Power cord of Time Capsule from USA can use in Asia or not?

I bought Time capsule from USA.Can I use that power cord in Thailand? Or do I have to use adaptor?

Time Capsule have universal power supplies.. 100-240v.. you should have no problem.
I do always recommend you read the bottom label of a device.. if it nowhere says 110v only you can assume pretty well it is universal.

can i partition the time capsule so i can use it as a server as well?

In order to partition the Time Capsule, you would have to open up the Time Capsule case, pull the hard drive, install it in a separate enclosure, connect the enclosure directly to your Mac, and then use Disk Utility for the partitioning operation.
Then, you have to reverse the entire process to install the drive back in the Time Capsule.
In addition to being a lot of work, something like this will void the warranty on the Time Capsule.
Niel's suggestion of creaing a disk image on the Time Capsule drive to reserve a given amount of space would be by far the easiest way to accomplish things.

  • Can't print through Time Capsule, but I can using USB to my MacBook

I posted something similar in the Time Capsule forum, but thought I'd try here too. I just got a new Canon MF4690, and I can print to it using USB from my MacBook just fine. Not so when printing wirelessly through Time Capsule. I can see the printer, but the job stops every time. When I set up the printer the driver is "generic" using the Time Capsule connection, but has the specific model number when I add the printer using USB.
I can see the printer in the Printer preference pane, and in Airport Utility, but when I print a job, under "status", it says "stopped". I'm baffled that this is happening! I hope someone can help.

Would I connect my Canon to the TC and set up the printer? Do I choose IP, AppleTalk or Other?
If the TC is providing the wireless access and is your only Ethernet hub, then yes you would connect directly to it. If you have another Ethernet hub connected to the TC, then you could connect the Canon to it. Either way, you want to use the Ethernet connection of the Canon and set a valid ip address in it.
With an ip address set, you can then add the printer by using the More Printers > Canon IP (UFR2) menu. This window lets you enter the ip address of the Canon and a queue name of LP. Then when you press okay, the UFR2 software should select the correct driver for your printer.

  • Lost the power cord for time capsule!

So I've lost the power cord for my time capsule. I went to an Apple store and they don't sell them but the employee said that it is a standard cord and I should be able to pick one up at a Radio Shack or the like? Has anybody else had to do this? I can't find the specs on the time capsule either of exactly what type of cord is needed.

who ever told you that has Model: 61-2876 | Catalog #: 61-2876 cord in mind. I'm not sure if it will work...it looks close....are you saying you were told you can't order a replacement cord from Apple?

  • I just purchased a 3TB Time Capsule.  I live in Italy and have 220V power.  The Time Capsule is rated for that, but the cord says 125V.  Can I use this cord with an adapter, or do I need to buy a new cord at an Italian store?

Due to the kind of plug used the US power cord is rated at the 125v value.. and legally we cannot advise you to use on higher voltages.. although I have never had issues in Australia.. 240v.
But adapters from your Euro power plug to US are generally ugly .. unsightly things.. and often sit high above the socket and are none too stable.. I agree with Bob.. just go out and buy a standard figure 8 power cord.. check with Apple in Italy for a white one.. if you are going to have it on show.. black are far more common. Or even check ebay for a standard power Apple power cord as a number of items they sell use the figure8 socket.

  • I can access my time capsule from my mac mini at work but my macbook can only access it from my home network. how do i fix this?

I have a Mac Mini and a MacBook, both were configured at home to access the time capsule. I have since moved the mini to work to use there and it has no issues looking up files on the time capsule which remains at home. The macbook whoever can only access the time capsule from within the home network. I can't seem to find what I may have done differently. Can anybody help?
Not sure if your allowed to post two questions, but it's may be related. I find that accessing the files on the time capsule from the mac mini or the macbook is very slow. Accessing the same files from an older HP laptop is as fast as accessing its own hard drive. How can I speed up the accessing of these files from my apple products. One would think they would work fast and the 'windows' computers would take minutes to map the drive each time...
    Thanks for any help.

I have since moved the mini to work to use there and it has no issues looking up files on the time capsule which remains at home.
This cannot happen by magic though.. you must have configured the mini to access the TC remotely.. which method are you using, BTMM and iCloud??

How is the Macbook configured to access the TC remotely?? If you are trying to use BTMM and iCloud, then it might be a case that with the mini running the connection cannot be done by more than one computer at a time.. this is generally the case although I do not know if that is specifically true of BTMM method. Try turning off the mini and leave it off.. (off not standby)... then reboot the TC when you are at home.. and then try and connect the laptop to the TC the next morning from work. See if it is then able to capture the connection.. if so start up the mini and I suspect it now will not be able to connect.. that will prove that the TC cannot cope with two remote connections.
There also could be another factor in here. If you are accessing the laptop via the same router as the mini is on.. then actually you cannot have two users mount the same files on a TC.. from the same IP address.. as far as the TC is concerned both devices have identical IP, that is the public IP of the work location router.
If you happen to not be using BTMM then the situation is even easier.. you cannot make two different devices connect to the same network resource using the same port. That is the failing of the NAT system.. one device uses the port then it cannot be used by a second device. You will need to do some fancy footwork and use a different port.
Anyhow tell us exactly how you are doing remote access.. otherwise I am just guessing.

Are you talking about files you are hosting on the TC?? Not Time Machine backups??
Can you tell me exactly how you are accessing the TC.. please do a test..
Copy a file to the TC and from the TC using the Laptop.. Use a single very large file, eg 1GB movie file.
Give me a read and write speed.. you can use activity monitor to give me an aprox average speed as well as peak.
Do the same test from the same computer with wireless turned off running ethernet.
Then do the tests from the mini.. same ones.. copy large file to and from the TC by ethernet and by wireless.. when using ethernet make sure wireless is off.
I strongly recommend you set IPv6 to link local only for your wireless and ethernet setup in the Mac.
    eg
Now do the test from the HP laptop and give me the results from that.
Is the issue wireless only.. ??
Then you might need to spend a bit of time fixing the wireless in the Macs.. you can run wireless diagnostics in Mavericks.

  • Can I share the files on the time capsule for all of the macs on my network and can I access time capsule from my laptop while out of town?

I have a iMac desktop and a macbook pro.  If I purchase a time capsule, can I use it as the central location for my files for both computers?  Can I access the files on the time capsule from my macbook pro when I am out of town?

Yes, with some provisos.. it is designed as primarily a backup location for Time Machine.
Look at Pondini who has a great deal of info in his KB of all things Time Machine .. as well as Time Capsule.
    Q3 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
Remote access is via BTMM and iCloud.. just look it up.
But the TC must be the main router in the network for it to work.

  • Can't connect to Time Capsule from Windows

I have a time capsule that I have set up at work which works great with my laptop (MacBook Pro) at work. However, when I try to map the Time Capsule from home (Windows 7, not the same subnet), I cannot do so.
I have been able to ping it, as well as access the Time Capsule configuration page through the AirPort Utility that I have installed on my Windows machine at home (I do so by going to File...>Configure Other... and then log on). So I can communicate with it but I can't map it using the Windows "Map Network Drive" command.
    Any thoughts?

I figured it out. I had to change the Time Capsule to only allow File Sharing with Accounts. Then, using the "Map Network Drive" and \\ipaddressaccountname and - viola!

  • Can i unplug time capsule from the ethernet cable and still use it??

can i unplug time capsule from the ethernet cable and still use it??

I have tried to extend that wireless line but as soon as i remove the LAN cable i have no internet connection anymore. So basically, does the TC get the signal wireless from the router??
The Time Capsule can wirelessly extend a wireless signal....but only if it is being provided by another Apple AirPort wireless router.
If the "main" rotuer there is not an Apple AirPort router,  you will need to connect to the network using a wired Ethernet connection.

  • Can i access my data on time capsule from some other network

can i access my data on time capsule from some other network that is my data at home from office over internet

There is plenty of info out there if you google..
Here is a summary I just put into another thread.
Remote access has been added back into iCloud that was in MobileMe..
Read the info on setting it up from cloud service.. BTMM.
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/back-to-my-mac/
If you want to do it without the cloud service, you have one major issue.. the public IP for WAN..
The internal IP of the TC.. which will default to 10.0.1.1 btw.. is irrelevant. It is the IP of the WAN which you use to access the TC over the internet. And here you have a problem.. the TC does not include dyndns service. So unless you have a static IP address from your ISP, this will cause you grief.
(If it is offered by your ISP.. get a static IP.. that eliminates all the issues.. and is far superior. Even dyndns service has issues if your public IP rotates too often. It is generally an extra cost item and requires a business account but some ISP offer it cheap or even free.. I joined an ISP that offered static ip for free because it gives me the ability to remote access my network without all the hassles you will see below.)
There are ways around it.. setting up your own domain for instance.
    http://dyn.com/support/airport-time-capsule-with-dynamic-dns/
But it is easier to simply use a different router.. almost all of them have dyndns service available.. place the TC behind the router in bridge and forward port 548 TCP to it.
This is a bit old but still relevant.
    http://gigaom.com/apple/access-your-time-capsule-over-the-internet/
Note .. there is no ftp, http, ssh (there is actually but it isn't accessible), or any other service to allow connection other than AFP.. so you must use a Mac in remote location to access the TC.
The setup for the two methods is slightly different in the TC.. in the first instance, you need to turn on WAN access via disk sharing page in the manual setup.
In the second case you do not need this.
Remember security and put strong passwords on the disk. There are still security questions about this.
If security is important.. there is a third and better (IMO) method and that is vpn.. you will need to buy a vpn router as TC also missed out on that.. establish a vpn with the main router and that will allow you access to your network.. you will also then be able to use SMB remotely not just AFP.
Also if this office is a large company they should be running a firewall, which would block your access to home. You should check your IT admin people for what is allowed.. generally the only acceptable method is vpn otherwise you can drag viruses and trojans right into the network without the firewall catching them.

  • I used an ethernet cable between my iMac and Time Capsule for the initial backup.  Now that initial backup is concluded, can I simply unplug the Time Capsule from my computer?

I used an ethernet cable between my iMac and Time Capsule for the initial backup.  Now that initial backup is concluded, can I assume I can simply unplug the Time Capsule from my computer without any glitches and Time Capsule will then run wirelessly.  Is this assumption correct?

can I assume I can simply unplug the Time Capsule from my computer without any glitches and Time Capsule will then run wirelessly.  Is this assumption correct?
Yes, if the computer will be able to receive a strong wireless signal from the Time Capsule.
I did not disable wireless.  So I assume the backups are occurring both with the ethernet and wirelessly.
It is inot possible to have both an "active" Ethernet and "active" wireless signal simultaneously. If an Ethernet connection is established, your computer will default to the Ethernet connection. If the Ethernet cable is unplugged, the computer will revert to the wireless connection.
I also show 2 wireless networks available through Airport.  Shouldn't there only be one now?
You have a simultaneous dual band Time Capsule. That means that it will always be providing both a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz network.
I named my new network the same name as the old network.  This enabled all of our devices to continue with their connection without entering the new network and/or passwords; however, I am afraid this may pose problems in the future somehow.  Any input on this issue as well?
Things should be fine. Devices will connect to the best signal.....either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz....based on their capabilties and location in relation to the Time Capsule.

  • Can't connect to Time Capsule from MBA

    Hi,
For some weeks I am facing an issue connecting to my Time Capsule. My setup is:
Time Capsule 802.11ac 3TB (the most recent one), running 7.7.2 (latest firmware), setup with Back To My Mac
Mac Book Air 13" Late 2010, running Mavericks 10.9.1, Airport Utility 6.3.2, setup with Back to My Mac
    iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.4
Basically, I can't connect to the Time Capsule from my Mac Book Air:
Time Machine doesn't see it in the list of backup disks to choose from
Airport Utility on Mac Book Air doesn't find itHowever, it is listed under "Other Wi-Fi Devices / Remote Base Stations", from there I can configure it (i think this is thanks to the Back To My Mac settings)
Finder shows it in the left pane, and can connect to it
AirPort Utility for iOS on my iPhone sees it fine and can configure it with no issue
What I could get to work:
Choose "configure other" in Airport Utility File Menu, type IP address and passwd of the Time Capsule, and Airport Utiliy can configure it (but it still not displayed in the main screen)
After doing this once, the TC became available in Time Machine (seems to work, first backup ongoing...)
I tried rebooting, removing .plist files, even did a fresh Mavericks install on my Mac Book Air, same issue.
Any suggestions ? Is this an issue with Airport Utility ?

I think it more likely an issue with Mavericks networking.
    MOST IMPORTANT.
Do you have ipv6 set to link-local for the wireless client in the MBA??
This is now essential.. and automatic doesn't cut it. Set to the actual ipv6 requirement.
This is not unusual problem BTW..
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4597
For mavericks I would also ensure your TC has all naming that is short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. That includes the TC itself plus the wireless.

Yes, probably can.. but it won't be fast. You are better storing programs locally and data remotely.
