Power Functions of Car Kit CK-7W with a wired Pop-...

Hi,
Just a general query regarding the use of the Car Kit CK-7W in conjunction with the connector cable and a compatible cradle.
Will this sort of set up allow the use of features such as keeping the lights on all the time?
Can you use automatic answer?

carsound -- since you have installed so many of the CK-7W kits perhaps you can help answer a question that seems to be on the mind of many Nokia users that are having a similar problem to mine...
With the CK-7W and current model Nokia phone (mine is an E60) in a Nokia cradle (mine is a CR-26) is the functionality different than when using bluetooth? More specifically, the CK-7W supports everything the manual says, like voice tag dialing using the remote button, when in bluetooth mode but when it is in the cradle the remote only adjusts the volume and only gives a short beep when pushed. It doesn't activate voice commands or give any indication on the phone anything is happening. Just sits there. Is this consistent with your experience? Have you seen the voice tag feature work when the phone is in a cradle?
I can't get an answer if this is by design, a faulty unit or a firmware issue with my phone. In all my web searches it does seem to be an issue for many others (with other phone models).
Thanks for any insights

  • Replace MB built-in car kit for 6310 with E50 CR-6...

In my Mercedes ML I have a car kit compatible with Nokia 6210,6310i and it is connected/managed by Comand navi. Is it possible do replace the car kit with CR-66, using CA-55 cable and to keep all the functionality I have with the old one?
Thanks in advance for your time!

It is just a matter of swapping the cradle, you will also need to swap the antenna cable.

  • Will a voice dialing car kit feature work with iphone 3g?

I am a new iphone user, and I know it doesn't have voice dialing, but I can't figure out if I can get around this by buying a car kit that offers voice dialing (e.g. parrot or motorola). Does this feature on the car kit require that the phone do voice dialing itself, or does it stand alone?
Or ... any chance of an app being developed/released to allow voice dialing on the iphone directly?
    Thanks.

Tried it. It works, but isn't a perfect solution. Here's the direct link to the app.
There's a brief one-time initialization. With the app active, you need to press and hold a large icon while you speak. It searches, finds the contact, and presents you with a list of 4 possible numbers (main, home, work, mobile). Even if you have only one type of number (e.g. just the mobile number), you get all 4 buttons (the others just say 'not available') and have to press the button to make the call. It only works via the built-in mic, not bluetooth.
So, assuming you have the app open when you start driving, you'd need to press-and-hold while you speak, then locate and press the number choice. That's two looks at the screen, and that assumes it gets the name right (it did a pretty good job in my testing, missed one, and the "next name" button is pretty small. Easier than scrolling through contacts, though.
IMHO, a better bet for frequently called numbers is a Utility like Speed Dial, definitely worth the 99¢.

  • Next G models compatible with car kits and antenna...

    Help!
I currently have a CK-7W car kit with a soon to be obsolete 6235 CDMA handset. I am frustrated by the lack of quality handsets available on Telstra's new Next G service. The current 6120 Nokia only has bluetooth connectivity and no patch lead connectivity to external aerial. Has anyone heard if Nokia will be releasing a Next G model that will have a cradle compatible with the CK-7W car kit or any other hard wired car kit/antennae coupler or patch lead compatibility?

  • Can any other phone be used with a 6210 car kit?

    Hi,
I have just purchased a car and it has a nokia 6210 hands free kit fited into the car. It works as I have hecked it with a friends mobile phone, however, will this kit work with any other nokia mobile phones?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

If it is a genuine Nokia cark-91 then you can buy a ca-55 converter lead & a new cradle, however there are lots grey areas to wether or not you car kit will work with the new phone that you get. My advice would be to invest in a new car kit, it wont cost you much more and you will be able to guarantee compatability & hopefully it will serve you for future phones but dont hold your breath.

  • Using Ipod Nano 3rd generation with car kit

Just a simple question... I recently got an 8GB Ipod Nano... want to play it in my car with the Belkin car kit. Even with the volume turned up at max on my ipod I still have to turn up my cd player volume in the car high - is this normal? Also, is FM the best frequency? Confused... just want good quality listening. Thanks

Others have asked this, and the answer I've always seen is no.

  • IPhone 4S not working with TomTom Car Kit

    Hi,
I have the TomTom car kit for 3GS and have just upgraded to iPhone 4S.
I have one of the iPhone 4 adaptors from TomTom for the car kit, but even with this on, and trying some of the other suggestions online about a strip of velcro, I cannot get the cradle and the iPhone 4S to work together.
Has anyone with a 4S managed to use it with the car kit?
    Thanks,
    Graz.

    Hi All
    Right, this is what worked for me;
I had a iPhone 4 running ios 5 and all was fine. Since upgrading my to 4s my TomTom car kit wouldnt regognise the new phone.
Remove the iPhone 4 adapter (retangular stick on thing that comes with the kit specifically for the iphone 4)
turn it over so it is facing the wrong way. You should still have enough stick left behind on the kit itself to stick on again - must be the wrong way around!!
    Job done!!
    Works a treat

  • Car Kit compatibility with the Zen To

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but will the Creative Cassette Car Kit (here) work with my Zen Touch?
And if not: is there any other product or way out there that allows me to hook up my Zen Touch to my car? I only have a cassette and radio, no CD player, so I'm really looking for a way to hook up my mp3 player. =/

Yes, it'll work with the Touch.

  • Compatibility with Car Kit (CD-IB100 II Adapter- Pioneer)

Hi, ive recently purchased a new ipod nano but ive been disappointed to find that it is not compatible with my car kit adapter, however the car kit is compatible with previous versions of the ipod.
Can anyone advise if there is a possiblity of a compatibility connector that can be purchased to resolve these issues?
    Regards
    http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/25/38/301/CD-IB100%20II/specs.html

I use the same adapter, had the same issue with my iPhone.
The adapter is using the old way of charging which is the Firewire pins but all iPods from about 2007 all charge with the USB pins only.
I did a search on the web and found a little converter you plug between the iPod and the cable which enables charging. There are different versions if you search, some also remove the not compatible message from the screen.

  • Car kit automatic A2DP connection

I'm not entirely sure if this is a problem on my phone, or with the car kit, but I figured if I post on both ends, someone might know the answer.
With my N95 and N97, as soon as I turn on my car (equipped with Nokia CK-100), I automatically get connected to BT HFP and A2DP profiles.  The car kit will tell me, "Phone connected."  A second later, "Player connected."  With the N8, the car kit will only connect to just the phone automatically.  For the player to connect while the car is on, I have to open up the music player and play a song, which will then force N8 to make the A2DP connection.  So when that happens, you hear a 1.5 second message saying, "Player connected" followed by music that is already 2 to 3 seconds into the song.  I thought it was perhaps the Car Kit getting full with the list of paired devices (memory is for 8 pairings), but clearing the list doesn't help.  I thought it was the Car Kit firmware, so I upgraded it to 4.401, no luck.  Then when I paired my old N97 and N95, both HFP and A2DP connections were made automatically when I boot up my car as expected!  But not the N8.
Problem with the Car Kit, or problem with S^3?

The N8 on PR1 is still not a good excuse for the many bugs that it has.  It's just unimaginable that something that worked solidly with S60v3 and S60v5 and suddenly with the improved Symbian OS a mature and functional feature suddenly has a bug?  I just don't understand how that could've made it into the N8.  Is it the OS?  Or is it the BT chipset?  In either case, quality control got missed.
Thanks, though, for letting me know that I'm not the only one to experience this.  I'll stop trying to fix this as this is a problem outside of my control.

  • Cover that will work on touch while using tomtom car kit

    Hi,
JUst got a Tomtom car kit, and trying to find if there is a cover that will fit the touch while its in the tomtom dock, as don't really want to have to keep taking my cover of every time I want to use the tomtom.
    thanks
    Mark

    Hi illaass,
I tried the suggestions and they do work for Tom Tom car kit.
I had to close the car kit application and restart it until it showed as docked but then worked fine in navfree.
I also disabled wifi on the iPod touch so that it had to use gps
I have now purchased uk Ireland tomtom application.
The palm Bluetooth GPS does not appear in the devices list still though.
Are there any applications that can be bought to support this as car kit is not any good when on foot?
I do have a USB power pack but that means carrying power pack and car kit with iPod docked in it.

  • Cannot connect to bluetooth car kit - is invisible

For some time Blackberry 8100 under OS 4.2 functioned fine with Audi bluetooth car kit.
Now with a new Blackberry 8110 under OS 4.3 the same car is not detected.
Other phones and printer can be connected to OK by bluetooth.
Wondering if the car has a problem a connection was successfully made with another phone.
    Please can anyone help?
    Merci.
    Pem

That is sometimes the case if you want to download your contacts to the car. No problems when using it purely a handsfree.
Personally I have never had to use any software and all my N Series phones including my current N96 have always connected to car kits. Sometimes it does take a few attempts before it downloads all the contacts but that's it.

  • E90 Car kit recommendation

Can anyone give their feedback on a carkit for use with an E90? I do not have the chance to try one out before buying.
I have seen pages that say the recommendation is a CK-15W, 616 or CK-20. The Main Nokia website now does not show any car solutions for the E90.
The Nokia 616 page says it is not compatible with the E90.
The CK-20 page says it is not compatible with the E90.
The CK-15W page says it is not compatible with the E90.
Reading the manual for the CK-15W, it seems that it only shows the recent calls made using the CK-15. It also seems to have it's own contacts list, rather than just displaying the one in the phone!
Do any of them just work like a cabled kit? You use the phone kaypad and display, but it uses bluetooth to detect a call, mute the stereo and has external mic and speaker. Charging the phone would be good, as would making sure that the screen stays on (no screen-saver or keypad lock)
    Thanks

Has no-one managed to get a car-kit to work with an E90? I can't believe that a 'communicator' and 'enterprise' phone cannot be used with a car kit!!
I spoke to Carphone warehouse in the UK, and they admitted that they have had a number of complaints of incompatibility with the Nokia car kits and now won't fit them and could only suggest a unit that pretends to be a bluetooth headset; but this doesn't give car kit functionality.
I can't even seem to turn off the screen saver so that I can see the phone display when the phone is in a cradle.

  • Best car kit

I'm about to buy an E51 phone and would be grateful for advice about the best car kit to go with it. The main choices appear to be the CK-7W, CK-15W and CK-20W.
The features that are most important to me are:
    - Call quality including noise suppression
    - Ease of use when driving
    - Integration with car stereo especially mute finction and preferably using existing speakers
    - Ability to charge phone in attached cradle
The ability to plug an external audio player into the 20W via 8mm headphone plug sounds useful - how good is the sound quality?
Sorry if this is a newbie question - I'm happy to be directed to previous discussions but couldn't find much by searching the forum.

    Thanks Danny,
I'm curious as to why using a pop port connection would be a safety issue? Surely once the phone is plugged in and sat in a cubby hole, it's no different to using the kit with bluetooth?
I think I've come to the conclusion that I may as well buy any bluetooth handsfree and a separate charger. Most of the time I will not need to charge the phone in the car, but I need the facility just in case. At least with a separate charger, I will be able to use it in a different car.
I could buy a CK-1W which appears to be exacly the same as the 7W apart from the pop-port snd cheaper. Otherwise there are numerous universal handsfree kits available. Any suggestions?
    Nick.

  • 6300 Hands Free Car Kit

According to the data on the above phone's product technical specification page, when you use the compare facility on this website, it says that the Nokia Wireless Plug-in Car Handsfree HF-33W is recommended. However, if you look at the compatible products for the car kit the 6300 is not on the list. Can anyone advise which car kit will work with this phone?

Yes, the compatibility lists are not always perfect. The Nokia 6300 has Bluetooth Handsfree profile, so if you are looking for a good handsfree kit I recommend the Nokia CK-7W, that works with no problems and should be the most simple and cost effective solution.
