Potential XCelsius Issue

Gurus,
I am confused here and do not know if this is the right place to post this question.
I have built an XLF file in XCelsius which has 7-8 LiveOffice Connections which are getting data from the latest instances of my scheduled WebI Reports. The excel portion has lots of calculations as well. But I do not have many components in the model
Now, when I export it to SWF on the desktop and also to the InfoView, I can run it and some of the users can run it as well. But many users get stuck in the "initializing" step.
I did a HTTP trace and noticed that I get to the /dswsbobje/services/Session where as for some of the users it doesnt get to this step and is freezing on the "initializing" step. They do not get the authentication screen while executing the SWF from the desktop.
I also noticed that the CPU usage is very high and the page file usage is very high and once I get to the dswsbobje/services/Session it starts opening the LiveOffice connections and CPU usgae falls down.
The users experience the same thing. Their CPU usage falls but they never seems to get out of the initializing stage.
Twist to this is, the same users when he uses a different machine can execute the dashboard without issues.
I tried to increase the virtual memory on the desktop, but that didnt seem to help as well.
Any input would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Karan,
Check with the memory of your system. Try to close other application if you are working at that time.
The minimum memory required is 1GB however the recommendations are 2GB.
Check with the difference in the memory of the machine which are working and the one which are not working.
Thanks,
Amit.

  • Running BizTalk on multiple non-clustered servers. Potential serious issue

    Hi,
I have just discovered what has potential to be a fairly large issue in our current BizTalk Architecture. We are running BizTalk Server 2006 R2 on 2 different servers, running Windows Server 2003 R2. These servers are NOT clustered. Instead, BizTalk is installed
to both, configured on 1 and then on the 2nd, they have joined the existing BizTalk environment. We have 1 host with 2 host-instances for say an Orchestration Host. (So 1 Orchestration Host and then 1 Orchestration Host Instance on each server), we also have
a host instance for Receive and Send on each server.
This is a problem that I have identified on an application currently in UAT:
We have a routine called 'Recovery Mode'. It doesn't matter what Recovery Mode is but what does matter is that only a single instance can go into recovery mode at the same time.
    Consider this:
    bool inRecovery;
    while (isBroken) {
    if (!inRecovery){
    inRecovery = true;
    // Recover
    inRecovery = false;
    else {
// Wait, recheck until not in recovery, or fixed.
Imagine an instance on server 1 needs to go into recovery, it first checks the inRecovery flag, gets returned false so goes into recovery, let's say this takes 5 minutes to complete. During this time, an instance on server 2 needs to go into recovery, checks
the flag, but the flag on server 2 has not been set to true.... Now I have 2 instances in Recovery...
    My questions are:
    1. Can I cluster 2 non-clustered servers? I'd need to upgrade from Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard to Enterprise is that possible? If so, Can I simply upgrade and cluster the servers or would I need to format the disks?
    2. If no to number 1, where would you store the 'inRecovery' flag'? I can't store in a DB as there will be slight cross over where instance 2 might return false in my example just as instance 1 is writing unless I can lock it on write or something.
Some advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rod

    To answer your specific question:
    1. Yes, but you would need to upgrade to at least Enterprise.  Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard does not support clustering.  IIRC, the upgrade from Standard to Enterprise is pretty easy, perhaps just a SKU change.
    2. If you absolutely cannot upgrade Windows Server, then you'd have to store the state externally, such as SQL Server.  There shouldn't be any concurrency issues if you do the check in the right sequence.  Basically, begin a transaction, attempt
to UPDATE, return weather the UPDATE was successful, meaning that call grabbed the lock.  If you check then update, yes, there is a miniscule chance both will return the same value but only one near-sumultaneous UPDATE will succeed.

  • Where can I submit a potential security issues for OSX10.8.4?

This morning I found a potential security bug that allowed me to access files, applications and settings for my MBP before the OS had time to confirm my login credentials. I'm sure there are people looking to exploit this so I want to know if there is a place that I can submit the issue online or via telephone.

  • Potential motherboard issue?

I am having some issues with my computer that I believe are from my motherboard. The situation is that when I try to boot normally, windows loads (I get the splash screen), and once it has finished loading, my monitor shuts off and I lose power to my USB
devices. I can boot into safe mode, and everything works as intended, which leads me to believe that it is my motherboard driver. Could anyone provide some other potential causes that I should look into as well?
    Relevant Hardware:
    Asus v68 v-pro
    Intel 15-2500k
    Windows 8.1

    Hi,
As you mentioned above, your monitor shut off and your usb devices lost power.
I would like to know if you can login your system normally.
If you can only boot into safe mode, please uninstall graphics driver to test it.
If it works, please install the latest version for graphics driver.
Also,I suggest you update your motherboard driver to check the result.

  • Apple TV, My Receiver, and Potential HDMI Issues...?

    Hey all
Okay, I'm about to bite the bullet and snag myself an Apple TV, but I have a couple of wicked-fast questions that I think I know the answers to — but I'd like confirmation.
    1. If I get an Apple TV, I want to run it through my main receiver, so my plan would be to connect the ATV HDMI to my receiver like all my other components (my Onkyo has a single HDMI out, BTW). This will treat the ATV like all my other components as far as sound through my mains, etc.
Am I correct to assume this will work? Apple's docs seem to want you to connect directly to your TV...
    2. I have heard that upon upgrading to the v3 software that was just released, some people are having issues with the ATV recognizing when the receiver has switched to it, making an ATV restart necessary. Anyone having that problem? I feel it may be because these people are using legacy receivers...?
    THANKS!
    Maury

The problem is that the tv currently meets the HDMI standard too.
    So it's a little more complicated than just being tested to receive certification.{quote}
Which must mean software / firmware. I also have 2 other devices passed through my receiver, connected by HDMI, without issue. Nothing on my set-up, software or hardware wise (both box and cable), has changed for about 2 years except for the various Apple TV updates. No problems with v1 or v2, yet v3.....

  • COPA - Potential performance issues

    Hi all,
I am very new to the COPA, so please excuse me for any un clear explanation, and do not hesitate to ask to clarification.
My question is regarding the cost allocation (of overheads) process involving customized characteristics and would like to know if there is such known performance issues that are caused by:
    - the use of custom characteristics in the definition of profitability segment? Of course, it must depends on the choice of characteristics, but then are they any guidelines of how to design this?
    - the posting of line items on these segments?
    - the reposting to FI?
I have searched for OSS notes, find some related to performance posting in COPA (for ex: 35288) but nothing directly related to the use of custom characteristics.
    Thanks for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Yi

    Hi Maria,
Yes, I have found this note already although did not check all the related notes yet. The one I have checked do not have a direct link with the customized characteristics tough, even if they seems good to improve global performance.

  • Are there potential security issues if I run MySql Server?

I am learning MySQL and PHP, and have followed the instructions to download and install MySQL server on OS X Lion.
As I am beginner I am not sure if by enabling this I am leaving my system somehow more exposed to potential attack (I have selected the option "Automatically start MySQL server on startup").
So my question is: am I putting my system at considerable more risk by having this service turned on? Should I disable it when I am not learning how to script PHP?
If so, are there any simple instructions for making my system more secure while MySQL server is running?
I use the built in OSX firewall and Little Snitch.

Any time you run server software you are putting your systems at a higher risk. MySQL is known to be very secure. Still, there are ways to improve the security. You can restrict connections so that only localhost can connect to your server. Make sure you don't have default accounts/passwords or the root account enabled. Make sure to follow the initial securing procedures.
In general, MySQL is very safe. There isn't anything to worry about.

  • Potential MagSafe Issue

    Hi there,
Yet again another MagSafe issue. Today, when I got back home, I found that some (impolite words removed) decided to place my two MagSafe heads (the one with the green/amber LED and the five pins) DANGEROUSLY CLOSE to one another. They were arranged so that they didn't exactly touch each other, but got VERY close. They were like 10 cm or closer. (The cables crossed but no part of the cable were like broken or anything.)
This prompted me to think — and this is my question: *should at any time the two heads become connected, head to head, what would happen?* (Note that here none would be connected to the MacBook Pros, but they might be connected to mains power.) I am assuming an explosion and the two MagSafe connectors instantly relegated to the Trash.
    Please advise — thanks!

May I add that so far, both MacBook Pros are charging and are still working well in their respective one pieces (well... two MacBooks... so... ).
Indicator lights do both amber and green. 17-incher nearing a 100% charge from Keynote this afternoon. 15-incher charging at 82%. Still, would like to know what if the two heads were connected... thanks!

  • Potential Pidgin issue

Anyone else having MSN issues lately?  I don't know if this is a problem with Pidgin because this seemed to start when I lasted updated it to 2.0.2.  Anyways, to friends and family it's showing me as being offline when according to my side that's simply not true.  Also when I message someone they're able to respond but unless I message them first they get a message about me being offline.  I've been having this problem since about 9pm last night.  Any ideas?

  • Potential Fan Issue

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone else has experienced issues regarding their MacBook Pros. It's a 13'' model from Mid-2010. Currently running OS X 10.8.1 on a 2.4GHz intel core 2 duo processor, 4gb ram, and an NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 graphics card. After some use on the machine, the fan starts to become really loud and noisy. My first thoughts were that it was just basic dust from use over time. Cleaned it and powered it back on. Same issue. I'm PC Tech (not by choice) who owns all Apple Devices. My knowledge isn't as large in regards to repairs on any Mac machine. Typically, I have 0 issues with the machines. This is the first after being an owner of over 5 years of products.
Anyone experience this and have a solution? My first thought was to replace the fan.
    Thanks.

    You need:
    Compatible:
    - Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (SO-DIMM) format
    - 1066 MHz PC3-8500, DDR3
    - Unbuffered
    - Non-parity
    - 204-pin
    You can get it here:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_Mac_mini/DDR3
They also have videos for how to replace HD and memory
I would either get two 4 GB stocks or just one 4 Gb stick and use the existing 1 GB stick for a total of 5 GB. Y can always purchased another 4G stick later.
    This

  • Potential Motherboard issue? Back of Phone.

My friend gave me his old iPhone 4 today. My phone was stolen a couple of weeks ago, and I don't have the money right now to purchase a new phone. Anyway, this phone does not have a back, as in nothing is protecting the battery, but everything is fine, but one issue is keeping the phone from starting. I believe it may be the mother board, but I am not sure. On the back, I am speaking of the bottom-left corner, a little less than a half-inch away from the edge, to the right of the speaker mechanism, directly under the 3G blah-blah-blah. It's like a little curve that connects the piece of motherboard directly to the phone. Half of it is gone, and the other half is just sticking up. I'll attach two picture. The first image is showing what I am talking about. In this image, the problem is  in the bottom-right corner, highlighted. The second image is it sticking up. I just want to know if this is an easy fix? I'm not willing to pay for a replacement phone, but I will pay for an affordable repair.

There are several iPhone teardown videos online.  Nothing about the iPhone 4 is easy to fix.  Too, the "motherboard" is covered on both sides with dozens of components, and would be located near the front - not the rear - of the iPhone.

  • 1 user 2 names - potentially causing issues

Apparently I managed to have created one user with 2 names:
    - h32PM
    - h32pm
I also made h32PM an Cyrus admin in the /etc/imapd.conf file, as it was the intended.
    My Question:
How do I properly delete h32pm and remove all its data and records?
PS the user is only used regarding email

To be more specific regarding my issue:
    I have 1 user h32PM, but I have 2 inboxes:
    /var/spool/imap/user/h32pm
    /var/spool/imap/user/h32PM
The difference between both of them is the capitalisation
    My question:
How to rectify the situation so that there is only one mailbox.
I've tried using sirAdmin, but I wasn't succesfull
I want to just delete one of the two folders, but how save is that??
    Additional question:
When looking to my other users, I notice that all their user names are in non capitalised letters while their user names are capitalised. Is that the correct behaviour?
PS In the end I try to resolve the quota calculation on my mail server: According to threats on this forum I need to resolve 2 issues:
    - no double names (h32pm vs h32PM)
    - all users should have a quota, regardless the fact whether they need quota

  • Potential screen issues?

I apologise ahead of time, as this is difficult to explain (if you know where I might be able to post a picture to link back to this site, that would be great)
I have had my iPad Air since mid December. I applied a wet mount screen protector immediately, and if anything used less of the spray than indicated. I have no idea if this is related, however.
To the naked eye, my screen looks fine. There are no cracks in the glass. Recently, I purchased a new pair of sunglasses. With my older pair, that has your typical dark lenses, the screen looks fine. My new pair has a red tint, and my screen has the look of a crumpled up piece of paper. I cannot alter the look of the darker or lighter streaks by pressing on or around them.
I don't know what this means, if anything. I don't know if this is something to worry about enough so that I should try to replace it or not, since everything looks ok to the naked eye.

    Thanks for your reply.
Ignorant about this issue here (obviously, ha) but if what I am seeing is caused by the screen protector not being properly installed, shouldn't the dark and light 'streaks' alter in appearance when pressed a bit? Or are you suggesting that it may just be a problem with the screen protector itself?
I have not removed it yet, just because an iPad is quite expensive and I have heard that an unprotected screen can scratch easily. Is this not the case?

  • Potential battery issue

Our Mac Book Pro has always shown the battery power in percentages in the top right hand of the screen and would always warn us when we were below 20%. Now it only says "charged" with no percentage given and no warning when below 20%. Any idea what the problem may be?? Thanks

What happens when you change to icon only, or make some change in the drop down/pop out menu?
How many cycle counts on your battery?
My other thought is reset your System Management Controller (SMC):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If you tried the SMC reset to no avail and you think your battery is toast or it’s just being problematic, give Apple a call or stop into an Apple Store. This is particularly helpful if the machine is reporting the “Service Battery” message, if the battery is in warranty they will replace it free of charge. There are even some situations where they will replace out of warranty batteries too, but it’s a case-by-case basis and often relating to the cycle count and age of the battery. You can check your batteries functionality with a free utility called <a href"http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/">CoconutBattery.

  • Potential Security Issue / Question

Upon screwing with my application, I noticed that when I am developing a page, I can select to go into debug mode. When I do, the URL changes from "f?p=&APP_ID.:&PAGE_ID.:&SESSION_ID.::::" to "f?p=&APP_ID.:&PAGE_ID.:&SESSION_ID.::YES::".
This "YES" in the URL changes the page view to a debug view, which shows hidden items, sql statements which reveal tables and columns, and anything else included in the page processing phase.
So, I logged into my application (as well as some others) on a few different PCs without logging into HTMLDB (so, therefore, I was not in development mode) and placed the "YES" in the URL.
And BAM, it revealed all the processing information. I don't really like the idea of this being a easy security target when I have a large amount of people using my application.
Is this a known problem with known solutions, and if a solution (such as turning this feature off) exists, what is it?
    Any help would be fantastic,
    -Tim

    Ah, ok. That makes sense.
So, once you set the Build Status to 'Run Application Only' the application no longer appears in the development environment, but what if you wanted this today, but in a week you decided there was additional development needed? Is there a simple way to bring it back?
I did notice that if you go into the workspace and select any application which is available in the development environment, the later portion of the url will look something like 'RP:FB_FLOW_ID,F4000_P1_FLOW,P1_FIND:333%2C333%2C', where the two instances of 333 refer to the application ID. If you remember the application ID of the application which is no longer in the development environment, you can replace the 333 with the ID. This will bring you into the Application Builder homepage for this application.
