Power manager always shows 97% battery remaining

Hi,
it always shows like that even though I plugged in AC adapter for hours. I tried to restart windows (Vista) but it's still the same.
Any suggestion?
Thanks!

optimise for lifespan usually don't ever allow the battery to charge to 100%, fully charged and fully depleted are the two states of the battery least want to be in. If you select always charge to 100% and start Charging at 96%, then your battery will go to 100%, but that mode can shorten your battery life by as much 20% or more depending on usage pattern (i have tried various modes in my different thinkpad laptops, so this is from personal experience).
I personally like to start charging say below 80 to 90 % and stop charging at 95%, but personal preference only.

  • My iPad 3 always shows 100% battery

    My iPad 3 always shows 100% battery and suddenly it gets off post complete discharge.

    First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Power manager doesn't get battery status upgrade. Embedded Compact 7

    Hello everybody!
    We are using custom Freescale MX53 based board.
    We are using FAKE battery driver as our battery driver base.
    Driver succesfully built and loaded by wec7 (linked with battdrvr_mdd.lib) and I see debug messages when toggling battery.
    But power manager applet knows nothing about my battery status.
    Here are functions we've implemented:
    BatteryPDDGetStatus
    BatteryPDDGetLevels
    BatteryPDDSupportsChangeNotification
    And in our charger interrupt handle thread we've got:
    LOCKBATTERY();
    BatteryAPIGetSystemPowerStatusEx2(&gBatteryContext.st, sizeof(gBatteryContext.st), TRUE);
    UNLOCKBATTERY();
    PowerPolicyNotify(PPN_POWERCHANGE, 0);
    We see in debug that
    BatteryAPIGetSystemPowerStatusEx2
    calling
    BatteryPDDGetStatus(PSYSTEM_POWER_STATUS_EX2 pstatus, PBOOL pfBatteriesChangedSinceLastCall)
    But nothing changing in power manager. It always shows that power supply connected and battery is charging. Even if
    pstatus->ACLineStatus = AC_LINE_ONLINE;
    pstatus->BatteryFlag = BATTERY_FLAG_NO_BATTERY;
    //or
    pstatus->ACLineStatus = AC_LINE_OFFLINE;
    pstatus->BatteryFlag = BATTERY_FLAG_CRITICAL;
    EDIT:
    Don't know why but can't get GetSystemPowerStatusEx2  from test app. It returns general error(31). And not calling my
    BatteryPDDGetStatus
    Where can be the problem?

    Are you sure you have the battery driver added from the catalog to the OS design?
    It is under Core OS Services->Battery Driver.
    Also you have to have the BSP battery driver added.

  • Power Manager Setting To Preserve Battery Life When Using A Docking Station

    I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 which is about 19 months old.  When at work, the computer is in a Lenovo docking station.  At the end of the day, it is removed and any further evening use is typically on the battery.
    Yesterday, the battery symbol in the tray at the bottom of the screen displayed a red X on it and indicated that there was an "error".  I presume from this that that battery is dead and needs to be replaced.  I am surprised by the comparatively short life of this battery.
    I was thinking that perhaps the use of the powered docking station played some role in shortening the battery's life.  For example, it may have repeatedly overcharged the battery.
    Is there a Power Manager setting that will reduce the likelihood that the battery is being overcharged while in the docking station?  In the future, is it feasible to simply remove the battery before inserting it into the docking station so that this won't continue to occur?
    Thank you.
    (I did a search of the community's knowledgebase, but didn't find anything on point.)

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    I’m sorry to hear that battery of your Lenovo ThinkPad X220 had undergone wear and tear and has to be replaced.
    Capacity of a battery declines as the battery ages, with the number of charge cycles and time at high temperature. Under average usage patterns your battery maintains approximately 70% of its power capacity after the first year of operation.
    Most laptops today use lithium Ion (Li-ion) batteries. Overcharging Li-ion batteries is not a problem and does not affect the battery life span. These batteries have an internal circuit to stop the charging process at full charge. This is why the Li-ion batteries are more expensive. The only way for the Li-ion battery to overcharge is if the charging system malfunctions, and then the battery will heat up while in the charger. Older laptops use Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries. They require more maintenance than Lithium Ion batteries. They must be fully discharged and then fully recharged so that they don't lose battery life.
    Refer this document to see the tips on how to increase the battery life.
    Hope this provided enough clarity for your query!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Power Manager Guage: Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached

    I have a T60p Thinkpad  (WinXP) with a non-genuine Lenovo Battery.  Several times a session, a warning balloon pops up from the system tray Power Manager Guage that reads "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached".  There is no way to close the balloon and if I try, it takes control of my browser and tries to sell me a battery.  Very heavy-handed marketing.
    Is there any way to disable this ballon, even getting into the registry?  I cannot buy a new battery and the ballon is quite distracting!
    Thank you

    I just got an aftermarket battery, which I have no choice about because that is
    our office supplier.  It is one thing to warn me ONCE about a possibly inferior
    accessory.  IT IS ENTIRELY ANOTHER MATTER TO NAG ME CONSTANTLY ABOUT IT.
    So  I have to choose between beging nagged by the "not a genuine Lenovo
    battery" message all the time, or disabling all battery charge control by exitting the application.
    Thanks a lot Lenovo.  Everyone else in the office has already gone to other brands.
    If this is the way Lenovo treats their customers, then this is the last Thinkpad I will ever
    buy too.

  • Life without Lenovo Power Manager: Any thoughts? [battery issue, charging error]

    A while back, we discovered the battery maintenance error, where the "stop charging at 90%" feature would cause the battery to only charge partially to like 50% but read that it was fully charged, and then it would turn off early. This was the thread. I know it's a BIOS issue, and I will update eventually, but the partial charge happened to me again, and it got me thinking:
    Do I really need the Power Manager?
    I use the Power Manager to configure Turbo Boost clock speed and all that, and I suppose the Turbo+ button does crank up the fan, but I can use TPFancontrol to manually control the fan, and I found that Windows power settings by itself allows me to set the clock speed however I want, using a percentage. Setting all the numbers at 45% parks the clockspeed at 1.2GHz, a good compromise for battery life and performance. The best Power Manager can do is to cycle between 700Mhz all the way up to 2.7Ghz, which throws battery life out the window.
    So, will I lose anything by just uninstalling Power Manager?

    Technically the answer is no, Power Manager is optional.  However, it is a good option for Windows 7 users. It does expose more power management to the user than the power settings under Control panel.
    Until they release the Windows 8 version and I run it for a few weeks, I won't know what to say about that environment.

  • Power Manager does not recognize battery

    Recently installed updated Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox on my 3000 N100 0768 DLU laptop, including Power Manager.  I'm getting message that a battery is not installed, though there clearly is one.  Suggestions?????

    Thanks for taking a look at Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (LTT). Please note that LTT is supported on "All ThinkPad, ThinkCentre and ThinkStation systems released after January 2004." Its predecessor, Lenovo System Toolbox is supported on all the above plus Lenovo 3000 systems released after January 2004.
    Along the same lines, Power Manager is targeted for specific ThinkPad systems. I took a quick look at the downloads page for the 3000 n100 but did not see either application on the list.
    I hope that helps.

  • Application Manager Always Shows Install

    I installed every application, but for Edge Animate and Touch App Plugins it's showing the Install option even though I have already installed it.  Everything else shows Up to date.  I've already tried uninstalling those particular ones and reinstalling.  I've tried reinstalling the Application Manager as well.  It's a bit anal I know, but just wondering if there's a way to show that it's all up to date like the rest of the installed apps, or if this is normal for those apps?

    Then you may want to work directly with our support team.  You can contact our chat support at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6.
    Alternately you can try the following which should allow you to resolve your current difficulties:
    Uninstall all Adobe Creative software using the uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.

  • K900 Power Management

    Hi,
    Bought the K900 two weeks back. Very recently I noticed that despite a full charge the power management would show the Battery Endurance as 7 Hrs whereas initally the Endurance would be 23 - 26 Hrs. Despite plugging the phone (note : Data, GPS, APPS all turned Off) for a full charge from a 25% battery to a 100% charge time taken was 4 hrs. I read up a few posts on such issues posted by some people and downloaded ZDbox - the ZDBox app shows that time remaining for battery to drain is 44 hrs.
    Dont know what the issue is with the phone... Has anyone else faced a problem like this or has a solution please let me know..

    You might install istat from http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/ to see what your actual temps are. Either there is not enough airflow and the system is overheating or there could be a sensor failure.
    Ensure the air vents at the base are clear. One person's were clogged with cat hair because the cat slept next to the mini.
    You can run the Apple hardware test to see if there is a problem with a sensor. Find your original OS X disks that came with the system, insert the disk that says 'AHT Version x.x' in small print on the label, reboot holding the alt/option key down, choose the Apple hardware test, and when prompted choose the extended test.

  • Power Manager locking taskbar and creating two battery icons on X201

    I am having an issue with one of my X201s and Power Manager running windows 7.  My other X201 that runs the same software and was buil7 withing a few months does not have the issue. Periodically while on the internet a second battery icon will pop up on the task bar just partially overlapping the first icon and it has a fluttering appearance. When that happens the task bar is frozen and it takes accessing task manager to be able to restart the computer.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest versions of the driver for Power Manager and Power Manager but that did not fix the problem.  Not running Power Manager seems to prevent any problems but that is not what I want to do.   I did some reading last night and it seems I am not the only one having an issue and it is not confined to the particular model.  Searching did not lead me to real answers. Looking for a solution or a better way to diagnosis this.
    T430 - Taskbar Frozen? This worked for me.
    ‎01-11-2014 01:44 AM
    I thought I would post this in case someone has the same issue I did.  Today my taskbar froze after startup (i.e. I couldn't access the start button or any other icon on the task bar and I had a two wonky grey battery icons where only one should have been).  Restarting explorer.exe didn't help.  It didn't even work in safe mode.  No viruses, malware, disk/hardware issues could be found.  The culprit was the Power Manager.  There have already been a couple threads on this, but they are somewhat convoluted in addressing the issue so I thought I would post a straight forward solution.
    I had version 6.3x installed on my T430 (which is only a couple months old, by the way). I had read in another thread that the power manager has been causing problems with the taskbar from way back BUT merely uninstalling it after the problem occurs has triggered the blue screen of death for several users.
    So, I downloaded and installed the latest version of Power Manager (currently 6.6x).  I did not uninstall the previous version first.  I simply installed the new version and restarted the computer when prompted. This fixed the frozen taskbar issue.
    Then, and only then, did I uninstall power manger completely because I never want to deal with this again. Everything is now back to normal.
    The TL;DR version:
    Step 1: Download and install latest version of power manager. DO NOT uninstall previous of power manager first.
    Step 2: Restart computer
    Step 3: For peace of mind, unistall the latest version of power manager.
    Step 4: Restart computer
    I hope this helps anyone who needs it.

    Well using the older version of powermanger did not work as the issue popped up again.  I also discovered the other X201 in the house was also having the same issue with the two battery icons and locked task bar.
    I tried a new tactic which unchecking the the box in Power Manager-Options-Show periodic messages about the battery condition.  This so far no brought up the problem but more testing is necessary to be certain.

  • Encore WT8 battery always shows at 100%

    The battery icon at the bottom right of the screen always shows the battery to be at 100%, up until the battery is drained and the tablet powers off. How do I fix this?

    Did you try to calibrate the battery in the past?
    To calibrate the battery, you should firstly discharge the battery until its would be fully empty. Then recharge the battery again till its fully charged.
    This procedure should be repeated two, three times in the row
    But note: the tablet cannot be powered on by pressing the power button if the battery power is completely exhausted. Its recommended to charge the battery pack by connection the AC adaptor for 30min before turning on the power.

  • Power manager battery maintenance problem

    Hey,
    When I tick the custom charge threshold and enter any values in power managers battery maintenance.  The only thing that happens is the battery life % doesnt change when disconnected from AC and with AC connected it just charges it to full and stays there.
    I'd like it to keep the ac in and get it to charge when battery life is 5% and stop when 100%.
    Any ideas why it doesnt work?
    ThinkPad R500 2732-6EG running Win XP

    Hi,
    althought I'm not sure, if the last update means, that you will dissable the Threshold, however, this feature is one of the options, how some customers keep the battery up to date.
    Here is a situation, so that you understand:
    - the notebook is all the time on AC and the only time, then the Notebook is unplugged is then they are moving with him and once the notebook is started, it is pluged back in to AC.
    So this situation is not letting the battery to be offloaded and the battery is still between 96-100% of changed state.
    This above situation is not the ideal one, and therefore the Threshold was added to the Power manager, so that the battery can be discharged and charged back if some percentage of the battery state is reached. Additionally we have added the option, so that you can select by yourself, what should be the threshold so that it will not be only hardcoded. This is more user friendly
    So resume:
    - if you are a user, like I described above, then it's not a must to use Threshold, however, it's a good idea, as when you read abot the batteries in Notebooks, then you will find the inforamation, that it's by every producer recommended, that the battery will be sometimes almost below 10% of his state and then it will be charged, so that the maintanance of the battery is on a better level.
    Maybe this explains you a bit the situation and the scenario, that you want to have and also bascialy this might tell you if you want, or don't want to use the Threshold.
    Feel free to ask any add quesitons to this topic.
    Cheers

  • X61 power manager on Win 7 64bit

    I have installed Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate edition on my X61 with 4Gb RAM.
    Fully charged, the power manager shows over 2 hours available time, but the problem I have is that the machine will, without any warning, perform a "critical power level" shutdown when the power available is still showing in excess of 1 hour.
    After reconnecting the charger and restarting the machine, the power manager now shows almost empty - just over 5%.
    All drivers and utilities are the latest available, based on the System Update tool.  The battery also does not come up as being on the recall list, and in all other respects is in good condition - the cycle count is only 56. The power manager reports version 3.31
    Has anyone else observed similar behaviour for the power manager on an X61 ??

    Hello mate,
    Try to calibrate the battery and see if it's getting better.

    I'm using Xmonad (without Gnome) and installed gnome-power-manager to manage the battery on my laptop. I can't find the binary:

    EDIT: After looking at "Package Contents" list on the package page:

    it appears gnome-power-manager is not installed, just gnome-power-statistics. How can this be? They are not the same thing AFAICT.

    pacman -Ql gnome-power-manager
    will show you all the files within that package.
    pacman -Ql gnome-power-manager | grep /bin/
    should find some binaries.

    Seems there's only /usr/bin/gnome-power-statistics.
