ethernet cable that supplies my internet, but Windows Vista (Home Premium) will only let me access a Wireless connection (of which I don't have one!).
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks!

    anch66,
Could you please provide a little more information. Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and what are their minimum system requirements?
Our G3 that connected to the web for years with OS 8.1 no longer connects because we changed providers. Juno requires OS X to load pages. We can connect to the server with the right settings but then it does nothing to load a page because the minimum OS requirements are not met.
Gmail is similar. It requires OS X to set up an account. I had my son set up the account on his G5 and then we could access it with OS 8.1 on the G3. The devil is in the details.
Do you have a second hard drive or a partition on your drive to give you a backup if the upgrade does not go well. Buying an install CD would give you a little better upgrade path.

  • OSX Mail not recognising Configuration Profile settings

    Hi,
I have a bunch of mail accounts that I created in Profile Manager which have been pushed to my iPhone. I then realised that I could use the same profile to configure Mail on my Mac so everything was nice and consistant. Except it doesn't work. I've installed the profile on my MacBook Pro, and the contents of the profile shows all the Mail accounts, however I was expecting to open Mail and see those account - alas it was not to be.
Is this how it's supposed to work? Should Mail be configured with the accounts showing in the Profile? Or do I need to do somethine more?
    Thanks
    Paul

I dont get any error's on my iphone that the smtp password is wrong or the server is down etc. And on exchange i can see that the mail has been send.
This indicates the mail was successfully sent by the SMTP server. If a message cannot be sent for whatever the reason, it will remain in the Outbox mailbox usually with an error message provided. A message moved to the account's Sent mailbox indicates the message was successfully sent by the SMTP server.
A successfully sent message does not guarantee the message will be accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server. Usually when a message is not accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server, a return email error message from the server is usually provided - but not always. Not with the high level of spam being circulated by low-life spammers.
Ask a recipient that is not receiving your messages sent by the iPhone's Mail client to check with their email account provider. You should be able to provide the recipient the long message headers for a sent message that was not received by the recipient.

  • How do I print via airport express from my iPad?, How do I print via airport express from my iPad?

I have set up an airport express which I can print through from my mac book pro, but I can't detect any printers from my iPad?

    Use the application Printopia.

  • I have installed wireless printer via the time machine/airport extreme base. Added the printer via the bonjour. There are times when the printer will display a black plug and won't print. I have to uninstall and then reinstall the printer.

What does the black plug display mean?

Get an Airport Express. Plug the printer into the AE with a usb cable and set up the AE to be part of the network (get an IP address from your router). You can get an older AE inexpensively on eBay.
