Power button functions still available in lockscreen

Hi all.
I find it to be a real concern that my power button options (airplane mode, turn off phone, etc) is still active when my lockscreen is active. IE, you can still switch off the phone even thought u didn't unlock it.
Can anyone help to disable this. It's obviously a security risk to me.

Unfortunately you cannot alter this, however the chance of this happening is quite minimal as it would require the power button to be pressed, released then held down for a period of time immediately after the release of the button and before it goes back into sleep mode.

  • Restore Original Mavericks Power Button Functionality

    I'm curious if there's any way to restore the original power button functionality that was present in 10.9? I know that the slight tap bothered people with the power button being on the keyboard for some of the newer macs, but I have a mid-2009 MBP so for me accidentally hitting the power button is not an issue. I really liked being able to hit the power button and have the computer sleep immediately, kind of like an iPhone. Is there any way to change it back to that? The new way where you have to hold the power button for a couple seconds is just annoying as heck to me now (I got pretty used to the way it was originally).
    Is there a program or command I can enter to fix this? I tried Google searching for this, but a majority of articles and questions are doing the opposite.
    Thanks in advance.

    No. Sorry.
    Best.

  • Power button function windows 7

    just setup windows 7 and noticed when i hit the power button on the mac air it just puts it in sleep, i checked the function setting in start bar in windows and its set for power button action to be shut off. any ideas?

    maybe you and windows have a different idea about if it's a powerbutton or something else
    I would look around windows power settings and try changing some of the other actions which it have set to put it a sleep and change that to see if that solves it

  • Disable all power button functions in Windows 7

    I'm configuring some Windows 7 clients to be very locked down and only run a specific application.
    They auto logon correctly and start the application, but I have been unable to completely disable the power button in the start menu so that the users cannot turn the machines off in any way. I have set disable logoff and removed access to shutdown, restart,
    sleep and hibernate through group policy, but the button still defaults to logoff, with all the additional options in the arrow menu unavailable.
    My only other thought was to try a custom GUI instead of explorer.exe, but would much rather do it through group policy or registry if possible.

    I ran into this problem with Windows 7 at a radio station.  We needed to prevent our on air talent from performing any of the start menu power actions at all.  We have a Reboot Script should it need to be rebooted, and we can access the system
    as administrator by holding SHift key during boot up.
    We basically needed windows to be set up like a KIOSK, stripping and disabling - Shutdown, Switch user,  Sleep, Restart, Logoff and Lock.  here is what I have found to work.  I found this blog....

  • Shutdown doesn't shuts off the laptop in Windows 10 (64 bit)- FAN, Power button Light still on

    Hello. I have HP pavilion p045tx. Recently I upgraded to windows 10 update (64bit). When I shut down my laptop, the screen turns off but the power button light, fan etc still keeps on running. Previously I was running windows 8.1 home edition. I didn't face any sort of problem like this. Please give me solution what to do.

    Download version 9 or 10 of the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver.Navigate HP's Software and Driver Downloads site (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html) to find the latest approved driver for your model.  Filter by version, selecting Microsoft Windows 8.1 on the dropdown menu.  Look for the download in the "Driver-Chipset" category.  If an MEI driver with a version number starting in 9 or 10 is listed, download it.  [Version 9.5.24.1790 1.5M (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe) will work for most models.]If an MEI driver with a version number starting in 9 or 10 is NOT listed, download the appropriate driver directly from Intel (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=intel+management+engine).  [Version 9.5.24.1790 1.5M (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23091/Intel-ME-9-Management-Engine-Driver-for-Intel-NUC) will work for most models.]Download the Windows 10 "Show or Hide Updates" Troubleshooter Package (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab).Change the Windows Update Services setting from Automatic (Delayed Start) to Manual.In the Control Panel, select Administrative Tools and open Services.Scroll down to Windows Update and double-click it to bring up its properties.Click Stop to stop the service from running.Change the Startup Type to Manual and click OK.Install version 9 or 10 of the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver.  If you receive a dialog warning about replacing a newer version of the software, accept it.NOTE: You do NOT need to uninstall version 11 before installing version 9 or 10.  The presence of some version of the driver is required in order to "upgrade" (or in this case downgrade) it.Run the Windows 10 "Show or Hide Updates" Troubleshooter Package and hide updates to the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver.  (Doing so will block your system from automatically reinstalling or showing updates for version 11 of the driver.)Change the Windows Update Services setting from Manual back to Automatic (Delayed Start).Restart your computer.Rejoice!  You can finally sleep and shut down again.   --DanG

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • 5156-BX7 power button function

    I have a Packard Bell computer with the above motherboard in it. Course it may just say PB on the front and someone stuck the mobo inside
    But is there a way to setup the system so that pressing the power button in XP shuts it down?
    When I first got the system pressing the power button in XP put it into suspend mode. APM was off in the bios and disabled in Control Panel/Power
    I've got XP to shut down the computer(via start/TURN OFF)now by enabling APM in the bios + Control Panel\Power Options\APM tab.

  • 17.1 pencil tool: Is old "option/alt" function still available.

    Ok, the pencil tool has changed. That's great, but what if you really liked the the way it worked before? If I just want to "smooth" out a line a little, I used to hold "option" while tracing the line. AI would reduce the number of anchor point, while keeping the relative position of the line. Can I still do that? How?
    Ok, here's the explanation:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/enhanced-pencil-tool.html
    The "smooth tool" is now a separate tool. Thanks, Adobe! (not really). Why not leave "Alt/Option" for Smooth and access the "Straight line" feature with something else? Is this REALLY what your beta testers asked for? I can't believe it.

    I had stopped using the Pencil & Pen Tools in Illustrator a long time ago. Instead, I use Dynamic Sketch & InkScribe Tool respectively to do the kind of work I am paid for by my clients. Since I started using these tools from Astute, my productivity has gone up leaps and bounds. And I have recovered the little money I paid for these tools within a week of my purchase. And whatever I am now earning is just a bonus.
    These tools are really game changers. It makes vector building far easier, fun and more intuitive than Adobe's own unimaginative & clunky tools.
    I use the Dynamic Sketch tool to create fluid shapes and get a lot of control over how I build them. Since the paths that are drawn are dynamic in nature, I can always select them and dial-in different values for the Smoothness and Accuracy of the path. The fun part is that I can actually use my Wacom Intuos tablet to draw using the various Pressure settings. The paths that I draw could have the Variable Width applied automatically to them as I draw, along with the Pressure settings. This, as you know, is not possible with the Pencil Tool (even now the New Pencil Tool - strange name?!) does not provide.
    The InkScribe Tool is a smart, elegant & permanent replacement for the clunky Pen Tool - why do you need four tools (Pen, Add Anchor Point, Remove Anchor Point, Convert Anchor Point) when you can get all in one elegant tool. Even after so many years, Illustrator's own Pen Tool does not give me the 'Rubberband' functionality. It does not give me the 'Smart Delete' of anchor points with which I can simply delete extra unneeded anchor points without affecting my vector shapes. It does not give me the ability to 'lengthen just one handle' of a Smooth point without affecting the other handle (both its length and its angle). It does not give me the facility to add anchor points only at the 'tangencies' of a path. It does not give me the ability to change from Smooth to Corner (or Cusp) and vice-versa WITHOUT modifying the segments. And so much more.
    Your time, effort and creativity are of essence in this demanding & changing world and one can't afford wasting them, dealing with Illustrator's own silly and short-sighted tools and trying to find one's way in the maze. I would much rather spend that time to create beautiul art in less than a quarter of the time, using competitive offerings.

    I usually turn off or stand by on the power button. But that does not work after upgrading to Yosemite; now I have to click the Apple icon instead. Not a big trouble, but still annoying. Can I set something up to reenable the power button? If not, does a shortcut key to the apple menu exist?

    The monitor's Power Button Lockout function is enabled.
    Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to unlock the Power button function.
    If the above doesn't work then try a monitor reset.  Unplug the monitor’s power cord and hold down the monitor’s power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and power it up.
