Power adapter light is dim, new power adapter no light at all

My power adapter went dim and wouldn't charge. I bought a new adaptor and this one doesn't light up at all. Any ideas? tried different outlets that have worked for other electonics. Did I just buy a second adaptor coincindentally?

The power supply is shot. But that it lasted even this long is the wonder.. not that it died.
    The TC runs too hot..
Look on ebay for "Time Capsule power supply"
You can get a replacement and fix it although the economics are not so good.. it is probably time for a new TC.
If you can DIY it is really only a few dollars worth of capacitors that go bad.

If you have Apple Care or your computer is still under warranty, give them a call and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    See the not-charging topic of:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    Have you tried another cable?
Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.

Tried dfu mode and did not work. Any ideas? I can hear the PC beep when plugging it in! I suspect a bad battery and trying to charge it ina wall charger made it hot!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The appointment is free.

If your external drive does not have an independent power supply, you may wish to consider a couple of lower-cost options before tossing the drive. Bus-powered drives have no external power source and must get all their power from the computer. They can exceed the computer's USB energy budget.
    Cheapest option:
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
This gets power from two of the computers USB porst sna can provide enough power to wake up an under-performaing bus-powered drive.
If you don't have enough ports to use this, try the next cheapest option:
Newer Technology 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter for Mac & PC
Such a hub has a an independent power supply to make up for wahat the comptuer fails to provide.

  • I recently got a used macbook pro, and the backlight on the keyboard doesn't light up all the way, I was wondering how much it would cost to get it fixed..

If there is Warranty or AppleCare it will be covered at Apple Store. If no coverage, Apple does not repair iPhone 4 Power/Lock Button, for $149 they will give you a perfect replacement iPhone 4 exactly like yours with a 90 day Warranty. For the time being or as a permanent solution you can use perfect Virtual Lock Button. Tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap the new small white screen button > Device > Lock. You can even use this button to turn the iPhone OFF. To turn iPhone ON, connect to power, ie charger or USB port of computer.

  • No lights at all

My airport express just stopped working...no lights at all. I tried a reset and other power source and nothing.

Hello Trapezeguy. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
My airport express just stopped working...no lights at all. I tried a reset and other power source and nothing.
It appears, from your comments, that you tried everything possible and the the unit may have malfunctioned. When plugged in for a while (10-15 minutes) does the unit feel warm or cold? If cold, most likely, the power circuit may be the point of failure. Do you have a local Apple Store or Retailer that you can take the AX to, to verify?

  • Brand new iMac 3.4GHz fan runs all the time - how do I stop it?

Hi, just opened my shiny new imac but the fan runs all the time and very loud! Has anyone any ideas how to fix this or should I return the imac to apple?
I've also noticed that none of my external drive icon show up on the desktop - nor does the imac hardrive icon appear - any ideas?
    Thank you in anticipaction.

Try an SMC reset, you may need to do it at least 2x.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • After adding a 3rd light they all turn off

I'm building a project where I need several small moving lights on a picture of an audio mixing board. I've done this effect before in After Effects where I just created several point lights, placed them close to the picture layer then animated the motion I needed on all of them. The effect was great. I'm trying to do the same thing in Motion, and it works great until I add the 3rd point light. One or two lights it works great. But when i turn on the 3rd light they all turn off and the lighting goes to it's default lighting. Is this a setting somewhere where there is a max number of lights allowed? Is the program not able to handle the number of lights? Or is my system not strong enough? Somebody please help.
Dual G5 Power PC   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Final Cut Studio 2

Strangely enough, when I had this problem, both with an x1900 and a 7300GT, I loaded the Motion project into QuickTime Player and was able to export from there...

My new iPad is not charging at all no messages on pc and not with 10w wall adapter either and not syncing to iTunes on my PCM

Note that in some PCs not all USB ports have current/charging capabilities. A colleague had the same issue with a Dell desktop tower the other day, only the leftmost USB port on the frontside had charge capabilities.

  • Lighting Effects All Black

    Using Mac Photoshop CS6
Drawing Mode: Normal; "Use Graphics Processor to Accelerate Computation" and "Use OpenCL" are both checked.
Filter > Lighting Effects = all I get is black. The element I'm trying to add lighting to is completely black. What's more, the circular controls are gone. Point, Spot and Infinite are the same.
Used to work fine. Didn't change anything.
    Thanks.

Lighting Effects is dependent on your GPU and display driver.
You might have gotten a driver update through Windows Update that changed the behavior of your system.  But you haven't described  your computer, so that's speculation - you may not even have Windows.  If you DO have Windows, you may be able to get an even newer/better display driver directly from the web site of the maker of your video card.
It's also possible that if you go into your Preferences - Performance dialog, press the [Advanced Settings...] button, and change to one of the other drawing modes you might be able to recover the functionality.  Make SURE to close and restart Photoshop after making changes there.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If basic troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.
