Power connection isn't working

I have a new power cord for my MacBook Pro. I plug it into the laptop, it turns green for about one second, then goes to orange. It doesn't show in the battery icon that the battery is charging, but if I turn the laptop over and look at the battery, the green indicators on the battery are blinjking like it is charging. I keep getting the "now running on reserve power" error. Now, just two minutes later, all of a sudden the screen gets brighter and the battery life indicator on the screen shows that the battery is at 74%! How could I be running on reserve power at 4% one minute and be at 74% the next?

Try doing a SMC reset. That might work for you....

My Thunderbolt to HDMI connection isn't working anymore.

I've had my MacBook Pro for about a year now (2.4 GHz i5), and I've been using a Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor to connect to my Sharp 32" LCD with no problems since I bought it...until this week when I updated all my software/OS. Now, I can connect, the displays prefs see the monitor, but all I get is black. No sound either...even though the sound prefs recognize the HDMI connection.
I know the problem isn't the cable. It used to work, and it still actually connects this same laptop to my projector...but it won't display on my TV anymore. I even get sound on my projector. It works like my TV used to. The problem started with the update, so I want to know what changed...and when Apple plans on fixing it. These are not cheap computers...I am kind of embarassed that I have to use my gf's $350 Acer to play Netflix on our TV when I have this multimedia monster gathering dust.
This problem is extremely frustrating, and I've been doing some research on it. It seems like quite the problem for a lot of people! There are multiple unresolved discussions on here about it (some of them over 40 pages long!) and I can't really believe Apple isn't dealing with this. It's been years now since this started happening, I guess.
We're mac users...we need multiple displays, and we need this stuff to keep working when we update! That's why we've made Apple into the richest corporation in the world. Step up superstars...fix this!
Again (just to be clear) I know the problem isn't the cable, so don't tell me to go get a different one, or that it's the issue. Me and my gf basically wore out Netflix with this very laptop and cable up until this week, and I've never had an issue with it..ever, until this update (to OS 10.7.5). Everything is in good shape, and if the laptop/computer is still feeding to my projector just fine...there's something else going on here, and I think a lot of people would love to know what it is. I am not the only person this is happening to, and it's been years since people have been begging Apple to fix this!
I hope that Apple looks into this and puts these discussions to rest. There are a lot of them! Do a search! The "More Like This" box on the right here is FULL of very similar UNRESOLVED discussions. This should be a priority. You've all made enough money off us...now make your stuff work like it's supposed to and close these threads!

No, I am a media professional who uses his MacBook Pro to connect to external monitors, and needs to continue to do so. I don't want Apple TV. I want my laptop to work again, like it's supposed to. Like it used to.
I have a demonstration this week at work that requires me to plug into an LCD screen and I am hoping to have this resolved by then. I am trying to convince my department to buy a Retina Mac and thousands of dollars worth of video software for live shows, and if I can't make it work, then I can't exactly convince them (or myself) to buy what I have been researching.
Again, I don't want wireless video or Apple TV. I don't want to buy any more stuff. I want to know why my Thunderbolt to HDMI cable stopped working after my update, and how to fix it...preferably before this meeting.

The power button isn't working :(

The power button is loose and I can't get it to turn the ipod. I can get it to work fine if I plug it in first so the problem is just the button.

If it is an iPhone 5 try holding the left side of the button down very hard. That Power Button Issue which can render the button totally unusable typically goes bad in an uneven way allowing some function in the way I described. You can use Assistive Touch under Accessibility to power the phone down.

USB port has power but isn't working

Hey guys,
One of my usb ports has decided to stop working properly, I'm still able to use peripherals which ONLY require power, an example being my external fan which works fine in that port.
However, I'm unable to use my mouse or any storage device in the port.
The lights(if any) on the devices will light up as normal but will not do much other than that.
I have not made any major changes since the last time the port was successfully used, it has just stopped working.
I've restarted multiple times and the issue persists.
All other usb ports work perfectly normal, no issues.
Specs:
Pavilion DV6 7029TX
Running Windows 8 Pro 64bit
All up to date with windows updates
If any other info is required please let me know.
I'd appreciate any and all help someone may provide in helping me get to the bottom of this.

I think we should try ALL the drivers. The Chipset drivers are the drivers for your motherboard and the other drivers are for the individual on-board devices. I am thinking we should do your Chipset drivers first and then your on-board drivers. Like building a house we should ensure the foundation is solid before adding the house on top. What I would like you to do is to download and install ALL the drivers from the HP Pavilion dv6-7029tx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers page. Ensure you download and install the Chipset drivers first, after that it does not matter which order you install the drivers.

If you hold the power button down for 15 to 20 seconds and the machine still will not turn on, you should do one of three things:
1. Take it to an Apple Store for an assessment and estimate.

Z1 freezing when opening basic apps, the power button isn't working either

Many apps (including basic ones eg. Camera, Contacts) make the phone freeze for a second, then I just get the "not responding"error. When I press the camera icon I just get a black screen. Exporting contacts also makes the phone freeze for a few seconds. So does Facebook, so does Youtube, so does most of the apps in my phone. I can turn of my phone manually holding the power off key, but if I want to boot it back up I have to do the force restart thingy (when you hold like 2 buttons at the same time) because holding the power key doesn't turn the phone back on.
I've tried everything from safe mode to the red button thing, but nothing helps.

My power button isn't working?

It won't work! I don't think it's stuck but I can't tell?

Is the phone on or off right now? If it's on and is not repsonding, it's a hardware issue that probably means a replacement, if it's off then hopefully the battery is just dead and can be recognized by iTunes.

Wifi connection isn't working!

My 1g ipod won't let me onto any kind of wifi connection. I can acess the server, but it says, "Unable to join the network _______" Someone please help! This is very urgent!

Do other devices connect to the router?
Does the iPod connect to other routers?
Try:
- A rest. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

My Itouch's power button is stuck and isn't working.

I have had my ipod for 2 years and it has always been in almost perfect condition. I have a small dent in the metal near the camera on the back, which I got sometime last year. Take it back to Apple. It seems to have a hardware problem if your power button won't work.

The flashing WLAN light means activity (data getting transferred). Try disconnecting all your devices and check whether the light is still flashing or disconnect the router from internet and do the check.
Do you have your SSID as linksys or the default one? If your neighbor has the same SSID, then traffic could result from your neighbor's one. Try changing your SSID and password. Make your security WPA/WPA2.
