Power Cut now Don't have Ownership of TM

I had a power cut last night and since starting up I've lost ownership of my Time Machine USB HDD and I don't know how to get ownership again. I've checked the get-info menu on the drive but theres no box to get ownership and DU doesn't have an option either.
How do I get ownership again?

Like I said, there are no permissions to repair on a TM volume because it's not a system disk. You're right though, there's no *ignore ownership* box on a TM volume, only a standard HD volume or partition will have that. If not being able to repair permissions of your TM volume with DU is causing you to think you aren't the owner then you've nothing to worry about. You are.

The iPhoto library should be in your user folder/Pictures unless it was moved.

I've tried everything others have suggested without any luck.
Now I'm stuck with a 300 bucks mp3 jalopy.
My big question here is :
why aren't we hearing from apple? why aren't they saying something like "yeah we messed things up but be patient. we are trying our best to fix it..." ?

Power cut now slow download speed

Hello.
I have had BT broadband Home Hub 4 since August and it has been ok.
On 3/11/13 our home and about 400 others had a power cut for 2 hours. When the power was restored the router fired up ok and all seemed well.
A few days after i noticed when downloading on iplayer it took ages to complete so i checked the router settings and it appears that i was put on dlm. I was on i think 7100 down and 660 up before the power cut but now i am on 5559down and 800 up since 10 November.
How can i get back to what i had before.
I dont have new socket just an old bt one for over 15 years.

It will usually recover on its own. Sometimes a short (10 second) disconnection on the ADSL input will force it to reconnect at a higher speed, or you can just leave it alone.

It sounds like you are are connected to your cellular network but cannot get cellular data to work when trying to surf the internet with Safari. First I would check in the Settings to see if Cellular data is enabled, or if Safari is disabled in the Cellular settings:
For the following options, go to Settings > Cellular Data and turn the options on or off, or follow the onscreen instructions.
Turn Cellular Data on or off. If Cellular Data is off, all data services will use only Wi-Fi—including email, web browsing, push notifications, and other services. If Cellular Data is on, carrier charges may be incurred. For example, using certain features and services that transfer data, such as Messages, could result in charges to your data plan.

I went to the Mac store to upgrade to Mavericks, got home and realized that I don't have iphoto. Does anyone know how to get it back?

You need to upgrade to the latest 64 bit Mavericks optimized, compatible version of iPhoto.
Older versions of iPhoto will no longer work under OS X Mavericks.
If you have a previous version of iPhoto from iLife '11, the upgrade to the new version of iPhoto should be free.

What will happen is that the new iPhoto library will be updated to work the new version of iPhoto an Mavericks and the updated iPhoto library will no longer be accessible to older versions of iPhoto or older versions of OS X.
If you want to be able to access the current configuration of your Libary with older version of iPhoto and an older versions of OS X, then you need to create a copy of the IPhoto lIbrary and move this copy to another location
You can save the duplicate iPhoto Library anywhere on your Mac's internal hard drive.
I created a new folder in my Home folder/directory called My Photos and stored the duplicate iPhoto library there along with other images I didn't want to be in iPhoto.
As long as the copy of the iPhoto library is made before you let the new version of iPhoto convert it, it will still be intact for older versions of iPhoto and OS X to access at some future date, if needed.

IPad with retina is stuck on error message that iPad is unable to back up. When hit ok, the message does not go away. Cannot power down. Don't have computer to sync with iTunes. Now what?

My coworker has a fairly new iPad with retina display. She has an error message that the iPad has not been backed up and needs to back up when locked, on wifi, and connected to a power supply. It has an ok button to acknowledge the message. Every time she hits the ok button, the error message remains. She is unable to power down because the error message stays at the top and disables the ability to use any other touch portions of the screen. She tried using Siri to reboot, but Siri was of no help. She just kept saying that she does not wear boots. Holding the power button down for an extended period also did not help. She does not have access to the computer that has her iTunes on it, so she cannot sync it via cable. She also does not want to do a reset because she has several photos that she does not want to lose. What can she do?

Try holding the Home and Power keys at the same time for approx 10 seconds or until the Apple logo appears, this will 'reset' the device - it won't lose any data doing this, let us know how you get on.

Both Office 2008 and Office 2011 will run under OS 10.7. As deggie points out, there are no free upgrades for MS for the older versions of Office (2004 and earlier).
If you have a slow internet connection, avoid the new "365" version of Office that is subscription-based. It has to "phone home" and there a number of reports of it not working well on dial-up or slow DSL connections.

Managed to restore Ipod but now don't have option to delete from it

After doing the same thing several times, I finally was able to restore the Ipod and it transferred all the music from Itunes again. Great Cheering! However, I now can't delete anything from the Ipod mini, only add things. Is there a button or is it yet another quirk?

Tried to upload 6000 songs to icloud icloud match. Only about 600 actually loaded. When I try to access these songs in itunes it says error occurred in upload and I now don't have access to these songs. HELP

If the machine is brand new. Be patient. Look in the top left corner and observe whether there is a "pulsing" dot in the magnifying glass.:
If there is then this is Spotlight indexing you machine. This takes a little while (and is annoying) but will complete. Also... if you have connected you machine to an external hard drive AND set up Time Machine the computer may be running a back (which again takes some time). Finally if you imported lots of pictures in into iPhoto, it may be processing th pictures for Faces.
If you REALLY want to know what program is using all the time open a program call "Activity Monitor" (found in /Applications/Utilites) and look at the CPU section and sort by CPU%:

The App Store version of iLife ‘11 programs will only work with 10.7 or 10.8. You can get the iLife ’11 DVD which will run on 10.6 on eBay or Amazon.com fairly cheap.
