My power button on my iphone is broken. I also forgot my screen lock paswsword. How do I reboot my phone?

Unfortunately, you don't. You would have to put it into recovery mode to restore it and you can't do that without a working power button.

  • Note retreival from dead phone with broken power button

Hi all - my iphone 4s is dead for good, and my lock/power button on the top is broken.  when i try to retreive my notes from the icloud, i get a message saying, "to use icloud notes, create a new email address by turning on notes in your icloud settings using iOs or or OS X"  is it possible to retreive my notes although i can't access the actual iphone itself? any help is much appreciated!

If you had ever gone to Settings>iCloud and tried to turn notes syncing on you would have been prompted to turn on Mail to create an iCloud email account first.  If you never synced them with iCloud they cannot be recovered unless you backed up your phone to your computer using iTunes.  If you did back up to your computer using iTunes, restoring the backup to another iPhone would recover them; or, you could purchase and use 3rd party software to extract them from the backup (like iPhone Backup Extractor).

  • Is there any way to turn an iPhone off without pushing the power button (it's broken)?

Power button on my 4s is broken.  Is there any way to power the phone off besides the power button / slider shut down combination?

Assistive Touch, tap Settings App > General > Accessibiltiy > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock Screen. If you touch and hold Lock Screen you will get the "slide to power off". This will turn OFF iphone. To turn iPhone ON, connect with USB cable to power, charger or USB of computer.

  • S III Mini Power Button

I just got the S III Mini and the power button seems super sensitive. There's no real "feel" of a button push, just brushing my finger over it seems to "activate" it, blanking the screen or bringing up the power menu, quite annoying at times. Is this normal, or is the power button on my phone somehow broken / stuck?

Just incase anyone comes across this with the same issue this is what i did...
If you hold the logic board so the front (with the optical drive slot) is to your left and the connectors to the right. Just up from where the switch connector used to be there's a small surface mount component which is where the track from the top of the connector goes. Soldered one end on here and the other end to the negative end of the large black surface mount capacitors at the left end of the large heatsink on the same side.
    Hope that helps someone...
Can breath a sigh of relief now :o)

        Hello to you Kevin8510!
The sleep/power button is a pretty important button! I'm sorry to hear that it isn't working properly for you.
We definitely want to help out in any way we can!  As Soupcannon mentioned, we would want to verify your warranty.  If you're still covered under your warranty and the issue is a physical defect not caused by any damage we should be able to replace it.

  • Touchsmart 310 pc - 1125f ; Loss of Power to CPU

    Touchsmart  pc -Model # 310 - 1125f
    OS: Win 7
Connect power supply unit to an outlet and a green light is visible on the power supply.
Connect power supply to back of CPU and no lights are visible on back of CPU.
Attempts to turn on the CPU provide no result.  After changing the external power supply, the result is no different.
For the I/O ports on the back panel, is there a way to check to DC power input to see it is functioning?
Would it be possible for a component to have been 'fried' and is no longer working?
All help & questions are appreciated and will be given response.

  • HT1384 My lock screen/power button on my iPod Touch is broken, and I need some assistance.

As the title suggests, I can not use the lock screen/power button on my iPod Touch, it is broken. I can use Adaptive Touch to turn the screen on and off at will, and also turn my device off. But if I turn it off, I don't know how to get it to turn back on. Could I just plug it into a charger and turn it back on, or would I need to plug it into my computer? Please help, in a few days I won't have access to it for 9 weeks, I need immediate help.

If you power off the iPod, it will turn back on if you connect it to a charger like a wall charger or a computer. I just checked with a charging source to confirm. I knew it did it with a computer.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • MacBook frozen with broken power button

i have a 2010 MacBook Pro that has a broken power button, which seems to be a common problem with this model. To turn it on, I have to open the case and short out two pins on the motherboard. Lately, my MacBook has been freezing on me, which leads to a solid black screen. I can move the mouse around but there is nothing to click on. Since my power button is broken, I cannot just hold it down to force a shutdown like usual and I do not have time to let the laptop's battery burn itself out all day so I can start it back up.
Is there anything I can do to turn my Mac off while it's still running? I have the back case open and the fans are going. I'm afraid to poke around in there while it's running.
    Thanks.

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Broken power button

    broken power button

I sent in my iphone5 for a repair/replacement unit on november 9, 2013, I was having an issue with the power button "doesn't work at all". It has no dents or any other issues aside from the POWER BUTTON. The good thing about apple is that the customer is always updated as to what exact stage of your iphone is at. After 20days, I received a text message: I went to apple to get the replacement iphone5. The  POWER BUTTON issue is resolved but i noticed some other issue on the replacement unit. New ISSUES: Dents on the right side near the screen and it also has screen discoloration on the screen itself. It got worse! There might have been some other issue on the replacement unit if I had used it for a couple of hours. I am so disappointed about the service. I asked the manager to have it replaced but I need to wait for another 2 week to 1 month TAT turn around time. Apple would lose a lot of its loyal customers if they would not do anything about it for improvement of their service when it comes to replacing a defective unit.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Unauthorized modification of iOS can cause security vulnerabilities, instability, shortened battery life, and other issues
Security vulnerabilities: Jailbreaking your device eliminates security layers designed to protect your personal information and your iOS device. With this security removed from your iOS device, hackers may steal your personal information, damage your device, attack your network, or introduce malware, spyware or viruses.
Inability to apply future software updates: Some unauthorized modifications have caused damage to iOS that is not repairable. This can result in the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iOS update is installed.
... It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of iOS is a violation of the iOS end-user software license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software.
