Power Adapters & Replaceable Batteries For 20G Zen Tou

Hi there:
I'm going on an overseas trip to India in a few months, and I'd like to take all my muzak with me. Since the flight is 36 hours long and the battery life is 24 hours, is there a replaceable battery for the Zen Touch?
Also.. I'd like to recharge the battery while I'm in India. Is the recharger uni'versal, so that it works with a 220 volt outlet, along with the 0 North American standard?
Thanks. :manhappy:

Clearly you can't remove the battery for the Touch, but you might be able to build a battery box that adds to the battery time. You might be able to find something partially built with a search. I think I saw some links (either on here or Nomadness) for building a battery box with a voltage regulator that was pretty smart also.
All the Zen chargers are multi-voltage, working from 00 - 240V. You'll just need a socket adapter.

  • Accessories/Cases for a Zen Tou

Does anyone have any good links to websites or stores selling attracti've and useful cases for the Zen Touch?
I've found very little...a couple leather cases on eBay that apparently fit the Zen Touch (but were designed for PDA's), and a UK website selling the Exspect (sic) black, clear, and grey cases in 3-packs...for something like 28 pounds (about $40 or so). Why I would need THREE cases for one MP3 player is beyond me...if all I wanted was a fashion accessory I would have bought an iPod. :smileytongue:
Does anyone have suggestions or sources for nice cases or other accessories for my Touch?

Here's one I was looking at when I considered the Touch:

  • Any universal remotes for the zen tou

Looks like Creative won't budge on bringing back the FM wired remote or any new remotes for the Zen Touch. Pity- I think they would still make a profit. So does anyone else make wired remotes suitable for use with the Zen Touch 20GB?

  • Are they getting any closer to releasing a new firmware for the Zen Tou

I mean so I wouldn't have to use stupid Mediasource to transfer music, and could just plug my Z. T. into any computer and transfer music. It seems to me that some bright consumer could write a program to do this, or is it impossible for this to happen for some reason?

I think its pretty bad that a company that made over $375 million in Q2 and reported sales of over 2 million mp3 players is putting such little investement into providing updates for existing (still on sale) products, mainly the Zen Touch and Zen Extras... They seem to think that only Zen micro users deserve Firmware updates despite the fact that a large number of us have bought and continue to buy other existing creative models! Surely with such high profit and demand they must be able to put more resources into updates for their players (mainly Firmware), or at worst give us a serious time frame as when to expect the updates (if i had known how long i would be waiting i might not have bought my Zen Touch in favour of a differnet player). I have always looked upon Creative as a very trustworthy company that deli'very high quality and high spec products. I never for a moment thought that the updates would be so few and far between! I am afraid to say I am dissapointed :smileyindifferent:.Groan over!:smileyvery-happy:Message Edited by lukeg_uk on 02-8-2005 2:29 AM

That's the one I have, and it lets you acess all the buttons EXCEPT the Hold button. It is acessible though the fabric easily, but I cut a hole on top of the case so I can acess the hold button.

  • Direction on safe power adapters for iPods from US to Travel in France

Hello, I searched other topics found the Apple power adapter plug for the ipod discussesd this topic (which I do already have), but it did not SPECIFICALLY say that it will convert from US (110v) to Euro - France (220) volt. All the instructions from available power adapters (non-Apple) specifically say 'not for use with stereo or musical equipment.'
Help ! Can I just plug in my Apple ipod power adapter INTO a standard 110v to 220v converter and not worry about problems? Do I need to look for a special voltage adapter that works between certain amps or voltage ranges?
Best Buy, Radio Shack, Travel Smith and Sharper Image were NO help.

the accepted input power range is given in the "About the Apple iPod Power Adapter's Voltage Requirements" section in this document:
iPod: About the Apple iPod Power Adapter
... and there's info on the World Travel Adapter Kit given in the "Charging iPod around the World" section in this document:

  • Universal adapters for europe/zen to

I'm leaving in a couple of weeks for a trip to Italy and I need to know if there is a preferred/best Uni'versal AC adapter for my power charger?
I have a zen touch 20gb and I don't want to get over there and find I have 3 weeks of inability to recharge my player.
Anyone know of a good company for this? I've heard about a Belkin (cheaper) and a Targus (more expensi've).
    thanks in advance

    crbtino,
The bundled adaptor for the Zen Touch player is a uni'versal charger. You can double check this by checking the adaptor you have. If it states 00-240V 50/60Hz then it's a uni'versal charger.

  • Aftermarket power adapters for MacBook

I travel a lot and am extremely frustrated by the lack of aftermarket power adapters to support the MacBook on long flights.
This appears to be solely a function of Apple's policy on licensing their "wonderful" power connector!
I consider it a very good reason to NOT buy MacBook computers! If I had known that Apple would restrict the availability of airplane adapters for the MacBook, and would not provide anything themselves, I would have switched back to the dark side and purchased a Wintel machine that I could run for the duration of a cross-country flight!
This is just one of the poor planning issues associated with the MacBook product release (lack of a good travel case to fit the 13" MacBook is another).
There are NO airlines that make 110 volts AC available at seats. There are two standards for 12 Volt DC among the airlines, and most of the aftermarket power adapter vendors have good support for the Wintel and the iBook or PowerBook machines... but nothing for the MacBook!

    Welcome to the discusions!
Apple made a huge deal about the MasSafe adapters, so it is rather obvious that it would take a while for the aftermarket adapters to come out.
That said, there are a ton of power inverters that will allow you to plug your stock MB adapter into them and then into the power adapter on the plane. They are readily available at any place that sells PCs and run less than $40.
Don't so dramatic. It certainly is not a valid reason to not buy a MB at all. Get the inverter - problem solved.

  • Can new batteries & power adapters do more damage??

I am currently going through a repair of the logic board on my g3 ibook 600mhz.
I was just curious to see if it buying replacement power adapters & batteries can maybe do damage?
My ibook was working perfectly up until I had bought a new power adapter & then a battery.
Everything was fine up until about a week later the logic board failed, I do also remember the underneath being very hot.
    Could this be possible?

    No.

  • Remote for Nomad II MG compatibile w/ Zen Tou

I was looking around for the FM wired remote to accompany my Zen Touch 40 GB, and saw the remote entitled "Nomad II MG remote". The connector for this particular nomad remote looks VERY similar to the connection required for the Zen Touch remote also... Are they compatible? If not officially supported as cross product - will it still provide most of, if not all, the functionality to run the Zen Touch, or is?the connection COMPLETELY different??Thanks,?Justin L

They are different connections, I'm afraid.
