Power button has to be turned on every time
normally when I want to use my computer I would just wiggle my mouse and my desktop menu would be there, now when I want to use my computer I have to push the power button every time.

My guess would also be a failling connection between your logicboard and your GPU. See 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card
For most users it starts with some random crashes and freezes like you describe it. And then it just gets worse and worse. There are still no "good" solutions, sadly. This is a hardware problem from the production. -
I need an application that will turn off my iPhone on the home screen just by a one click since my power button has sank and is no longer working--anyone have ideas?? I don't like having to use assistive touch and hit three buttons to lock my screen
No such app exisits or can exist. Apple doesn't allow 3rd party apps to access core functions of the phone. Time to get your phone replaced or repaired if assistive touch doesn't needs your needs.

If the battery was completely dead it may take some time to get it going.
Leave it pluggen into a wall jack for about 15 minutes then check back.
If not, you will need to make a Genius Bar appointment or contact Apple for a repair. -

If the power adapter is already plugged into your computer, the AC power cord is likely to spark as you attempt to plug it in. The power adapter is designed to shut down when a potentially damaging situation occurs. The "sparking" can cause over-current and over-voltage protection circuits to turn the power adater off. When this occurs, you should unplug the power adapter from the wall, unplug the power adapter from the computer, wait 15 seconds, plug the power adapter into a properly-grounded AC wall outlet, and then plug the DC output cable into the Mag-safe connector.

Whenever I close my laptop then open it it does not turn back on, the screen stays off but I will hear the fan running. I then have to physically press the power button for it to turn on. Help!

Try a reset even though the Sleep/Wake button is not woring.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

My power button has stopped working - seems to have lost it's 'spring'. My phone is over a year old and out of warrenty - any options? It also seems to be going thru the battery in less than a day which was never the case. Are these two situations related?
I don't know if they are related or not, but I'd take it in to an Apple store. They might be gracious and offer to replace it, or at the least, it may be eligible for an out-of-warranty replacement at a reduced fee (currently $149.00 for the iPhone 4, 3Gs, 3G, and original - you get a refurb as replacement).

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

I use a mac ios and shoot raw in a cannon 5d mark ii and shortly upon import of my images lightroom darkens and changes my images. This has happened before but not every time. The strange part is my last shoot had the same camera setting but this did not happen. The images i have now i can not use after lightroom has automatically altered them even if i try editing back to how they looked upon import
First thing to do is to change the default camera profile applied in Lightroom to camera standard (assuming that you shoot Canon or Nikon). Also make sure that your camera is NOT set up to use any of the HDR modes. Nikon calls those Active Dynamic Lighting. On Canons you often see things like highlight priority mode or "Auto Lighting Optimizer". Make sure that the picture style is set to standard and that for newer Canons the HDR mode is turned off. Most of the HDR modes simply underexpose the image and then add an instruction in the raw file to compensate for this to prevent highlights from being blown out. This causes more noise in the shadows and if you know what you are doing there is no point to this as you should simply expose correctly and get the highest quality raw.
Lastly, make sure that in Lightroom you have not checked "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" in Preferences->Presets. This should make the default rendering of the raw files the same as the in-camera jpeg (what the camera shows on the back even if you shoot raw) but still give you all the latitude of raw files. -
is there a way of wiping ALL Safari data, i.e. restoring Safari ? I think my Safari has a virus..as every time I open it, a web page called 'search quick' comes up. Its bombarded my Safari with constant pop up adverts almost every time I click!
There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
com.something.daemon.plist
and
com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
/Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
Open this folder:
/Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
Finally, in this folder:
/System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked. -
Satellite A65-S065 - Power button LED is blue & amber at same time
1st off I have an A65 S065 and has been working fine after a motherboard replacement, my fault it had to be replaced.
Anyway I have the power button LED is blue & amber leds are lit at same time. Anyone have an idea as to what this indicates, or perhaps I've gotten into something I do not know what it is and it needs to be reset back. Any ideas?

A65 S1065, I'm using it right now. The Power button is normally Blue, but now it is Blue & Amber (sort of a purple) both are on.
Only thing right now I've noticed is the front of Laptop the A/C & Battery LED's are green and the front power LED is amber. I haven't seen any LED's from the Disk activity or Wireless. The wireless seems not to be working right now, not sure why.
I've shut down system using normal shutdown and I've done norma restarts. Also, I have taken battery out and booted, as well as taking battery out and unplugging power and let set overnight. Still boots normally, but the wireless card doesn't seem to be working right now. I've just noticed this after I wrote my question.
Yes the power button has the blue & amber LED's on. For the moment this is the only computer I've got to work with, but a couple months back I replaced the motherboard and had things working great.
I think this happened when I was at UCF and using their network and I had gone away (locked car, but came back and restarted it and the LED's were on.
