Power button on ipod touch won't work?

The Power button on my ipod touch won't work at all, any suggestions?

Okay it says here https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do that your warranty has expired, my recomendation is to either clean it out with a needle, or just keep pushing it hoping it will un-stick.
hope this helped

  • New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3 says it needs 11.1 but I cannot load that on my macbook using OSX 10.5.8 any way around this?

New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3, says it needs 11.1 or newer but I cannot load that onto my MacBook running on OSX 10.5.8 - is there anyway around this?

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
    You can get 10.6.8 here:

  • Installed latest update, and now ipod touch won't work

Hello, I clicked on the download and install option for the latest update to my ipod touch. I think it was 2.2.1, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, now I have to hold the power button down several seconds, and I see the apple logo, and then the itunes icon with the USB plug which indicates I need to connect to itunes. When I plug it in to the pc, I get prompted that I have installed new hardware and need to install the device drivers. It is not recognized by itunes or my pc. Please help!!

Hello, all, my ipod touch is now working. Here's what happened...I called the tech support line and started going through the automated stuff. It started me with the reset which I had done numerous time. It then mentioned trying a different USB port. I figured it was a waste of time, but then I decided what the heck, so I tried the other usb port on the front of my pc. When I did this, it recognized the ipod in ituned and gave me a mssg that it needed to be restored. I clicked on the restore link, and minutes later it gave me an error message on the restore, and the ipod showed the apple on the sreen instead of the itunes logo with the usb cord. I then tried it back in the original usb port, and received the same windows prompt to try to install drivers that I had been getting all along. I put it back in the second USB port, and got the restore message again with it being recognized in itunes. This time it successfully completed the restore. I know it sounds simple, but if you have not tried a different USB port, be sure you do. Maybe the download jacked up my USB port? Anyway, I'm working again with the 2.2.1 download. Good luck to all!!

I upgraded the itunes to the newest os 5.0 and now my ipod touch won't register or even turn on, I get the initial screen that shows you to plug it in to the computer and then nothing happens

i have the same problem. I tried to upgrade this morning to iOS 5.0.1 and now my ipod touch is completely frozen. All I get is a black screen with the Apple logo and an empty download bar. I'm not even able to turn off the ipod and iTunes doesn't detect it anymore. Any suggestion except returning the ipod to Apple Store?

  • Ipod touch won't work after installing a new app.

    Hi!
Last night, I decided to install a new "Alarm clock," app and test it out by setting it to ring a minute later- what a BIG mistake, because during the time it was supposed to ring, it made my Ipod touch completely crash instead. For the past few hours all it's been doing is flashing back and forth between my homelock screen (with the "slide to unlock," bar at the bottom) and the Apple logo, with the round 'processing' image infront of it.
I have tried many different things to get it out of this funk but nothing has worked! I tried resetting the Ipod by holding down the menu and power button, the screen went black temporarily, didn't show the "slide to power off" bar and then just reloaded with the same two flashing images. I tried restoring it, but it wouldn't restore, until I did a special reboot that I read about via online boards- where you have to hold the power + menu buttons for 10 seconds, then release the power button whilst holding just the menu button for 10 seconds- but, whilst the Ipod did go through the whole restoring process thereafter, it didn't manage to sync up.
Now, not only does my ipod STILL flash back and forth between those two images. I keep getting an error message of (0xE80000001)! I used a different cable to try and sync up, but the blasted thing still won't stop flashing back and forth between those two images, and the ipod is not being recognised by itunes so the ipod keeps beeping, in and out of itunes and won't sync!
My ipod isn't 'jailbroken,' I haven't touched it's software or altered it in any way, to how it was sold to me. I would've liked to have brought it back the the Apple store to be looked at, but I don't think they'll help me because the top left hand corner of my Ipod is completely missing after my niece dropped it a few months ago- the Ipod still worked (up until I installed the **** alarm app) perfectly well until now!
Also, I have a mac, so any tips on how to access/help/fix this problem would have to have instructions for a Mac OS not Windows please!
    Many thanks!

I keep getting an error message of (0xE80000001)!

  • Fix stucked power button on iPod touch

    Hi,
I was using my iPod Touch 4th generation normally and then I tried to lock it but the power button was stucked even if I push hard it wont work.
The iPod still has the Repairs and service coverage (1 year limited Warranty) if I take it to an Apple Store, the repair will cost?
    Thanks.

Is the power button stuck because of a drop and damage to the metal casing? Or did the power button just malfunction on its own with no damage that you caused?
If you are under warranty and there is no damage inflicted by user, then Apple store should just give you a new/refurb ipod. You will have to restore all your apps and music so I would back up your touch before you take it into the apple store.
If the case is damaged then Apple won't cover it. They will charge you depending on the size of the iPod touch, 8gb, 32gb, or 64gb. If the case is damaged I would send it to iresq as I have sent multiple apple products to them and they can not be beat on price and customer service. Much cheaper than apple every time I have delt with them. They only do work for USA customers (not sure where you are locate).
I hope this helps, good luck.

  • How to unjam sleep/power button? iPod touch 4th generation

A few days ago, I was using my ipod touch 4th generation. It working fine. A minute later, I went to use it again, & for some reason my sleep/power button was jammed. I have to use immense pressure to make it go to sleep. Is there a way I could get it unjammed without opening my iPod? I don't want to risk it breaking it any further. I would take it to the Apple Store, but I don't have warranty on it anymore since I got it a little over a year ago when it first released. My screen is also cracked from last December. Will the Apple Store still fix the sleep/power button and maybe my screen without warranty? & how much will be? Individual or both? Much appreciated!

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.

  • Power button on iPod touch operates on its own

    Hello,
I have a 64 GB 3rd generation iPod touch.  I bought it new about four years ago.  It has NEVER given me any problems mechanically, and I know Apple has a good track record for this.  However, about a week ago, response of the power button became a little spotty.  I figured this was no big deal, as the device is four years old, it should be expected that every single button should not be as responsive as it was the day I got it.  I left it at that and enabled Assistive Touch to releive some of the stress of the power button.  This worked fine until three days ago, when the power button actually began to dictate to the device on its own.  I am getting the same spotty response of the button, but now it will wake up the device and put it back to sleep again all on its own.  I could be in the middle of selecting a new song or giving a voice command - then bam!  The device puts itself to sleep.  There are times when the device receives so much input from the power button it will flicker on and off from receiving so many spastic commands.  Then, at other times, the device behaves as normal.  A good way to describe this is electronic epilepsy.  The device will be functioning as normal - then the next moment - it literally appears to be having some sort of seizure.  It flickers on and off and sends all of the imaginable commands from the power button one could think of.  Sometimes the button sends the shutdown signal and I get the "Side to Power Off" pane.  I know this is an old device and that these mechanical altercations should be expected, but this makes it very, very difficult, and above all, irritating, to accomplish a task even as mundane as switching songs.  Like I said, this little iPod has been great and it has withstood many elements which should have done it in (like braving extreme sub-zero and above-100F temperatures multiple times).  So its life has not been a walk in the park, but it never displayed any signs of weakness, which is why I am baffled that in a perfect working enviromnent this odd quirck is occuring.  But I like to think of it as a workhorse, and I sure as heck wasn't looking to invest in another flagship iPod model just at the moment, so I would dearly love to get this issue resolved and get back to having this thing as my daily companion.  I have already done a factory reset and set it up as a new iPod.  This did not help.  Are there any suggestions as to what I can do to just get this device under control?  Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks
