Power failures and the WRT54GL

I have a WRT54GL. Yesterday, there was a series of three power failures where the power was restored within a split second. After this, I noticed that the Internet connection was down and that the power LED was flashing, which usually happens when the firmware is corrupt, as seen here: http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3703. After I power cycled my router, the router worked fine. However, I am worried if the somewhat frequent power failures in my area could brick it. The electricity from Progress Energy, the local electrical utility in Cary, NC where I live, fails approximately once every one to three months, often enough that WRAL-TV did a story on the frequent power failures last year. However, all of the power problems have been failures and not power surges. Are my worries justified that Progress Energy could brick my router with its flaky power?

In our application, we use FileOutputStream to write binary data to a file. We perform a out.close() to close the file. However, if there is a power failure, the data is not written out.
We created a simple test utility, which writes out 1K file containing 256 sequences of the string 'abcd'. After the close, we did a sleep(60000) to sleep for a minute. Everything works fine in the normal case. If however there is a power failure (pull the power cord), after the close() but before the sleep() expires, the file is not written out. We get a file of either zero bytes or sometimes a file of 1024 bytes, all of them being zero. The JVM sis the SUN JVM 1.4.3_08

FileOuputStream doesn't do any buffering so what you are seeing is the behaviour of your operating systems. They usually defer writes so they can be consolidated and performed at convenient times for the disc controller.

You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps..
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

Hi there. If you have 10.9 Maverick you can get in recovery mode By using /command r Option R or Option. Then you came click on the link to go to disk utilities and repair your disk or do a reinstall of you operating system. I think the screen you are seeing is the recovery screen. Here is a hot of what it looks like. a. User trying to create delivery but stock not available.
b. When stock is not there it should show an error message in SAP screen but its not - like stock not available etc
c. Fedex gets delivery notice for the delivery; if its more than zero it will create delivery otherwise less than zero it won’t accept.
d. But issue its creating even its less than zero

When one is created with zero quantities it starts blocking our deliveries from getting through to fedex because deliveries will in doubt have been blocked at fedex. As we process our orders in morning and if there is an STO blocking orders, it will be in afternoon .
Any suggestions !!!

Can you also see blackening in the power jack on the PowerBook? If so, I would be worried that the surge also damaged the computer/
Does the computer run OK on just the battery? If it is working on battery power, that limits the number of things inside the computer that could have been fried.
If the computer is severely damaged by the surge, it's not worth repairing. However, a couple of posters in Apple forums said their homeowners'/renters' insurance paid them replacement value of their computer after power surge damage due to known problems on the grid, like the huge power outage that hit the SW Untied Stats and part of Mexico yesterday.

It sounds like you are not able to turn on your phone. You should use these steps in the following article to help resolve it, or setup service if needed:

Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Hi. You might have a memory problem. With one or more of your ram being bad. If this is so you can try removing the ram one at a time and try to restart . You can also switch ram slots to make sure ifs not the ram slot. Before you do this try a pram reset. Command/Option/P/R holding down these keys while starting up for three chimes. 10.5.8 is the highest OSX it can run.
TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...

I'd avoid vesrion 24 though, as it no longer supports plug-ins like Flash.

Your iPhone is in recovery mode-- you need to connect it to your computer and, most likely, iTunes will ask you to restore it. If you recently backed up this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I charged my phone until 100%. Within 4 hours, the battery showed 1% and shut down automatically. Then, when I tried to switch on it displays "Have been in meta mode, long press the power button and the normal boot". I thought that the battery is running out, so i charged half an hour. When I tried to switch on, the screen is blinking with light but no display. Now i cannot switch on my A859.
Anyone can help me on this? i just bought this phone few days before :'(

Have you updated the phone in this time?Did you root it?
You should reinstall the OS.HERE you have the official ROW(Rest of the World) international firmware(You can OTA update to the latest version,if any, after)
HERE you have the installation instructions.
Pay special attention to the SP drivers>See message 7 of http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Phones/Lenove-S650-sound-issue/m-p/1413747#M3660 ( the topic refers to a different model but the installation process is the same for all Lenovo powered phones).

Try the remaining items of:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
