Power management problems! Toshiba L655 and the battery is recognised

Ok I finally got the battery in this thing to be recognised so that power management will allow me to set how to handle power setting when running off of the battery.
I'm running KDE 4.8.2
Here's the problem that I'm having now, when ever I'm running AC everything is fine and power management seems to work perfectly, however when I unplug the power adaptor and run from battery every thing works as expected until I plug the power adaptor back in. When plugging the power adaptor back in it appears as though the on AC profile setting never take effect, like its stuck on the running on battery profile instead of switching back to running on AC as expected!
Any help in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Yes I do. It's one of things I did trying to solve the Toshiba acpi problem where linux claims there's no battery present.

Take it back to the Apple Store for repair since it's still in warranty.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I got my iphone 5 3 weeks ago and the battery life is very short. It drains out very fast. Does anyone know if it's a problem with the iOS or with my phone? Because I'm a bit concerned

I recieved my iPhone 5 3 weeks ago and the battery life completely *****! After doing a few things and maybe using it for about 30 minutes the phone start overheating like crazy then the battery starts dropping very fast. Does anyone know if it's a problem with the iOS or with my phone? And is anyone else expierenceing these problems?

It sounds like you have an app that is incorrectly continuously using data and power... from normal use the phone should NOT be getting that warm... only constant video playing via data like Netflix for example would result in that...
I'd say that you should remove all apps in the recent app tray... tunr phone off... then once you power back on...
Hold BOTH home and sleep wake buttons together until you see a white apple symbol... then release both buttons...
This will ensure you have no apps running...
I've experienced a hang up with mail while out and about that has resulted in this on my iPhone as well... Once I performed these steps it was fixed... it seemed like it got stuck and that's what caused the warm phone and battery drain...
I notived that when it gets stuck (mail app that is) I will see the text connecting at the bottom and it never changes to "updated" like it should... this is my trigger that it's gotten stuck.
Have not really figured out what causes mail app to get stuck yet...

  • My mac book pro is on, but the power light indicator is not on, the battery charging light is not on, and the computer is making a whirring sound, what is wrong

My mac book pro is working, but my power light is off, the battery power light is not on and my battery power symbol is a black x. My computer is making a whirring sound sort of like it does when  loading a CD. I had a hard time getting the computer to turn on, used the command, option, P and R buttons to turn in on. I have tried restart, but I still get the whirring sound. What is wrong and what do I do?

Didn't do an SMC reset. But in attempting to find out about what that was I found some things to try first. Also, when I went to system preferences - hardware, I couldn't find anything regarding power and battery info. Finally, I unplugged the computer for several seconds, then shut it down, removed the battery, put the battery back in. Then I turned on the computer, plugged in the power cord. Problem solved- no whirring sound, battery charging light is on.
Thanks for getting me in the right direction.

I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store because of the shock issue. I doubt it was caused by the update.

My Macbook Pro shut down because the battery power ran out. Now I cannot start it and the battery will not charge. Only one green battery charge light lights up and blinks on the left side. I am running Lion. How do I get this to charge and turn on? Thanks

If your model Macbook Pro is the calibrating model, let the battery calibrate.
If not, and are still under warrant or have Apple Care, give them a call and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Battery/power management problem?:

This is something a bit odd that has just happened to me. I have a MBP (1.83 CD) with 1 Gig of memory. I usually leave the computer on, but sleeping while it is charging, but use it on battery. Today, I unplugged it and started using it for light duty stuff, like using MT-Newswatcher to read Usenet. I noticed that it felt as if it was running pretty hot (CoreDuo temp, which I find to be rather untrustworthy, was reading about 70 deg C), and I also noticed that the battery seemed to discharging at an unusually fast rate. Normally, I will get over 3 hrs on a charge, but it the time remaining on this charge was staying near 2 hrs with a full charge (99%). One other unusual thing is that I have a widget called iStat Pro, which I find very useful in telling me about how the computer is running. However, today, it wouldn't stay running, and kept quitting. I decided to do a restart, and the computer is now running much cooler, iStat Pro is telling me that it is running at 49 dec C (It has been cooling down from about 70 deg C-CoreDuo Temp still reads 70),a nd teh battery indicator now gives a battery life of >3 hrs, with 77% charge left. My question is, what happened? Why was the computer running so hot before the restart. Is there a chance I could be edging towards some sort of hardware problem. I had the battery replaced about 6 months ago, under the battery replacement program.
Any ideas from the experts out there?
    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't worry too much, it was probably just a rouge process that got greedy. What did you have running at the time?
Next time something like that happens quickly open up terminal and type top and hit enter. This will give you a list of all the running processes and what percentage of CPU they are using etc (like istat... well actually istat steals it from top :p) anyway you can see whats eating your cpu from there.
The kernel (the boss of the system) should be using hardly anything, and be no were near the top of the list, if it is then it's probably dodgy kexts (drivers) which you may have installed for 3rd party devices, as these have to share CPU space with the kernel (which is why they can cause kernel panics if they are badly written)

  • GNOME power management doesn't notice my laptop battery discharge

I can use my laptop for an hour (AC unplugged), and the battery is still at 98% or so, according to the GNOME battery applet.
It's a Toshiba U400-124, with 4 cell (I think) battery, so only lasts about 2-2.5 hours anyway.
The power stats program in GNOME shows my battery charging OK, but then gives weird stats like 'time until charged: 3.6minutes', just after I've plugged it in.
    (Suspend and hibernate work fine.)
Has anyone seen a similar thing before? Or can anyone point me in the right direction to see where the problem is?
I have no idea where to start looking.
    Thanks.

Also as a really quick fix for this until you solve the problem (I'm having the same issue) you can right click on the top panel and select 'Add to panel' and select battery charge monitor. For me this added another battery monitor which as far as I can tell is reporting the correct info (something else than 100%).
Good luck and have a nice day.

  • Power management problems

A couple of weeks ago I installed quite a few of the patches in the recommended list.
Since then, I get the following message repeated continually in the console window:
    DPMSSet: Invalid argument
    Power management problems
I'm runnig solaris 8 on a ultra 5. I looked in the power.config file and in the startup scripts, but couldn't find any reference to "DPMSSet." Any ideas on the cause and solution of the message?
I never use the powerd daemon, so killing the process seems to eliminate the messages.

  • KT4 Ultra APCI power management problems

After I boot I must go into Win98 power management propertys and apply to get any power management functions to work. And then all I can get is monitor blank and hardrive power down. Unit will not go into suspend.
If I use the suspend feature in power down the unit will go into suspend (Susp to ram) but all the fans keep running. When I come out of suspend, the system becomes unstable and quirky.
Can anyone help me get this running the way it should.

  • Why does my iPad Mini Retina Display battery drain so quickly? I will be playing some 3d games and it says the battery is 90% but I'll turn off and turn  in back on it about 30 minutes and the battery is only 70%. Why is the reading so inaccurate?

I will be playing some 3d games and it says the battery is 90% but I'll turn off and turn  in back on it about 30 minutes and the battery is only 70%. Why is the reading so inaccurate? I understand that 3d games on high brightness will drain my battery quickly, but why doesn't it tell be how low it is to begin with? The other night it said it was around 35% and I turned it on in the morning and it was only 3%?

Sorry there are some typos above, but you should be able to figure out what I'm asking. Let me know if you have tha same problem, know how to fix it, or know if apple is aware of the problem and is adressing it in a future update.

  • My Iphone 4 is very warm to the touch and the battery is not charging. Any suggestions on how to solve this without getting a new phone?

I plugged my iphone 4 in this morning, at the time it had a 20% battery.  In the last four hours the phone has begun to overheat and the battery appears to be between 2-3% charged, keeping in mind it has been plugged in four hours.  I unplugged the phone, let it rest for 10 min it was still warm.  I turned it off and it didn't cool down much in the 10 min it was off.  Turned it back on, plugged it in and still nothing has changed.  I have turned off all running apps through settings.  What can I do to save my phone?

Something may have gone amiss on your iPhone.
To attempt to correct this follow these steps:
Backup your iPhone using iTunes or iCloud.
Use iTunes to completely restore your iPhone as Factory new.
Monitor battery usage to see if it is normal. If not, you may have a hardware problem - if so, contact Apple support.
Restore your iPhone from your backup above.
Check battery usage to confirm that it is still normal.

  • Can't use WIFI and the battery consumption goes much faster

I can't use WIFI after my iphone4s was updated to ios6.0  and the battery consumption goes much faster, how to solve ?

This seems to be a problem relatet to the current versions of the app. After uninstalling Spotify I installed an older version, 2.8.0.1081, which worked perfectly with wifi. No newer versions seem to work so I hope there will be a fix soon. I've tried changing the UPnP as well as NAT filtering settings, but the newer versions of the app still wont work.
