Power for my USB keyboard

I tried to plug in a USB powered keyboard to my I Pad 2 and got the msg. "there is not enough power to operate this device" and the keyboard does not have a power supply input or battery compartment. Is there a powered USB input connector that will power this keyboard?

It may  have worked in august 2011. I don't know exactly when the update came out, but the USB USED to put out more power but a 2011 update cut that back.
There are a ton of sites out there citing all the things the USB on the CCK 'will do', but if you look, they're all old articles. It was about the same time that you could no longer plug your iPad into a hub or extender and have it sync right.

  • Phantom power for a USB mic

I'm interested in a USB mic made by SE Electronics USB mic (2200A). It has zero latency because it has a built in headphone jack. The only problem is that it requires 48V phantom power. The only phantom power units I've seen online don't have USB or even 1/4" inputs. (they're all three pin mic inputs) How do I get phantom power for a USB mic?

it doesn't need an external poser supply when used as a USB mic.
I'm assuming you mean "power" supply? And that the mic in question only needs phantom power
if used with a 1/4" adapter going into an interface or preamp, but if directly plugged into the Mac USB port, it needs no other power supply? The salespeople at the store know nothing!

The Axiom is actually my favorite M-Audio controller, so I second that vote! While I'm a keyboardist and appreciate well-implemented fully-weighted keys (and real lives pianos!), I much prefer M-Audio's semi-weighted keys in their Axiom line to their fully-weighted controllers which are a little gluey and difficult to play.
So I second the vote for the Axiom.
However, I prefer the larger Axiom models (the 61, actually), but would recommend the middle sized Axiom 49 even if you are a one hand player. I've found that given the choice, one hand players typically prefer the larger keyboard even if only using one hand on it at a time. It just feels better to have room to plop your other hand on the keyboard, even if you don't.
That having been said, the 25 note keyboard might be perfect for the way some people work, and is obviously far more mobile and easier to accommodate on a single desk.

  • K8N NEO4-F: Can it power on via usb keyboard

I bought this mobo believing it would be good compromise between price & options for an HTPC solution.
I have not been able to get it to power up from hibernation using my BTC 9019URF keyboard/mouse combo.
In the BIOS it has options for resume from S3 by PS/2 keyboard or mouse. They aren't practical for me.
I have just flashed the BIOS to 1.D thinking it would solve the issue as it states in one of the earlier BIOSes inproved compatibility with some USB 2.0 devices.
I would prefer to have it standby in S3 rather than S1 but if the latter is the only option I would use it.
If neither is available I would be extremely p***ed as power on via a remote device is essential for an HTPC. I don't want to have to walk to my AV rack to manually turn it on everytime. I also want the ability to have it wake up from my tuner card for scheduled recording. If this is the case it should be made clear on the box the mobo is crippled & not a solution for certain applications.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply, Tuxsavvy.

If you have set your OS to S1 mode, try and press any one of the lock keys on your keyboard (i.e. Num Lock, Caps Lock, Scroll Lock) and see if the lights come on. If they do not turn on than, it is most likely motherboard is set to S1 and to conserve power, it cuts off power to USB ports (just in case if you have too many devices plugged into USB ports for example).
I don't have any lights on my keyboard (BTC 9019URF) but there is no activity on the RF receiver when I push the keys once the HTPC is in hibernation. But there is no wakeup facility for any keyboard/mouse other than in S3 mode & that is restricted supposedly to PS/2. I also cannot use USB>PS/2 adaptors, as has been suggested elsewhere,  as my board has an integrated mouse/joystick.

Though you may need to address that issue with MSI dev team and see if they can come up with a slightly better solution.
I'll see if I can get any response from them. I don't have any experience with MSI support, I hope it is better than some other manufacturers around.

In the meantime, maybe ask for support from Microsoft in terms of such issue.

  • When I plug in external hard drive to airport express it tells me not enough power for the usb port. I have the airport express plugged in to power

Airport express tells me not enough power to usb port for hard drive.
I do have power to Airport express plugged in.

The AirPort Express will not support a hard drive....only a printer.
If you need to connect a hard drive, you need an AirPort Extreme, not an AirPort Express.

  • Losing power to USB keyboard after upgrading to Maverick

Hi. Since upgrading to Mavericks 36 hours ago I've been losing power in my USB keyboard fairly frequently. Re-plugging the USB into the port works, but not for long. Anyone else getting this, and any fixes? Thanks all.

    Same here
    The situation I have :
During i type something, typeing suddenly freezes ( looked, like system became unresponsive) and after some time (1-3 secs) all that i previously typed appeared.
So it looked like keyboard was keeping all i typed in the buffer, and flushed entire buffer to the system.
During this stuck i tried to type something using MBP built-in keyboard -and all was very ok there, so problem is really in the USB keyb.
I tried to change batteries in it, but it didnt help , unfortunately

  • Using USB keyboard with Camera Kit

Is it possible to connect a USB keyboard to my Ipad using the USB camera connector?

This has been discussed here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2601824&tstart=15
You may be able to find a USB keyboard that will work, but best bet is to use bluetooth. The power requirements are pretty high for the USB keyboards.

  • Usb keyboard not working in windows xp pro sp2 , drivers not installing rig

I just got this mac book pro. Haven't owned a mac sense LC II.
I got a stand for the notebook at www.raindesigninc.com the mstand and I got the $50 aluminum usb keyboard apple sells.
I installed windows xp on a 50 gb partition, put the bootcamp in got all the drivers installed.
Then I got to the office today plugged in my apple keyboard and it was not recognized. I didn't have the bootcamp cds with me at the office.
Are the drivers for the aluminum apple usb keyboard on the bootcamp cd?
I've done some searching on google, and the only solution that i've read is downloading a new version of bootcamp then using a program called transmack to pull the driver out of the bootcamp image file. I hope there is a simpler soution that won't take up so much time.
So do I need to put bootdisk in again to get the drivers for this usb keyboard? Or how can I get this to work as it is now the usb keyboard doesn't work. I had to take the laptop off of the mstand and use its own keypad.

found out i just needed to put in the cd that came with the mac book pro

  • No Instructions to Dismantle ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint (55Y9003)

    SOLUTION!
Thanks for your help!  I was able to replace the USB keyboard inside its case.  For anyone else trying to do this, here are the steps:
    1. Remove all of the screws from the back, including TWO that are under the sticker and can't be seen.
    2. Wedge a thin piece of metal such as a letter opener or a knife at the bottom of the keyboard case, where the top and bottom come together (there should be space at the bottom)
    3. Slowly work your way up along one side, until you come to where the plastic tab of the top inserts into a slot into the bottom.  Pop the top portion from the bottom gently.
    4. Work your way around the entire case until the top and bottom are separated
    5. If you've received a replacement keyboard from Lenovo (which I did), remove the black plastic strip along the top left, around the volume buttons (it's not needed for the USB keyboard)
    6. Remove the cord in the back of the keyboard by gently pulling it from the circuit board, making sure to note which side the red wire is on
    7. Remove the circuite board (which is unique to the USB keyboard and won't be found on the replacement keyboard) and screw it onto the replacement keyboard
    8. Plug the USB keyboard cord back into the circuit board, making sure the red wire is on the correct side
    9. Check to make sure the keyboard and pointer are functioning propertly on the computer
    10. Ensure the cord behind the keyboard is seated in the slots correctly
    11. Put back on the keyboard case, ensuring it snaps tightly along each of the sides
    12. Put back in the screws

G5 dual 2ghz.  Been unplugged for a while. Powers up but no video or power to usb keyboard.  Boots up fine in safe mode, restart into normal mode ok. After shutdown, back to same issue.  What's happening?

I keep seeing people ask and the advice to replace if it has been unplugged, but really have nothing to confirm that from my experiences.
My experience is that a weak or dead battery can cause much more than date and time issues.
I have seen it time and time again.

  • Is there a way to use an adapter to connect my ipad to a USB keyboard and to an ACDC for power

I have a tablet keyboard with a male USB plug attached to it and it came with an adapter with a female USB on one end and a mini male USB on the other end. I was wondering if there is a way to use that keyboard with my iPad and iPod? There are adapters that plug into laptops and pc's that you can plug keyboards and mice into. Will it work if I plug the iPod or iPad  into one and the keyboard into one and then plug one into the ACDC power adapter (since I am sure the keyboard will drain the battery quicker). I am so tired of the iPad keyboard always hiding what I am trying to type.

As far as I know, there isn't any support for USB keyboards. THe iPad is designed to work with blue tooth ones.
That power issue that you state is why it likley won't work. An update in 2011 reduced the amount of power allocated to the charging port and I don't think it's capable of outputting enough to run a keyboard.

  • Using Apple USB Keyboard Extension Cable for Power

I have a USB keyboard extension cable. Part number is 591-0079. Can I use that to extend the power cable for my iPad when it is plugged in? Can I also use it for my iPhone?
I wanted to check first to make sure because it predates the iPad and the iPhone.
    Thanks any advance.

So there won't be any problems transferring power through it? It will charge iPad and iPhone without any trouble?

  • My usb keyboard is no longer detected after the power was switched off

I sometimes relocate my Imac to another office and after the power has been switched off the computer no longer detects my usb keyboard.
This had happened several times now and sometimes it all of a sudden starts working again after a couple of hours (but it doesn't now).
The computer keeps searching for a wireless keyboard which I don't have. I have tried everything from switching off power again to reboothing, but nothing works. I have checked all USB ports with other devices and they all work. The problem is not the keyboard itself, because it does work when I plug it in to my MacBook.
    Anyone recognize this?

Yes, to a blue tooth mouse only. I have tried disabling the blue tooth connection, but when i restart my computer it automatically connects again.
I got the keyboard to start working again now by pressing all the keys one by one (in order to discharge them, read that somewhere). I helped. But how annoying is that?!
