Power failure during BDC

Hi friends,
I have a 100 records in my Session i have processed 50 records and power failure occurs...what would be the status of Database ??How should i proceed from here??

When you use
'Synchronous'  and the power goes off the records will rollback. the records will not updated  means the updation has to b fully completed or fully rollback.
In 'Asynchronous' if the records have been updated partially like out of 100 some records say 80 updated and power goes off then when you start next time it will start updation from 81st record
hope it will be usefull

  • Power failure during installation

This isn't a question, but a cheer. While installing Yosemite on my Mac Mini, the power went out at my house. Those of us old enough can remember the warnings that used to be attached to system installs---DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER DURING INSTALLATION! So you can imagine how anxious I was when the transformer outside went thump and the lights (and my computer) all turned off, with one minute remaining in the install.
When the lights came on again, I turned on the computer and waited to see what would happen. The Mini just backed up to the last stage it had completed of the installation (23 minutes remaining) and went on from there with a flawless install. Good on ye, Apple engineers!

Hello! A power failure during a sustained read/write operation such as an update will usually screw up the hard drive directory big time. Your best bet short of high dollar data rescue services is probably to get a cd/dvd that is bootable and try to repair the disk and get it to mount so you can retrieve your data. I always recommend a bootable clone for instances like this and also highly recommend DiskWarrior to repair directory damage. A power failure during an OS update likely damages the OS as well as the hard drive directory. Tom

  • Slow ADSL speed since power failure during trainin...

    Hi all,
When our BT total broadband was installed, we had a power failure during the 10 day training period (back in June).
At the start of the training period, we had a speed of 3936 kbps downstream:
    16:32:27, 28 Jun. ( 76.590000) DSL noise margin: 20.00 dB upstream, 6.00 dB downstream
    16:32:27, 28 Jun. ( 76.520000) DSL line rate: 448 Kbps upstream, 3936 Kbps downstream
which was within the speeds we expected prior to installation (from the BT website for our phoneline):
You can choose BT Broadband now offering:
    3Mb *
    Estimate download speed
    1.5Mb-5.5Mb
    Download speed range
However, since the power failure during training (June 2013) we have never managed to get close to that speed, even after consecutive weeks of the HH4 being connected. Our current ADSL stats are pretty representative of what we have achieved ever since:
DSL noise margin: 21.00 dB upstream, 6.10 dB downstream
DSL line rate: 448 Kbps upstream, 1344 Kbps downstream
The connection sometimes holds for weeks on end - other times it cuts out without any cause (from our end at least). For example, earlier today (after an uptime of 11680 mins):
    12:11:13, 27 Oct.
(3862269.900000) DSL noise margin: 21.00 dB upstream, 6.10 dB downstream
    12:11:13, 27 Oct.
(3862269.830000) DSL line rate: 448 Kbps upstream, 1344 Kbps downstream
    12:10:42, 27 Oct.
(3862239.140000) DSL is down after 11680 minutes uptime
    12:10:42, 27 Oct.
(3862239.140000) ETHoA is down after 11680 minutes uptime

  • G5 Power failure during start up and wake

I have an early G5 20" non-iSight iMac that has a power problem that is steadily getting worse.
As Apple support has expired and can't be extended, I'm at a loss how to resolve this.
    Description.
The problem first started as intermittent during wake up from sleep (power light pulsing). I'd move the mouse or tap the keyboard to wake the iMac and I'd hear the disk just start to spin up followed by a sharp 'pop/click' like the power cord had been pulled, and it would be powered off needing the power button to be pressed to restart from scratch.
Now the problem has worsened in that occasionally I will find the iMac has completely powered down during sleep. When I restart it can take up to 6 or more attempts to get to the point where I can use it. There's a sequence of restarts needed, each starting from pushing the power button, and then ending during the starting sequence with a 'pop/click' as the power suddenly shuts off. Each time the start up will progress a little further than the previous attempt until eventually it finishes building the desk top after login and I can operate normally until the next time I find it powered off after a few hours of non-use. The power failure starts initially from just after the welcome chime, and progresses to maybe 5 or 6 times later to during the desk top build after log-in. However, once logged in and operating the iMac behaves as normal, switching users, log-out and login, screen save and wake from screen save etc are all as I'd expect. I've not (yet at least) had any sudden power failures during normal operation.
The serial number of the iMac falls within the Sept 05 Repair Extension Program serial number range (not EMC 2056 though), but when I spoke to Apple Support they said that the lack of random behaviour meant that the problem I'm having is not related and so would not be covered by this program.
So I'm kinda stuck with a problem that is annoying when it occurs, which is daily at the moment, although it's been this bad a few weeks back and then was fine (iMac left switched on for 2 to 3 weeks without a problem) until we had a power cut earlier this week, and it's started again.
I've searched through the forums and while I could find plenty of references to 'Sudden Power Loss' none seemed to be as predictable and similar to this one.
    Suggestions and ideas welcome. Thanks.

i am having a similiar issue. I have the same exact computer (iMac G5, non-isight) and it stays on for 30 mins, hour, 3 hours and shuts off. Upon starting up, sometimes it doesn't make it to the login screen before shutting down again. I have downloaded heat temp monitor programs and it seems to get to about 70 degrees celcius sometimes. Upon restarting, I get the "report problem to apple" screen with this information. I have tried to restart the power supply too.

When you say the middle of loading a system update, what do you mean? Downloading it, installing it??
Now my MacBook Pro does not boot and only has an error message when I power up. I have read some forum topics on downloading a stand alone installer to fix and another on using my leopard install disk\utilities to "restore from time machine".
You need to boot into the Leopard DVD by inserting the DVD, rebooting and holding down the "C" key. After the language screen, in the menu, top left, under Utilities, run disk utility and repair HD and permissions.
    That's the first step.
If that does not work, boot into the safe mode by holding down the shift key on boot. If you get to the login screen, you are probably in good shape - just click restart and let the system reboot normally.

  • Power failure during full disk encryption

I enabled the full disk encryption and during the encryption process I had a power failure.  Now my mac boots up, asks me for my login and password and then hangs in the apple logo and runs the processor and fans at full power.
I am assuming that it may be finishing the encryption but I have left it on for several hours and it just stays in the same screen.  I am running a 2008 Macbook Pro with a 2.8 dual core processor, 6MB ram and 750GB HD.
Does anyone know if it will eventually come back to life or should I be looking into rebuilding the drive?
    Thank you,
    -Matt

For MisterFlo and others interested I'll elaborate a bit more, it was late when I posted..
The Equium A300 was a Vista SP1 WinRE setup which requires the latest huge WAIK download you've mentioned (which supports Vista SP1 and Server 2008) plus also a Vista SP1 DVD or source files to create the ERD.
For the original Vista RE setups you will need the older WAIK (which is a paltry 800Mb) and likely the previous 2007 Optimization Park for the pre SP1 ERD plus of course a Vista source.
One final tip - don't boot off the HDD to try the repair until all the files are substituted and the permissions for the files you've replaced are fixed and the BCD else it's almost certain you'll get a 0xc000000f error - "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

  • PowerMac won't boot after power failure during install

Hi, sorry if this has been asked. I searched, but I'm not quite sure how to phrase it.
I bought a used PowerMac from craigslist and went to install a newer version of OSX. I had a power failure in the middle of the install and now the computer won't boot up. How do I go back to a fresh re-install and get the computer to boot up?
    Much appreciated!

Did you use a retail install DVD? If you used a gray disc from another model Mac, that could be a  problem.
Because of the power failure, suggest you reset the PMU. How long was the power Off? You may need to replace the PRAM battery.

  • Power Failure during 10.6.8 update

I had just started the 10.6.8 and other software update when my circuit breaker blew. Got power back, Mac Pro started up OK. I'm on it now. I'm still showing 10.6.7 and the software updater shows all the same software I'm supposed to update as before the crash. I'm pretty sure nothing installed and I was just at the beginning of downloading.
But I'm wondering if I need to do anything, any cleanup of partially downloaded files? Run Disk Utility or Disk Warrior, check my files?
I did a bootable mirror backup to an external drive before starting the upgrade so I'm protected.
Being a prewar apartment but a new residence, the power seems unstable and the wiring is really old. I've changed a few light switches and the sheating just crumbles. Scary. I'm getting an APC battery backup tomorrow as this is not the first failure.
If it's it important to know what Updater says, here you go:
iWeb - 3.0.4 (never use tho)
iMove - 9.0.4 (never use tho)
    iPhoto - 9.1.5

Dig Camera Raw Compatibility - 3.7
    iTunes - 10.4
    Java #5 for OS 10.6 - 1.0

Anyway, should I do any maintenance or just try updating again with less electronic things running like my 2nd AC.
    Thanks,
    Steven

Yes Software Update says I need to update exactly the same files it did before the outage and I had basically just clicked the various Agree buttons and then a minute later, crash... So I'm quite sure nothing got installed. Matter of fact the progress bar was just getting oriented and first said 9 hrs to complete, then 8, the 7, etc.
I ran Disk Utility after starting off another drive and had no disk errors reported.
The ran Disk Warrior to check my files and got two unrepairable ones which I wonder if they have anything to do with the download, or not, and either way, should I trash them? Do you or anyone recognize these 2 bolded broken files and know what I should do if anything about them?

  • Power failure during pacman sync - recovery?

    Hi,
Due to a flaky power brick, my laptop died suddenly amid a large upgrade run (kde-4.10.1 and a few other bits). After reboot, I found that lots of files were present but empty, and that pacman doesn't see them as owned by any package (when I know this is erroneous). I was tipped off to this by ldconfig (when invoked during the subsequent run of pacman -Syu) telling me lots of the KDE libs were empty.
I dealt with all the libs identified there by identifying each one's owner (guesswork, since pacman -Qo returned nothing) and running pacman -Sf for each package.
However, I've got no way of knowing what other files are borked. I just found kdialog also affected, and it looks like some wallpaper images too - KDE starts, but I dread to think what else is missing.
Can anyone suggest how I can fully recover the situation? Many, many thanks in advance.

Hi cfr, thanks for the reply.
Both suggestions helped along, though I think I must have already dealt with most or all of the packages that were in mid-upgrade (or so recently the disk hadn't sync'd yet?) when the crash happened. Here's the list of empy files courtesy of find, with a couple of snips for brevity:

Most of these seem to (a) make sense to be empty on my system (eg I don't use cups or mysql), or (b) it's plausible that they're meant to be empty for whatever reason (eg the perl .bs files and python __init__.py files, which seem to ALL be empty). The many empty .libs in libreoffice seem odd, but I ran pacman -Sf on all its packages and they remained empty so I assume this is expected.
However, if there's anything else in that list that shouldn't be empty, do please sing out.

  • A UPS model that works with Mac Native software to do a graceful shutdown and automatic restart during a power failure.

I've tried 3 UPS's (2 APC and one TripLite) that state they are OSX compatible, however, they do not fully respond to the native osx setting in (system Preferences/ Energy Saver/ UPS/Start up automatically after a power failure). This is what happens:
During a power outage, the OS does a graceful shutdown, but does not reboot when power is restored.
Apparently, the UPS is not notified to turn off during the shut down process. The power (on-Off-On) cycle is required by the mac to restart.
Trip lite tech support says they have software that works with Windows and linux to do this, but not mac.
I've tried two older APC UPS's, One Smart UPS1500 and a Back-UPS 1500 with the same result on two different servers and one iMac.
At this point I'm looking for a make and model of a UPS that does work. If anyone can verify a make and model that actually does this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Its a simple test, just pull the plug on your UPS, wait for the system to shut down, and then plug the UPS back in. The system should reboot.

Many of the CyberPower UPS units are compatible. Checkout the home solutions on this page: http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems.html

I have a DVD project that takes about 14 hours to generate. Is there any way to periodically save it during encoding so power failures or other problems do not require a complete restart?

No.  Are you saving the project as a disk image rather than burning directly to disk from iDVD?  If not then that's what I suggest you do.  That will separate the encoding process from the burn process to save time and disks if the encoding is bad.  It also lets you burn a second or third disk without having to encode again.
