Power info. inconsistent

Sometimes, my PowerBook's battery doesn't last very long (10-15 min.). It doesn't show a low battery warning any more. Every time, when I check, the info. under "Power" are different. The 'condition' has always been "good", but charge numbers and cycle counts are different. For instance, the Full charge capacity were around 3000 or 1200. The cycle count used to be 320.
I just calibrated it and I got the following info.
Charge Information:

Second issue is after the battery was drained then recharged, when I power on, the following message would come on:
"Your computer's clock is set to a date before March 24th, 2001. This may cause some applications to behave erratically..." When I check the 'Date and Time', the clock is set correctly.
The keys don't illuminate any more.
Do these problems all related to the battery?
Has anyone used Rayovac RAYLT1024 on PowerBook G4 before?
I would appreciate some advise. Thanks.

thanks for the quick reply !
I saw an article in the local newspaper's Business section regarding Batteries Plus company and its retail stores. On their website, it listed RAYLT1024 as the battery as fit replacement for my PowerBook. Do you have any comments about this Rayov battery?

  • USB 6008 power up inconsistent

    Hi,
Now that I have read enough about the DAQ 6008 and know that the DIOs power up to 5V when it is connected to the USB. And, knowing that , I have worked around it. But, here is my problem. very random behavior occurs in that few channels dont power up and I disconnect the DAQ and connect it back; they do. This random behavior is affecting my system. Should I trust the internal pull up or should I myself pull the voltage up to 5V using an external 4.7k resistor?
    Thanks!
    V
I may not be perfect, but I'm all I got!

    Hi VeeJay,
I just looked through the USB-6008 user manual and specifications (found here) on page 23 it states:
At system startup and reset, the hardware sets all DIO lines to
high-impedance inputs. The DAQ device does not drive the signal high
or low. Each line has a weak pull-up resistor connected to it.
This means that the default power up start would have each of the digital lines set for input and pulled up to 5V internally.  You shouldn't need an external pull up, though you can see on page 22 you can definitely add one.
My question is what ports are not at 5V when you plug the 6008 in the first time? Also, is it possible that some of the lines you have connected to the digital ports are driving the lines low?  Do you notice this behavior when you don't have anything connected to the 6008?

  • Cisco phones won't power up

I have cisco 6945 phones connected to two Catalyst 6513-E switches in a VSS pair.
This morning, 3 phones went offline on one of the blades on switch two (they went dark).
When I do a show module, everything checks out fine --no errors on the blade. Diagnostics pass. If I connect a laptop to the ports having the issue, the system connects, fetches an IP and everything is fine. Tried different phones, cabled in directly, etc. -phones won't power.

    What could be happening here?

Just want to put it out there that I am no "expert" on what a 61XX line card can/can't do.
Can you try to run a TDR on the line?
    1.  Command:  test cable tdr interface g2/2/15;
    2.  Wait for 61 seconds for the test to run;
    3.  Command:  sh  cable tdr interface g2/2/15; and
    4.  Post the output to #3.
NOTE:  Yes, it takes 61 seconds to run a TDR on a chassis-based system.

  • RV082 power supply query?

Can we buy the primary power supply as spare for router “RV082”? Also, does this support redundant power supply?
Do we have a doc on accessories for Cisco small business?

Hi Amiller, there is no toggle switch. It supports both. So long as you have a correct power adapter/source should not be any problems.
Here's the datasheet for more power info

  • Basic Battery State Info - iPhone

Ive been looking (unsuccessfully) for basic power info exposed by the API. Not looking for anything like advanced power management (ala full blown IOKit) just simple readonly values for approx percentage battery remaining and if device is plugged in (on AC/DC) or not.
    Any ideas?
In the event that such a thing does not exist (in actuality or via "published" APIs) and Apple Dev is monitoring this forum - Please, please, please give us basic power info.
We're wanting to be "good citizens" regarding power usage. Being able to selectivly scale back usage and use alt methods at different power levels is very important to deliver on that.
Something like (BOOL)[UIDevice currentDevice].isPluggedIn and (Float32)[UIDevice currentDevice].powerRemaining would open up a lot of doors for conditional power friendly apps.

have u posted this interesting feature request to bug reporter ?
it is probably the best place to do it

  • Massive Battery Drain After Mavericks Upgrade on 11" 2013 MacBook Air?

I got my Air about month before Mavericks came out and the battery life was amazing on it. I was easily getting 14-10 hours of life using Chrome and Air Mail App, along with Power Point and MS Word. After the upgrade to Mavericks, it was slow but I started to notice that my battery life during classes was draining so much faster than before and I had not added anything 3rd party software, just the upgrade. I am now down to about 3.5 - 4.5 hours of battery life doing about the same things as before the upgrade. I did a couple of apps and I added (Sims 3 game). However, I have yet to touch it because of the diminished battery life.
I have included a copy of my Etrecheck, can somone take a look and let me know if you think I need to clean something off?
I did do the SMC reset and that seemed to to give a little juice (like putting new tire on your car but still not where it was before the Mavericks upgrade) as I am up to about 6 hours of battery life after the SMC reset.
Please let me know what other information you might need from me that would help and thank you so much!!

    Hi Lex,
Not sure why but I had a hard time finding all of the related files to get rid of Origin. But I think I finally got them. I just uninstalled Flash and Chrome. I don't like Safari but all well. I suppose I can deal with it it until Apple fixes this battery issue and then maybe I can go back to Chrome. Safari isn't too happy with certain websites, under the Preferences/Security there is an error message that reads "Google Safe Browsing Service Is Not Available. Has not been updated in 8 days."
Haven't noticed a change in battery since doing all of this so let me know if it will take a couple of days to reset. Or if you see anything else that I can do to help. Thank!

  • Help with my MBP (Late-2011) battery life~

    Hi All,
I just bought this MBP like 2 weeks ago & I found that the battery life is a little short.
Only lasted 3.5-4 hours. In saying that, I'm not doing anything extreme. Only browsing the web and doing some homework on Words & Excel.
If I happened to go on youtube or some video streaming site, the battery life only go as far as 2-2.5 hours.
Is this normal? I'm new to MBP & I'm loving every single bit of it.
I read the description on the website says the battery can last up to 7 hours.
I was wondering if my battery faulty or something? or is it just me?
I have turned down the brightness of the screen to about 40% and keyboard light is at about 20% (just estimate).
Turned off my bluetooth device. What else can I do to make the battery life last longer??
Any tips anyone can share with me?
    Thanks in advance !!

If you have AppleCare, they will mail you the battery.
If you do not have AppleCare, call Customer Relations 1-800-767-2775. See what they can do for you. CS will determine if your model MBP qualifies for a free battery.
An Apple Store is not the only place to go. There may be an AASP closer. See KB Article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304398 How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP)
Another thing you can do is to go to System Profiler. Copy/Paste the Power info here. *Do not post any serial numbers.*

Now, based on this and the age of my machine (2-3 years old), I would say that I am probably at the end of my cycle count for the life of the battery, right?
I have read other posts about similar issues (battery at 100%, then very quickly down to 60-80%, then poof - shutdown). I also read about someone who "worked around this" by putting the computer to sleep while plugged in, unplugging the machine, and letting it sit for about 4 days. Fully recharging, and things seemed pretty good. Based on the info above, think it is worth a try?
    BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE!
I have also been getting a buzzing/humming at start up, and sometimes while working. Took it to the Genius bar, they seemed to think it was one of the fans, so replaced that to the tune of $108. Sound eventually came back as battery performance became worse... related issue?

Your cycle count is over the limit. The remaining battery full charge/remaining capacity should reasonably be around 6000mAh. Get a new battery. zoz

  • Why does my Macbook Pro battery not even last me 2 hours even just browsing the internet or typing a document?

So my Macbook Pro 2011 that isn't even a year and a half old only lasts me about 2 hours of battery.  My brightness is set to only 4 notches most of the time and I mostly have google chrome and itunes or spotify open when I am using it.  I have to charge it about 2 times a day.  My old original unibody macbook lasted a longer time than this.  Today, my fans were running faster than normal and my battery drained 20 percent in less than a half hour.

it was using 53.5% of you CPU. Which if used over a long period of time, a lot of battery will be used and it will drain quickly, try figuring out what this is and use it less often, or try deleting it if it is not important.

  • Battery doesn't sleep - goes straight to shutdown at 60-80%

    Hi
I don't often unplug my MBP, but when I do it never seems to give a battery warning or goes to sleep. When it hits anything from 60-80% battery left it just shuts down.
The indicators on the back of the battery seem to correspond to the percentage shown on the screen.
I have read about recalibrating my battery, but since it won't sleep, I can't figure out how to make that happen.

I have the same problem, my laptop shutsdown isnted of slepp mode, even when fully charged and plugged in. Now again the meter will not show a full charge, though yesterday it did. This only started within the last week, give or take a few days, and the shutdowns are increasing. The battery update page advises to download and install 1.2 firmware for that battery when the current versions for 15" and 17" is 1.3 and the replacement program which was primarily for 15" Pro's only closed on 7/25. Based on most of the post I have read, this issue has been creeping up the last few days in newer and older batteries, and mostly in systems that are at least 1 year old. Makes me wonder if the rumors of the programmed "self-destruct' are true. Any case this is my power info (note that over the 4 points I pulled info for, the mA decrease as the battery charges, is this normal? The mv increase, but the mA decrease, though the mAH increase??)-

  • Why won't my battery charge?

    Hey guys,
Overnight my mac air battery went from charging no problem to not charging at all, stating it's fully-charged even though it's on 96%, and now not charging stating "Condition: Replace Soon".
I'd understand if it was a really old battery, but it's only been through around 1000 cycles.
    Here is the power info:

Can anyone tell me if I really need to replace the battery so soon or if it's a system error?
Thank you guys, I really appreciate your help

ONLY?   it says 1074.    Thats like saying "She was only 107 years old"
Yes, time for a new battery.
I'd understand if it was a really old battery,
    It is, use wise.
no system error, your battery is "end of life" and gone to the great beyond.
Make an appt. for battery replacement.

  • Removing Item from Finder Menu

How do I remove an item from the Finder Menu? I have the clock, airport-thingy, and power info. There is also a character palette item. displayed as an american flag. How do I remove the character palette item from the menu?

    Hi
Hold down the cmd key and drag it off. This should
    work for most menubar icons.

Thank you very much! That did the trick. There is a lot I don't know. I'm glad there are people like you out there.

  • Suddenly shuts off, turns on (completely reboots)

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro (15-inch, early 2011).  My computer suddenly shuts off (fully charged, plugged in, no warnings of low battery or anything).  When I turn it back on, it reboots completely (as opposed to restoring my session like it usually does if the battery dies) and says the battery is at 0%.  This has happened a few times now.  Does anybody know what it is or how to fix it?  Thanks in advance!

  • USB Mixer Input signal too weak to record

I have a Peavey USB mixer plugged directly into my macbook. I can play anything at any volume from the computer to the board.. IE can use itunes etc... The problem is I can't get enough signal from the board to Garage Band. I had my drummer all mic'd up and it would play through the pa but when it reached the track in GB the input level never went past about 30-40 percent. I checked the record out level on the board and even at full blast it doesn't improve. I have all the right inputs selected in GB and on the computers preferences... I'm stumped. I'd appreciate any help I can get...
    Thanks

There seems to be issues (Discussed In Apple Support as well on other sites discussing USB 2.0 and power
with Apples USB 2.0 putting out (capacity of 500v and 5ma ) The AC power supply is a great question as well
check Apple Support and USB Help and OSX Help and USB , I came across the above power info
(anf You can check via System Profiler and check USB ports
It noted as well first plugged in may get more than 500v and 5ma and also a issue with USB 2.0 with aluminum body MacBook Pros Macbook (unibody aluminum( aluminum cased Imacs and even aluminum cased wired keyboards (this is in Apple Support and on M-Audio Forums
(though their forums have so many threads per Mac OS System , use search or get a list
(I have a M-Audio Radium 49 MIDI Keyboard and it had similiar data as Apple Support
(which was all news to me!)
    Best of Luck
Both Apple Support and M-Audio recomended a Powered USB 2.0 HUB (plug in type to AC outlet) not a Hub to expand USB ports (odd) and on Macrummors.com (could be .net)
then Forums>Special Interests>Digital Audio.. USB 2.0 powered Hubs have come up alot (even getting Audio Interfaces to work with current Macs (and a Universal Binary Driver) when
no Snow Leopard Driver was available and the certain company begins with a T ends with a m
said that product was discontinued as no SNow Leopard Drivers were available and suggested alternate A/I (any more I would not (Personally I mean) not buy anything that does not have a AC-or DC adapter and rely pnly on USB 2.0 power (its odd and I had one and it worked with OSX 10.3.9 and USB 2.0 (it had no option for external power) and people got it working with a Powered USB 2.0 Hub and with SNow Leopard (I am avoiding that route for now) and will buy a A/I with a Extrenal Power supply as back up (though a Belkin USB 2.0 powered Hub depending on ports is $40.00 or less, Griffin technology makes them plus others (check OWC Other World Computing) doing sales online as macsales.com (I think) type
in OWC and Mac they have very informative info-articles, adapters atc
Griffintechnology.com is great resource as well (with a focus on Ipods ) www.smalldog.com
a Mac reseller in Vermont is great also I get their weekly newsleters one on their onlinE-REal store and Tech-Tails, they helped me out once as I emailed them one odd scenario and bingo, they replied, no cost and it worked !
    Best Of Luck
I do think it may be power from USB 2.0 ? my guess though
