Power button stuck? Battery charging issues

I have an ipad 1 and a couple of weeks ago, the power button stopped working. I can no longer lock screen or power off. The thing is that since that day, the power off slider keeps flashing on and off, even when using the ipad. It is especially annoying if i am watching something. When i try to power off using the slider the ipad just comes straight back on and continues to flicker.
After getting somewhat used to this issue, the battery completely went and so i plugged it in as normal and left it there for a few hours. When i went to check on it, the ipad had not charged up even one little bit. I have tried multiple outlets and even purchaced a new adapter and lead for it. This is highly frustraiting as i cant even try and power it on due to the button problem and when i do a reset nothing happens.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou

If underwarranty make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store for service under the warranty.  You can alos go ther without warranty coverage but if the iPod is devective yu will have to pay for a replacement iPOd ($99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity)

iPAD 3 battery charging issues. Read most of the discussions. My question is: If I take my iPAD to Apple Genius bar - what's the test they do to qualify for a replacement (do they place it on a charge and see the charge for Y% for X minutes or do they have other methods)

We're iPad users like you, so don't know.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Ipod Nano - Power Button Stuck

I had a nano that I dropped and paid to replace at the Genius Bar in September of 2012. Just a couple of weeks ago, the power button became stuck all of a sudden (literally, worked fine using it on the commute to work in the morning, became stuck on the commute home), making it exteremly difficult to press and function.
I just contacted AppleCare in which they said it was out of warranty because it was purchased in October 2005 (I think that was my 1st gen Nano!). I paid to have my nano replaced way under a year ago and they said it's because the warranty doesn't roll over?? Is this true? So if that's the case, if all of a sudden it stopped working a day after I get a replacement, I' would be out of luck too??
Please help! I don't want to put more money into this.

I had this question too and I brought my nano to the genius bar (remember to make reservation before going), they let me pay HK$488 and issued me a brand new 6th, exactly the same model of the one I had! Super satisfied, you should have a try too.
My previously replaced 6th nano the power button stuck, I think because I made use of the fast key of skipping the songs (pressing the home button twice while playing songs), the button I guess suggested to be over-used.
    Good luck

  • Nano power button stuck

My ipod took a dump on me yesterday at work when the power button stoped working on the top.  Now ive only had it for about 6 months and my question is will this be covered by the warranty?  Also the touchscreen is cracked but works fine will they make me pay for the screen even though i just need the power button fixed?

  • IPhone 4S power button stuck in down position

I just got 3 iPhone 4S's for Christmas for my kids through Sprint.  I am having a problem with one of the Power buttons stuck in the down position.  Sprint won't swap out the phone because they say I "ordered" them more than 14 days ago, even though I activated them on Dec. 25th.  So, now I have to drive 2 hrs to an Apple Store.  WHY????? Why can't sprint swap out this phone?  Why do I have to drive two hours to get to an Apple store so they can swap it out??

Apple will cross ship you a replacement. They will require placing a hold on your credit card, but you will not be charged so long as you return the old one.
As for the drive, I guess it's all a matter of perspective. I make the drive from West of Cleveland, OH to near Pitsburgh every few months to take the wife to the outlet malls where there's no sales tax on clothing. I don't know whether it's a good thing or a bad thing that my wife usually manages to buy enough that I save enough in sales taxes to cover the cost of gas back and forth...

  • IPhone Power Button Stuck

I currently have an iPhone 4 which I have had for around 7 months and the power button is stuck. I would just like to know what apple will do if I take it to an apple store?

Same thing happened to my iphone after it fell out of the poorly designed Griffin Elan leather holster case. Power button stuck on, phone cycling until dead. I read about the disassembly to fix, but figured that was out of my comfort zone.
I fixed it though, sort of.
I took an old Bic disposable razor and using a pair of wire cutters, I trimmed away the blade protector , leaving the plastic base and blade protruding. I broke off the handle and had a makeshift thin razorknife-like tool.
I inserted the corner of the thin razor blade between the metal case and the plastic button and pried the button up. Took two tries and the button was no longer stuck in the down position. The phone works now!
Of course, if I try to push the button back down it will probably stick, but I didn't usually power it off very often anyway.
I might try to grind the case with a dremel tool or something like that to keep if from sticking, but haven't tried that yet.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Support issue with X230 problem charing and power button stuck.

My X239 is not charing to the full 100%, I have two other Thinkpad models that my parents and they all change to 100%.. This is newer than theirs. Also the power button on the laptop is not flexing enough, you wont fee if you are pressing it. I send this for repair twice and its not fixed yet.I wonder the support tech read the whole desciption of the trouble or just goes by the category of the trouble. I like to talk to someone to make sence but its all automated. I am so much dissatisfied with their service and the product itself.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that battery of your Lenovo ThinkPad X230 is not charging to 100% and the power button is stuck.
I would suggest you to follow the below troubleshooting steps.
Shutdown, unplug AC and remove battery. Press and hold power button for several seconds. Then re-install battery and AC and restart and see.
Download latest Power Manager and Power Management driver.
Uninstall Power Manager and Power Management driver that is already installed.
    Reboot the laptop
Install Power Manager and Power Management driver
Reboot laptop again and see if helps.
Go to Power manager -> Battery tab in advanced view -> Battery maintenance -> Select always fully charge ->Ok and restart the system.
Ensure that the system is plugged-in and that battery firmware is up-to-date.  Check the Lenovo support site for any battery firmware updates for your particular model.  Perform battery gauge reset.  This will allow the battery to relearn available capacity. Update BIOS to the latest level.
Regarding the power button, you may have to disassemble the system and reseat the button. Refer hardware maintenance manual to perform disassembly of the system. Otherwise, you may have to report the issue to Lenovo technical support again. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Please post back with the results!

  • Because of low battery my iphone 5 got switched off and than its not starting by pressing the power button and in charge the white screen comes for 2 second and goes

Because of low battery my iphone 5 got switched off and than its not starting by pressing the power button or by keeping it on charge. While charging a white screen comes for 2 second and goes away. This process continues till the phone is on charge. Please suggest how can I start my phone.

    Hello Ritugor,
I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not powering on.  I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this.  I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • More battery charging issues.

Like some other people around here I've been having problems with my battery on my Macbook too. Even though my power adapter shows an orange light I still get an X over the battery icon. I've tried taking out my baterry and unpluging the adapter and holding down the power button and I've tried commandoption+pr at startup and neither have worked. So my battery refuses to charge and is so low I can't have my macbook unplugged for more than 5 minutes without it shutting down. I didn't start experiencing this problem until after I'd had my Macbook for a month or so, so I can't figure out what could be wrong. I took the computer to an Apple Store about two months ago for another problem (I went to restart my computer and it wouldn't fully restart) they rebooted and archived my system (I think that's how you'd say it) and the battery problem seemed to be fixed after that but then it started doing it again after like a week.
    Help, what should I do?

I have been having the same issue, and tried the same things you did. Ultimately, I found out quite by accident that if I unplug the adapter, shut off and then turn on MacBook, the adapter works properly & the battery icon shows correct info.
My question: Since this happens regularly enough to be very inconvenient, is there a fix to remedy the problem??

  • Power Button Stuck, Screen Freezes, Apps won't turn on, ETC.

Please Understand, I am an apple customer, I buy apple technology, and I purchase from the app and music store.
I am very unhappy with the service and technology Apple has provided me with. I am 15 years old and I don't have a phone to communicate with, only an iPod because my parents are of the older generation and don't think young people should have phones. So I guess I'm **** out of luck until I'm 17. So instead of having a phone, I bought and ipod touch 4g so I could use Kik, Snapchat, TextFree, and listen to my music as well. I have used multiple other Apple iPods, only to find out that every single one I got either got corrupted or would just out of the blue stop working. Just recently, I found out how ****** the iPod screens are, my iPod screen dropped not even 2 feet and shattered. So I had my brother in law, who has a computer and technology business, replace my screen and put in a new one. After my screen was put in, my ipod was completely fine. Had no issues and no cracks. But just 3 weeks ago my iPod power button somehow got stuck. I tried mutliple things to fix it, (even had my brother in law try) and we found that there is no way to fix it, AND I found out that the price to pay to fix a stupid power button was $99.00. By the way, paying to get a lousy power button fixed is ******* ridiculous, considering that making a piece of **** like this iPod, probably costs around half the price that it sells for AND is made in either China or Taiwan. Now I know I might get some pretty snobby *** comments about how I don't need an iPod because I'm just a little spoiled brat. Actually that statement is false, considering that I have to work to buy my own iPod. Now, instead of just writing a crap ton of useless words that I know alot of poeple won't read, I will just list the problems that I am having:
Power button is stuck and won't let me do anything. (No, I am not talking about the home button located and the bottom of the iPod)
Apps ALWAYS crash and never let me do what I intend to do. (I don't know if that's because of the app manufacturers or not but my apps are all completely updated)
My music on various occassions won't turn on.
Whenever I try tapping on an app, it leads me to another app in which I don't need to get to.
My keyboard on all occassions wigs out, (for example: when I tap the letter T my keyboard makes Tttttttttttt. I don't need that many T's, sorry)
My camera is slow, and will not take pictures most of the time.
    My asssistive touch NEVER works.
I have called Apple support and whenever I would get connected to a representative they wouldn't help me.
    The Apple support service *****.
As you can tell, I am not a very happy customer and I'm sure you wouldn't be either considering the fact that my iPod is basically toast, and a big waste of money. I know there are more things to worry about like cancer and whatever BUT this is a technoloical issue not a health issue so don't even try to play that card. If I could have any assistance regarding my issue, I would love to have help.
Thank you for taking your time to read my novel of an issue.

I would recommend that you try backing up your iPod and wiping it clean. Once it is factory reset, restore your data onto it. This should solve your software-based issues.
Now, the stuff that happens, such as another app opening or the keyboard freaking out, if not fixed by the restore, are because of your replacement screen. Also, Apple is charging you $99 to repair the lock button because you have voided the warranty by breaking the device. Who knows? Maybe the drop or the repair caused the button to go out of wack.
Finally, it's cool that you work for your own stuff. I live in a lower middle class area in a lower middle class family and pay for all of my stuff as well. My MacBook Pro, my iPhone 5S, my iPad Air, etc. I know the pain of spending hard earned money. BTW, I'm only 17, and still in High School as well.
Anywho, let me know if the restore works, but as for the physical damage caused by you, you can't blame anyone but yourself for that. I wish you luck.

  • 4 power button stuck

I own an iPhone 4 and the power button recently got stuck so I am not able to power off the device.  There was recently a problem with my service provider and I need to power off the device and power up to regain my internet capabilities.  I will be getting the device fixed soon.  But in the meantime, the only way I can figure to power the device off is to let it run out of battery power so that it turns off and then begin charging it again.  My question is this:  If I let the battery run out of power and I begin to charge it back up, does it power on automatically or will I have to use the non functioning power button?

It should power on itself if you connect it to the USB adapter as soon as it shuts off.

  • Powerbook G3 Battery Charging Issues

    Hi All,
My Powerbook G3 (with a new Newer Technologies battery) is not charging correctly. It charged at 100 percent for the first 2-3 cycles and has been falling steadily since. Now it won't charge past 28 percent. Thinking it was a battery issue, Newer has replaced it three times since January. What could be wrong?
    Chris

    Kathy,
Possibly a few of these comments and suggestions will help...
    - You have the Powerbook G3 Series M4753 a.k.a. "Wallstreet".
    - If the lithium ion battery is several years old or even the original, it may be shot. Normal life span of these batteries is approximately 3 years.
    - When you press the little button on the battery, do any of the LEDs light up?
    - Since the Wallstreet is apparently running off the power adapter, do you see a lightning bolt in the menu bar or one in the Control Strip at the bottom of the screen? This would at least indicate the charging system is functioning.
    - If you see no lightning bolt, shut down the computer, then reset the power manager:
    1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
    2. Simultaneously press Shift-Fn (function)-Ctrl (control)-Power.
    3. Wait 5 seconds.
    4. Press the Power button to restart the PowerBook computer.
If the power manager was properly reset, you will see a brief flash of the sleep light and hear a brief runup of the fan.
