This is the second time my ipad screen has gone black. The power button is not working. I reset the ipad about two weeks ago when this happened. However, this time I am not able to get itunes to recognize the device. It keeps asking to respond from the ipad (obviously with a black screen that isn't going to happen). Im not sure what to try next...thoughts?

Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. No data will be lost. -

Hold down on the home button simultaenously holding on the sleep wake button (power button) hold it for more than 15 seconds this will then shut down the device.
If the device is already shut off do this same sequence to see if you get an apple logo. If you get the logo allow the device to login. Write back if this does not resolve your issue.

Neglect the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of thes programs
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I am having MacBook Pro 3 yrs old and today while I was watching some movie on it suddenly it got power off and when I am trying to start it, it's power button is not working even the round button on external left side is not showing battery lights. Disconnect other non-Apple and external hardware except (if applicable) a mouse and keyboard until your finished repairing your machine.
Problems solved: Fans blowing with no activity, machine is not booting, power button pressed and nothing happens, problems with indicators, Magsafe has wrong lights, battery is not charging, monitor and graphics issues etc. If the battery is not charged (from like letting it sleep too long), let the Mac charge up awhile afterwards.
Will not hurt the machine resetting if it's not broken.

Check battery status: Hold option/alt key down while clicking on the battery icon in the menu bar, top right corner.
Magsafe: Use the correct/matching power supply charger with your Mac, not a less powered one from another Mac.

Jailbreaking your iPhone forfeits your ability to receive any support on that phone, including from this forum.

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?! -

Hi, there is no fix for this unfortunately. However you can plug your iPad into iTunes and providing you have made a backup, you can restore from it

That's correct. Because how would you turn it back on again if the screen was off and your power button was on the screen?
Yo need to fix the button, or try letting the iPhone die out completely, then connect it to power and after it's charged for a while, see what happens when you press the Home button. -

Assistive Touch. Tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > at bottom of screen tap button > Device > press and hold Lock Screen icon > when slide to power off appears > slide it. To turn iPhone ON connect to Power Source with USB cable, charger or USB port of computer.

Hello, I bought an iphone 5 last year and it still in warranty . It has some regular scratches for the use but it never felt down.
The power button is not working now and I sent to an apple retailer here in Brazil (SOMA - Revenda APPLE Solution Expert e Assis. Tecnica Autorizada) to fix it. They refuse to do it saying that the button is not working because of the scratches what I believe is not true. And the retailler suggest to me to buy a new one.
And more, I receive the iphone with the factory configuration and I don’t know why.
I would know what can I do to fix the iphone. And How can I use the warranty here in Brazil.
I couldn't find an e-mail from apple.com support to report this.
I will stay in US next december. I can fix my phone in an Apple Store?

Otherwise, you can do a backup & restore, or even a restore as new (only after a successful backup).
If the issue persists, then look at a replacement. Either it will be a hardware defect (free if within warranty), or physical damage ($49 with AppleCare Plus, $149 without it.) -

i recently noticed that my original iphone power button does not work i push but nothing happens. I know that i have to fix but the problems is that the warranty is been over for long i need to know a good place to repair because the apple people said they could not fix it. I see that your printer power button is not working, and that their is no light indicators.
I think this guide should help. 'The Cover is Open' Message Displays on the Computer.
If that doesn't work, please respond with the type of printer you have as their are multiple Deskjet F2400s. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.
