Power jack replacement on Satellite L500

Hi
I have laptop
Toshiba Satellite L500-11V
part no: PSLJOE-OOROOJEN
The power jack is broken. I dont know about soldering. If i buy power jack with cable can it be installed in this laptop as seller mentioned that soldering is not needed.
Thanks

Of course the DC jack can be replaced but its a matter of notebook experience
Would not recommend doing this if you dont know hwo to do that exactly and if you have not done this in the past
If I would be you, I would spend bucks in order to get this fixed

  • DC Power Jack part number Satellite M105-S3041

    Greetings,
My Toshiba laptop (M105-S3041) seems to be having a lot of problems with the power.
My OEM Power adapter broke and i bought a replacement (non OEM) from ebay.
That has been working fine till about a month ago I started having problems charging my laptop.
I believe the power adapter is working fine (as the light on the adapter lights up) and I may be having a problem with my power jack.
I have been searching for the model / part number for the DC Power jack without any luck. Would someone please help me out with the correct model/part number, where to buy and the approximate price for it?
Secondly, does anyone know if the power jack is plug 'n' play or does it need to be soldered into the mother board?
I have been pretty good at dis-assembling the laptop and putting it back together (except for one damn screw that does not agree to come off, I will probably saw that guy off).
    Thank
    Ajay

    Hi
Im not quite sure but I think the DC-in socket is soldered to motherboard.
In such case it would be tricky procedure in order to replace this.
But it seems that you are not 100% sure that this part malfunctions.
It could be also the AC adaptor issue as you said, you bought an not original part.
Its just a suggestion but I would try to replace the AC adaptor with an Toshiba recommended one before trying to disassemble the notebook and to replace the DC-in socket.
PS: All parts can be ordered from local Toshiba ASP!

  • ThinkPad W530 Power Jack Replacement

Hi, I'm trying to replace the power jack in my W530 and I've run into a little problem-- I can't actually get the power jack out of the housing. I've disassembled the laptop to the point where I can replace it, but I can't actually get the jack itself out, it seems to be glued in to the extreme. Does snyone have any tips on how to get the power jack out? I already have the replacement part ready to go. Thanks in advance.

Alright, laptop is working! However, it says the battery isn't charging-- either in the system tray or the LED indicators on the outside. However, as long as it's plugged in, I can use my laptop and the battery won't decrease. Any ideas for what the problem might be?   EDIT: Never mind, it died on me again. A little frustrating.

  • DV7-1279wm Power Jack replacement?

    hello
i own a DV7-1279wm laptop, and the power jack is destroyed, and its out of warranty. I was wondering 2 things.
    1. is there a manual showing how to dissasemble the DV7-1279wm
    2. does anyone know the replacement part # or could find a sutable replacement. i saw this in another post
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170498079008&ssPageName=STRK
and was wondering if this will work. thanks in advance!

Go to the Link below, type in you model number in the search box and then hit enter, when the page loads select Manuals, there should be a manual that shows you how to disassemble the Laptop.
    http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support_task.html
It requires good soldering skills to replace the DC jack on a motherboard, there are a few models that are not soldered to the motherboard, these are much easier to replace and HP does sell this type of assembly, just not the solder type, to get a solder type you will just have to google "dc jack" and you model number of the laptop to find one that may work.

  • Power Jack replacement

    Here's the problem I have...
The tip of the 1/8" mini power connector broke off inside my powerbook G4 power jack.
The laptop doesn't charge anymore because of this so not only do I need to replace my power adapter/converter but I need to somehow get the broken off tip out of my computer jack or replace it all together.
Question is, does anyone know if it's easy to replace that jack inside the laptop and where I can get one compatible with my machine?
    Thanks!

Is the piece of the connector still inside the jack?  Sometimes very delicate surgery can extract the broken piece with a needle nose pliers, but you need to use one hand, and make sure there are no magnetic qualities to the pliers.  Magnetism and electrical parts don't work well together!  Short of that, the actual replacement of the jack is complicated, but http://www.ifixit.com/ or http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ may have the necessary instructions and part info.

  • DC02000S800 cable replacement for Satellite L500-128

    Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a DC02000S800 cable because mine is broken. I get green colors on my screen etc. Does anyone know where I can find it for a reasonable price? If I have to buy it in a local shop, it's around 100 dollars. Much too much for such a cable.
    Thanks in advance

'They' are all the people at ebay. No one at ebay sells the cable I'm looking for.
Maybe i'm just going to buy it in a local store for an unrealistic price.
Is there anyone who can say me where I have to put the cable so it doesn't get broken again? how should the cable be led throug the notebook?

    Hi All,
The DC Power Jack on my Toshiba Satellite Pro M70 laptop has broken and my laptop is out of warrenty.....

    Thanks

Best address to order Toshiba parts is nearest Toshiba authorized service provider.
You can also order this part in some hardware online store in your country. I don't know where do you live and cannot say which store is best for you.
One interesting place to find new and used hardware parts is eBay. check eBay for your country and I am sure you will find DC power jack there, and if not you can find out which company offer such parts and try to order one for you.
Maybe you can also find defective motherborard for your notebook (defective graphic or something else) but be able to use this small part for you.
Check all these options and find out where you can get it for good price.

  • Replacing the DC Power jack board. HELP

So my computer has gone kaput after a trusty 2+ years in the family (we bought it used). Based on posts I've read and my record for devouring power adapters, I'm hoping and praying the Power Jack has come loose.
I bought the part...everywhere I go I read this is easy to replace (in comparison to logic boards, at least) but no one says how....
My father and I have opened up towers together, but never a laptop. Could someone please give me basic instructions, or direct me to a set? I'm leaving for school in August, and if my computer isn't fixed I'll be in deep. Thanks.

Hi, you don't say what model iBook you've got but go to:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/ select your model then select DC in Board from the left hand collumn. Follow the step-by-step instructions. Definitely much easier than a logic board...
    Good luck,

  • Satellite L500 and issues with wireless connection

    Hello people
Ill just throw my problem out there.
First of all my details and info which may help you help me!
Satellite L500 running windows 7 (note: same issues when Vista was installed)
Latest wireless drivers as well as latest drivers for everything else.
My wireless router is a billion voip enabled router 7000 series its quite a good one for when I got it about 2 yrs ago and works fine.
Basically the problem is the wireless on my Satellite L500 keeps dropping out. Im no more than 20m away at most, right now Im 10m away with 1 wall in the way. I tried to get to a website and it says connection dropped out or unable to find host.
However the other laptops in the same room same spot at the same time has no issues at all. Never has.
As soon as I go into the same room as my router it works again. Sometimes works if I just stand on the opposite wall.
So basically Im thinking my wireless card in my laptop is either faulty or just no good?
Can u replace the wireless card with a different one? Maybe the Toshiba ones are just no good? Ive read so many problems with these wireless cards in Toshibas...
Anyone have any ideas? Have I missed any info u need? Ill repost again in a day or so with the types of wireless devices in each laptop.

    Hi
At the moment I doubt that your WLAN card is faulty. Before you exchange it you should also update your BIOS and not only the WLAN card driver. Both updates you should download from the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
I had a similar issue with my Toshiba notebook and WLAN connection. The problem was the WLAN power saving mode in Windows Power Management. There you can also choose a power saving mode for the WLAN card. Disable it and choose Maximum Performance.

  • Strange issue with touchpad on Satellite L500-19Z

I have a one month old Satellite L500-19Z operating on Windows 7 64bit.
Whilst using it to edit some photographs, it began to behave strangely. It was as if someone was rapidly depressing the mouse left button. I was unable to exit any program or use the Start Menu to reboot.
After disconnecting power, and battery, I started it in Safe Mode, but the problem was still there. If I hovered over any icon it brought the window up repeatedly. By disabling the touchpad using Fn+F9, I was able to use a graphic tablet to re-boot and it works as normal. I am reluctant to use the System Recovery or the Recovery Discs that I created when I bought it due to the number of third party programs that I would lose.
Has anyone experienced this problem please? What do I do to enable the touchpad to see if it is now working properly?
    Many thanks

    > Disappointingly there was no paperwork with the returned item to advised what work had been carried out, ie replacement of hardware, drive or software or advising how to open an account.
So why you dont get in contact with the ASP who repaired the notebook and why you dont ask what has been done? Only these guys can provide more details
    > When it was returned the operating system was reconfigured so that I could not open it as administrator, had to open new user account. According to Technical Support, the factory use a different recovery disc! I asked if I should use my recovery discs again, but was told it was not necessary. However, now that I have spent several hours downloading folders and installing various programs, I find that Windows 7 is working differently. In particular, no thumbnail pictures are appearing in various picture files, only the picture icon. Same with preview pane, only an icon appears. Any advice, would be welcome.
Of course you can use the own recovery disk and could reinstall the OS again.
    But I think its just an matter of Win 7 configuration;

  • Battery is not recognized properly on Satellite L500

    Hi all.
Ive Toshiba Satellite L500 with Windows7. Two days ago a red cross appeared over battery indicator and notice: 30% available, plugged in, not charging. Consider replacing your battery.
And when I plug off AC laptop shuts down. I replaced the battery but the same action when plug out AC the computer shuts down. Run some antivirus programs no results. I installed a battery tester who told me that battery is not installed. Run SCF program not bad files.
Tried with power manager no results.
My battery works well on other similar laptop.
    Pls help !!!

    Hi mate
Are you using the latest BIOS?
    Please check this!
You can access the BIOS pressing F2 at the beginning.
There you will find the BIOS version.
Compare this with the available BIOS on Toshiba page and update it if necessary.
I cannot say for sure that this would solve you problem but its definitely worth a try.

  • Satellite L500 - How to show external display after closing lid?

    Hi,
i`m using the Satellite L500-120 Notebook, and before installing Windows 7 the laptop had a very comfortable function, when i applied an external display.
When i closed the lid of my notebook, the desktop was shown on my external display (with the native resolution of the external display), so i didn`t have to
switch anything at the Control Panel. In Windows 7, i`m missing this function. I already tried to use the Control Panel, but there are no settings, which fits
with the earlier ones. I can duplicate the display, in order to see my desktop screen at my external display, but with the notebook resolution of 1366 x 768.
If i extend the displays, then there is only the background image at the external display, but this time with the native resolution.
So my question is, how to conifgure Windows to recognize that i closed the lid, and that the desktop screen has to be shown on my external display?
Or do i have to install one of the Toshiba applications, which i had before, that realized this function?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi
Im not a Windows 7 user because I will wait until it will be released offical but I hope I can help you a little bit:
First of all in Power Management you can choose the action what happens if you close the Lid (e. g. sleep, turn off, etc.). This action should be disabled because otherwise the notebook will shut down or something else.
Then I think you have to install the display driver for your notebook. You can try the Vista driver because the most of them are work on Windows 7.
Then you should be able to set the correct screen resolution for external monitor.
A working display driver is important for clone or extends monitors so check this!!

  • Hp mini 1035nr dc power jack issue

HP Mini 1035NR DC power jack is no longer making a connection to the power tip. Voltage is consistent on the tip itself. Did not help that my wife has been using this for some time by wiggling the power plug into the DC jack on the side of the netbook and it would "eventually" make a connection. It had been steadily deteriorating over the recent months, and now I can't get a connection at all, the battery has been replaced months ago and it will hold a charge for 2-3 hours easily. But now I'm certain it's the DC power jack within the base of the unit. The power light immediately next to the DC jack no longer lights, that is what we would use as an indicator to know we "jiggled" the tip enough to make a connection.
So my question is has anyone here popped open the unit to replace the power jack? If I pop it open will I have the ability to maybe access the connectors inside the jack to attempt bending them back into place? Must the whole jack be replaced? Is it soldered in place or possibly just a wire connector that I can easily plug/unplug? I did try looking into the jack from the outside with a strong lens and could see the metal tab for the negative voltage (external part of the power tip) connection within the DC jack but could not seem to bend it upwards when I delicately tried with a thin tweezer tip.
Don't want to risk popping this open if when I get inside it's not easily replaced. I'm OK plugging/unplugging, but taking a soldering iron to the board is pushing the envelope. Or has anyone found a slightly fatter power tip that works in this unit from some other power brick that might get a better connection?

It will need to be soldered if you do decide to replace it yourself. My suggestion would be to take it to a computer repair shop or contact HP support to see how much their out-of-warranty repair would be. The number if you are inside the US is 1-800-474-6836.
